Every year now since Jihad Watch began in October 2003 we have chronicled how jihad violence increases during Ramadan, which was characterized last year by the jihadist site Jihad Unspun as a time of "battles of glory and victories over the unbelievers." Ramadan this year, for all too many, offers similar glories -- particularly since it comes during Pope Rage.
From AFP, with thanks to Sr. Soph:
DUBAI - Islam’s holy fasting month of Ramadan began on Saturday in most of the Middle East, with bloodshed in Iraq, threats of violence across the region and many Muslims still incensed over remarks by the pope.In the first reported bloodshed of the holy month, at least 31 people were killed by a bomb in a Shiite stronghold of Iraq where calls for “jihad’, or holy war, echoed earlier threats of attacks in the Gulf and on Israel.
A day of protests on the eve of Ramadan saw no let-up in demands for Pope Benedict XVI to apologise for quoting a medieval Christian emperor who criticised some teaching of the Prophet Mohammed as ”evil and inhuman”.
The pope has invited ambassadors of Muslim countries to the Vatican for a meeting on Monday as part of a diplomatic offensive to repair rifts caused by his remarks.
But Jordan’s Islamic Action Front derided the pope’s call.
“The pope committed a great wrong against Islam and a meeting with Muslim countries’ ambassadors is not sufficient. There must be a clear apology,” said Zaki Saad Beni Rsheid, the front’s secretary general.
As the religious row rumbled on, the shadow of more violence during Ramadan hung over security forces.
US military commanders in Iraq warned of an upsurge in violence while several other countries were fingered as Ramadan targets in a message to Western leaders from Ayman Al Zawahiri, the number two in Al Qaeda.
Marking the fifth anniversary of the September 11 attacks in the United States, Zawahiri threatened Israel and countries in the Gulf.
Zawahiri’s message came three days after the head of Al Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Hamza Al Muhajer, urged the country’s Sunni minority to rise up and kill at least one American in the next 15 days, in a video on an Islamist website.
“These multiple messages could be a prelude to a series of attacks by Al Qaeda or by its supporters, especially during Ramadan, the month of jihad and martyrdom,” said Yasser Sirri, who heads the Islamic Observatory in London.
What will be interesting to see is if Iran will attack israel along with hezbollah and hamas at this time. Along with "pope rage", this ramadan could make the saying "hell on earth" real. The worst thing about this, is that Irans declaired "day of rage" was just before ramadan started; so it is fresh in all the crazy's minds.
They aren't fasting, they've just switched their days and nights. I sure don't know how they can go without water in the desert heat of the middle east during the day. That's pretty stupid. It's dangerous to get dehydrated even if you don't do much moving around. And if you get thirsty, you're already dehydrated.
VERY dangerous, VERY STUPID!!
Ramadan platitudes courtesy Wikipedia:
"During Ramadan, Muslims are also expected to put more effort into following the teachings of Islam by refraining from sexual intercourse (during fasting), violence, anger, envy, greed, lust, angry and sarcastic retorts, and gossip. People are meant to try to get along with each other better than they normally might."
Mm-hmm.
Its like all the rage and ramadan will go hand and hand this year. I mean if you can't eat or drink, and its 100+ degrees, your gonna get a lil testy. And if you actually got some legitimate anger(lets say israel destroying lebanon, the pope saying islam is evil, americans in iraq, americans in afghanistan, palistinians with not even 1$ to buy their ramadan light/candle, israel is still prospering.) then ya it could just be jihad and crazies all over the place(including in america) destroying shit, rioting, stomping on flags...lol makes me wanna go out and buy my own tank.
To celebrate Ramadan, I'm going to have lunch at Hooters on Monday.
sarcastic retorts - Concerned citizen above, quoting Wikipedia
Yeah, right.
Ramadan, doesn't it mean hog roasts up wind of Mosques and Muslim areas?
"The Taliban has been warning all muslimes to flee New York City and Washington D.C. in preperation of a major ramadan attack. So i guess we will see what happens.."
I think that the Al Qaeda drama queens have regularly made great statements for Muslims to stay away from tall buildings and built up areas, to leave Europe and the US. Nothing new there.
Funny how this comes from an organisation which didn't do 9/11, oh the irony of the 9/11 deniers, their meticulously fabricated arguments and concocted photoshopped "evidence" sunk by the very terrorist organisation who they dedicated their lives to protect!
It saddens me that Ramadan is associated with terror and violence .... the vast majority of Muslims spend Ramadan in constant prayer, attending services, charitable work etc.
Ramadan sounds to me more like Christmas than Lent.
Problems with weight gain during fasting:
" THERE’S A HUGE difference between theory and practice when it comes to the Holy Month. All Muslims know that Ramadan is supposed to be 30 days of spirituality and self-sacrifice, a chance for one to cleanse both body and soul, but the majority of us tend to do just the opposite. From a health standpoint, what actually takes place during Ramadan is quite frightening.
As soon as the hilal (crescent moon) has been spotted and the announcement of the start of Ramadan has been made, we all switch into ‘fasting mode,’ which usually means three things: gastronomic overindulgence, sleep deprivation and marathon television viewing.
The result of this assault on the system usually leads to chronic fatigue, headaches, indigestion, constipation and for many an ‘inexplicable’ 3-4 kilo weight gain by month’s end. Not exactly the normal outcome of a 30-day fast."

More food bought and consumed than at other times of the year:
"A learned scholar once said that "There is no receptacle more odious to God, than a belly stuffed full of food after a fast" and therefore "of what use is the Fast as a means of conquering God's enemy and abating appetite, if at the time of breaking it one not only makes up for all one has missed during the daytime, but perhaps also indulges in a variety of extra foods?" Indeed, there is a concern that it is becoming customary for some to "stock up" for Ramadan, so that more is consumed during this time than in the course of several other months combined"

"The trolley carts at supermarkets are being loaded with a variety of goodies and treats in preparation for the month-long fasting.
Lubna Hamood was shopping at one hypermarket when we intercepted her with a barrage of questions relating to the pre-Ramadan inventory stockpiling"
The ‘special dishes’ are mostly high-calorie sweetmeats. And there’s more to it than just indulging in it as a post-fast treat. “Because of the long hours between our meals during fasting we need to eat a lot of sweet things to give us more energy,” said a shopper who requested anonymity.
While he was all for the sweet tooth, the hole that it left in his wallet was big, he said. “We spend at least RO60 on food alone during the month of Ramadan. And that was earlier, now the expenditure has gone up by 30 per cent,” he said watching his wife as she tucked away supplies into their cart.
For Khwala, a resident of Al Amerat, the Ramadan preparatory shopping makes a sizeable RO100 dent in their budget, because the quantities bought are double of that purchased at other times. The list runs into flour, juice, baking powder, salt, pizza base, red lentil, meat, fish, chicken and other food items bought in surplus. And Umtaraj, a customer, spends RO30 a week, whereas at other times her weekly rations cost around RO10.
The bulk buying that goes on at this time is also because there’s a lot of social gathering – guests’ visits and family get-togethers. And that’s another reason why people stock up on ample kitchen supplies, said Lubna.
Abdullah, a student of the Fire-Fighting Engineering College, who had come to a shopping mall with his mother, said: “Our family is big. Therefore, we stock up a bulk of commodities well in advance as we have many visitors and friends dropping in and we welcome them with traditional dishes. This is the time when we also buy crockery, kitchenware, and linen and give a makeover to the interior decoration of our house. We plan it out so that it’s all done well before Ramadan starts.”
"To cater to the growing demand, supermarkets, hypermarkets, shopping malls and small shops have enough stock of a wide array of products that are must-haves for the month. Display areas are choc-a-bloc with staggering mounds of different custards, jellies, whipped cream, pasta, fruit, juice, custard powder, gram flower, dates, vermicelli packs, corn flour, and cake mixes. Dinner sets, crockery sets, huge serving platters and juice jars have been arranged cheek by jowl and inquisitive shoppers are poking around the towering displays, buying by the dozen.
Naureen Khan, a Pakistani housewife, said: “We are lucky that we are able to follow our traditional diet during Ramadan as all products are readily available. We break the fast with dates and sweet drinks. It is followed by a range of dishes, curry, meat and rice together with some sweets”.

Ramadan is also the month of jihad par excellance:
“Education for fasting has not been limited to preparing Muslims for battle and imbuing them with the meaning of soldiering, but also included waging a number of honorable battles during the month of Ramadan - to the point where this month came to be called ‘The Month of Jihad.’ The nation of Islam came to be called ‘the Jihad-fighting nation,’ and its moral values came to be called ‘the values of warfare’…”
“Fasting is closely connected to Jihad in two aspects: First, determination and steadfastness until The Hour [Judgment Day]. Fasting is a continuous commandment, until Judgment Day? and the same is true for Jihad, because Muslim society needs it to defend [its] faith, honor, and homeland? The nation’s fasting is [itself] education for Jihad, and as long as the nation fasts it will continue to be a Jihad fighter.”
“Second, fasting and Jihad are connected [to each other] in body, spirit, and soul. To this end, Allah has set some Jihad battles for the month of fasting in order to gather together the army of Allah"
The article goes on to list the battles fought by muslims during Ramadan, quite a long one.
Fighters in the cause of allah are exempt from fasting.

"While their Ramadan diets diverge, all the countries of the Middle East have one trait in common: the month of fasting is also the month of excessive food consumption. "If individuals held to the alimentary tradition of the Prophet during Ramadan," writes Diouri, "their body weight would certainly show evidence of it by the end of the month... In fact, today, particularly in the towns, the exact reverse occurs: many people experience a substantial weight increase." Commenting on this phenomenon in modern Morocco, Diouri argues that the generous use of sugar and flour might be the culprit: According to A Ben Talha, author of a monograph on the local customs of Muslims in the city of Mulay Idriss and its environs during the month of Ramadan, 40 years ago Iftar consisted of "a bowl of soup, preceded by a sweet fruit, a small amount of honey or even just a mouthful of water: that alone gave strength... and Suhour consisted of a light meal: toast smeared with butter or bread soaked in egg and lightly fried in butter... or, according to an old custom, a hot loaf just taken from the oven; that was typical of old peasants." No snacks were eaten between meals; nor was an abundance of fried and baked sweets devoured from dusk to dawn, as is now the case. Far from reflecting the frugality advocated by the Prophet, the new traditions indicate our lasting adherence to ancient Persian and Turkish indulgence."

"First recorded bloodshed"? It's going to be a long month for anyone who is not a mainstream Muslim.
Silvester, your post on Ramadan weight gain was interesting (I've heard this before), but to be honest, this does not much concern me. Whether this is the "proper" way to celebrate Ramadan is an internal matter, much as questions every December as to whether marathon gift buying sprees, overeating, and even sometimes raucous office parties are the best way to celebrate the birth of Christ. I actually love most Christmas celebrations, but it is a legitimate question.
What really concerns me are outbursts of Muslim violence, exacerbated by Ramadan fasting or Friday sermons. Any increase in "piety" seems to just inflame many Muslims to further violence. When was the last time you heard about Purim violence, or Lenten violence?
"It saddens me that Ramadan is associated with terror and violence .... the vast majority of Muslims spend Ramadan in constant prayer, attending services, charitable work etc.

That is another cost of senseless holy war against everyone by the jihadists, they deliberately cause provocation to invite retribution and hope that they get more converts to extremism.
I still do not understand, why Pope should say sorry, would someone explain. I mean he was quoting someone very clearly and was discussing a key dilemma which adherent of any religion would feel - how to reconcile religion and faith. Any Muslim, or any interested party is free to check the reference.
I feel that it is not a conflict between Pope and Islamist, it is a conflict between the civil discourse and barbarians. It is same as the cartoon issue was not between particular newspaper and Islam but between the freedom of expression and suppression.
As there are Muslim protestors in Western countries, I wonder what will happen if even a one guy is out there in Islamist countries supporting freedom of expression.
Please read 'how to reconcile religion and faith' in above as 'how to reconcile religion and faith with reason'
Silvester,
I don't think things were much different except in earlier times they just did not have as much food in muslim countries 40 years ago.
al-ahram is trying to con us again.

I take your point. But what annoys me is the holier-than-thou attitude from Muslims when talking about Ramadan, and the MSM articles that are shoved down our throats about it every year.
And this kind of thing annoys the hell out of me:
This week-end Ramadan begins. The mayor of Paris (Bertrand Delanoë, pictured) is organizing for the occasion an evening of festivities and of "sharing" on September 30 at Charléty stadium. The guest of honor will be the mayor of Casablanca Mohammed Sajid and refreshments will be served. The program will be introduced by the director Yamina Benguigui and enlivened by a Jewish-Arabic orchestra, with artists such as Youssou N'Dour, Abderahim Souihri, Naïma Jazaïria, Jbali, Amine, Willy Denze, Leslie ou Assia. At midnight fireworks will bring the evening to a close. This year, Charléty stadium will be able to accommodate a larger crowd and around 5000 people are expected.
We're waiting for the mayor's proposals on celebrating Easter.

Pagan,
there was a good blog going in the 100%muslim nation of Maldives about arabisation. But the bloggers got hate comments and threats and finally when they were being reported to the authorities, they pulled it all off with a final posting.

In a way the use of violence to prop up a religion means that the religion isn't built on very strong foundations so they have to use terror and intimidation to dissuade rational debate and just criticism.
The use and threats of violence my Islam mean that it is not only the correct method to topple the religion but it is necessary for this to be done.
Islam needs to be questioned, the more it is questioned the more violent they will get exponentially to the criticism, much like like a difficult birth but this baby is world peace and that can only be born through Islam dying in childbirth.
FYI, Jihad unspun is surrounded by suspicions. To start with the website was started by a Canadian Married Couple, neither of which is Arab, Pakistani, Afghani or any other country associated with Islam, in fact they are caucasian, Canadian born and supposedly converts.
The woman who runs the website goes by the name of Beth, here's just one link to the story Disinnformation Busted. I was privy to an internet debate, in 2003, as regards the subject , it's no longer available but Here is the cached article
And FYI, an excerpt from that debate (JUS = Jihad UnSpun)
Ramadan makes me to happy. We get to kill even more infidels and nobody to notice, because we in deep religious holiday dress.
I wish we make more Ramadans. It fun.....
Does anyone else sense that portentous times are upon us? I may be simply seeing faces in clouds, but a lot of loose strands seem to be coming together lately.
The next attacks we are warned will be impossible or difficult to link to Islam or Muslims, and our enemies know the confusion and rancor this will trigger in the West. Our societal faultlines are being expertly widened by these beasts and their Western abettors. Their efforst will be concentrated where our cultural social divisions will be exacerbated exponentially. Those who comprehend the evil, carnal, and depraved nature of the Muslim foe will be more marginalized than ever in the West if it's hard or impossible to identify the attack with the Muslims... They also know that if this is done successfully, all the cultural lunatics, uninformed morons, and degenerates will cause even more harm by having a non-Islamic seeming mega-terror attack to point at, which will allow them to perpetuate their anti-Western calumnies against us.
Keep your eye out possibly for some kind of major setup as a prelude to a complete sucker punch against us. They've been probing us all along and thinking of the best way that pressure can be applied to our society to wreak the most havoc.
By it's nature, Islam's next assault won't be something we're directly expecting. I think about things like:
What better time for Iran or her proxies to do a nuclear attack before the world even concedes that they have nukes or pose a threat? What better time for Pakistan to lauch a sneak attack, and to paint it as a North Korean, or Iranian operation? Some variant of this is in the offing.
What better time to attack Israel, or even a nation of cowards like France with full on nukes. Whoever does it will go to great lenghts to conceal their fingerprintss, not simply to avoid retaliation, but to engender the most confusion in the world.
Or if Usama Bin Laden is all but written off as dead from cholera or typhoid by the Western Press through the agencies of France and the Saudis (...of all things, this would be just great...), only to see him miraculously resurrected during this peaceful month of Ramadan - or some other such nefarious Muslim malarky.
Not to be alarmist, but we are not properly confronting this mortal foe. With little resources, and few Muslims directly involved, they have proven their ability to perpetrate the darkest and most treacherous atocities upon us. I understood soon after 9/11 sunk in that there is nearly no way for us to prevent this methodology, and under our current myopic attitudes among Westerners towards Muslims and Islam, there is currently no effective way to truly beat them off and prevent maximum destruction of our systems and society.
This is part of the revelation of 9/11 to me. I still am completely amazed that so few in the West have figured out how compromised we have allowed ourselves to become by simply allowing Muslims into our midst. As long as they remain, we are in grave peril.
And if we are honest, and do a cost/benefit analysis, we would have to conclude that there are little to no benefits for having Muslims allowes to practice and spread Islam in our lands, and when compared to the possible harm or even potential annihilation of our society which they potentially pose -- it seems altogether blind stupid and/or insane that Muslims are still tolerated in our 'infidel' dominions.
If a nuclear weapons goes off in our nation, I think that would instantly cause nationwide riots. This would be the beginning of our downfall. I already see us slipping in everything we do. You see all these people on the news smiling like everythings cool, "no iran wants to be reconized, North Korea is making new nuclear weapons because they want to restart nuclear talks." I want to know why the Jews have it right and we have it wrong: IRAN WANTS WORLD DOMINATION UNDER ONE RELIGION-ISLAM! Ahmadinejad has said "god willing, islam will conquer what? islam will conquer the mountaintops of the world."
Israel has reconized the thread Iran poses. They, unlike us, have learned from history. ADMINISTRATION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, HEAR THIS!: AHMADINEJAD IS LIKE HITLER BUT HAS MORE SELF CONTROL!
jsla, you make good points. This thing is going to hit us like a storm and we will be shell shocked because the deception that is getting fed through the media.
Happy Ramadan. Hopefully the fasting results in a lot of dead terrorists.
Boy,Purple Haze scares me. He's all too right.
Please good people of jihad watch- realize our enemy of the world- please watch this short clip into the true insight of ahmadinejad-please note: this recieved no media attention what so ever in western nations or even outside of iran I looked through the net and couldn't find an article citing it.

Ramadamn-the month of prayer. To Satan,no doubt.
In that video I posted above, ahmadinejad clearly says how he will take the fight to US troops. He explains how "art must be on the offensive, and the most devine art is suicide bombing"

Here's a really sad statement about the Mind set of the Muslims that dwell on a fear of "Backlash" that never seems to happen event after weeks of firebombings and killing of Chruches and Christians.
This month a female student in Montreal was murdered by a Sikh student that shot and injured many other students before turning the gun on himself, while the girl was just buried and the body may still be warm , the below comment made me sick that her death was Hijacked to push the "Islamophobia" agenda.

I also felt a sense of relief when I heard that the perpetrator of this brutal crime was not a Muslim. I was praying, as many other Canadian Muslims probably were, that the terrorist would not turn out to be one of us. Were that to happen, the entire community would have been held liable and directly responsible for this barbaric act that was deliberately planned to bring about death and destruction.
So-called terrorism "experts" would have been quick to connect the dots and warn Canadians about the magnitude of the terrorist threat in their midst and how this country is vulnerable to attack by "homegrown" fanatics.
The religion of Islam would have been put under increased scrutiny and the media would editorialize endlessly about the danger that Islamic fanaticism poses to society in general.
"Moderate Muslims" would then rush in front of TV cameras warning about the role some mosques are playing in harboring young terrorists- in-training whose only mission in life is to kill innocent people.
The Harper government would have played its militaristic card by telling Canadians this is why it is necessary for our troops to be in Afghanistan.
Other politicians, overtaken by fear and emotion, might call for the invasion of other countries such as Iran and Syria in order to fight terrorism on a broader field.
And with all of these possibilities unfolding, the lives of ordinary loyal and law-abiding citizens from Canada's Muslim communities would have been turned into a living hell.
There would be the inevitable backlash from hate mongers and the ignorant, who would try to take matters into their own hands.
When 17 so-called "homegrown terror suspects" were arrested recently in Toronto, I suddenly had no peace at my workplace; the amount of hostility I encountered was unimaginable. Co-workers openly denigrated my faith without giving any thought to the emotional damage they were causing me and any other Muslims in the vicinity.
Shortly after the 9-11 tragedies, a woman commenting on the murder of a Sikh man in the U.S. scolded the perpetrator -- not for killing an innocent man, but for not making sure that the person he intended to kill was indeed a Muslim. "Shame on him for not doing his homework first," she said.
Another colleague urged that Canada should not allow Muslim women to enter the country without removing their religious headscarves, called Hijabs; they should either be forced to take them off or go back where they come from, she argued.
Another female colleague added her two cents' worth by saying that she can't stand seeing Muslim women covering themselves. She said she feels like removing that "piece of rag" by force.
This is why, when the terrible crime was unfolding at Dawson College, I was thinking about what could happen if the murderer was a Muslim. We have had enough backlash as a result of the recent arrests of terror suspects in Canada and around the world.
But for this crime, despite its enormity, no one else could be blamed but the mentally ill young man who took a gun and pulled the trigger over and over again among innocent college students -- it was not about ethnicity, culture or religious faith.

I laughed so loud when i read that, that i almost fell off my chair... Nice comments man, very funny and true!!!
Muslim leadership utilizes diversion to achieve objectives. Petro dollars are used to prevail over foreign rivals, by subverting the freedom of information. Large blocks of shares are purchased with petro dollars. Muslim ownership is significant. There is a routine exchange of favors. In media, education, and politics, the public is subject to propaganda and incomplete explanation. Citizens of non-Muslim countries, do not see, read, or hear the truth about Islam from these information outlets. In Muslim countries, the widespread practice of Islam is law. Allah, Muhammad, and piety, distract the majority of peasants. Islam can encourage militant jihad. Some adherents will be taught to sacrifice their lives for the aspirations of their betters.
But the tide is turning. Muslim leaders were thrown off balance, after 9-11-01. Decades of veiled success, is screeching to a halt. Private websites are outfoxing Muslim attempts at disinformation. Violent demonstrations seem to be disadvantageous. The Internet is exposing their malicious strategy. The construct of paradise is also transparent, since Muslim puppet masters do not sacrifice their own lives for Islam.
Man I wish I could post my own articles here. I would be able to give alot of insight and good points. Any job openings here Spencer?
The construct of paradise is also transparent, since Muslim puppet masters do not sacrifice their own lives for Islam.
Posted by: SFOD at September 23, 2006 11:08 PM
Such a valid point!!! it's something so glaringly obvious and yet so few people make that connection or use it as ammo to debate against muslims... e.g. if paradise is really their ultimate goal and martyrdom is their only guarantee of paradise, then why don't all 1.5 billion muslims just do all us infidels a huge favior and commit mass suicide? that would solve all their problems and get rid of one of our biggest current global problems.
Also, like SFOD mentioned, why is it that the leaders of islamic jihad groups never blow themselves up? and always send some new, naive member to go and get dismembered?
Could it maby be, that Osama and other losers like him realise the eternity in hell that awaits them, and therefore prefer to hang around as long as possible, in order to decieve as many people as they can with the time they have left?

I think I see what you mean. We've had a slew of ROP articles in the local papers recently.
Worse, often the extreme and grotesque reactions of Muslims to any supposed slight to Allah and the Prophet are excused at least in part by the MSM, because, after all, Muslims are *so* religious. They take these things seriously, we must remember. Much more than all those devout Jews, and Christians, and Hindus, who mostly manage to avoid becoming unhinged no matter what the provocation.
I checked out that link Purple Haze had above. I'm A Nut Job has that wonderful demonic smile on his face as he expounds the art of martyrdom. Every time I see that maniac smile and do that hand gesture thing I really don't know if I want to laugh or puke.
Why doesn't the Iranian prez martyr himself to set a good example? The ones who shriek loudest for this "art" always live the longest because they're too gutless to do so themselves.

What is killing our troops in iraq right now? suicide bombing!" Ahmadinejad is commiting a crime on the peoples of the middle east and the children of the middle ease especially. He is doing this like hitler but in a more..."logical way". He doesn't just say "were gonna kill jews" he actually gives reasons for all these crazy things he says. Why do you think the holocaust is a myth. "Oh cuz they wanted to oppress the free people of palestine". This shit makes sense to the crazies over in the middle east. Along with the propaganda everywhere since we invaded iraq, we are possibly facing 7 nazi germanys, what ahmadinejad is trying to do is bring them all together so he can be the leader of the 1.2 billion man army(probably will not be this big so lets say 500 million) This video is good aswell...it is a muslem that can read inbetween the lines and is realizing that ahmadinejad's true intentions are:

Perhaps Moslems need to make Ramadan a more introspective time for examining their own consciences and repenting of and doing penance for their own sins -- sort of what Lent is to Catholics.
All His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI did was to hold up a mirror to Islam. If some Moslems took offense at what they saw there, they need to look to themselves and the fundamental tenets of their jihadist ideology for corrective action, not blame the Pope or Christianity or the whole non-Islamic world. Smashing the mirror (and/or the one holding it) will not cure the ugliness reflected in the mirror.
The Holy Father was gracious far beyond the expectations of common courtesy in his expression of regret for the violent and hateful reactions of many Moslems to his obscure historical citation. However, considering those reactions, it was a quintessentially Christian act for him to reach out and try to meet them more than halfway.
from a video on suicide bombing:
He clearly explain how "art must be on the offensive, and the best art is suicide bombing.
.............
There have been a lot of insane things said about the nature of art in the last century, but none more than this--grotesque, violent destruction as "Art".
So how do Muslims regard actual, creative art? Here is the quote from Mohammed:
"The people who will be most severely punished by Allah on the day of Resurrection are the Picture Makers."
Apparently trying to match the beauty of "Allah's creation" is haram, while wantonly destroying it is just fine.
As for the West, here is writer Elizabeth Wurtzel's infamous reaction to 9/11 (she lived within sight of the WTC at the time--here she is being interviewed)
"... I had not the slightest emotional reaction. I thought, this is a really strange art project... It was a most amazing sight in terms of sheer elegance. It fell like water. It just slid, like a turtleneck going over someone's head... It was just beautiful. You can't tell people this. I'm talking to you because you're Canadian... I just felt like everyone was overreacting. People were going on about it. That part really annoyed me... "
Now I have to get back to the painting I'm working on.
Every religion has its sacraments and rituals, even a fake religion like Islam.
Ramadan is celebrated by Moslems to honor the Battle of Badr. That battle took place between the pagans and Moslems after the latter had run a back stabbing murder-kidnapping caravan robbery operation up at Naklah. This is what the clown "Islamic scholars" refer to as the Expedition To Naklah.
Imagine the south central Crips deitizing their latest crime as the Expedition to Hawthorne or the Expedition to Compton, and you've captured the essence of Islam.
Inshallah.
So would it be improper to say that Ramadan started of with a bang this year?
