And the UK press are pretty good at picking up on these stories too, they're actually quite common and always sensationalized. Sorry, not an example of British dhimmitude, just British bureaucracy.

Tziona is right. Plot and lost come to mind when describing Britain. There is no thought-out just or fair or moral approach to anything. One advantage of thatcher was that if you didn't agree with her morals at least you had something to disagree with.

All I can say is that the problem of living on the dole is similar in Germany, though steps have been taken to improve the ridiculous unemployment benefits. I have heard some young Germans say that they would actually vote for Hitler if it would mean the immigrants unemployment checks would be hacked down to what naturalized citizens are given. They complain of getting a fraction of what an immigrant gets and then watch as the immigrants drive off in a BMW or Mercedes from where they recieved the check.

These people: who wear Pakistani clothes, speak Urdu almost exclusively (if that is, they speak any English at all), intermarry only with Muslims, befriend only members of their own community, support Pakistan in all sporting events over England, and pour scorn on all aspects of British culture, heritage and history – are very quick to demand their rights as British citizens. They artfully beat down any criticism with cries of being “British” – after which, they happily refer to themselves as Pakistanis. They are a hostile and deeply alien facet to the social landscape of the United Kingdom, whose major contributions are terrorism, ghettos, demonstrations, endless complaints and riots. In Saudi Arabia Christians are not even permitted to worship or wear the cross – and they are telling us they’ve got it bad.

It turns out that Bhutto will be on campus for another day or two, to take part in some small-group discussions and possible give another lecture or two to some classes. I don't work there, or live close by, so it's highly doubtful I'll attended anything other than the lecture. And, I may not have the chance to get up and ask any questions in front of an audience. So, I've been thinking of other ways to spread the truth.

I've been meaning to print up some Jihadwatch business cards since returning to the States, and tomorrow is as good a time as ever, considering the opporunity afforded me with this event.

I may print up some specifically designed for women.....what books/websites should I recommend on the card besides Jihadwatch.org and Spencer's books? One's geared towards women's issues with Islam?

Also, I think it would be highly effective if there just so happened (out of the blue... Oh! What a coincidence!) to be a short post (new or old) here on Jihadwatch, that would expose some of the more unsavory, theologically-sanctioned, aspects of women and their place in Islam, and would tell those curious ones which books or websites to read to learn more.

Or maybe a link that could be kept up, on the border under the Oriana picture, for the whole week, a Jihadwatch special, Islam for Infidel Women.

The Department dealing with "Asylum seekers" and their ultra PC staff are usually located in out of the way offices so the rest of the Council staff do not get to know what they are doing. There have been cases when Housing Departments sent people to look at empty property only to find it already let to asylum seekers. All instructions to Councils on asylum seekers are a STATE SECRET! Technically anyone could get 10 years jail for talking about them.

"Asians" move in with their families and pack their own houses with asylum seekers. When one local paper exposed the conditions an "Asian" landlord was keeping 400 Afghans in it was threatened with an organised boycott by the "Race Relations Board" a 100% Government funded organisation.

Incidentally the "Asian" landlord last mentioned was probably getting about £28,000 ($40,000+ US) A WEEK!" for property normally worth £7000 a week.

But its not all hay, one "Asian" landlord told me because "They do not know how to live in houses" the breakage rate of electrical appliances is phenomal.

I'm British and I don't feel like I've hit rock bottom, thanks. I'm not a Islamic apologist, but these sort of comment by Robert are unreasonably biased and prejudicial. Please try to understand others' circumstances. Put yourself in the position of these families, "who everyone accepts are innocents caught up in the police operation through no fault of their own". They have been forcibly removed from the place where they live. How would law-abiding (and notoriously-litigious) Americans respond to being forced out of their homes when they've done nothing wrong? Passive acceptance of cheap bed-and-breakfast? I doubt it. The least the authorities could do is to place these innocents in reasonable temporary accommodation. £170 for a double room may seem a lot, but this is a crowded little island and the high cost of land means that hotels are expensive here compared to the USA. I'd like these people to be returned to their dwelling-place as soon as possible, to limit the cost to the taxpayer, but the UK authorities have an obligation of care until this is done.

Ethnic map reveals rich urban mix of cultures and religion

People of Indian origin are the largest ethnic group, numbering 1.1 million or 2 per cent of the population.
More than 40 per cent of Indians live in London and 30 per cent in the West and East Midlands.

However, Leicester has the biggest proportion of Indians of any local council, more than 25 per cent of the authority’s population.

In 2001, a third of British Indians came from India, 13 per cent from East Africa and 46 per cent from Britain.

Hindus are the largest religious group, with 45 per cent of the population, followed by Sikhs, with 30 per cent.

Most British Indians are aged between 20 and 50 years, with only 7 per cent over 65.

British Pakistanis are the second biggest ethnic group, numbering 746,000 in 2001.
They are concentrated in the West Midlands, Yorkshire and Humberside and London, which each have a fifth of the group’s overall population.

This is the irony of people fleeing state persecution. I have met laywers, doctors, opposition party members -- all genuine asylum seekers and don't have a problem with them getting refuge in the west.

however, if you want to insure a property to rent to asylum seekers the rates jump from about £1.50 per £1k for students (who are not exactly model tenants!) to nearly £5 per £1k.

There is a reason for this based on claims, etc so I regard it as mathematical fact not prejudice.

My problem is that one would expect genuine asylum seekers to be better tenants than our native 18yr old students.

I'd agree with FreeSpeech - it is european. Specifically, I'd say that it is all to do with the European Human Rights Chapter and subsequent Acts. This piece of law is quite rightly hated by the majority. It is a phenomenon that is at the cause of the impotence of the police and the judiciary. It is the hallowed legislation of the Left that lifts up the criminal/shiftless/minority as the victimised - victimised by society, that is. Explain how US Christian and Jewish zealotry is the same as Islamic fundamentalism? I don't see members of the evangelical community in Missouri, for instance, blowing themselves up because they don't agree with .

Now, there could be a confusion between the type of liberalism that was created in Britain and exported to America, and what we generally on this site call "European". The British liberalism is where a free born man does not need premission to do anything. It means freedom of worship and association. Generally in Europe, you cannot do anything until you have been given permission. In my country, you can do anything you want to do until at last you are not permitted (at least that is how it used to be). This is the difference.

I would argue that European liberalism is the weakness that Islamic fundamentalism exploits to further its cause. European liberalism means retreat in the face of agression. At some point, your principles of freedom of speech and expression have to be stood up and fought for. I think that if you choose European liberalism then you choss Islamic fundamentalism. Lets look at EU liberalism in action:
i. The talks with Iran, which the Iranians are using to buy time to continue with their nuclear program.
ii. The rush to condemn Israel for protecting itself from an aggressor. The exact opposite rate of speed to put troops in along the Lebanese border.
iii. The readiness to resume funding for the Hamas government because of a few crumbs thrown the way of Fatah. Hamas still wants to see Israel - a democratic and free country - wiped off the face of the earth.

That's 3 things that I can think of where European liberalism has been detrimental to the shared existence of human beings. Other people might be a bit more knowledgable than I and will be able give some more.

New Statesman - Mark Thomas flushes out a fatwa

Take the example of the Kurdish writer Marywan Halabjaye in Iraq. I was contacted by Houzan Mahmoud, the UK representative of the Organisation of Women's Freedom in Iraq. She told me Marywan would answer any questions I might want to put to him, but as he spoke no English and I no Arabic, I should e-mail the questions to her and she would get the answers. It was also a polite way of avoiding me compromising his safety. Marywan is in hiding with his pregnant wife and three children; he has been sentenced to be beheaded by the fatwa committee of Halabja. His crime was writing a book entitled Sex, Sharia and Women in the History of Islam, which includes a textual analysis of the Koran and how it is used to oppress women.

"I wanted to prove how oppressed women are in Islam and that they have no rights actually," says Marywan, "although this is really a traditional topic among progressives." In fact, he is well known among Iraqi Kurds and has written on religion before with a minimum of fuss.

So his book was published last November, after permission had been sought from the Kurdish bureaucracy. The print run was for 1,000 copies, and the work proved popular enough for a second edition to be issued within a month. "The Islamists were not happy with this," says Marywan, "because they always want to hide the oppression of women within Islam."
