Khadija was a prominent businesswoman in PAGAN Arabia where she became extremely wealthy before meeting Muhammed. After Islam came to dominate Arabia, women lost the rights and status they had before.
As for women trading and doing business... women has this status long before the advent of Islam. In ancient Rome women dominated the marketplace and one of the most prominent early Christians was Lydia described in Acts 16:14 as a "seller of purple cloth".
The Hebrew scriptures are full of women who were active in trade and business and the markets of East Asia have been full of businesswomen for over 2000 years.
Pre-Islamic Arabia had prominent women poets, business women, and rulers. If anything, Islam has lowered the status of women in every society it has come to control.
