Electronic jihad's cyber soldiers

Internet Jihad Update from AFP, with thanks to DP:

PARIS -- They neither carry weapons nor lay ambushes for soldiers in Iraq or in Afghanistan. But thousands of radical Islamists are waging a different kind of war from behind their computers, called "electronic jihad."

These radical Islamic sites have sprung up over the past few years, specializing in the organization and the coordination of concerted cyber-attacks against Israeli, American, Catholic, and Danish Web sites.

All you need to join this anonymous cyberworld is an address registered in Iraq or in tribal zones in Pakistan, and basic computer savvy to carry out concerted attacks in which internauts from the four corners of the world take part.

Among their most high-profile attacks to date was that on the Danish Internet site of daily Jyllands-Posten, which outraged Muslims - and sparked violence worldwide - by publishing controversial caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed in September 2005.

"It is the Internet version of jihad: you can telecharge viruses which will be activated at the planned date ... I downloaded one which was called 'Jihad reminder'," said Anne Giudicelli, a French specialist who runs a "terrorism" consultancy monitoring radical Islamic Web sites.

Another new avenue for Muslims to stop free speech. This is a great avenue for the wannabe terrorist who doesn't want blood stained hands. Of course, as the koran states, the reward is not as great in the afterlife for those who do not fight for allah.

Anyways, he/she can wage their form of jihad from his mud walled craphole.

I hope JW/DW has a great firewall !

These ignorant pukes are all over Yahoo's Associated Press "discussions".

It's actually fun to attend these sessions of comment on AP's news stories ("AP is crap"), because, if one takes part, it is almost like attending a free electronic shooting gallery where one plays star wars, and one can be a star shooter.

But it's only venting and a digression.

The real heroes are our men in Iraq and elsewhere.

Hear that Ibrahim, you traitor.

There are lots of infidel computer experts, who are just as adept at cyberjihadis at wrecking someones site, as are muslims. If we could convince American 14 year olds that it is fun and patriotic to destroy
Islamic web sites, Islamic web sites would nearly cease to exist. There may be a good number of computer literate muslims, but they are greatly outnumbered by Americas talented 14 year olds.

Greetings all,
I have noticed of late on the BBC HYS Forums & other net outlets that there seems to be a concerted effort by Muslims of a radical persuasion to use that platform for propaganda - another front of the electronic Jihad. Their words, carefully chosen, are used to push the correct buttons with the Wests new "useful idiots".

I suspect also that alot of false names are being used by Muslims - particularly from Australia for some reason. They use bog standard western names but their use of language, lacking the subtle nuances of a native English speaker, almost always gives them away.

Cyberjihad is not an abstract concept, it is a multi faceted enterprise.

Americaningermany...I use AVG free edition. It is good at catching a variety of viruses, including trojans, as they come in, it can also be schedualed to scan on a regular basis. It identifies viruses, and allows you to put them into a virus vault and delete them from there.

you can get it for free here:

http://www.download.com/

Type in 'AVG free edition' on the search engine and it will go to that page.

Also you can read the review titled , The truth about AVG free edition...

Works for me...good luck...

Americaningermany, google the name of the trojan and a cure or cleaner for it will be online at any of the main antivirus protection companies. Go with a name you recognize any professional AV software company will work, you can also get free software from tucows, com

Most of the cyber jihadi are script kiddies with very little real skill but they are learning and if our own security is breached they could cause a few problems. Those of us in the US have little to fear but something as simple as posting our foreign friends names and address could endanger them especially if they live in or near a muslim enclave. The US and a select group of allies are not the only ones at war.

This is something that is in the making for many years now, a qaida strategy.

Even on one webmaster forum one turkish guy admitted that his is hacking websites and he likley did.

If you have any forums on your site make sure that you blog proxy access to your forum or blog. There's one very good forum software "yabb" that includes that security feature amongs many other nice features.

Let's look forward to the day when some Muslims will plunge their laptops into the bathtub and become Cyber-Shaheeds.

So far, all the cyber jihadists that I've encountered are just running commonly available hacks downloaded from hacker websites. No originality! If you want to see a recent site that was hacked by a Turkish Muslim hacker, Akincilar, go here:

He's been VERY active lately.

remote_control: "Cyber-Shaheeds".

Oh - now that's a good one (I really did laugh out loud!). Belongs in the anti-jihad lexicon along with "terrorist in situ".

I've noticed this, too.

Robert please make sure your site is the most uptdate in terms of protection, since 1) you speak the truth and 2) you speak it calmly, professionally to anyone who will listen and 3) they hate your guts for it (both radical muslims and good little nonmuslim dhimmis).

The cyber jihad pays my rent. I kill the viruses those brainwashed protien deficient muslim nutbars unleash.

I'm conflicted - on the one hand I'd like to send them all a thankyou for making my clients call me to come and fix their computers - on the other hand if I ever met one of them, I'd take them on a tour of the back roads while they are tied to the back of my pickup truck with a computer tied around their necks.

Most viruses created by cyber-jihadi are not very sophisticated and are easy to kill. Most of the bugs I see these days are more than 2 or 3 years old. People only get these bugs when they do stupid things on the net.

1) I have no sympathy for the people who surf porn while using Internet Explorer - they are just asking to get hit by a virus. Browse the internet with Mozilla or Netscape. It's interesting that the millions of porn sites that hit people with viruses are run by Muslims - isn't there some islamic rhetoric that says that porn is bad ?? Their religion isn't the only reason that muslim men are a bunch of sexually repressed mysogynists.

2) Using msn messenger - if you are a msn messenger user and someone or anyone sends you a link - don't click on the link. nuff said

3) Knowing how to kill popups is a course everyone should take. Believe it or not - you didn't just win a 6 foot wide plasma screen tv when a popup says so.

4) Don't use Outlook Express for your email client. There are too many security flaws and too many reasons to mention why you shouldn't be using Outlook Express to manage your email. Get Mozilla Thunderbird or use the Nescape email client or Eudora or any of the other email clients.

5) The Windows xp firewall is about as effective as is the United Nations - get a decent firewall like PC-Cillin or even the free Zonealarm.

6) Don't use Norton Antivirus because there has existed for 5 years several viruses and hacks that are specifically designed to blow right through Norton security and walk past Norton antivirus. As well, the bugs that target Norton continue to evolve as fast as Norton comes up with patches. Use AVG free edition - it's better than nothing at all.

I could go on but what is really important to remember is that if you are aware of the threats posed by cyber jihad and the internet, it's easy to counter them.

Hmmm - if only the threat of islam to the free world were as easy to counter.

So, thanks islam for your cyber jihad and by the way, burn in hell you inbred whacko religious pukes.

When I sign into jihadwatch.org I get warning boxes that come up saying that there is a problem with the validity of the security certificate and also a box that says that info I enter could be sent to an unsecure site! Is this just my dial-up connection or my computer that causes this and does this put me at any risk when i sign into jw.org?

BTW, I think duh_swami's idea of enlisting some of the West's multitude of computer warriors in shutting down Islamist websites is a tremendous idea! Would it be safe to assume that someone, somewhere is attempting to coordiante such an effort on a significant scale?
