MANILA (Reuters) - The Philippine government declined on Tuesday to give a new deadline for a peace agreement with Muslim rebels as differences over territory junked hopes for a deal next month. The mainly Catholic country has been trying for 30 years to end an insurgency that has killed more than 120,000 people but negotiations with the largest Muslim rebel group have stalled over the size of their proposed homeland in the south.
"Everybody is on guard as far as territory is concerned, not only the Muslims but also the indigenous peoples and the Christian population," Professor Rudy Rodil, a member of the government's negotiating panel, told a foreign press briefing.
"Before May, we were optimistic. At the rate we were going, we thought that maybe September would be a good date," said Rodil. "We realised that we were probably a bit too optimistic."
The government has offered to add 613 villages to an existing five-province Muslim autonomous region but the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), the Philippines' largest Islamic rebel group, wants to include more than 1,000.
The Muslim minority in the southern Philippines is largely located on the western side of the island of Mindanao, where there are also large Christian cities. About 20 percent of the region's 18 million people are believed to be Muslim.
Many of the villages earmarked for membership of a Muslim homeland lie far from the existing five-province autonomous region and Rodil said the question of how to govern them had yet to be addressed.
The two sides, in talks since 1997, have also side-stepped the question of how to share ownership of Mindanao's mineral wealth, some of which is claimed by indigenous tribes as well as Muslims and the central government.
A peace agreement with another Muslim rebel group, the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), sealed 10 years ago this week, has failed to bring peace or jobs to the local population.
Jesus Dureza, the president's peace adviser, said talks with the MILF, brokered by Malaysia since 2001, would begin shortly without any public deadline.
"I do not think we should raise expectations in the public's mind," said Dureza, declining to give further details.

On Monday, a MILF insurgent along with two suspected members of Abu Sayyaf, a smaller Muslim rebel group which the government has vowed to destroy, were arrested allegedly trying to board a Manila-bound ferry with homemade bombs.
What the government should do is tell the muslim, if you want some of land, then every muslim in the rest of the Philippine will vacate and head towards the muslim land. l think if India would of demanded the removal of all muslims into pakistan, you would of had an uproar of muslims not wanting to leave India.
therefore you would of prevented the parting of land from India. when these muslim monsters want some land, give them the land only on the condition that the rest of the muslims on the remaining part of the country need to vacate, which we know most muslims do not wish to settle on sharia land.

In fact nothing is ever enough for those who claim the world.
Unless the monster of Islam is attacked full frontal and defeated militarily as well as by massive counter-propaganda-campaigns nobody will make any progress. A solution might be to intern ALL the men, put them in re-education camps and concentrate on the women & children. Perhaps forced conversion to Christianity or Buddhism is a solution...
Even if the Mohammedan movement succeeds in one area, it cannot sustain itself. If Islam succeeds in taking over Mindanao, (or the south of Thailand) it will always rely on raids on the infidels in order to provide sustenance, according to the teachings of profit Mo. Islam is not, cannot be self-sufficient, and since the mere existence of infidels causes 'oppression & corruption' in the land, the jihad must continue until all the world belongs to 'Allah'...
So if the above does not suffice as a solution, the only other way to resolve the islamic expansion-drive is by genocide of whole (Muslim) populations, something for which Muslims have a mandate, straight out of the Koran. This method seems not acceptable by the more civilized Christian majority of the Philippines, but once the atrocities become unbearable and the terror starts in earnest, some serious counter-measures have to be implemented.
Sooner is better for self-preservation....

It seems so obvious doesn't it, end islamic immigration and restrict that ideology from spreading any further. You would think after the attempt by some muslims to slaughter up to 10,000 people in the UK a few red flags would start to go up in our society.
Well, in Australia right now there is a debate going on in the media after John Howard made some remarks about islam. And whats the debate about? Its about whether or not muslims speak english and integrate, thats it. I'd prefer the debate was about whether or not we let more muslims come here to blow us up, but that's just me.

Absolutely. Their attitude is "what's mine is mine and what's yours is mine". Rational people usually come to an understanding on matters of differences in interests via compromise in politics and business, and often that's enough to end conflicts. However, there is too much deception by too many Muslims for a strictly rational approach to work. A written agreement with Muslims often isn't worth the paper its written on, and with jihadists its worth nothing.

They can consult Israel who knows a little about dealing with Muslims and land.
Now the Phillipines should know how the Israelis feel.
The MILF are operating from the same manual that the Palestinians have operated from: "demand land, negotiate for land, agree on land, reject agreement, and negotiate for more land, when negotiations stop then bomb and kill to get negotiations going again, get more land.....then repeat all over again".
In 10 or 15 years from now we will still be reading about this and there will more and more transfers of land....instead of just exterminating the MILF.

Non-Moslem peoples, worldwide, are in a passive footing towards Moslems. Moslems, by contrast, without exception over time have always gotten itself onto an war footing against the non-Moslems hosting them.
This is a sure recipe for long-term disaster. Take the Phillipines as an example. With 5 of its 79 provinces already conceded, 16% of its territory is a de facto Islamic Republic.
The Phillipines is a good looking candidate for Sharia. After Somalia topples to Sharia, intense and jealous Moslems in the Sudan, Chad, Thailand, Nigeria, Pakistand, and elsewhere to Islamic Republicanism over the near- and middle-term. Morocco and Turkey are a couple of other candidates.
With the call for global jihad called by OBM in '98, the results so far have been most excellent for him. We should make book on the sequence in which these nations will fall, and whether anything will change after OBM is liquidated.
