How misguided and stupid we have been but things are changing. More people know it's Islam that's the problem than ever before. We have to keep pressing the issue and getting the word out until even well-intentioned pollyanna idiots that teach in the West Bank begin choose more worthy places to contribute. So many places in the world need people like Mr. Phillips and would not mistreat him.

The irony, is that not only are they kidnapped by those people whom they ideologically support, but that even after being brutalized by them, they continue to support them if they are ever released.

The only reason why a westerner would go to a place like that, instead of a hundred other places on the planet, is because they support the cause of the ummah, not because they are humanitarians. There are no humanitarians on the Left, only operatives. The Left has brutalized a hundred million people in the last century. They care not for humanity. When someone like this puts his nose into a place like that, he is making a political statement - not a humanitarian one.

The Left is so evil, they will support the very people that will behead them. And not just before they are kidnapped, but while the beheading is taking place.

There are plenty of left-wing Christians! In fact, in the West the left-wing enemy pretty much controls organized Christianity. These are the people who demand that the West surrender and submit to Islam.

There are many liberals within all Christian denominations, but I wouldn't catagorize it as "being in the hands of the liberal enemy." Many Protestants; Episcopaleans, Lutherans, Anglicans are conservative in their values. And as far as the Roman Catholic Church, although the leadership may be seen as "bleeding hearts", so was Jesus Christ, and this is where all Christian "liberalism" stems from. Their moral character though, is usually conservative, mostly staunch.

There are ofcourse the winged branches of "Christianity" which claim all the super American Liberalism; multi-culturalism, homosexuality, abortion, etc... But they are not the leadership of "organized Christianity."

Michael Leighton Phillips is one of those poor souls who believes that they are above us ordinary proletarians. They are smarter and have a higher moral attitude than we do. I know because one of 'em told me so back in the 60s.
It was MLP's idea to go to Nablus, let him stew a while. However, if he survives this he'll probably be one of those "Stockholm Syndrome" types. I also have become so cynical these last few years that I do not believe in the psychobabble that describes hostages who more than likely had sympathetic opinions to begin with.

The more "idealistic" Westerners travel to Dar al Islam, the more we will hear stories of kidnappings and executions, and the more Western and Israeli forces will be put in harm's way trying to rescue them.

Mr. Leighton was apparently released today. I don't have any more details, but he looks uninjured. I agree that he's a compleat idiot, but I'm glad that he's safe.
