Somalia's new ruling jihadists have declared an inner spiritual struggle against Ethiopia. "Somali Islamists declare ’jihad’ on Ethiopia," from Reuters, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:
MOGADISHU - Somalia’s powerful Islamists today declared holy war against Horn of Africa rival Ethiopia, which they accused of invading Somalia to help the government briefly seize a town controlled by pro-Islamist fighters.Both sides confirmed the takeover of Buur Hakaba, the first military counter-strike by President Abdullahi Yusuf’s interim government since the Islamists took Mogadishu in June and went on to seize much of Somalia’s south.
“Starting from today, we have declared jihad against Ethiopia,” Islamist leader Sheikh Sharif Ahmed told a news conference, while wearing combat fatigues and clutching an AK-47 assault rifle.
Ahmed, usually viewed as a more moderate voice among the Islamists, appeared angry as he addressed reporters.
What? A jihadist angry? And a moderate, yet! It's unheard of!
“Heavily armed Ethiopian troops have invaded Somalia. They have captured Buur Hakaba. History shows that Somalis always win when they are attacked from outside,” he said.The Islamists and residents of Buur Hakaba, seen as a potential flashpoint because it had put the Islamists within 30km of the interim government’s base in Baidoa, said Ethiopian troops accompanied government fighters who took over the town early today.
A government militia commander in Buur Hakaba denied that, and Addis Ababa has consistently said it has not sent any soldiers except for military advisers.
Transfer aid from the "Palestinians" and Egypt to the non-Muslim countries of black Africa now engaged in fighting the forces of Islam. Support Ethiopia to the hilt.
And do not, for god's sake, admit any more Somali "refugees" into this country, whether to Minneapolis, where they are busily organizing and voting for Ellison, or in Lewiston, Maine, where just a few years ago the Mayor was hounded as a monster for daring to suggest that the influx of Somalis was bankrupting the city, and depriving native Mainers (Maine is a poor state) of aid that they needed. But he was right. He was understating, for those Somali immigrants need a level of support, though they never paid into the system, and with their wives (and sometimes hidden wives) and many children (Somali cabdrivers will boast of how they or their friends can fiddle the system, can hide a wife or two), tax the system of benefits, local and state, beyond what anyone ever contemplated. Start making policy that is based on a clear understanding that adherents of Islam are bearers of an alien and a hostile creed, and that the more such adherents there are, the more difficult -- automatically -- life becomes for the indigenous Infidels, and for other, non-Muslim immigrants, as well.

I guess those Italians who came in in the 1890s and stayed until 1960, and the English and French and Ethiopians who carved up all Somali-inhabited lands, were all peacefully invited in? Even by the standards of wartime rhetoric, this man is grotesque. He makes Comical Ali sound reasonable and well-informed.

Seriously though, it was only a matter of time before the crazies wanted to renew their old war against Ethiopia. Of course now it's in the guise of saving their souls. I agree-quit wasting money on the Palestinian thugocracy and send it where it's needed. There's no question at all here about who the good guys are.
It's all Bush's fault, you know. Muslims were once peaceful citizens, then post-Bush they started to take on the whole world (the West, India, Thailand, Africa, etc). If Bush hadn't attacked Iraq, 9/11 wouldn't have occured! It's true!
There is nothing violent in Islam, they are just reacting to the West. You know, the West: USA, Europe, Oz, NZ, Ethiopia.
So what about Rasta? Where do they stand? As the 'lost tribe' of the Jews should they not support the rights and freedoms of the Ethiopian People?

Maybe if we're real good, Addis Ababa will take pity on us -- the One, the Only, Last Great Super Power in the World -- and send a couple of Ethiopian Army advisors to Rumy's office to show him how its done.
They managed to take Buur Hakaba. They can tell him how to take Bagdad. He doesn't have a clue.
Oh, I forgot...Rumy doesn't like to take advise from anybody. He likes to intimidate... Must be the big ego.

I picture Rumy in his big, big Pentagon office, down on the floor, the carpet, on his hands and knees, playing war with little toy soldiers. A Navy man playing Army on the floor.
I've been in both. There is a difference.

The real Rastafarians would stand up to this jihad in a heartbeat. But in reality the so called "Rastafarians" of today are more interested in freeing Mumia Abu Jamal than mounting support for their own motherland.
Half of today's so-called "Rastafarians" are dread-locked, hackey sack-kicking white guys in Portland and Seattle trying to hock hemp-cloth shopping bags in city parks. Rastafarianism these days to too many means nothing more than smoking pot at a Burning Man drum circle. I wouln't count on a significant number of them even knowing that something is going on in Ethiopia, let alone what it may be about.
