HARDLINE cleric Abu Bakar Bashir today told his fellow Indonesian Muslims that if they wanted to go on jihad, they should do so outside the country.“If you want to go on jihad, do not do it here (in Indonesia), but in the southern Philippines or even in Iraq,” Bashir told members and supporters of the Indonesian Mujahideen Council (MMI) in a sermon at a mosque in Kediri, East Java province, the state Antara news agency said.
Bashir chairs the MMI, an umbrella organisation advocating the implementation of Islamic Sharia law.
His sermon came as he was commenting on the “jihad” by the key players in the 2005 Bali bombings, for which he had been accused of advance knowledge and of having sanctioned the action.
He said that the Bali bombers had been on jihad but unfortunately “not at the right time or place”. He did not elaborate.
“Therefore I ask MMI followers not to imitate them because (their actions) are harmful. They miscalculated,” Bashir said.

Add him to your list: the list you bring out when discussing jihad. The list you consult when confronted by the argument that jihad is a peaceful, spiritual struggle. The list you point to when trying to demonstrate the pervasive and widely held acceptance of non-peaceful jihad. When you find yourself arguing against "that doesn't represent real Islam", point your opponent to Abu Bakir Bashir:
"You really should be trying to convince him and all his followers" can be your reply.

And if people can't learn anything after what he has already done and said, then they're already beyond learning. How many people have been murdered in Indonesia because of him? Probably thousands. We may need to get some people in there who can train a few of the local Christians in sniper expertise. And give them the best equipment so they are able to defend themselves from vermin like this when they see the need.
So why can't we tell Muslims the same thing? Everytime they come to our shores, just say, sorry you'll have to wage jihad in another country and send them on their way.
