I see dhimmitude still rampant there, particularly in the UK (check out Dhimmi Watch, which lately has practically become Dhimmitude In the UK Watch), but Youssef Ibrahim sees signs that Europe is waking up to the depth of its own crisis. From the New York Sun, with thanks to Kaosktrl:
After years of dithering over political correctness with Muslims and Islam, Europe is waking up to a different morning.A three-week tour of Italy, France, and Britain last month was enough for me to conclude that Western Europeans have moved way beyond dialogue. Confrontation, indeed even provocation, is their preferred approach to the Muslims in their midst.
Long before Pope Benedict XVI's scathing comments in mid-September on the fallacy of phony Muslim-Christian dialogue, signs of hardening European views toward current Islamic values were plentiful on the Continent.
It was telling, for example, to see how Europeans greeted the naïve commentary that surfaced in America's National Intelligence Estimate, titled "Trends in Global Terrorism: Implications for the United States." The NIE told bemused Europeans, among other things, that "greater pluralism and more responsive political systems in Muslim majority nations would alleviate some of the grievances jihadists exploit."
Situated closer than America to that rough neighborhood called the Middle East, Europeans reacted by noting that the chances for "greater pluralism" in any Muslim country are about as plausible as hell freezing over.
Read it all.
Further proof that these people need to be pitied and their governments scorned. Now they need to change their governments and get rid of the EU.
Truly despairing where the police force over here is concerned, but I liked that NYS article. Especially the last line:
"The dialogue is over. The time for action is closing in."
Maybe Europe is waking up, but the article would have been more convincing if it had cited specific individuals instead of "Europeans". One is left to wonder who in Europe is waking up. The French? (ha!)
Directly confronting the Islamic political ideology is what is necessary to win this "war of ideas". I hope the article is right and we see more skepticism and less tolerance for Islamic extremism from our European friends.
Basically, every normal European who has been confronted with the yelling jihadists and their offspring (er, "youths"), knows quite well that it is us or them. Moonbats and gramscian politicians don't count - they will never learn, until their throats get slit.
Current mood is between fear and uneasy waiting for the inevitable Big Bang - which will happen probably before 2010.
Since most of the Europeans do not have a place to run and hide to, they will fight back when pressed to the wall. When the local fascist parties lift the banners, it will get very ugly - kinda Lebanon in 1970's (especially the Germans are good in organizing anything into perfect details, including, alas, mass murder). But probably the fight will not last as long as there, since the local Mo's will not be able to get enough reinforcements and supplies over the Mediterranean as easy as over land borders. Maybe a few cities will get nuked, if the Mo soldiers in a regular army get a grip on Fwench/British nuclear missiles.
Sad to write this about the continent I live ... would not think of that 10 years ago.
"Europeans now see a need not to massage the Muslim ethos but to remove it. One can talk forever of the necessity for Islam to reform itself, but that fails to resonate within Muslim societies, Europeans tell me."
Islam has been perfected for muslims
Shirk is worse than killing.

If only it were true.
If the rubber does not meet the road soon, Europe is lost.
Skepticism on the part of Europeans is not enough. Unfortunately, their thinking is mudddled due to their abandonment of religion and Truth. Europe needs to be re-evangelized in the Christian faith to be effective at combatting this invasion.
Europeans are tired of being pushed around by Muslims in their midst.
There's a wonderful, out-of-print movie that's a favorite of Navy Seals due to its extreme accuracy in depicting an anti-terrorist assault. I'm referring to the British movie: "The Final Option." If you can find this movie it will be well worth your while to see it.
Don't underestimate the Brits. The wonderful sangre-froi and stiff upper lip of the intelligence services is a cover for a cast iron resolve.
We will yet see the muzlim ass-kicking we've been waiting for.
Europe needs to be re-evangelized in the Christian faith to be effective at combatting this invasion.

Well, I reckon that's God's plan.
Scare the world to its senses and clear away the dead wood.
Prior to 9/11, I was a lapsed Catholic.
9/11 woke me up to return to Christianity.
Before 9/11 I was kind of lost in a hazy, grey fog of relativism.
When there's no focal point to provide a moral reference, there's no 'good' or 'bad' - everything's just 'different'.
Christianity provides a moral point of reference making eveything a lot clearer.
Now I can see so much more garbage out there that previously I was oblivious to.
Without God in our lives we really are blind.

It may already be too late for Europe, although I would expect the British, at least, to put up a good fight.
If Europe is waking up to the threat of Islam taking over, let's hope the United States and Canada will take note ! Not enough people over here take this issue seriously.
It is good news to hear that Europeans are waking up, but like the article says, it's time for action. The changes are going to have to come from the ground up, from the people themselves. Their leaders, media and elites have already sold them down the river. They need to vote those bums out, otherwise, it's gonna take direct action by the people with unimaginable consequences.
And it would help if they started appreciating their culture and history.
This truth has been known when talking to the ordinary European. several years ago, l spoke with people l knew from Sweden, Netherlands, etc. and all said how muslims were cheating the system, go away with murder, ie honour killings, they just felt disconnected with their government. their government is taking over eveypart of their lives, and last year with the "no" vote woke up a lot people and the government elites have to understand who really has the power, its the regular European working class stiff, they will save their countries again.
Europe will not fall as a whole the way I see it. A few countries will go into civil war and then this boil will be lanced, but at a very high cost.
People never learn.
It may already be too late for Europe, although I would expect the British, at least, to put up a good fight.

Pardon Monsieur??? You expect the British to put up a good fight?? Please come and live here for just one day and you will see how this PC country will be the first in western Europe to fall to Islam. They bend over backwards here to accommodate and appease this minority of only 2%. You sometimes actually wonder who is in charge - the Muslims or Blair, or I'm not sure...maybe Blair has converted already. I know Prince Charles is pretty keen on conversion, although I don't think he quite understands yet what Muslims do to adulterers. I will hopefully have found some other place to live, even if it means living in a boat in the middle of the ocean before Europe is conquered by Islam.
"Maybe Europe is waking up, but the article would have been more convincing if it had cited specific individuals instead of "Europeans". One is left to wonder who in Europe is waking up. The French? (ha!)"
Actually it is the French who will probably be the first ones to wake up. The Intifada has already started in the 'banlieus'. And I think Nicholas Sarkozy will be a tough president if elected.
Good to hear of this. So, what is Iran doing again? And, you say they want more talks?
Rest assured, Europe will be destroyed. The Prague fiasco (plan by Muslims of Jewish pogrom) of is too recent to be forgotten.
Unless USA elects a conservative President from the Republican Party in 2008, such as former House speaker Newt Gingrich, America will be destroyed.
By taking advantage of the open-borders, US-Saudi Arabia cuddly relationships slick and greasy with oil, many Muslims from middle-east have settled in USA, and have bred well. They have already passed on the Wahabi poison to the US soil while the naive Americans ate the hamburger, drank ale and reveled and danced. The evil ideology (Islam) was planted and laid eggs. Now the chicks are coming home to roost.
Thus prophesized Nostradamus:
"We shall see bloody riots ending in decapitation of ordinary non-Muslim US citizens, just because they maybe eating pork chops in a restaurant nearing a Mosque in Brooklyn. Or maybe some journalist with the NYT or Washington Post would get killed or his/her office firebombed. And former heads of state like Carter, Clinton would continue to decry US policies against Islam and create more division and obfuscation. Immigration of Muslims to USA would increase and hence the subsequent political power-play by Muslims would increase and expand, with devastating results for USA. The waters of the Atlantic would tremble and the color of the Hudson river would turn crimson. There will be much plague and terror shall descend from the skies."
Hmmmm, Mohammed bin Kafir Abu Jahal,
Did Nostrodamus actually use those words? Did he say "Clinton" and "Carter"? Can you please provide us with a link or source?
This article is surely good news. However, I would feel more assured if there were a European version of the Minutemen -- average folks who won't put up with the elite plans for multicultural immigration and globalization.
You can't depend on elites to set things right -- they are the ones who opened the European borders in the first place.
Where are the average people!?
The Arab News (for me a local paper) has recently had a constant stream of articles of Muslims calling for a dialogue with the West.
Unfortunately, that is NOT what they really want. They do not want a bilateral exchange of ideas. What they want is to be able to say, "Islam is a relgion of Peace." and have us nod our heads in agreement. They want to be able to say, "Islam is a religion of tolerance." and have us nod our heads in agreement. They want to be able to say, "Islam is a religion of respect for women." and have us nod our heads in agreement.
They do NOT want to hear us ask, "But what about ... ?" or "How do you explain ____?"
"Good to hear of this. So, what is Iran doing again? And, you say they want more talks? "
EU leaders will probably choose appeasement with Iran, but that does not mean that the French, for example, will tolerate any intifada in the 'banlieus'. EU works with the consensus principle, which means that the official statements of EU leaders are always watered down.
Chirac, of course, is one of the worst presidents France has ever had, but his successor (if it is Sarkozy) will be tougher.
Jihad on the streets of France is not a new phenomenon, but has been going on for a while now ever since the democratically elected islamist government was ousted in Algeria.
And because France has the largest muslim population in Europe, it is logical that they will wake up first.
"Europe needs to be re-evangelized in the Christian faith to be effective at combatting this invasion."
Nonsense, what we need to do is revive our faith in reason, whether accompanied by Christian faith or not -- it's not lack of religion that is the problem, it's complacency, post-colonial guilt and political correctness. We're not fighting atheists.
We're not fighting atheists. from a comment above.
Sure we are... The liberal PC defnders of Islam are mostly atheists. Mr Fitzgarled and the late Orina Fallaci are indeed vrare examples of pro-Westeren anti-jihad atheists.
"We're not fighting atheists. from a comment above.
Sure we are..." from a comment above
But we're not fighting them because they're atheists, we're fighting them because they're wrong. And they're not wrong because they're atheists. Look, opposition to jihad ideology has NOTHING to do with religion.
Well, I reckon that's God's plan.
Scare the world to its senses and clear away the dead wood.

All I hear is the sound of one verse from a song:
"That's the way God planned it.
That's the way God wants it to be."
Before 9/11, I was a lapsed Catholic and I remain a lapsed Catholic. I haven't lost my belief in God or in Catholic dogma, merely my love for Him. The sight of artists being stabbed in the street and nuns being shot in the back does nothing to make me want to return to the fold. Is God allowing evil to gain the upper hand before He sets out to destroy it? What about the innocent God-fearing people who are destroyed in the process and the centuries of suffering that God's plan has wrought?
Remember the next time you're in church:
Mohammad was part of God's plan.
9/11 was part of God's plan. (What had those office workers or airline passengers done? They were innocent pawns in God's game. What about the firemen? They went in to save their fellow man and were killed. God killed them all.)
Those British Muslims who came out of prayers armed with baseball bats and pitchforks are part of God's plan.
It looks like it's part of God's plan to destroy the West with its own weapon: the atomic bomb. Why else are Iranians acquiring it?
I envy you your faith. Mine left me long ago. God tests your faith every day. Here's hoping you continue to meet the test.

.... so, why is the government not representing the ordinary people? The reason is that given the system, government is made of career politicians, rather than statesmen, who will stop at nothing, including selling-out their country, for wealth and votes. In other words, once elected, politicians don't care for the electorate. What is worse is that after getting elected, those same corrupt politicians have the machinary fo the government to abuse for wealth and votes. Often times, doing quite the opposite of what is in the electrorate's and country's interest.
The Arab News (for me a local paper) has recently had a constant stream of articles of Muslims calling for a dialogue with the West.

.. that is a keen observation. More often than not, 'inter-faith dialogues' are a platform to intimidate non-muslims as it is mroe of a monologue dictating muslim demands., hardly a 'dialogue'.
"Dialogues" are a complete waste of time. They are means by which Muslim spokesmen have a further opportunity at taqiyya-and-tu-quoque, inveigle the Infidels in the audience, so many of them gulls wanting to be gulled, and to prevent or delay, the recognition of what the belief-system is all about, and how this soothing business of the "three abrahamic faiths" and the "three monotheisms" obscures the main point -- the point that Islam divides the world between believers and Infidels, and there must be constant warfare, not necessariy requiring military combat when other instruments (the "wealth" weapon, well-financed and ruthless campaigns of Da'wa, demographic conquest) are available, until such time as Islam dominates everywhere, and everywhere Muslims rule.
If you are a Christian or a Jew, you have nothing whatever to fear from Hindus though Hinduism is neither one of the "three great monotheisms" nor "one of the abrahamic faiths." You have everything to fear from adherents of the belief-system we call Islam.

I'm no expert on God's exact plans for the entire creative process but I reckon one needs to break a few eggs to make an omelette.
Can there be any creativity without contrast?
Can a painter create a masterpiece using one color?
Suffering seems to play a major part in God's creative omelette.
After all, he sent part of himself, in his own Son Jesus Christ, to be crucified for love of us.
Many of the Catholic Churches saints suffered terribly.
Imagine if you were God.
If everything was available to you and you wanted to prove your love in the most telling way, what would be the currency of your love?
God chose suffering through Christ on the cross.
Whay would we mere mortal humans expect to be treated better than God's Son, Jesus Christ.
