A paratrooper wounded in Afghanistan was threatened by a Muslim visitor to the British hospital where he is recovering.Seriously wounded soldiers have complained that they are worried about their safety after being left on wards that are open to the public at Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham.
On one occasion a member of the Parachute Regiment, still dressed in his combat uniform after being evacuated from Afghanistan, was accosted by a Muslim over the British involvement in the country.
"You have been killing my Muslim brothers in Afghanistan," the man said during a tirade.
Because the soldier was badly injured and could not defend himself, he was very worried for his safety, sources told The Daily Telegraph.
A relative of the Para said the man had twice walked on to the ward where two other soldiers and four civilians were being treated without once being challenged by staff.
"It's not the best way to treat our returning men," he said. "They are nervous that these guys might attack them and, despite being paratroopers, they cannot defend themselves because of their injuries."
The Ministry of Defence, which said that it had no record of threatening incidents, indicated that there was a military security presence at the hospital and it co-operated closely with local police.
Stories like these make me wonder if maybe we should pull the troops out and let these idiots finish off one another.

This all started back in the 1980's when the military hospitals were being shut down to save money. The people that closed the hospitals were never ever likely to use them so they didn't think it through properly.
I would like to help the Muslim who approached the soldier book a bed in the hospital. He just needs to come in and have another go.
The Bassam Tibi interview in Der Spiegel (linked to in a posting above) is telling. Note, that when asked how many of the 3 million odd Muslims in Germany might possibly accept what he, Bassam Tibi, argues all Muslims must, at a bare minimum, accept if they are to be tolerated by Infidels, he replies that in his view that there may be, just possibly, a "few thousand."
I am really really upset to hear this story. Why don't the police or hospital act? This is unacceptable.

My youngest brother is a medical doctor. I can't drop him in it here (UK) because he's emigrated.
One night when he was a junior and on night duty at a Midlands hospital, he was sat at the nurse's desk in a ward catching up on paperwork. All of a sudden, into the ward wlked an old Asian bloke who could speak no English, two young Asian men who could speak no English, and a young Asian women (the wife of one of the men, it turned out) who could speak only broken English. She dropped a big x-ray folder on the desk. Inside it was a set of x-rays and a prescription list. Nothing was said by anyone.
My brother took a look at the x-rays and immediately called an isolation - an old woman in a private side ward had to be moved into the open ward for this old bloke. The tracer had to be called in and immediately get to work. He was one big mass of TB, and the x-rays were dated just three days earlier - in Bombay (sorry, I don't mean to offend our Indian readers, but facts are facts).
The tracer had to retrace the route they'd followed through the hospital - get any potential contacts checked, trace all the family and their contacts (in Manchester, as it happened, though the hospital wasn't), then she had to go through the airline and trace everyone who'd been on the aeroplane - a 747 - lot of people sharing the same air for twelve hours, if you know how an aircraft A/C works. She had to trace desk staff at the airprt, customs, immigration staff - everyone he came into contact with on his way from Bombay to this hospital.
They hadn't bothered going to see a GP, hadn't even bothered going to casualty or even reception. This bloke had landed in this country, his daughter and her husband and his brother had driven the old man to the hospital and then they'd gone wandering around in and out of all the wards until they found a doctor - who happened to be my brother. That's risking spreading the disease all over the place in already weakened people. Either they didn't care or they were pig-ignorant. Well, we know they were that from the way they went about things.
He wasn't even entitled to free British medical treatment, but as my brother said - he couldn't just send him away to spread it around. He had to immediately take him in and get him treated regardless of entitlement. A few months later he walked out of there cured. No payment. And at enormous cost and a lot of trouble. And we wonder why taxes are so high and the Health Service is in severe financial trouble. Anyone can do this from anywhere in the world.
A bit more. My brother's wife was Irish. When she was pregnant she decided she wanted the baby in her home town: Dublin. Anyway, a few months in she had an appointment in an ante-natal clinic in Dublin. My bro being a doctor n'all, he wanted to go see how they did things over there. He told me he was struck speechless when he walked into the clinic - every single woman in there apart from his wife was a third-worlder. All, and all in the last couple of weeks of pregnancy. He found out from the staff that this was a near-permanent state of affairs - coming (Ireland in this case) here in the final stages of pregnancy just so the baby can be born here and thus entitled to stay. Of course, mum and dad have to stay too, don't they - for the baby.
This country is mental. Europe is mental. It's going to come to civil war, and a lot of innocent people are going to die. All our social, business and political elites are lunatics.

Not unique, The Sunday Times reported just after the Oldham riots 4 years ago that "Asians" would take perscription drugs striaght from the Chemist to the Post Office to send to their relatives back home.
There was even a BBC TV programme about foreigners coming to Britain to take advantage of the health service, particularly Aids and TB sufferers. There were also periodic items on the appalling rise in drug resistant tuberculosis due to recent immigrants. The Times reported that at any one time foreign women who’d come here to have their children occupied 50% of the maternity beds in an East London hospital.
Not long after this Radio Four's “Today”, ever the servant of the government carried a long interview with the chief executive of a London Health Authority with a large immigrant community. This man said that the cost to his authority of those not entitled to treatment was only £30,000 a year, which in terms of his multi-million pound budget “was not worth bothering about”.
To understand this statement you have to grasp that he said “people” not “foreigners” or “overseas visitors” and then he said it “not entitled to treatment”. You would then have to have read or heard that the government had instructed Health Authorities to give priority to all Aids and TB patients to stop these spreading into the general population.
By using the word “people” he was avoiding being specific about the origin of the patients and as the government had issued the above instruction it followed that anybody with Aids or TB regardless of origin and time in Britain was “entitled” to treatment. Therefore while the statement was quite correct he was hiding the costs of treating foreigners with Aids and TB. And of course kidding the British people who are picking up the tab.

BTW I have been told that the Irish Government has stopped the baby immigration "loophole" you describe. Also that the Irish Police can now fast track foreign criminals out of the country.

As disturbing as this article is, do not think it couldn’t happen here. I use the VA in Tampa, like most hospitals anyone can walk in the door. OTOH, our VA does have armed police and from what I have seen they are more than capable of handling a rouge muslim. I should have said it could happen here “ONCE”.
Another issue that needs mentioning: has anyone thought about how many foreign doctors and other support staff (many who are muslim) treat our wounded? Do they have an agenda? Does the Hippocratic oath count more to them than the koran? I realize we need them, all of them. I am just pointing out potential problems. So far, the only thing that seemed strange was a muslim demand for a separate prayer area (they didn’t get it). They could be wonderful people but have a relative kidnapped and what then? The actions of other muslims can make one paranoid. In truth, they all seem professional and capable. Unfortunately in today’s world these questions have to be asked.
While I have your attention, I would also like to point out the myth of mistreatment at VA hospitals is just that, a myth. They are dedicated professionals and treat us vets well.
. . . one would think that these wounded paratroopers had buddies left in the UK (not all of the Brit paras have been sent to So. Iraq, have they?) and that these good buddies could visit them more often at the hospital, and that as they are paras, they do not have to be armed to tear a musulman a new anal orifice, do they?

In response to choc posted at 5.36. Our soldiers are in Iraq and Afghanistan to take the fight to the heart of the jihadists. The soldier is not paid to kill (especially at less than £2 per hour); he is there to fight for our way of life against the Muslim fundamentalist threat. Englands oldest ally in Europe is Portugal and the way the connection began in the 12th century is interesting.
A party of English Knights on the way to the Crusades called in to Lisbon to rest,restock and repair. The King of Portugal entertained them and enquired as to their destination and purpose. On being advised of these he asked in so many words: Why are you going all that way to fight Muslims? If you want to fight Muslims we have got plenty here and the country is better.

All civilised people believe, and have always believed, that hospitals, or other medical premises, are, in some sense, sacrosanct - for example, it is just about the only thing that even parties at war with one another can agree upon. Civilised people have always believed that one should leave one's politics and beliefs at the door when one enters a medical establishment. The moslems don't believe any of that, it seems! Even the appalling statement that I made about how I would gloat triumphantly when the Jihadists sawwed your head off was not meant literally but only to get your attention, and to focus it on how seriously, and malignly, your current thinking has gone astray.
Concentrate on, and contribute to, our common struggle to wrestle with the evils of Jihad, rather than blaming other historical forces for the problem it creates, and your contributions will be welcomed here, I'm sure.
For what its worth, I'll tell you that even though I have very strong religious convictions myself, I also can be somewhat of a critic or religious institutions and religious thinking, and consequently I often defend "free thinking" points of view (When I'm trying to emphasize this perspective I will often post using the name "Jacque de Molay" in honour of the last grand master of the Knights Templar, burnt at the stake in 1314 AD through the treachery of King Philip IV of France and Pope Clement V) so I was not wholely offended by your critique of religion in that other thread, only by the fact that you fail to make distinctions that I think, in all fairness, the facts of history call for. I only hope that if, as others have suggested, you are of Muslim background, you will be honest enough to consider the truth about the religions objectively and not rely on prescripted answers of convenience like "they're all just as bad", because believe me, neither Christianity, nor Judaism, nor any other creed in existence today can be blamed for the chronic alienation that Islam suffers from, nor should any of these have this so unjustly projected upon them. Islam has to take responsibility for itself and stop blaming its inadequacies on everyone else. You as a non-religious, secular thinker ought to be willing to say this.

that was a good article, there was a few inaccuracies in his understanding of Islam, but perhaps that was so he did not end up with a fatwa on his head.

The media, the politicians, the Christian clergy (unable or too stupid to follow the lead of the Pope) refuse to ask the real questions that could open up dialogue that could define a Muslim who wishes to be integrated into our human society. Instead Muslims will be defined by the beasts that wreak violence on non-Muslims. The real reaction is not going to come from the intelligence that is displayed by people on this site but by the prolateriat from the pubs and streets who have had enough. THE MINISTRY OF DEFENSE said they had no reports of problems and there were military guards in the area.
First, the Ministry leadership is sloppy, lax, and shows little concern about troops after they aren't able to serve, for whatever period of time.
Second, there must be some sort of officer in charge at the hospital who is very close to dereliction of duty.
Third, the CO of the Paras needs to insist that his own people guard his wounded. I saw the spirit of the Paras when that Colonel was killed in the Falklands. This harrassment of wounded Paras by anyone, not just Muslims, would stop in a New York, make the a London, minute.

"no reports of problems" perhaps meaning no one has filed an official report. This is not the same as saying,
a) Nobody has told us of any problems.
b) We know of no problems.
c) There are no problems.
So they may be telling the truth - after a fashion.

There are no excuses.There is no excuse for threatening wounded people in a hospital, and this is even worse when the person concerned was wounded fighting in our Forces. Please do not insult people's intelligence with your weasel words, moral equivalence arguments and claims to love Britain - it is obvious you do not know what Britain stands for. Maybe you love taking advantage of us, I don't know, but you cannot love Britian if your only problem with jihadists is your selfish little reasons given above. You say you oppose the jihadists cause they make your life more difficult - yet no problem with what they are doing or what they stand for. I really do not care if jihadists hate you or not, that does not give your 'argument' any strength and does not make any repair to your disgusting excuses for the behaviour of this Muslim.

I watched the BBC national news (all of them) and they never mentioned it once.
It is unbelievable that this has happened, and it is unbelievable that the media are ignoring it (barring the local paper you cited, thank you). Apparently Kriss Donald was tortured for hours before he was murdered, and the BBC don't even mention it (or Channel 4, I also watched their propaganda). I can't believe it, but I have to. It is very upsetting.

The Daily Record is the Mirror's sister paper in Scotland so it is a Scottish national.
The good thing about this trial, if there could be a "good" thing, is that the attack is being treated as a racist one. Not that Islam is a race, rather an ideology but it describing the antipathy towards a non Muslim it will do for the purposes of the trial. This contrasts to the decision in the trial of the men who murdered Chris Yates when it was considered "We shall never know why they attacked this inoffensive young man...etc". But they still got convicted and perhaps a year on from that trial the message is getting through. Or the Scottish Lord Advocate's Office traditionally hold different views to the Crown Prosecution Service of England and Wales. Whatever the reason, it is the right thing.
