Sheik blasts judges over rapists

Even though the notorious Sheikh Al-Hilali, who blamed women for their own rape, has taken a leave of absence, things are getting worse in Australia. You see, Australian judges discriminate against Muslim rapists -- which charge is an attempt to lessen rape sentences in Australia, as part of the larger makeover of Australian society after the pattern of Islamic law. An update by Cameron Stewart and Richard Kerbaj in The Australian, with thanks to Rosie:

THE leader of Australia's most radical Islamic group has fuelled the Taj al-Din al-Hilaly controversy by accusing Australian judges of discriminating against Muslim rapists.

As Sheik Hilaly yesterday took "indefinite leave" from preaching after a "heart attack", The Australian can reveal Melbourne cleric Sheik Mohammed Omran told his flock on Friday that rapes committed by Australian non-Muslims - such as "bikies" or "football stars" - were treated more leniently than those committed by Muslims.

"I feel there is no justice here. Not 60 years and someone else three years and they did the same crime. Why?" Sheik Omran told worshippers at his Brunswick mosque.

"They make a big fuss about these kids because one of them, his name is Mohamed. Even if you kill someone you don't go for 60 years," he said, referring to Sydney's 2000 gang rapes in which Lebanese Muslim Bilal Skaf was initially sentenced to 55 years jail, but later had the sentence reduced on appeal.

"This is where I think everything has gone unbalanced," Sheik Omran said. "We don't support criminals or crimes, but at same time we want justice for everyone."

Sheik Omran strongly defended the besieged mufti, who until yesterday had defiantly resisted demands from Muslims and the wider community to step aside for likening women to uncovered meat and suggesting rape victims should be held responsible for enticing attackers....

Sheik Omran, one of the country's most outspoken and controversial fundamentalist clerics, said on Friday that attacks on Sheik Hilaly were attacks on Islam.

"His name is a mufti and we should respect that name - we should respect the turban on his head," Sheik Omran said in the sermon, an audio copy of which was posted on his Ahlus Sunnah Wal-Jamaah Association website yesterday. "This is the sign of a scholar - you are not attacking Sheik Taj here, you are attacking the scholars, you are attacking Islam."

Sheik Omran has said bin Laden was a good man and the US, rather than the al-Qaeda leader, was behind the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

"They make a big fuss about these kids because one of them, his name is Mohamed."

said the people who are known to rape just girls called kimberly

Meanwhile, in Egypt, the cherished pearls of Islam suffered their male coreligionists' Eid celebrations:

Unfortunately, some of the celebrants misunderstood Islam and not even the "covered meat" was safe.

the link is interesting, this girl says

"Who to blame? I'll go with law enforcement. "

she never blames islam even tho she adds

"Egypt's criminal code provides for numerous avenues of protection against assault, sexual harassment, and even unpleasant language. However, these felonies are rarely prosecuted and even more rarely reported. A woman must have witnesses or physical evidence to even file a charge. "

enough said

and consider that egypt is a police state, but the sort of islamic police that doesn't punish rapists.

from another egyptian blogger

"- Who or what created wild beasts out of the Egyptians ?
- Why can't these people understand Islam ? the incidents just a day after Ramadan !!!!!!!!"

there is NO HOPE

they don't understand that the problem IS islam.

I wipe my you-know-what with his turban. Why are these guys still in AUS if the government is so tough over there??!!

From Australia’s laws categorizing treasonous acts. A person is guilty of treason if he does one of a number of things; item (f) is applicable:

(f) engages in conduct that assists by any means whatever, with intent to assist:
(i) another country; or
(ii) an organization; that is engaged in armed hostilities against the Australian Defence Force

from the article:

Sheik Omran has said bin Laden was a good man and the US, rather than the al-Qaeda leader, was behind the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

The Cat-Sheik with the heart condition has openly supported the Jihadis in Afganistan and Iraq. Am I missing something?

VLAD Dracula had the right kind of respect for the turban:

When the envoys of the musulman-empire came to demand the Jiziyah he had the turbans nailed to their heads....

Very unfortunate that we don't show this kind of resolve when it comes to dealing with our enemy...

Any criticism of any Muslim at any time for any reason is always an "attack on Islam."

And of course, you know what happens when "Islam is attacked"...

Damn, I really wish we could Islam...Go back in time, bomb Muhammad. Hehehe, now that would be justice!

Robert, you should be highlighting the story of what happened in Cairo. It is unbelievable.

Take note: Al-Hilaly is an Egyptian. If this mob mentality at Eid is an indication of how Egyptians see women, then the problem is endemic in the Egyptian culture.

I have been very strong in my own comments about rape in other posts, and I say again that I do not accept the rape of any woman. The case that is getting attention was one where the victim was attacked in a very vicious assault upon her body. Bilal Skaf was the ringleader of the gang who raped the girls. It was not because his name was "Mohammed" that he got the sentence. It was the nature of the crime.

Other men have been incarcerated for life because of rape/murder crimes. The Skaf sentence is no worse than the sentence received by those who raped and murdered Janine Balding. The punishment did fit the crime.

I have already mentioned that my cousin was kidnapped, raped and murdered by a man who was putting the hard word upon her. Well, I have another story. A young boy, I think he was 12 at the time, was kidnapped off the street, raped and murdered by an unknown assailant (who is still at large). This happened in West Australia. I read about the incident when it happened, and then a few months later, I found out that the boy had been our next door neighbour prior to the family moving to the northern part of Australia. The family were Scots immigrants.

It is just as bad when a young boy is kidnapped and raped, as when a girl is kidnapped and raped. When that person is caught, he should also receive a very stiff prison sentence, such that he will never be allowed on the streets again.

Then there is the backpacker murderer. He is another who should never be allowed out of prison because of the nature of the crime. Skaf is as bad as this man because of the nature of the attacks on the girls.

Now that these other imams have spoken out, I hope that the Muslim association will take action against them. The Lebanese Muslim Association have done the right thing to distance themselves from al-Hilaly. Will they do the same with these other two?

Nah, y'all are all wrong, blaming islam, the weak and pathetic muslim male ego, the Egyptian 'authorities', etc etc...

C'mon folks!

It's the Jooooooos!!!

sheik yer'mami, funny you should mention Vad Dracul AKA Vlad the Impaler. He was a sadistic, torturing bastard but his countymen, to this day, revere him. I always wondered why this is so but after some research I realized, his brutal tactics kept the Muslim Turks from taking over his people and he helped Eastern Europe as a whole in fighting them off. It looks like Dracula himself was a better overlord than Muslims are.

Fair enough, he's right about one thing - all rapists should be punished harshly. While I applauded the 55-year sentence given to Bilal Skaf, I was still aware that this was the longest sentence for rape I'd ever been aware of.

Omran is a fool and dangerous, but it appears from media images that his followers only number a couple of dozen. Nevertheless, he is adept at sparking controversy - notice he adopts the time-honoured defence of "this is an attack against Islam" - read: You're ignorant.

I'm sure he and Cat Meat Alhilali will wear out their welcomes soon as far as the Immigration Department is concerned. One can only hope.

Maggie4Life, I agree with most of your posting, except for your implied assertion that a life sentence means "life" - it in fact generally means 14 years, though there are some adjustments depending on the nature of the crime. Even so, taking into account parole and time served before sentencing, many rapists and murderers can be back on the streets within a few short years.

How long before some bleeding hearts demand the release of Martin Bryant? You can see it in Britain, with people campaigning for the release of the "Moors Murderers" (Brady and Hindley). The problem is that people lose perspective after a couple of decades. I can see future campaigns for Skaf and Milat, too. What a shame society is so weak.

"I'm sure he and Cat Meat Alhilali will wear out their welcomes soon as far as the Immigration Department is concerned. One can only hope."

You can thank Paul Keating for the fact that we cannot deport Al-Hilaly. Chris Hurford signed the deportation papers and he was overruled by someone in the Cabinet. Lakemba is in the Bankstown electorate.

"We don't support criminals or crimes, BUT at same time we want justice for everyone"

You've gotta love that "BUT".

"His name is a mufti and we should respect that name - we should respect the turban on his head," Sheik Omran said in the sermon...

"Sheik" Hilali's supporters delivered flowers to the
hospital - I'm tempted to send him a packet of Whiskettes. :)

I read the link posted by Marwan'sDaughter:

"The young men surrounded them completely and a large number of them pressed against the girls and removed the veils they were wearing, and attempted to remove their ebayas..."

So even if you're wearing the veil you're not safe. The comment one rocket scientist made to someone that they were "blonde, and foreign, and this is what happens" was lovely too. Perhaps we should make rapists dress up as a woman and walk thru Cairo at Eid. If Kevin Aucoin were still alive I'd say let him work on the sheik and make him walk the Eid plank too.
