Al-Qaeda warns Canada

Canada's "fanatic adherence to Christianity"? Are they talking about the Canada that's just north of the United States, or is there some other Canada I don't know about? "Al-Qaeda warns Canada: Quit Afghan mission or endure attack like 9/11, threat says," by Stewart Bell in the National Post, with thanks to LGF:

OTTAWA - An al-Qaeda strategist has warned Canada to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan or face terrorist attacks similar to 9/11, Madrid and the London transit bombings.

The threat, attributed to a member of the al-Qaeda information and strategy committee, condemns Prime Minister Stephen Harper for refusing to pull out of Afghanistan.

It also refers to Canada's "fanatic adherence to Christianity" as well as its purported attempts to "damage the Muslims" and its support for the "Christian Crusade" against al-Qaeda.

"Despite the strong, increasing opposition to spread its forces in the fire of South Afghanistan, it seems that they will not learn the lesson easily," Hossam Abdul Raouf writes.

"They will either be forced to withdraw their forces or face an operation similar to New York, Madrid, London and their sisters, with the help of Allah."

We could not in our wildest dreams make this stuff up. Ahh, jihazi propaganda, the gift that keeps on giving.

WOW.Evangelists and Baptists are telling Muslims
"Convert or Die" in Canada...

Neither can we make it up, nor can we make it up that millions disbelieve what they have in store for us. I for one think the latter is more dangerous, for it ties our hands.

Translation: Canadian troops are destroying a lot of Taliban and al Qaeda in Afghanistan-Pakistan. They wouldn't be angry if the Canadians were doing a lousy job.

Get some, Canucks!

Re: "Last month, Osama bin Laden's deputy, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, referred to Canadian troops in Kandahar as "second-rate Crusaders."

Second rate? Now that really pisses me off.

Canada and its lax immigration laws may come to haunt all of us in the future!

l had a very good laugh at this one. they dont like our prime minister Harper, oh he is one of those pesky Christians.. oh my.. and there probalby dont like what the Canaadians are doing to their comrades in afganistan. taleban on the run. Rush has a very funny tune on the taleban on the run, it will make you laugh so hard, would make any islamafacists cry!

Obviously, Al-Qaeda is attempting to generate justification amongst the Muslim community for an antecedently planned assault on Candadian soil.

While I am sure not one single Canadian will spend one second worrying about this treat, it should make them wonder, why now? Are the Canadian soldiers killing a disproportionate amount of taliban? Most likely not, the Americans are still killing the lion share. Are they treating muslims in Canada badly? Nah, liberal politics assure them of a growing muslim populace. Do they think they can scare Canada? Nah, there are still plenty of manly men who could hunt them and stuff a pork chop in their mouths and bury them miles from civilization. Most likely this was meant just to keep al qaidas name in the news, no attacks are going to happen and they will look stupid for making threats they can not keep.

This is a cry for help, the taliban are losing, and even though they have the will of the people they need fighters. Good luck with that. We would rather bury you in afghanistan than Calgary.

I saw that Calgary mosque it would make a nice graveyard, or a walmart, or we could convert it into a church. I am sure someone will find a use for it after you are all gone. Canada is not france they have enough real men left to handle the big bad al qaida.

Muslim propaganda fools no one.

Muslim propoganda fools the muslims, but then again we know how smart they are.

Pork chops sound good...

I am Canadian. I live in Hamilton (that is just outside Toronto where our government and law enforcement arrested 17 Muslims in June2006 for alleged terror plotting)

While i am definitely not scared by the threat, I do take it seriously especially if you consider our porous immigration standards. We are an easy mark. There is no doubt that eventually it will happen here. We will be hit.

Ronin, I gotta disagree with you on one aspect. Canada is now the primary NATO force in Kandahar Province (particularly the Panjwaii district) where the heaviest fighting is occurring. There are others NATO nations there but we are taking the brunt of the Taliban blows and also giving them too. Most of the close air support is from the Americans though which has caused its share of friendly fire accidents.

Again, an attack is very possible, especially if you consider the HUGE Muslim population outside Toronto (Oakville, Brampton, Missisauga...aka the greater Toronto area). It is infested with Muslims. I suppose then it is just a coincidence that the terrorists plot originated from this area and of course, local mosques.

I think Hugh wrote an excellent article after the terror arrests about the dhimmi police, RCMP, Mayor et al who placated to Muslim sensibilities. Read it again!!!

l have the words to Paul Shanklin's tune on Rush's site, of Taliban on the run. it is hilarious if you can hear it..l got to burn it to a cd and maybe play it loud while driving by a mosque lol..

Taliban on the Run,

Taliban sings: Sitting hehind the cave walls,
hiding here fovever, never going to find us,
right Osama?

News reporter: Good evening, tonight some worries
in Washington. how the war in Afgianistan is
progressing after 3 days.

McCain: Well, in my humble opinion, l think we
need
more men on the ground now! or we are not
going to win this thing.

Background liberal media: well we'll never get
there
out of there, its what the armchair generals
say. should of put more troops there, its
going to be a quagmire, we'll never get out
of there, we'll never get out of there.

Taliban: When the bombs exploded with a mighty
blast, like we fell into the sun. Then l
said to Achmed who is no longer dead, l think
jihad is no fun.
Taliban on the run, taliban on the run,
oh tell Osama that Uncle Sam says he'll be
back c'est soi.
Taliban on the run, taliban on the run, taliban on the run.

anyhow for the taliban to throw all their might now, and not doing much but sqawking..they need the media to bambozzle the rest of us.

It also refers to Canada's "fanatic adherence to Christianity"

"Canadian Christian fanatics" That's three words that you don't hear together very often.

Sir Oinks A lot,

I am a fan of the Canadian military, in my past life I worked right along side of them, on several deployments, my comment was meant to point out America was still in the fight. We actually have many Americans who tend to forget about afgahnistan and really believe all America soldiers just fight in Iraq or stay home and wait to go to Iraq. I blame both our public school system and our press. But I am getting away from my point. I should have been clearer about why the Americans kill the lion share. We do provide most of the air power and do drop a bunch of bombs. I blame the “un friendly fire” on two things, the American zeal to get into the fight and a lack of realistic training. My entire military career I heard “train as you fight” when was it really needed it to fight as you train. We go to such extreme measures to protect the environment. Make nice with neighbors, who own land next to our training areas and strictly control exercises, it is a miracle all our casualties are not caused by friendly fire. All the training in the world doesn’t make up for taking your time and clearly identifying the target. We are actually doing better every year on this, that is one advantage to multiple deployments.

You are right of course, the Canadians do rule over their portion of afghanistan and are doing an incredible job. If my earlier post made it appear differently, chalk it up to my lack of formal education and piss poor writing style.

I have to words for Al-Qaeda: Bring. It.

The moment I saw it in my paper, I just started laughing. I'm tired of being afraid. It's pointless. Laugh at fear, my friends, and we will win this.

The sooner they attack us the better, I believe. If this happened, more people would vote for Harper, and thus he could possibly gain a majority government, and then tighten up immigration policy and do a slew other good things for this country. He can't really do much with a minority, unfortunately.

Interestingly, The Vancouver Sun didn't mention it... It was on the National Posts cover, though. Go National or go home, I say. The National Post has been very good, with writers that seem to know what they're talking about.

Canadians second-rate crusaders? Well, they're first-rate neighbors, but...

I suspect Beagle is on to something. Canadians fought well in WWII, Korea, and a few others--and if they didn't get as many of the enemy as we Americans did, it's only because their population and army are proportionately smaller. Further, Canada was a combatant in WWII much longer than the USA, thanks to its British connections. Heck, back when we Yanks believed loudly in Manifest Destiny, the Canadians (with some British help) held us off, too (War of 1812).

Whatever gripes we may have about PeeCee in Canada, Canada has certainly done some first-rate investigative and law enforcement work in the War on Terror.

If the Canadians are carrying much of the load in southern Kandahar,I pray that they will maximize Taliban and Qaeda casualties while keeping their own to a minimum. An I pray that the latest threat against Canada will prove to be a blast of hot bloviation.

Hi Ronin,

Thanks for the clarification. No offence taken and i am sorry if i grew uptigt. I just want Canadian servicemen and women to get the respect they wholeheartedly deserve. A lot of people laugh at our military but we are able to punch well above our weight class as the Islamists are finding out.

To The Voice of Truth:

Good point about an attack. It would really benefit the Harper government. He could get a majority and hopefully change some very liberal things. Right now, he is impotent and on the Bloc and NDP leash. Let the right govern!

Ronin,

Right on about Afghanistan...it is the new "forgotten war" by the politicians, civilians and media. Tragic.

Sir Oinks a lot,,
I do have one final comment about your military. I once spent a few days in a row attempting to out drink your Airborne troopers. They showed fearless determination and easily defeated my best efforts. I still grin broadly when I think of them. If anything I ever post remotely sounds offence to those men or your military it was unintentional and I humbly apologize. I’ll be back later as I have a few things to rebuild, I am not a rich American in a walled, gated community with unlimited funds and an army of workers, so I have some maintenance to do, later my friend.

Stupid idiots in downtown Vancouver protesting the war...They really have no brain, they do.

tgusa:

"...jihazi propaganda, the gift that keeps on giving." - Just like syphilis - and it needs to be treated and prevented.

I live in Toronto Canada and can tell you that Canada is hardly the bastion of christianity these muslim crazy men are saying it is. more like lapsed protestants and catholics and a whole lotta liberals. You know the crazy nutty kind that burn their bras and scream "all men are rapists". Why many of them are viet nam draft dodgers that slinked into canada and then became teachers and profs at the universities. Ahhhh but there is another Canada...

A Canada of people who think "conservative" is not a dirty word. A Canada thats loves America and the free world and the ideals of democracy (and yes Chrisitanity thank you very much).

Im sooo tired of these rat like islam terrorists. Wicked men of cowardly dispositions. Such will not inherit our lands.

I think the old Allies of WWII are all slowly waking up.

Anyway regarding the 17 muslims who tried to bomb the city some months back. Alot of them were born/raised here. They were not poor or oppressed.
They have no excuse.

I really dont give a rats ass if I offend muslim radicals out there--if you keep terrorists attacks up expect that eventually many nations will fight against you --the allies of which I speak--and in your on land. Seriously I am a peaceful guy but if it comes to this I know myself and several of my friends will sign up to personally come over to your deserts and smash you like we smashed the Nazis.

When a young boy I met an eighty year old veteran of Vimy Ridge who still had three pieces of shrapnel in his body 45 years later. Muslims like to act like they are the tough guys down there on the tropic of cancer but when they take on Canadians, I can assure them, from my aquaintance with that guy, that they are dealing with the real thing.

Ronin:

Thanks my friend. I laughed heartily at your story. Yes, we can hold our liquor as well as our ground in a fight.

Be well!

Further to Ronin's point about the Mosque being built in Calgary:

It is 48,000 square feet and will be the larghest in North America. There really aren't any in Western Canada. Do you see how savvy they are? They are placing roots everywhere.

Sadly, for Western Canadians, the Muslims are heading West to populate that area. Extend that Ummah, good Muslim!

Canada's "fanatic adherence to Christianity"?
..............

Yes, this is ridiculous.

I've said this before, though--many hard-line Muslims consider *all* Westerners to be "Jews and Christians". It doesn't matter if someone is open to "Inter-Faith Dialog", is Secular, if they have embraced Wicca or follow the Dalai Lama, they are still JooozandChristians--and Crusaders, too, if they are at all unwilling to roll over and die.

Hello,

There are a number of patriotic Canucks posting here who love their country. I appreciate your resolve to stand for this Canada.

But I caution against the right vs left thinking seen so often on JW. It doesn't do to make rifts between both freedom loving camps. We may not all agree on our politics, but I think we all agree about the internal threat to even having the freedom to disagree.

Though he has some intelligent and necessary points to make, Sir oinks a lot's rallying cry of "let the right govern" is a short-sited wishful thinking. Canadians are far too fractured at this point. Convincing both sides of the threat looming ( from each's p.o.v.) and then coalition is needed now.

It's much wiser to build bridges and common ground amongst the Canadian peoples of both ends of the political spectrum. The Right have much to bring of value, but the Left does also and believes equally in protecting individual rights to belief.

We must instead focus both sides to come together for Canada, and first dispose of the dhimmi-wits who for their own personal political advancement are selling us to demographic destruction. Never mind the terrorist bombings, that threat is not our long term concern.

Yes, we need stalwarts like Ronin describes to rise, someone willing to be the bloodhound. And we need the Conservatives who helped build this great country through honest toil and gumption. As well though we need the artists, workers and left-wing thinkers who helped shape a kinder yet strong country. We need the hard working immigrants who come here willing to work, obey the law and believe in tolerance to all.

All these forces came together to create the greatest place on earth......Canada. With respect to our other allied nations who have built wonderful and strong countries also through the formula above.

Together we will defend and protect from within.

First time here...greetings to all freedom-loving people who post on this site!

Dude you had me until I saw this "All these forces came together to create the greatest place on earth......Canada".

It is freezing up there. Why do you think I retired and moved to Florida? Greatest place on earth, I knew you guys drank the good stuff.

J/k, welcome, to the list. One thing the muslims didn’t figure on, if Canadians can survive those winters, a few million muslims will not stand a chance against them.

And Jack Layton would 'negotiate' with the Taliban - that slays me. Actually no, that would be them slaying him...

In all earnestness, I hereby challenge Al Zawahiri on behalf of all that is Canadian to play just one game in my beer hockey league to settle this.

Foreshadowing via metaphor what will happen if our country's military is ever allowed to truly drop the gloves, we win, you lose all your little fangy brown chicklet teeth and have that bump on your forehead bashed off the blue line a few hundred times.

Go Leafs go.

We do not need the left-wing thinkers. The left wing thinkers were the ones that created multiculturalism, and the PC shield that protects it, which created, and now sustains, the threat of islam in the west in the first place.

We must get rid of the Left. How to do that I don't know. They run Canada's political and cultural elite, the run the CBC, they universities, the public schools, and the publishing houses. All of that defends, or whitewashes, islam and muslims in Canada.

The Left is the enemy. Always has been, always will be. Islam has no power to threaten us without the protection that the Left affords it. Remember, that islam unto itself, is a primitive cult from a primitive and poor part of the globe. The only reason why they are allowed in, protected, allowed to build mosques from which they threaten us, is all due to the protection that the Leftists give them.

Ever heard of the ACLU? That is the epitome of the Left wing thinkers. The people who espoused the idea of personal freedom the loudest, the ACLU, are not antagonistic toward islam, but ironically, and strangely, are friendly toward islam and its draconian and murderous assault on personal freedom. How strange. The ACLU does not speak for the oppressed of islam. They are silent on it.

The women that are brutalized in islam, are not represented by the feminists on this issue, another Left wing pillar. The feminists are silent. By and large, they ignore the debauchery that is the plight of women in the muslim countries, and are evn more silent on the brutality against women in the west. Indeed, they have nothing bad to say about sharia. Some, unbelievably, have even endorsed islam. How strange.

The artists, those that would be run out out town by the muslims under Sharia, and have all their works burned, would never think a single bad thought about muslims, or any other third world immigrant. As you say, they have created a gentler Canada. The artists are completely silent on islam in the west. Indeed, every one of them probably hates Bush for sending a single soldier to kill a single muslim, terrorists or not. The artists, those intrepid, creative Leftists have nothing to say on the subject of islam. It's the judgemental Christians they despise and fret about. How strange.

The gays that are persecuted in islam, are not represented by the gay lobby, another pillar of the Left, or any gay political group on this issue. Those groups are silent. They raise bloody hell over issues like gay marriage or serving in the military, but hordes of radical muslims coming into this country wanting to bring Sharia with them, and the walls that fall on homosexuals, do not in the slightest raise their ire. They have nothing to say about. How strange.

The blacks that have been enslaved and murdered by islam in north Africa for centuries, and even today in Sudan, are not represented by the NAACP, another Left wing pillar, or any other black political group. On the question of islam's genocide of the blacks, they have nothing to say. No protests. No marches. If a white cop shoots a black suspect, watch out. Riots may ensue. But mosques opening up, that espouse an ideology as hostile to blacks as the KKK, rouses no emotion in the same black political body. No Martin Luther King to rally blacks against the invasion of America by those that would like to enslave them. Not a word. Indeed, the only blacks that get a million men to turn out for a march, are, of all things, muslims. How strange.

The pillars of the Left have never said so much as boo on the topic of islam, terrorism, and certainly would never agree to the idea that there is a connection between islam and terrorism.

So do not look to the Left for help in our fight against islam. The Left is part of the problem. We are fighting three forces to save the west from islam, from sharia, and from terrorism:

1. islam itself
2. naivete of the general public about islam
3. collusion of the Left with islam

First we deal with 3, then 2, then finally we will be able to whip number 1.

centerist your words are wise, my wish would be thats Cdn would vote in the conservative in for a majority next time, and Harper governs like a true conservative, as conservative as you can get in Canada. we have been under liberal rule too long, sliding down with trudeau, who opened the gates of hell. instead of the Federal government sending (soviet style government, take from the prosperous provinces, and send money to places that have to be held up artifically) out money to the poorer provinces, the Cdns living in poverty from the eastern provinces would be moving to Ontario, instead we get scum from cesspoolstan moving into the Toronto area. Quebec with the highest taxes in Canada, have the least amount of children, so they have to import their Fr.speaking immigrants, who are not going to blend into Fr.Cdn society because most are Algerian muslims or lebanese muslims. then all other terrorist move to Toronto, or Vancouver, west coast.
we need to cut back of social assistance, and not allow illegals and trumped up immigrants who claimed to be refugees. there was an article in the local paper, that these refugees get more welfare money than Canadian pensioners, yeah the ones who worked all their life in Cda get treated badly over the scum from cesspoolstan! so you see
l would like a "true conservative" government in Canada, first thing l would do if l were Harper would be to dismantle CBC, and CRTC both supported liberal soviet style causes in Canada, ie multiculturism!

August22,

This recent article gives me hope:

A Muslim congregation is stunned when black leaders in Pompano Beach angrily protest their building plans.

By MEG LAUGHLIN

To Centerist,

Welcome to JW/DW.

Read the post by August22 and then re-read it. He beat me to the punch!
Also, go back and read the August22 post on DhimmiWatch that relates to the Norweigan blogger who would rather die than surrender political correctness. It makes sense. We must destroy the left!!!

THE LEFT IS THE PROBLEM. ALWAYS HAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE.
You might argue that the RIGHT is wrong if you look at the Bush Administration. Bush, Condi, Rummy and the rest are liberals at heart too. Do not fool yourself. Bush is no conservative. True conservatism is dying, i fear. Bush et al are politically correct minions placating, and even arming, Islamists.

The Left in Canada gave us multiculturalism (Trudeau) and is extremely politically correct. They would howl and scream if we tried to overhaul immigration. How dare we try and curtail immigration from Islamic Republics, they would bellow!

Taliban Jack Layton wants to negotiate with the Taliban and the Liberals, the opportunistic scum bags they are, are playing politics with the Afghan mission because it isn't working too well. Now they're against it because Canadians are against it. Whichever way the wind blows it seems.

Then there was Jean Chretien...days after 9/11 Chretien flatly rebuked any consideration to review immigration policy in Canada. His arrogance disgusts me to this day.

Also, closely listen to the CBC...listen to Evan Solomon or George Strombolopolous as they bash America and their "war conquests" It is arrogant, insulting and condescending and utterly partial to the Left. I hope the CBC goes belly-up. It is becoming the equivalent of the BBC. Also, step into a University classroom and listen to a Prof on his high horse about the "evil" right and Bush-Lite (aka Harper). They are supposed to be professionals teaching us HOW TO THINK not WHAT TO THINK.

The LEFT IS THE PROBLEM and NEVER THE SOLUTION.

People gripe that we should not make this site a LEFT versus RIGHT issue. Sorry, but thanks to the idiotic policies of the LEFT (multiculturalism, political correctness, media bias, ripping the Christian/Judeo roots out of our country...etc...) we are in a predicament.

Before we can discuss solutions to Islam, we must admit there is a problem within our own house.

THE PROBLEM IS THE LEFT.

Sir Oinks, definately a good point. My prof routinely bashes Bush and Harper, which is pretty annoying, I must say. Although I don't like Bush, as he seems to be somewhat delusional of the threat of jihad and how to fight it, I get mad because he attacks Harper, who really hasn't done anything wrong. It's like he dislikes Harper because he is on the right, not because of any policy Harper actually made. That kind of thinking, in my opinion, is a very stupid way to go about things. If he could give me an actual point, a legitimate reason as to why Harper blows chunks, then I'd consider his perspective. No dice, otherwise.

Just wait till one of the jihadis insults Canadian beer. Then "Niceland" will turn into "KicksYourMuslimAssLand."

What? Was I the only one to see "Canadian Bacon"?

Ronin..I concede your point about the Cold, lol! And you're right about it toughening us up.

The old 20th century Right-Left fight is archaic now. No matter how you may wish for it, the Conservative party in Canada remains a typical petit-bourgeoise Party. The old addage of "Liberal-Tory same old story" still applies. Neither the left or right in Canada could ever lead the revolution needed to save us from the scum that you describe above; the criminals and refugee-fakes, and above all the Muzz.

It's 2006....Diefenbaker and Foster Hewitt are long gone and "you can't go home again." Multi-culturalism, same sex rights, (and the right-wing coined term "politically correct," which can also mean freedom from the intolerance of bigots and thugs and a fair shake for deserving minorities) are part of our reality these days and will not, nor should they be going away. Time to let go of the past internicine struggles and embrace a new inclusive philosophy that allows for tolerance but is absolutely ruthless vs. threats.

One significant beauty of our country is the right of people to believe in each and any point in the political spectrum. Often rightists can't handle that because they have rigid world-views and hold out a for us or against us mindset. Left = bad. Of course the Left is equally guilty of such short-sightedness.

The Left has no doubt made errors. Yes, there is collusion with Islam which is at times cynical and other times gullible, cowardly and Ostrich like. Yes, there are stereotypical silent-types and malcontents on the left, as August 22 describes. But this collusive situation is not irreversible.

Never assume that there are not leftists who feel equally threatened by Islam. Its necessary to rouse those and invite them to join in a national revolution. Don't wait for the bourgoise parties.

In short, I'm saying that energies are being wasted fighting each other. It's more important to convince and mobilize leftists rather than to denounce them and give up on them. Rather than be divisive, let's generate the will to do what is needed.

You all make interesting and valid points. Its not so hard to find consensus, if it's what you want. If you want a right-wing police state, or a soviet style state, and especially if you want a weird Asian-cult state, then you don't belong in our freedom loving Canada.

Peace through strength to all here!

Canada is a very weak link; their dislike of America will continue to lead them by benign neglect.

centerist, join the right, thzt is conservative, hey the media loves to say Harper is far right, yeah they are the ones labeling. the protests yesterday one of the speakers of course was the putrid layton.
l think Harper should appoint him to go talk to the Taliban, along with his wife, socialist should find something in common with the taliban, both love controling people. The reason the taliban are out there yaping about going after Cdns, is that the Cdn
military is hitting them hard, just heard on the news this morning, about a fire fight with the taliban. Cdn military just wiped out over 150 taliban insurgents, terrorists what ever you want to label them, they are dead. so Centerist, lean to the right, in Canada that is kind of difficult, but you will find you can actually understand who are the bad guys, and yes label them as such.

WOW, August_22, that was an absolutely fabulously worded post...

Truly, in so many ways you hit the nail right on the head.

Excellent work!

Left wingers in Canada are the problem. They to a man/woman would say Bush is more of a problem than Bin Laden.

All of their left wing causes would be crushed the moment Islam took over, however, it is the very policies of the Left, Trudeau, Chretien, Martin, now Bob Rae, that has led to the failed experiment of multiculturalism.

This will not be solved in a short period of time, the left wing controlled media in Canada will never help to try to stop the growth of Islam idiology in Canada, far from it, the CBC will do all it can to enhance it and allow it to grow.
Their pathetic announcers as mentioned above are grotesque leftist elitists with such anti-American attitudes it makes me sick to think of the unbalance.

The left is playing for keeps, and are way ahead, if they continue to win, Canada will become exactly like France, with pockets of immigrant communities at unrest against the state.
Setting up for an intafada similiar to what is now happening in France, this will be a fight for future generations.

The real battle today is to keep these left wingers from power, if we fail, then Canada will become a splintered society.

Canadian military forces are extremely professional and are doing an amazing job in Afghanistan.

The homefront however, is the long term battle for control of the direction of Canada.

What path will it be?

I recently attended a "looking ahead to high school" night hosted by the Toronto District School Board.

The first thing I noticed was that there were very few white people in the audience. (We were in the old city of Toronto, not the suburbs.)

Then, about three photos into a long slide show presentation, the number of photos featuring girls in hijabs woke me right up. I started paying attention. Almost every montage of photos had one or more photos of a girl or girls in hijabs. In contrast, I saw very few blondes.

I don't know if the people who put together this slide show were pandering to a small religious minority or if it was representative of the number of Muslim girls in Toronto schools who wear head coverings. Maybe it was a bit of both?

Haha, I think something was lost in translation and the al-q spokesperson really meant "Fanatic Leaf Fans" which I am sure there are more...

Right on about Afghanistan...it is the new "forgotten war" by the politicians, civilians and media. Tragic.

Could that be because the MSM only likes to spread "bad news" for us?

It is 48,000 square feet and will be the larghest in North America. There really aren't any in Western Canada. Do you see how savvy they are? They are placing roots everywhere.

Yeppers. they seek to have a presence everywhere. The most mufti-free nation seems to be Poland these days. Let's hope they can keep it that way. I may one day have to immigrate there so I don't have to spend my retirement around a lot of muftis.

I hope someone blows that damn mosk up.

Winston:

Statements like "they to a man/woman would say Bush is more of a problem than Bin Laden" from your posting above are risky at best since you can not interview every left wing thinker in this country to verify this, and I can tell you categorically that it is not true, even if it is still true of far too many on the Left.

I agree with the criticism of the Left to a large extent, as it is more compromised than the right by misguided mutlicult sympathies and Islamophilism, but the Right should not be let off the hook either. Cheap labour, a powerful motivator for the Free Market ideologies the Right is so enamored of has also been at the root of our Islamic problem and other immigration woes, and Corporate marketeering is just as much behind PCism as anything that Socialists and Social Democrats have hawked. Look at the way advertising panders these days to homosexuals, other minorities and women. Something about "niche marketing" strategies of increasingly globalizing business corporations and other darlings of the Right. And don't overlook the history of ideological struggle over the last hundred years, how easily even the extremes of Right and Left not only have frequently snuggled up with one another (alliances between Communists and Fascists for example, such as the Nazi-Soviet non-aggression pact) and even crossed over to the opposing camps.

The lesson that we should learn from this is that Left and Right are both part and parcel of a single body politic, just as in a healthy person, emotion and rationality support and balance one another. Each needs the other and its insights to keep itself honest, and in the past, in some of the better days in the history of parliamentary democracy, both sides understood this. The Left of today is, for the most part, morally bankrupt and completely compromised and I agree that it deserves to be sidelined, but God forbid that there should be NO Left. In another thread someone pointed out that the ideas that come from the Right create the ideas and conditions that allow for progress, and the Left merely comes along later and complains that things are not developing quickly enough. There is some truth in this but even if its role is merely to agitate the Left is necesary to the Right because without it the Right usually does NOT progress. Had there been no Left - no labour unions, no women's movement, no social programs and social safety net, no universal health care, all of these being things that the Right and the interests it represented resisted mightily in the past - conditions in this country would be appalling.

Do any of you who are so ready to bash "the Left" indiscriminately consider, or even know anything about the appalling conditions that have existed in the past in workplaces and in the streets when the powers that be in the Free Market went unchallenged and dictated terms to everyone else - their workers, their customers, the community and the environment? Do you consider how many people died needlessly or were reduced to sheer penury, to financial bankruptcy and abject poverty because the sick - people who deserve our Christian compassion and respect - and other victims of misfortune were considered acceptable sacrifices to the evil god of "profit" for some "niche" in the marketplace, rather than as persons whose plight invites us to exercise higher values like compassion, solidarity and concern for one's neighbor? The Right did a tremendous service to the West in developing the Free Market and its powerful capitalist economy, but without the Left it alone would never have developed a prosperous society, much less any humanity, but only stagnated and produced more and more appalling conditions. Historically, this can be seen in many parts of Latin America, where a harsh and extremist Right typically succeeded in suppressing the democratic Left, so that the only Left that could perdure was the Marxist insurgencies.

What is needed is not the abolition of the Left that some are calling for here, but a new Left that understands its debt to the Right and seeks to prompt the Right to reciprocate for the public good, over and above petty partisan and ideological squabbling. This is not impossible to imagine and there may already be signs that it is starting to come about. The recent rumblings from Britains left wing - Labour - government about the niqab, the debate about Islam and other signs of their recognition of the limits of multi-culturalism indicate that the Left may be starting to reconsider its previous assumptions. Hopefully this will be a conscientious and principled reappraisal, not just a cynical attempt at damage control. Time alone will tell, but what I can say for sure is that I personally know left of centre people who are in total agreement with Robert, Hugh, and many of the views of those who post here at Jihadwatch. It remains to be seen whether this realignment, if it gathers steam, will be welcomed as it should be by those posting here, or whether August22, Zena, Sir Oinks and others who seem to delight in pillorying the Left will, as I half expect they may, only scream all the louder against Left the more it joins the anti-Jihadist struggle. Whether that happens or not depends on whether defeating Jihad is really the paramount value, or just another excuse to browbeat the Left.

templar.

It is true that 100 years ago, pre first world war, some of the capitalists had little concern for their workers and for the state of their fellow country men. Much has changed, and much has stayed the same. Greed is good as Gordon Gecko stated in the movie Wall Street... Common sense is better.
The difference in health care, and general quality of life has risen dramatically for westeren society, the welfare state has provided a safety net that has become very easy to take advantage of. And believe me, it has been taken advantage of. Political correctness has quashed any reasonable discussion on just what and who the west as a whole should be letting in.

Of course you can not let off the Right on these issues, but by far, as you have stated, the left is compromised... and I suggest a naive partner in these geopolitical consequences that are now being reaped.

Bye god I would not want to interview every left winger in Canada and America, I would rather jump out of a one story building... plus it would take about 1000 man years or more, now I'm going to have nightmares of interviewing Bob Rae, Jack Layton, Pierre Trudeau, oh the thought.

We can split hairs all we want, as I have just done... however, we still have an elephant in the room and at some point we (yes the left and the right) will have to deal with it.

How? I don't know.

LOL. Well, thanks for the laughs Winston. I think you and I see eye to eye about things. I'm going to be voting Right this time, that's for sure, while I wait for the Left (not in vain I hope) to clean up its act.

Take care.

templar l agree with Rush, we should keep at least on univ. proff. on the left, just to point out how dangerous they can be when left on their own to populate the college campuses.. lol.. actually the right in Canada, is not even comparable to the right in the US. What gets me the most upset, at the left, is that they have given up their ideals of freedoms for women's rights, even the gay community sides with the palis. given these two groups would be first on the chopping block of any islamist government. this layton jackass makes me go bonkers if l have to listen to him, he is all show, no substance, and we allow the likes of him to actually enter the govenment! l thought l was very cordial to centerist asking her to join the conservative crowd. we all need to work together. l think the left is bending over to backwards to accomodate all, and not be judgemental, that they have lost all credibility in their own just causes, that is freedoms for all equal under the law.

I agree with you completely on this, Zena. And, like you, I can't stand Jack Layton. Based on the way I've seen him wiggle out of hard questions about policy matters, I consider him an slippery, conniving little snake in the grass.

A big part of my intent in making the kind of comments I've posted above is just to maintain enough of an opening to the Left to ensure that those of them out there who are honest and willing to acknowledge the stupidity of their movement's current policies, and shake off their intellectual laziness, will not be deterred from watching this sight and learning from its articles.
