Ahmadinejad - Hostage Taker?

177.jpg
Is that you, Mahmoud?

In the Moscow daily Kommersant, Daniel Pipes (thanks to James) discusses a new photo that has come to light. It may show the Thug-In-Chief of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, guarding the U.S. Embassy during the Iranian hostage crisis of 1979. (Many news links in the original.)

Is that really Mad Mahmoud? I can't tell from just two photos. What do you think?

Five former American hostages confirmed that Ahmadinejad as one of their captors. William J. Daugherty, a former intelligence officer, said he saw Ahmadinejad 8 to 10 times at the start of his captivity: "I recognized him right off. … I remember so much his hatred of Americans. It just emanated from every pore of his body."

BBC correspondent John Simpson recalled seeing Ahmadinejad on the embassy grounds. Abholhassan Bani-Sadr, a former president of Iran long living in exile, asserted that Ahmadinejad "wasn't among the decision-makers but he was among those inside the Embassy."

But Ahmadinejad's office denied these allegations and other hostage-takers, some of them now political opponents of Ahmadinejad – including Mohsen Mirdamadi, Hamid Reza, Abbas Abdi, Mohammad-Reza Khatami, and Saeed Hajjarian Jalaiepour – confirmed his account. One former American hostage denied Ahmadinejad had been a captor. Amir Taheri, editor-in-chief of a Tehran newspaper in the shah's time, concluded that "it is almost certain Ahmadinejad was not directly involved in the US embassy episode."

Thus did the issue die inconclusively: Ahmadinejad was for sure a central committee member of the main student group behind the embassy takeover, the "Office for Consolidating Unity between Universities and Theological Seminaries," leaving his precise role in the hostage-taking murky.

A new picture located by Kommersant re-opens this issue, providing new evidence that Ahmadinejad was not some backroom political type but in fact was a automatic gun-wielding hostage-taker. The person pictured here differs from the one in the Associated Press photograph, but should Ahmadinejad's identity as hostage-taker be established and accepted, it has two implications at this particularly delicate moment in U.S.-Iranian relations.

Is that Ahmadinejad in Kommersant's newly-located picture on the left? A recent photograph is on the right.

First, it brings back, especially for Americans over forty years old, the powerful and enduring humiliation of the 1979-1981 embassy takeover, with the likely consequence of hardening U.S. attitudes toward an Ahmadinejad-led government building nuclear weapons. The present alarm over his intentions will be fueled by a renewed mistrust.

Second, although Ahmadinejad is a powerful and dynamic politician, he has many domestic opponents and this evidence provides them with new evidence of his extremism, rashness, and unsuitability to govern the country, which they may be able to exploit.

Given the tepid reception to the picture that surfaced in June 2005, however, I expect that the information in this photograph will also be finessed. The machinery of international politics will likely find it too inconvenient for this unsavory history to be assimilated.

I would vote they are the same person. Based on a single photo from a bank or convenience store, people are convicted in courts of law. Why not the President of Iran?

"Book 'em Danno"

It is a bit hard to tell but I think the two pictures are of the same piece of crap. If only the CIA had the powers attributed to it by conspiracy buffs! A-Nut would be dead by now-just for his part in that embassy mess. Instead he is the demented president of a nuclear power. We really need to form an organization that can zap such scum before they get their hands on nukes. It would beat having to send the military all over the world all the time.

Yes, it is Ahmadinejad:

Perhaps the most damning evidence against Ahmadinejad with regard to the hostage-taking came from Bani-Sadr, Iran’s president during the early days of the Khomeini revolution.

He has adamantly affirmed Ahmadinejad was one of the kidnappers who held 52 Americans for 444 days. He said the former student leader was in the embassy throughout the hostage crisis.

“Ayatollah Khomeini’s deputy, Ayatollah Khamenei, demanded of him a constant report on what is happening in the embassy,” he said.

When told Ahmadinejad denied the accusation, Bani-Sadr laughed.

“What do you want?” he said. “That he should not deny it? I was president, and I know the details, and I am telling you for sure that he was there, though his role was not organizational. He was the chief reporter to Khamenei.”

Sadr added that Ahmadinejad initially opposed the hostage-taking but changed his mind once Khomeini gave his support.

How many psychotic clowns have that same exact same nose and hair? I only question that they appear to be the same age in both pictures. I would place my bet he's the same guy. The CIA has already seen this picture and done an analysis of the distances between key facial figures and they know the answer. So does everyone else who needs to know. They just aren't spilling the beans.

A-nut-job was there according to acounts of those who were hostages. I have seen another photo that looks like this liar also.

WHERE IS GERALDO RIVERA when you need him?

It sure is him. Look at the nose, identical...

The nose knows.

"“Ayatollah Khomeini’s deputy, Ayatollah Khamenei, demanded of him a constant report on what is happening in the embassy,” he said." from Doctor Bulldog above.

Khamenei actually runs the country, and for some reason we ignore that he is an admitted part of those in charge of the hostage taking. We don't need to prove the President is involved when Khamenei was already involved.

Current Supreme Ruler of Iran.

Nonetheless, its clear they have put together the all anti-American team, including the Supreme Ruler and the President.

Guilty!

But I would save myself the embarassment of admitting this particular photos as evidence; it looks like a REUTERS photoshop-paste-up to me.

Somehow, I just don't think the SOB will have the same baggy eyes twenty years ago as he does today -- sorry I just don't buy it.

However, every Persian that I know (more than a few) has told me that there is no question in anyones mind in Iran, that Ahmadinejad was involved in the hostage event.

He's guilty all right; but this photo is a set up to embarass anyone who bases their convictions about his guilt on them.

Six or eight months from now, the story about these photos will change.

You seem to believe whatever the American Jewish controlled media tells you.... Its because of this sort of scewed and inaccurate reporting
that people still think that WMDS exist in Iraq.

Who is he?
They really don’t have any idea who this guy is.
http://www.thepeoplescube.com/red/viewtopic.php?t=492

Although, come to think of it, his head seems bigger now. It could be because of all the antisionist propaganda he's been brainwashed with.

Either way it's the same haircut, and... hold on, check this picture:

http://www.newprophecy.net/Mahmoud_Ahmadinejad_1.jpg

It can't be the same guy. The guy on the old picture has ten times thicker beard.

Damn it, Anti-Zionist... Why can't you edit your posts here? :/

Here's another picture, compare his beard with the old picture:

http://hcgtv.com/media/news/mahmoud_ahmadinejad_ba.jpg

http://www.newprophecy.net/Mahmoud_Ahmadinejad_1.jpg

Nope, can't be the same guy. IMANUTJOB's eyebrows are somewhat more narrow.

It's him.

It looks exactly like him, the perfect likeness of a man with an unusual look: tall forehead, narrow eyes, same cowlick, same ear shape, same nose. The chance of it being another person with the same unusual looks is infinitesmal.

Especially factoring in the perfect political likeness of the gun wielding hostage taker and Prez Mahmoud.

There is no doubt that Ahmadinejad was invovled in the hostage takings. But I doubt the picture on the left is him. That looks exactly like a young Bin Laden!!!!!!!! Wouldn't you agree?

...the American Jewish controlled media tells you...

You don't see too much American media do you?

From the major networks to Reuters, the islamic bias is pretty brazen.

If there is one network that is say, "pro-Israeli"; do tell us -- which one is it?

I for one, am sick of the extreme "pro-islamic" slant on all news coverage.

Oh yeah, which islamic country was it that recently bought out a controlling interest in FOX?

Now, let me see ....

Although there are a lot of similarities, I can't be 100% sure it is he. I'm not even certain that my own passport photo is authentic.

Looks like him to me. Hasn't a couple of the guys who were held hostage in 1979 come out and said it's him? I'm sure they never forgot.

Thus, by thier fruits you shall know them...

"That looks exactly like a young Bin Laden!!!!!!!! Wouldn't you agree?"

Now that you mention it, yeah. It's the same infamous pose we've seen Bin Ladin wielding weapons with before.

Maybe he will choke to death on the heaping portion of hubris he loves to dish out. Not that I am supporting killing him, my goodness, I would NEVER suggest that he should be assassinated, but were it to happen, I doubt that I would lose any sleep over it.

@Ramon
ARAB OIL MONEY owns US MEDIA not JEWS.

@Ramon

Ram it up your ass!
you're a typical muslim Jew hater!!! Give me the time and place and we'll settle it between you and me (you-Muslim and me Zionist Christian)

Either way guys, the old photo simply isn't good enough to judge his facial features. You can barely see his eyes, and it's kind of blurred out since it's old.

Ramon your comments are pretty worthless, it's obvious we're part of the International Jewish Media Conspiracy (So is Phil Hendrie, he announces it before every broadcast).

As for the photos, I don't know. They look remarkably similar, but you have to remember these people have been inbreeding for a looooong time.

The resolution of the photo is too low as well, plus his ears aren't shown.

Oh and Ramon, the Jews don't own the media in the US, if anything, the media is biased in favour of Islam. Haven't you heard about BBC?

Ya know, I am starting to think that these Jews are some kind of superhuman or superior alien race. I mean, how could they control these billion + muslims w/o having some superhuman or advanced alien intelligence. It’s the end of the world and there is 1 Jew and 1000 muslims left on Earth. The Jew is busy in his garden while the muslims sit in the sand debating how they can get rid of the lone Jew that is standing in the way of them ever making any progress.

I think it is Ahmadinejad. Regardless of whoever he is, though, the man pictured is pretty important. Note the rifle. It is an H&K G3 instead of the cheap and ubiquitious AK47.

I retract my previous statement that it was Bin Laden. Bin Laden his thin eyebrows.

Above ISLAMSFORLOSERS said:

"We really need to form an organization that can zap such scum before they get their hands on nukes. It would beat having to send the military all over the world all the time."

Amen to that. Assassination, currently a taboo topic, needs to be revisited.

Unbelievable. I was going to write "Bin Laden has thin eyebrows." Please get an edit option, this is getting on my nerves!!!!

This may sound strange, but it may provide the answer to why the hostage taker looks so much like Ahmedinejad but has some key differences like beard thickness and eyebrows that point to being a different person. Also the hostage taker looks to old in the photo to be the current president.

The hostage taker may be a close relative of Ahmedinejad. Does anyone know if he has an older brother? Or perhaps an uncle or cousin?

It appears all those jihadist scum look alike. When in doubt, off them and then let God sort it out.

Malinois-

Thanks for the link. I agree 100 percent with the article. Terrorists today are the pirates and bandits of times past and therefore are out of the bounds of international law. That makes them fair game for a hit in my book.

Busted!

One of the hostaces made statements that Amhedinijad was a guard he never forgets a face.

http://rescueattempt.tripod.com/id28.html

I had also heard a former hostage said a guard asked what to do about the hostages asking for food and water and the alleged Amhedinijad guard said "Nevermind them, we're going to kill them anyway" but I can't seem to find anything to back that up now.

Never the less, if A-hole was a guard or cruel interrogator, it would certainly explain why he is such a hardliner and so defiant about the US--his only exposure to Americans being weak, scared and pliable hostages.

I cannot believe our leaders are not eliminating this threat swiftly. They are playing russian roulette with a loaded gun with their in-action and talk of sanctions. Unbelievable...

I have no problem with Beasty Boys participation in the hostage taking. But I think this is a doctored photo. All that dark around the neck is telling. The light source is comming from the upper left, but there are shadows on the left side of the neck, and all around it. It may be Beasty's head, but maybe not his body. I'm not a photo expert, but it looks suspicious to me...

It doesn't look like the same person to me.

Whether or not he was involved, I can't say, but this picture to my eyes is clearly someone else.

It’s Mahmoud, albeit a 37 year younger version. The nose knows for sure.

It’s not Bin Laden.

Now onto Ramon, Please ignore his posts. Do not respond, do not incite. Don’t rise to his baiting. This troll will find another bridge to hide under – if we shun him.

YankeeD –
The Zionist were of a Socialist venue. Are you sure you want to be claimed as a Zionist Christian?

KnightHawk

It's him -- there's no mistaking that nose.

Ramon - I smell protocols!

Not the same man in the former picture -- not the same man in this -- I think Ahmadinijad would have been 25 or so when that pic on the left was taken -- it looks like he had not aged in the intervening 30 years in the slightest. The man on the left looks to be in his thirties, and also appears to be long boned and therefore probably fairly tall. Ahmadinijad is only 5'4" or 5'5".

Also, I think this is a silly and unfortunate sideshow -- aren't this man's genocidal pronouncements sufficient to know who we're dealing with? Aren't the Iranian's secret nuclear projects and their boastful threats of "Death to America" sufficient for us to know the man and the regime is a very nasty piece of work?

This should not be something being discussed at this site, in my opinion.

"You seem to believe whatever the American Jewish controlled media tells you..."

Ramon, YOU believe a pile of rubbish that is larger than the biggest landfill in the world. You believe in a "prophet" who was an evil sex maniac and a murderer. You believe in a system of mind-control that demands that every creature who breathes submits to this pile of filth without question, or DIE.

We have a choice of what we embrace as truth. YOU DO NOT. You have to believe in the garbage that you believe in, or you will be killed by your mind-numbed "bretheren." We are allowed to weigh the evidence and determine what is true and what isn't. YOU, on the other hand, can be approached with the truth about your "prophet," and your "holy book," but YOU must believe in your pile of filth, regardless of what the truth is.

Don't come here and tell US what we believe and what is true. You believe in the biggest pile of nonsense and stupidity in the universe. The village idiot is giving physics advice to Stephen Hawking.

The similar schnoz is striking, but I think similar noses happen much more often, and are thus less compelling than, say, matching eyes, ears, or hairline.

I do think Ahmadinejad's nose may come to a bit more of a point; the ears on the guy in the photo seem to stick out at slightly more of angle. While both of them have that helmet-like hairstyle, it sits differently on the their heads. And the eyes, as other posters have noted, look too old.

The guy on the left has some crow's feet and bags under his eyes, and the Thug-in-Chief doesn't strike me as the type to go for Botox or related procedures. I'm sure he wants all of his facial muscles functioning to express his indignation at... everything, including some things that haven't been invented yet.

KnightHawk - I consider myself a Zionist atheist Catholic... Whatever the original ethics of Zionism, or for that matter Irgun, neither has much meaning to me today as regards Israel's nationhood or policies. Zionism is simply the notion that if there is one place on this earth where Jews are able to seek sanctuary (Zion), it should be Judah and Judea and Jerusalem...

The same argument would apply to the English in England or the Arabs in Arabia. Though of course neither group has a history of worldwide persecution and nobody disputes their right to sovereignty.

To be against Zionism is to deny Jews their place amongst humanity as Jews. One might equally deny Africans displaced by persecution their right to resettle in Africa, if such were to aleviate that persecution. So I feel it is wrong to be anti-Zionist as that meaning now applies... ie, it's nothing to do with Bolshevism and everything to do with recognition of Jews not as a race or religion but as a people united by a nationhood that has been pivotal, in so many ways, in forming the values and ethics of our own Western societies, to the point of overt and repeated exploitation and persecution...

Jews didn't force Christianity or Islam on any of us, and they never submitted to any such bastardisation of their religion (which of course is why the Romans, Christians and Moslems tried to decimate them in the first place).

Zionism is justice, and one way or another we all have a stake in its defence.

...which of course is why the Romans, Christians and Moslems tried to decimate them in the first place ...

I'm not sure if you are reading Karen Armstrong's History of the world or what, but had it not been for the Christians protecting them, the Jews would have been deciamted long ago.

In fact, had it not been for Christian resistance of NAZI-ism, Hitler would have killed millions more Jews; and Israel would never have come into being.

Historical facts all that can be easily verified by even wanna-be Rhode scholars; unless of course you like revisionist and relative versions of historical reality.

I see a definite resemblence, but I agree that TOO little has changed between 1979 and 2006 as far as the aging process is concerned. The 1979 photo looks like it could have been taken of President "Tom" yesterday. President "Tom" may well have been one of the "students" involved in this incident, but I do not think that this photo is anywhere near proof of that.

This of course is not an issue in my mind. As far as I'm concerned President "Tom" is the biggest nutjob holding high office on the face of the Earth, and he's got a lot of competition for THAT title. And on top of that, he wants nukes for the sole purpose of bringing about the end of the world. I think THIS issue trumps whether or not he was part of a hostage-taking incident.

Does Ahmad have a twin?

witness - I had in mind the crusader's slaughter of Jews in the Holy Land, as well as the numerous European pogroms throughout the middle ages. These were rationalised in much the same manner as Islam's antisemitism - as justified sucessors to the Abrahamic covenant.

Christendom has, for the most part, redeemed itself in this respect. Islam has not. I wouldn't give a monkey's about the meaning of "zionism" if the islamonazis weren't using it to attempt to legitimise antisemitism. If Moslem's are too humiliated by their own bigotry to call a Jew a Jew, and admit that that's why they hate them, then I will happilly regard myself as a Zionist along with them.

Domestos and Et.Al.
The point for posing my question - is to carefully to enlighten this board with the terms we use.

Not everyone knows the basis of Zion, or where the term 'Zionist' was derived. I am a descendant of the tribe of Benjamin whom cannot go to my historic home area because it is in the muslim dominated area northeast of Jerusalem. I am a Christian by birth and an Anglican by choice. I truly believe that The God I worship does not want all this evil done in his name…

In the Book of Common Prayer there is a blessing, which goes:
“The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God,
and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be amongst you, and remain with you always.”

One last comment…
Had the British not taught the Arabs deceit and subterfuge – I do not believe that Arafat’s Uncle would have hated the Jews as bad. The Grand Mufti taught this same distrust and hatred to Arafat!

Had the British allowed a natural path of immigration to Israel, instead of restricting; then Hitler would not have had millions of Jews to slaughter.

KnightHawk

The shape of the head and nose are unmistakably identical in both photos.

It's Ahmadinejad all right.

I also remember reading that some of the hostages said they were able to identify him by his VOICE.

Knighthawk - i agree, though of course the mufti was also a "zionist" of sorts, if for very different reasons... But yes, we the British have our fair share of culpability. I wish those old-school Brits who bang on about Irgun and the King David Hotel episode would understand this when they claim Israel was "founded on terrorism", rather than a legitimate fight against a military overlord complicit in European genocide, which as you correctly point out, we were.

witness - I had in mind the crusader's slaughter of Jews in the Holy Land, as well as the numerous European pogroms throughout the middle ages. These were rationalised in much the same manner as Islam's antisemitism - as justified sucessors to the Abrahamic covenant

You are aware that the islamic conquest of the Holy Land occurred prior to the crusades?

Also, the so-called Holy Land was Christian and Jewish prior to the islamic conquest. Peter went to Christian cities like Tyre; the early Christians and Jews were situated in Jerusalem long before Mohammad was born?

Do you believe that the islamic conquest of the Holy Land was not done by force?

Have you been taught that these regions peacefully became islamic? This is not historically correct; it is to the contrary.

And the Byzantine Empire that was Christian extend down to this region until it was almost destroyed by islamic invaders, is that not correct? I assure you that the perponderance of historical scholarship on the matter indicates that it is so.

Are you not aware that Pope Urbane declared the first crusade as a response to a plea for help from the Byzantine Rulers as they were on the verge of collapse and that the Christians in the Holy Land were libereated?

May I politely suggest that you re-read the history of this period -- you seem to have a mistaken notion of the facts.

Is it just me???

I think that he was also one of the FLYING MONKEYS in the Wizard of Oz....

Article in Komersant

Best to copy this into a word processor that will wrap lines, or into spell check,
which wraps.

The original article strongly implies that Ahmadinejad is playing us now just as the hostage takers did from 1979 to 1981.

"And the matter still has not led to an answer to the basic question: is he a terrorist or not?

When they seized the embassy in 1979, the Iranians forced the entire world to consider them a force to be reckoned with. By dragging out the negotiations with their various demands, they held the American administration in a state of constant tension and showed American citizens just how powerless and helpless their government and army were. But that was not all.

All of the other countries who had originally been quietly delighted to see the United States fall flat on its face were soon forced to kowtow to the demands of the Iranians. According to veterans of that era, fear of sharing the fate of the American diplomats obliged the representatives of other countries to make significant concessions to the Iranian leadership. For example, construction on industrial projects and similar undertakings that were begun before the Islamic revolution, under the reign of the Shah, continued practically for free. The USSR was not exempted from having to make such overtures towards a deeply anti-Soviet regime. Participants in the seizure of the embassy gained experience in manipulating the world's superpowers on meager means."

"Among the hundreds of Iranians in the pictures, only one – the student with the submachine gun – is clearly posing, as though he wanted to be remembered by history. And President Ahmadinejad has done everything in his power to make sure that he will be remembered for a long time to come.

Evgeny Zhirnov"

@KnightHawk

you ask:

"The Zionist were of a Socialist venue. Are you sure you want to be claimed as a Zionist Christian?"

Yes, I'm sure. Zionist Christian fits me perfectly. BTW, A community of true, practicing Christians would be very socialistic.

The ethos of the kibbutz (Shomer Ha-Tzoer movement) in Israel where I went at age 17 to perfect my Hebrew was this:

"From each according to his abilities. To each according to his needs."

And we followed it.

@Domestos

I didn't get a chance to see Knighhawk's question and respond until a moment ago. I also saw your response just now after I finished posting.

Just wanted to say: Thank you for your response. It was far more eloquent than I could have done and the sentiments in it are beautiful and inspiring.

Thank you again.

Our State Department will say 'no, it is not him' just to make the issue go away.

A simple way to confirm this would be for the Americans or Russians, or even the French to open up their intelligence files. Come on the goverments intelligence knows, if he was or was not involved. We probably even got intelligence files on him from Iraq that we could use.

If I was one of the hostage victims I would file a class action suit and have the intelligence files opened under the Freedom of Information Act. Maybe as US citizens we have the right to do that anyway, we were all victims of the hostage situation. Anyone feeling ill from emotial stress from experiencing it, or feeling victimized at the loss of our tax dollars being spent? I think I am more of a victim from seeing Jimmy Carter in office than anything else.

yep, that is pres tom for sure. They have the same nose and same hair styles.

Yes, the 2 guys on the photos have the same nose, same eyebrows, same hair styles, same forehead as if they took the pictures at the same time. Why the Iranian chief doesn’t look much older after 27 years? No gray hair, still full head of hair, same figure…. That’s remarkable of him! Look can be deceiving, especially a photo.

He got a PhD in civil engineering. A highly intelligent man! He must know how to keep in shape.

Witness - as previously stated, I have no dispute regarding Islam's obsession with antisemitism at any time. However I apologise for the obvious offence caused by pointing out that Christians have, over the course of many centuries, persecuted Jews for pretty much the same reasons, notwithstanding of course that they are commanded to do so, and we aren't.

Maybe the guys at CSI can figure this out, you know, with the right algorithm.

Anyway, of course it is the same piece of excrement. Hopefully, when Israel attacks they will flush him away.

Look at the shape of the head. The head on the left like the tip of a football (as in U.S. football) -- rather pointed. The head on the right looks round.

Also, does the guy on the right look thirty years older than the guy on the left? If I had been handed the two photos without knowing anything about them, I wouldn't have guessed such an age gap. These pics are inconclusive, a big Maybe.

"I think that he was also one of the FLYING MONKEYS in the Wizard of Oz...."

LOL, njreed. Yes. I knew I'd seen him before. Only he wasn't a monkey. He's one of the Orem—the one who says "You killed her" to Dorothy after she liquefies the wicked witch. The Orem, by the way, are metaphorical Islamists—zombies who chant monotonously, "O we are...the Orem. O we are...the Orem."

Thanks for the laugh and the gratuitous fare down memory lane.
