While looking around in the fever swamps of Dean Esmay's site in order to write this post, I discovered here that I have been nominated for "Islamophobe of the Year" by the Islamic Human Rights Commission of the UK.
"Islamophobia" is, in reality, a politically motivated construct designed to deflect attention away from the depredations of jihad terrorists. No one, of course, would have any "phobia" toward Muslims at all were it not for the acts of violence committed daily by Muslims and justified by those who commit them by reference to Islamic teachings. You will note that there is no worldwide "Buddhismophobia" or "Confucianismophobia." Now why is that?
Anyway, I'm in very good company among the international nominees (I'm in the U.S. category). Here are a few of them, along with the taglines from the Islamic Human Rights Commission:
Ehud Olmert For his massacre of the Palestinian and Lebanese people.King Abdullah of Jordan For his submission to the Israelis and abandoning the Palestinians and Lebanese.
King Mohammed VI of Morocco For his 'so called reforms' aimed at removing Islam from the the Moroccan people.
Meles Zenawi (Ethiopia's Prime Minister) For saying that the war on terror is "something of a godsend" and that Ethiopia is at the "epicenter of terrorism" and "a secular island in the sea of Islam."
Daniel Pipes For his anti-Arab, anti-Islam articles and his campaigns and discrimination against Muslims.
George W Bush For the promoting the phrase 'Islamofascist'
Robert Spencer The author of anti-Islamic books such as ‘The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam’, as well as ‘Islam Unveiled: Disturbing Questions About the World's Fastest Growing Faith’. Islam is often vented in hateful websites such as Jihad Watch and Dhimmi Watch.
John Howard For stating that Muslims migrating to Australia are bringing problems such as jihadist views and conservative attitudes to women not encountered with other immigrant groups.
Ayan Hirsi For trading on a false reputation that she was a victim of Muslim abuse.
Jose Maria Aznar (Former Spanish PM) For his speech on 22 September 2006 at the Hudson Institute in Washington.
Jack Straw For stoking the flames of Islamophobia with his ‘request’ that Muslim women should remove their veils before he graces them with his presence.
John Reid For whipping up anti-Muslim sentiment and continuing his witch hunt against the Muslims.
Melanie Phillips For (amongst others) suggesting that Iran might attack Jerusalem on 22nd August to commemorate Meraj and for writing her book 'Londonistan'.
Tony Blair For everything.
I suspect that George Bush will sweep my category, so I won't be preparing my "I'd like to thank the Academy...You like me! You really like me!" speech, but I am honored to be nominated, as perhaps it suggests that my efforts against global jihad supremacism are making a difference.
Allow me to be the first to congratulate you!
You are in some pretty august company. I think you should note that it is an honour simply to be nominated in the same category as Pipes and Hirsi (and vice versa).
Maybe next year!
Bush should not be on the list. Nor Blair. Both have spoken of Islam incorrectly and both have viewed Islam in far too misleadingly a light, and encouraged others to do so as well.
.... as perhaps it suggests that my efforts against global jihad supremacism are making a difference.
you are making a difference, robert.
Congratulations Robert, this is nothing but a sign of success.
You must be hitting a nerve, keep up the good work. With some luck you may even be a repeat winner, all the best.
Niv
You are in good company, indeed.
This is my favourite, though:
"Tony Blair For everything."
There oughta be a Hallmark card.
How in the hell did the Islamic Human Rights Commission get a copy of my Hero List??
Did I get a hat tip?
Allow me to be the first to congratulate you!
You are in some pretty august company.
I was wondering if I made the list. Thanks
August22
I don't want to get all "Stuart Smalley" here but I think we can all pat ourselves on the back.
I think we're a passionate, intelligent and concerned group (sans Nariz, Shia and Naseem) who tirelessly work to sound the alarm bells of the gathering storm.
Good job all, especially to our intrepid heroes and heroines!
Congratuations Robert, for being honored with this special nomination. Goes to show that you are doing something right.
Just was suprised that Pope Benedict XVI was not one of the nominations for standing up for the truth about force conversions to Islam.
actually l had to laugh at the site, they side with terrorist.. but if you want to add people to the list you can. l added osama bin laden and the little
monkey man from iran ! HAHAHAHA
Check out photos from last years ceremony:

Robert
My votes:
Some observations:
- Geography:Russia is a part of Europe, but UK isn't?
- Meles Zenawi wins by default - no Muslim leader deserves this award! Similarly for John Howard in Australasia.
- Like Hugh mentioned, Bush and Blair don't belong in this list. Neither do Condi Rice, the French, or Vlad Putin.
- Australasia - come on - nobody from Thailand or India? Who have the Jihadis been fighting?
- Monarch Airlines got into this by accident - had passengers not complained, they wouldn't have bothered.
Any other honorable mentions?Hey! I'm a little peeved I wasn't nominated--oh, well--congrats, Mr. Robert. It's been good seeing/hearing you lately talking about your new book. I heard you on Neil Bortz(?) and caught you on MSNBC, was it? Anyway, it's great to finally have somebody out there making sense of all this--keep it up and I'm sending more $s your way to keep it up!
Ehud Olmert in Africa and the Middle East.
Robert Spencer in Americas.
John Howard in Asia and Australasia.
Vladimir Putin in Europe and Russia.
Tony Blair in UK.
I realize Putin is a joke, but the school children being killed like that really got to me, and I was really upset at how the media made no connection between the terrorists and the fact that they were Muslim.
Hope you win Robert!!
If you won't join us, you are against us. So the fatwa should follow next! Congrats, Robert, but keep safe. How's the cloning happening, of late? There's gotta be more of you, not less.
They haven't read Muhammad yet, 'the truth about'! You missed being on top of the list ahead of Olmert and King of Jordan.
What does Islamic Human Rights mean? I'm confused. Does it include wrapping babies in RDX and blowing 'em up?
Excellent list. You are in good company Mr. Spencer. Although I think it's outrageous that Fjordman wasn't nominated for the European award. Definitely a write-in candidate.
Phobia has a negative connotation to it and it often implies an irrational fear. Does anyone know what is the word to use for a "rational, reasoned fear", a fear that arises because you have learned the truth.
Can we invent some words to use against it?
Yes, I think we need to fear what Islam will do to all of us. This fear is not irrational. It is the goal of Islam anyway.
Al-Mahdi & Antichrist
Congrats, you're in great company!
Yagub asked:
Does anyone know what is the word to use for a "rational, reasoned fear"
Answer:
Prudence.
http://doctorbulldog.wordpress.com
As an oxymoron "Islamic Human Rights Commission" beats "Islamic Scholar."
Congrats Robert!
Yaqub, thanks for the link you posted about the Al Madhi and Anti-Christ. This has been my theory for some time and I look forward to reading that site.
God Bless,
Bonnie
You can tell a lot about a guy by the company he keeps; and also by who he pisses off. What's that California kid turned-Muslim up to these days anyway? Thanks for your work, you've got my vote.
Bush should not be on the list. Nor Blair. Both have spoken of Islam incorrectly and both have viewed Islam in far too misleadingly a light, and encouraged others to do so as well.
Too true.
I thought at first Bush was simply being cagey and playing for time against the enemy of Islam, but after the Dubai port deal comment: "what kind of message would it send? [to deny Muslims from runmning our ports]
Revealed Bush as a colossal moron.
Esmay just keeps sinking lower and lower. He's been schooled by just about every one he's gone after and if he had any self respect, he'd pull a hare kare after the intellectual humiliation you've dished out to him.
This is indeed an honor. Hopefully, we can look forward to a wonderful victory speech in the near future.
Oh, Come now Mr. Spencer you really have already made it to the big time.
Osama and crew including "Jihad" Adam have already called you out in a tape no less. You can't get more street cred then that in the Anti-Jihad movement. You already got the Golden Osama Award for 2006! Let someone else win it.
I vote for Esmay to win a Golden Dhimmi! When is the Jihad Watch Awards for 2006 coming?
May I put forth...
Super Dhimmi of the Year
Best Man Dhimmi
Best Woman Dhimmi
Life Time Achivement Dhimmi
Best Fake Conservative who is really a Dhimmi
etc etc etc..........
They intend to have a go at "Islamophobes" by satire, review and comedy. This could be dangerous to the cause of anti-jihadism. Any group of people calling themselves 'The Islamic Human Rights Commisssion' clearly have a formidable talent for making people laugh.
Not to rain on Robert's congratulatory parade, but did anybody actually waste their time to read the diatribe on Esmay's blog by one Mary Madigen -- or Magdalen, or whatever? Holy crap, what a cacophony of idiocy, nonsense, hyperbole, blunted musings, tangential deadends and generally poor English she has regurgitated upon the page. Is she a regular? Is that the normal tripe found on the self-proclaimed scholar's website (read his "who is Dean" for some down home entertainment and folly -- what a dick). And, does anyone understand what the hell she (Mary) is/was trying to say?
Robert, please don't ever make me go back to that site again. It was very scary.
Wow, congratulations to Robert. So far, I had only purchased 2 of his books. Now I'm going to get them all. Considering the source of the nomination, he is definitely doing something right. Thanks for this site, it is making a difference.
Yes, an Honor Roll. Congratulations Robert!
Off-Topic Media Alert:
FoxNews had a teaser promo for a show which will air tomorrow (Sat) at 2pm EST entitled "Why We Fight" which is supposed to be a frank examination of radical Islam and its activities around the world. The title at least is promising.
The content may be too as there is supposed to be discussion of the movie "Obsession" which could be illuminating.
The host will be the smart and beautiful Jaime Colby, reason enough right there to tune in.
Hopefully it will be worthwhile.
Flipping reality on its head. It's an industry now. From PT Barnum to Dan Rather to Dean Esmay. Industrialists all.
They make it sound like it's a *bad* thing!?
We're a big club of Islamoprudents.
Jeez...The least the Islamic Human Rights Commission could have done was to include the title of Robert's latest book in the bio. Could it have been deliberate or are they just that uninformed?
Congratulations on your nomination Robert, is there any way we could persuade you to come down to Aust and speak here? I am sure 98.5% of the country would welcome you.
Hi. Since this is my first comment here, I should point out that I'm a veteran lurker and that many of you are like family in as much as I've read and pondered most of what you've been saying for a long long time.
Ok, well, lets get down to brass tacks.
Yada Yada Yada, Robert is an islamophobe. The sky is blue in the daytime (unless its cloudy, or a solar eclipse is on, or what have you) And turds are stinky (unless you're floating in space and they're somehow on the outside of your space-suit).
The quran is the immutable word of god or allah (which is either the same thing, or its not, depending on who you ask) and since the quran clearly states the world is flat, it therefore follows that the world is indeed flat in contrast to the conflicting conclusions of the tenuous science of objective observation, which indicates the world is really a sphere.
And although perhaps a bit off-topic, the science of objective observation is likewise required in the production of tools, which are used to produce pencils. Thus it follows that pencils do not exist and, at any rate, allah hates it when believers use them, since doing so clearly validates a worldview sharply at odds with the written word. Ditto shoes with rubber soles, and computers, of course.
Have I erred somewhere or am I just a total f***i*g a**h*le for pointing this out? Objective scienceophobia is a bit*h when it comes to whirring centerfuges, and swirling center fudges.
Congratulations Robert! You are in great company. Hope it boost the sales of your books. By the way, Michael Medved program today was a replay of the debate between yourself and J. Siddiqui (sp). You of course outshined, outclassed him by lightyears. Very entertaining and educational. Thank you. I found him to be very condescending toward you and Michael. You've earned your nomination and I think Oriana would be celebrating it too.
The science of objective observation is likewise required in the production of tools, which are used to produce pencils.
This is the crux, berzerker. Our abject inability to address to publicize what's wrong. This is my central criticism of the anti-Dhimmi book writing crowd.
Does Anheuser-Busch publish scholarly books on the superiority of its beer? Haven't seen any engineering treatises from Toyota, GM, or Daimler-Benz on their respective car designs.
Maybe its time to advertise the Koran and Sunnah in 30-second and 60-second TV spots. Maybe that's the way out of this mess.
Business does it. Government does it. NGOs do it. Religions do it. Lawyers do it. Politicians do it.
Why not us?
Alarmed Pig Farmer,
Yup, I can see it now, A Qur'an commercial done in the "Dianetics" style:
Announcer:
"Having problems with an unfaithful wife? Read all about it - The Qur'an.
"Having problems with Pagans practicing Magick in your neighborhood? Read all about it - The Qur'an.
"Wondering what to do if a Jew moves in next door? Read all about it - The Quran"
The possibilities are endless! LOL
http://doctorbulldog.wordpress.com
Wow, Robert, congratulations! I bet you'll eventually get the Lifetime Achievement Award!
All things Islamic start and end with the Koran. I didn't get to read anyplace about an Islamic democracy. That would sound moronic enough. Now where the h*ll does the Koran or the Hadiths say anything about human rights, Islamic or otherwise, unless they mean, the right to terrorise, the right to rape, the right to loot, the right to bomb the innocents, the right to hijack, the right to drive planes in buildings, the right to slit throats, the right to decapitate, the right to kill, kill, kill? Answer please, Robert.
Good on ya Johnnie!
For stating that Muslims migrating to Australia are bringing problems such as jihadist views and conservative attitudes to women not encountered with other immigrant groups.
Well, the latest vileness oozing out of that Hilaly creature kinda proves him right, no? Yet another example of how incompatible and problematic they are, no?
I'm so proud to live in a country whose leader is on this list. It shows we're doing it right.
The website is a laugh, btw. The title - LOL! And the reasons for the nominations - LOL! You'd be forgiven for thinking this was a parody or joke site.
Awesome. You can't buy publicity like this.
"The website is a laugh, btw. The title - LOL! And the reasons for the nominations - LOL! You'd be forgiven for thinking this was a parody or joke site." - Once again the fragility of the muslim mind and muslim "arguments" shine through.
Anyone read a little more of the IHRC site? Comedians to the last.
Sigh - My Hero!
All of us who have been called "Islamophobes" are just people who are aware of the wolf below the sheepskin.
Islam can't fool us below that old sheepskin.
From the announcement of the Contest:
"What is Islamophobia?
A contemporary and emerging form of prejudice Islamophobia can be described as stereotypes, bias or acts of hostility towards individual Muslims or followers of Islam in general. In addition to individual acts of intolerance and racial profiling, Islamophobia leads to viewing Muslims as a greater security threat on an institutional, systemic and societal level and perceiving their views to be intrinsically problematic, violent or unethical."
And the Awards:
"Islamophobia Awards:
The Islamophobia Awards is an annual event to acknowledge - through satire, revue and comedy - the worst Islamophobes of that year. Centred around a gala dinner, the 'awards' themsleves are both entertaining and raise awarness of a serious and growing prejudice. Real awards are given to those who have battled against Islamophobia - often against enormous odds."
Note the last sentence in the definition of "Islamophobia":
"Islamophobia leads to viewing Muslims as a greater security threat on an institutional, systemic and societal level and perceiving their views to be intrinsically problematic, violent or unethical."
A security threat "greater" than what? Greater than that posed to non-Muslims, by other non-Muslims, in non-Muslims societies? But surely we don't need to know much of anything to know that that is true. After familiarizing yourself with Qur'an, Hadith, and the biography of Muhammad, do you perceive the likely views of those who claim to believe that the Qur'an is the uncreated and immutable word of God, and who take Muhammad to be the Perfect Man, uswa hasana, al-insan al-kamil, to hold views that might be described by you as "intrinsically problematic, violent, or unethical"?
Of course you do. Every single person who actually reads the texts, even without waking up to the day's Jihad News from around the world, must if not crazy regard the views that those who call themselves Muslims must assume to hold unless they signal to the outside world that they are not real Believers but merely "cultural Muslims" -- i.e., Muslim-for-identification-purposes-only Muslims -- as "intrinsically probelmatic, violent, or unethical."
Confirmation that Mr. Spencer is right. Congratulations! May I suggest candidates for "Islamophobe of the Year" Lifetime Achievement Awards:
Theo Van Gogh
Orianna Fallaci
how did tony B liar get on that list?
he has done everything he can to promote muslims.
he has thrown millions of pounds at their
organisations,mosque building
let alone the pc nonsense that has accompainied it.
houses built with bathrooms facing the right way.
toilets in prison re-designed.
halal meat in schools.
i could go on but you know already how stupid it is here in the uk.
he should have an award for pro-muslim activities.then be tried for treason by his own people.
he has bought this country ever closer to a civil war.he will certainly be remembered in history.
The IHRC is not the only ones who can give awards.
Robert and Hugh and staff win duh_swami's Award for Perpetual Excellence. This award has no monetary value, so dont expect a check.
Dean wins duh_swami's award for perpetual Zarqawism.
He is an expert at foul mouth diplomacy, and decapitaion of truth. Abu Dean bin Esmay is an agent of Iblis. His jihad is the projectile vomiting of filth and absurdities, primarilly at Jihad Watch and Robert. The bottom line is that Abu Dean is afraid of RS and Hugh. The thing that Iblis and Abu Dean fear most, is that RS and Hugh may actually be 'right' about something. Since the 'truth' is kind of hard to disprove, Abu Dean tries to bury it under profanities
and mentally aberated slime. The primitive intellect always does that. When confronted with reality, they resort to profanity and personal attacks. A very liberal( Esmay admits he is a liberal in his profile) way of dealing with the lassitudes of life, of which liberals have many.
If liberals did not have Clinton to cling to, they would embrace Allah. Seems like Abu Dean bin Esmay, has already done that.
Re: Vote early and often!
Dean Esmay is a wannabe somebody who is a nobody. He's pathetic. Who cares what he thinks. BTW, Jihadwatch will get more publicity and "hits" because of the slanders-so it will be good to win such an award. No doubt many people have come to the site because of lies about Jihadwatch and realized that they were told lies about Robert and Jihadwatch.
The Islamic Human Rights Committee seems to be an oxymoron.
Is the committee for human rights for islamics, or are the islamics concerned about human rights?
Maybe my memory is beginning to go due to old age, but I can't seem to recall anything in the Qur'an, hadiths, or any related writings dealing with human rights of any sort. To be sure, there are prescribed
ways of treating people, but if there are any rights involved, then there are the accompanying threats if you dare to exercise those rights, especially if you are a woman or a dhimmi.
As for infidels, they have a right to give up or die. Because infidels are nominally human, I suppose this is a right.
Bush is Saudi Prince's puppy.
Blair has done his best for furtherance of muslims in Britain. Under his governance, muslim immigration has grown exponentially, there have been more islamic schools and mosques built and more muslims have been awarded knighthoods and Lordships than ever before. He and his government are dhimmi personified.
Neither Bush nor Blair should be on this list - unless ofcourse if "islamofobia" is taken literally to mean "fear of islam" than their should no doubt be included in this list but than Robert's shouldn't.
Congratulations on the nomination, Robert!
"Islamic Human Rights" is of course an oxymoron.
Congratulations, Mr. Spencer! You should feel honored that your efforts have been noticed by the IHRC to the degree that they are unnerved enough to consider you for dubious "Islamophobe" accolade. You've done a phenomenal job through this website & your writing -- so phenomenal that they don't like it and feel compelled to mention it.
However, I'm with Hugh on this one regarding President Bush. He should NOT be mentioned along with you, Daniel Pipes, or even Bruce Willis because our misguided President is always making references to what a "noble religion" Islam is or the "peace-loving Muslims who make up the highest percentage of Islam". To hear President Bush tell it, there are only a few rotten apples that spoil the whole barrel. If that were true, then the Coalition Forces wouldn't be mired down in the muck of insurgency in Iraq & Afghanistan, would they?
Perhaps he & Tony Blair should heed the words of Walid Shoebat, a former PLO terrorist who now speaks out for Israel & is a disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ. If nothing else, he should be regarded as an expert on Islam without dispute! He told John Hagee in a televised interview that the 'peaceful' Muslims are "peaceful IN SPITE OF Islam, not because of it!" This is because they are fairly clueless as to what the Qur'an teaches (probably similar to those who go to church every Sunday and volunteer for charity drives, yet have no idea what the Bible says or what Jesus Christ taught). There are way too many jihadists in the world (with more & more young people signing up every day for 'suicide bomb duty') for President Bush to make such an indiscriminate remark about Islam being a "noble religion". Since he is obviously trying to score points with the Muslims & their supporters on the far-left, he does not deserve to be in the same company as Robert Spencer, Daniel Pipes, King Abdullah of Jordan, King Mohammed VI of Morocco, or even Bruce Willis!
Sincerely In The Service Of Our Lord Jesus Christ:
Kim
Hah! Good company indeed.
I was disappointed, though, that I didn't see Flemming Rose, editor of Jyllands-Posten "honored" as well.

Great... another idiot who is apparently unable to make the distinction between Islam and Muslim. According to his incorrect definition above, Islamophobia has to do with Muslims, and not Islam.
If you're going to hurl false accusations of Islamophobia, at least let it have something to do with Islam!
I nominated Mohamed. I figure if he didn't tell folks to start killing people, no one would hate muslims.
