Jihad Watch reader Ray has pointed out to me an interesting congruence.
Was this the call?
"Islamist Websites Monitor No. 2: Abu Hamza Al-Muhajir: American Military Bases are an Ideal Environment for Trying Out Biological and Dirty Bombs," from MEMRI:
On September 28, 2006, Islamist websites posted an audio recording by commander of Al-Qaeda in Iraq Abu Hamza Al-Muhajir, which included a number of messages. Addressing the Muslim 'ulama, Abu Hamza called on them to join the jihad, and to follow the example of the blind Sheikh 'Ali 'Abd Al-Rahman, who is currently imprisoned in the U.S. Abu Hamza also urged the jihad fighters to make a special effort to capture Westerners in order to exchange them for the imprisoned sheikh. Next, he congratulated the tribal chiefs who supported the cause of jihad in Iraq, and invited those who had sided with the Americans to publicly declare their repentance and join the forces of jihad. His final call was to scientists and experts in various technological fields, whom he invited to try out their biological weapons and dirty bombs on American military bases. The following are excerpts from the recording:
[...]
"...On the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, the month of jihad and martyrdom, I pray to Allah that [this Ramadan] shall be a month of glory, power and victory for all Muslims.
[...]
"I call upon every free jihad-fighter in Iraq to make special efforts during this holy month of Ramadan. Perhaps Allah will grant us [the privilege of] capturing some Byzantine [i.e. Christian] dogs, whom we can [use] to release our teacher from the darkness of prison, out of our recognition, loyalty and love [for him]."
[...]
"My final message is [addressed] to those who have special skills and qualifications amongst the experts in [the fields of] chemistry, physics, management, electronics, communications and all the advanced specialties, particularly nuclear scientists and [experts] on explosives. I say [to them]: we have urgent need of you. The front of jihad will suit your aspirations. The American military bases, with their large areas, are an ideal environment for trying out your non-conventional bombs: the biological [bombs] and the so-called 'dirty' bombs..."
And was this the response to that call?
"Hundreds of Iraqi police poisoned, officials say," from AP:
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- Hundreds of Iraqi policemen fell sick from poisoning Sunday at a base in southern Iraq after the evening meal breaking their daily Ramadan fast, and officials said they were investigating whether the poisoning was intentional. An official with the Environment Ministry said 11 policemen had died. However, the governor of Wasit province -- where the poisoning took place -- denied any deaths, though he said some of the victims were in critical condition. There was no immediate explanation for the contradictory reports.
Some of the policemen began bleeding from the ears and nose after the meal, said Jassim al-Atwan, an inspector for the Environment Ministry, who was serving as a liaison in the investigation between the Health Ministry and the base, located in the town of Numaniyah.
"Hundreds of soldiers were poisoned after taking food and water in the iftar," Wasit Gov. Hamad al-Latif told the Associated Press, referring to the meal that breaks the sunrise-to-sunset fast during the Islamic holy month. "Investigations are under way to determine the cause."
Samples of the food and water were being tested "to determine the substance in them" and will be sent to Baghdad for further tests, al-Latif said.
While Washington slept, or rather was bringing "democracy" and "freedom" to create a Light Unto the Muslim Nations, all kinds of things were happening elsewhere. In Europe, Muslims everywhere threatened, rioted, vandalized, made demands for changes in the legal and political and social institutions, set off bombs and plotted to kidnap and kill and engage in murder and mayhem. Mosques were built, or planned, even in the midst of the most beautiful, most Tuscan, of countrysides -- in Colle Val d'Elsa (to understand what this means, imagine a giant mosque raised sky-high right beside the rude bridge that arches the flood in Concord)--and in the midst of every European capital, in London, and Paris, and Rome. And there was confusion and demoralization (one-third of the Dutch now wish to leave; young Frenchmen are making plans to come to America, Canada, Australia -- forefeeling the apparently unstoppable presence and power of Muslims within France).
And now North Korea tests a nuclearr weapon.
And while all this happens, an Administration that did not understand how to exploit the situation in Iraq correctly, and still gives no sign of doing so, focusses on the mad policy of "victory in Iraq" when its own definition of victory -- a peaceful state, where ethnic and sectarian divisions are suppressed or constrained -- is the very opposite of what it should wish for.
We are led by the irredeemably stupid.

This is why I refuse to eat where muslims work. I've even stopped going to some of my favorite restaurants. It's so easy for even a dishwasher to contaminate food.
The spinach ordeal and now the contaminated lettuce is waking up a lot of people to the fact they can get us through our food sources. Muslims shouldn't be hired to work ANYWHERE around our food. They should just be deported.
Al-Muhajir included the following in his call: "My final message is [addressed] to those who have special skills and qualifications amongst the experts in [the fields of] chemistry, physics, management, electronics, communications and all the advanced specialties, particularly nuclear scientists and [experts] on explosives. I say [to them]: we have urgent need of you."
Observe that each of those fields originated in the West, inspired by the Judaeo-Christian belief in a lawful cosmos: if you do an experiment with the expectation that similar results will follow similar conditions, you accumulate real knowledge of the world that God created. This is in contrast to the Muslim belief in a deity whose will is arbitrary: if he decides tomorrow that a ball thrown up in the air will keep on going up, or that if you plant an acorn, a tulip will grow, such will happen. A philosophy based on the assumption that cosmological law is contrary to true religion can't develop science. It also can't develop the standard of living and improvements in health that come with science and the religion-based assumptions that produce them.

Muslims in the U.S. Military
"All of my co-workers and commanders have been respectful," said Air Force Technical Sgt. Abdul-Basir Lipscomb, an African American convert to the Muslim faith.
According to some reports, more than 1,000 members of the U.S. armed forces converted to Islam while stationed in the Persian Gulf in the early 1990s.
Pentagon officials say there were 4,070 self-declared Muslims in the U.S. Armed Forces in May 2001, the last time a count was made.
But other observers say there may be three or four times that many. That's because many Muslims decline to state their religious preference when they enlist, while those who convert during their time of service are not counted.
MUSLIM CHAPLAINS
As the number of Muslim soldiers rise, so have the ranks of chaplains of that faith. In 1993, the U.S. Army appointed its first Muslim chaplain, and there are now [as of 2003 when this article was written] 14 of them in the four branches of the armed forces.
In 1997, the military's first mosque, Masjid al Da'awah, opened in Virginia at the Norfolk Naval Air Station.
Last month, military Muslims got some unwanted attention when Sgt. Asan Akbar of the 101st Airborne Division allegedly rolled grenades into three tents of sleeping officers at Camp Pennsylvania in Kuwait, then sprayed them with bullets when they ran out. Two officers died, and 14 others were injured.
Akbar, an African American who converted to Islam, was soon captured and reportedly said, "You guys are coming into our countries, and you're going to rape our women and kill our children."
Lipscomb, who works in the finance office at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina, said he was shocked by the overseas attack.
"I don't know what kind of Muslim he is. I don't want people thinking I'm like that," Lipscomb said. "There are a lot of Muslims in the military. We're here to defend our country and help the people in Iraq."
...
Abuhena Mohammed Saiulislam, the Muslim chaplain in Norfolk, said he could not grant an interview to The Chronicle without permission from his commanding officer. The interview was denied.
Meanwhile, three phone calls to the Army's first Muslim chaplain, Abul Rasheed Muhammad, were not returned.
Officials at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield said there was no Muslim chaplain nor any enlisted lay leader of the Islamic faith who could speak to The Chronicle.
Capt. Jesse Tate, the Navy's regional chaplain based in San Diego, did agree to an interview. He said the number of Muslim sailors has steadily grown over his 21 years of active duty.
Twenty years ago, when he was serving on the aircraft carrier Independence, there were only two or three Muslims aboard, Tate said. Last year [in 2002], he was in the Persian Gulf on another aircraft carrier, the Harry S. Truman, and there were between 40 and 50 Muslims on deck.
Tate, a Christian chaplain, said commanding officers have taken special training to "deal with the myths" and "defuse misgivings" about Muslims and Arab Americans in the ranks.
"We try to focus on the commonalities," he said. "We (Christians, Muslims, Jews) are all monotheistic religions and people of scripture."
[Is Captain Jesse Tate, christian chaplain, a member of the "elite"?]

That story about the strychnine in the reservoir is a bit scary too.
This is why we need to kill these monsters-not take them prisoner and not negotiate with them. Destroy them completely. These savages stoop to every low possible while we try to fight with "civilized" rules. These rules don't carry any weight with these mad dogs. The only way to win is to adopt their methods- the hell with "taking the high ground". Such silly sentiments will only lead to more dreadful "experiments" on the part of these barbarians.
From the Article:
"Abu Hamza also urged the jihad fighters to make a special effort to capture Westerners in order to exchange them for the imprisoned sheikh."
New strategy: Whenever these lowlifes try something like this to free their poor oppressed prisoners, I say we give them a taste of their own medecine: Hack the sheikh to pieces, cover his remains with pig entrails, dog carcasses, silk, feces, Jack Daniel's, and urine (but not CAMEL urine, that stuff's magic). Then throw the whole smelly pile into a pet cemetary, cover the hole and mark it with a headstone listing all of the grave's contents.
Maybe THAT will get their attention and help them realize that WE WILL NOT SUBMIT.
*sigh*
Sorry about that. I just get so anrgy reading about these daily atrocities committed against the free-thinking, freedom-loving people of the world and it sickens me that we don't seem to have the will to fight back. I just want to give a giant "F YOU" to the entire Jihadi community in a way that they'll very clearly understand.
"Maybe THAT will get their attention and help them realize that WE WILL NOT SUBMIT."
If the history of what the Spanish had to deal with against the Moros Muslims in the Philippines in the 15th through the 19th centuries is any indication, it doesn't seem to matter how savagely and brutally one fights the Muslims -- they remain the same, and in fact only redouble their psychotic zeal. One must be clever. The apocryphal story of the use of bullets soaked in pig's blood by Gen. Pershing in the same theater (Philippines) is one such clever tactic. Others must include things like subversion through double agents, etc. But I don't think that simply fighting savagely will deter Muslims in the long run (past temporary truces); too many of them are too psychotically fanatical for that minimal degree of rationality.
That doesn't mean we should tie our military's hands behind their backs and try to fight a "sensitive" PC war, as Bush has been forced by the PC Police to do in Iraq and Afghanistan. It simply means that politically INcorrect savagery will not be sufficient for the long haul.
Remote, that was in a time before muslims could communicate and see what was happening to other muslims. A hundred or a thousand would die in a battle, but other muslims may never have heard about it, and certainly never saw any live images, dead images, or even any photos from such disasters. If they heard anything at all, it was propaganda that their brothers were victorious in battle. They were insulated against fear in that sense. Today, we can bomb Mecca to ashes, and the whole muslim world will see the terror on CNN.
Do not forget the experience of the Russians in Beirut in the '80s. They kidnapped the child of a terrorist leader, who had kidnapped a Russian diplomat, they chopped off the kid's ear, and sent it to him. They got their guys back in a hurry. And until just this year, no Russian after that was ever kidnapped by those savages. Not so for the Americans. They respect that kind of brutality. At the very least, they fear it.
Don't buy into this, "We love Death" propaganda. That is there to pysche us out. It's a bluff. They fear death, they fear torture, and what is more, they fear the death and torture of their familes. Most of them anyway.
We need to kidnap the families of the jihadists, film the torture, and send the videos to them. Then send one finger or toe at a time until we get what we want.
They don't fear the West because they know the modern west doesn't have the cajones to do that. All we do is put them in jail and give them three square meals a day. To them, that is better than being back home.
Some may say, oh ya, it's easy to talk tough, but could you, August22, do that? I say, give me the knife, the jihadist's relatives, tie them to a chair, and play that song, Stuck in the Middle with You, from Reservoir Dogs.
i thought the pershing and the pork products story was urban legend?
August22, you may be right. I'm not saying we shouldn't employ extreme measures, just suggesting that it might not have the immediate results we expect.
Jim The Kafir,
"i thought the pershing and the pork products story was urban legend?"
That's why I called it "apocryphal".
"We try to focus on the commonalities," he said. "We (Christians, Muslims, Jews) are all monotheistic religions and people of scripture."
Two of the three "abrahamic faiths," Christianity and Judaism, may have some slight connection to Islam based on the fact that all three are monotheisms, and of course Islam borrows a great many stories and figures, crazily distorted in most cases, from both of the prior monotheisms. But Islam is based on hostility to the earlier monotheisms, or rather to their adherents. Islam is a mix of pre-Islamic pagan Arab lore, Judaism, and Christianity, the latter two much twisted, and it originated in the felt need to have a belief-sytem that would both justify, and promote, conquest by Arabs who had already left the Arabian peninsula (the Jazirat al-arab) and been conquering the lands of the more settled, wealthy, advanced populations of Christians and Jews outside Arabia.
Christians and Jews may share "monotheism" with Islam. So what? Hinduism is not a monotheistic faith, and certainly not an "Abrahamic faith." But that Hindu walking down the street poses no threat, is not a menace, to Christians and Jews. Muslims do pose such a threat, are such a potential menace. That is why this focus on "a shared monotheism" and "the three abrahamic faiths" is so misplaced, so irrelevant, so misleading, so full of false implications.
I know this is off the subject but a heads up on a side note may be in order.
"The spinach ordeal and now the contaminated lettuce is waking up a lot of people to the fact they can get us through our food sources. Muslims shouldn't be hired to work ANYWHERE around our food. They should just be deported"
I would add that the illegal migrant worker population, so propitiously touted as indispensible to our economy, brings the following to the table on the e-coli issue as well as many other under reported health issues being brought to America by that segment of the US population.
It is common practice for the farm workers in Mexico to deficate in the fields they work in. This un sanitary practice brings its own rewards when that same population now takes positions of farm workers in the US. A news story this afternoon stated they(DOA)were looking at contaminated water supply, contaminated processing facilities AND OTHER FACTORS!
I wonder what some of those factors could be.
P.S. We already know that immigrants coming accross the Mexico/US border are bringing bacteria resistant strains of TB. E-coli should not surprise us!
Hugh,
Unfortunately, you are correct.
The liberals seem to have a death wish and conservatives are too stupid to perceive the threat.
And even if, in the off-chance that some individuals might someday see the light, there isn't time for them to come to their senses, so irredeemably stupid they must remain.
