An update on the foiled plot from last summer. From the Washington Times, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
A foiled British terror plot to blow up 10 passenger aircraft with liquid bombs was meant to occur over U.S. cities, a senior FBI official says.Mark Mershon, head of the FBI's New York field office, made the observation at the Infosecurity 2006 conference in New York on Oct. 24. The conference was reported on this week by Government Security News.
"The plan was bring them down over U.S. cities, not over the ocean," Mershon said, adding the plotters' goal was to maximize damage and loss of life.
More madrassas and other centers that train mule-ahs need to be blasted into rubble for plots like these. Less Muslim "holy" men, less plots.
Major praise to the British for stopping this.
This plan is far less plausible. In the over-ocean scenario, they could have exploded planes simultaneously. In the over-cities scenario, they may have gotten a couple down, but in every other plane in the air, passengers would have found out, and every vaguely muslim-looking passenger would have been Flight 93'd.
It could never have been a September 11 in terms of magnitude.
These guys aren't hardened Chechen guerrillas or plucky 'palestinian' freedom fighters, they're just plebs, nobodies, farties. Like the 7/7 Islamic terrorists, they're suburban, completely anglicised working class lads. They're from Crawley, a wealthy, predominantly middle class town in Sussex. They (and no doubt their extended families) probably worked at Gatwick or in the surrounding industrial estates.
I used to live on their street, the whole area is what the govt and lefties would call a 'ghetto', ie. middle class, relatively low crime with good housing and local services. But almost exclusively Moslem. The local primary school is (unofficially) exclusively Moslem.
So if the problem is 'social exclusion' as the moonbats tell us, why didn't me and my mates become terrorists? What's different about these scum?
Are we gonna let 2% of the population drag our flag through the mud? Because if we're not prepared to admit the truth about Islam then soon anyone with a British passport will be considered a security threat.
Light punishments probably. After all, the plan didn't go through and if they give them the punishment they deserve then muslims in Britain will riot.

Most of the affected employees were in close contact to an "islamic movement"; and approximately 10 of them were very close to the terror group Tamilen-Tigers in Sri Lanka.
