Quoting the Qur'an and referring to Islamic law. And that's how they gain recruits, while self-proclaimed "moderates" in the West do nothing to counter their Islamic arguments, and take issue only with the non-Muslim spokesmen who dare to point out that this is happening. "Video of Mujahideen Training and Operating in China ('Eastern Turkestan') on Islamist Website," from MEMRI:
On November 8, 2006, Islamist websites posted a 32-minute video (http://switch3.castup.net/cunet/gm.asp?ai=214&ar=vcd-wmv&ak=null ) showing mujahideen training and operating in the Xinjiang (Shing Yang) District in western China, referred to in the video as "Eastern Turkestan."[...]
Next, the film presents evidence indicating involvement of the Islamic Party in Eastern Turkestan in the production of bombs and hand grenades, and in attacks. The film then shows two masked mujahideen delivering messages urging Muslims in Eastern Turkestan to engage in jihad and to establish an Islamic state in Eastern Turkestan.
The speakers claim that since the Chinese government compels Muslim youth to know Communist ideology and is determined to corrupt Muslim youth's beliefs and morals, Muslims must wage jihad and free themselves from Chinese rule. They add that under these circumstances, jihad is not just a collective duty incumbent upon the Muslim community as a whole (fard kifaya), but is also a personal duty (fard 'ayn) incumbent upon every single Muslim, and that therefore all Muslims must participate in jihad either directly [i.e., by fighting] or indirectly [i.e., by assisting the mujahideen].
Among the Koranic verses the speakers cite are the following: "O Prophet, wage jihad with the unbelievers and hypocrites and be thou harsh with them; their refuge is Hell and evil homecoming [9:73]." "O believers, take not My enemy and your enemy for friends, offering them love, though they have disbelieved in the truth that has come to you, expelling the Messenger and you because you believe in Allah your Master. If you go forth to wage jihad for My sake and seek My good pleasure, [but you] secretly [love] them, I know very well what you conceal and what you publish…[60:1]"
[...]
At the end, the video presents a quote attributed to the Chinese governor of Eastern Turkestan: "If we wish to end the crisis in Eastern Turkestan, we must kill the religious among the Muslims. This is the only way to control Eastern Turkestan… The Islamic religion is inconsistent with Communism. If we leave Islam [in peace] we will not be able to rule Eastern Turkestan. We [thus] have to eliminate all traces of the Islamic religion."
Hint to jihadists in China:
DO NOT FUCK WITH THE CHINESE. THEY WILL CRUSH YOU MERCILESSLY.
On second thought, go right ahead...
Being an investor, I would say the smart money is on China.
sometimes it takes a simple communist soldier to clear out beaucratic crap. I am impressed with the Chinese. They have the right idea none of this Western self doubt stuff. They know if you want to eliminate Islam's threat you must eliminate Islam. Period.
The Chinese were good allies against Axis power japan in WWII. I would that they become a democracy as i know the people of China are on our side and want that too. But for now I think the Communist govt of China is the best bet to clear out the rotting flesh stench that is Islam from that area they mention.
FIGHT THE ISLAMIC NAZIS !
We haven't heard much from China lately.
This article may underscore why.
Maybe now the Chinese COmmunist Party will drop its talk about the Americans' "blood debt" they allegedly owe to the Chinese.
They may instead be worried about the Chinese people's alleged "blood debt" to the Islamosphere.
According to the Uyghur Human rights Project, there are a number of officially recognized religious groups in the Xinjiang area, of which the majority muslim segment is the most "strictly controlled."
I bet. And it will get even more strictly controlled (read: smackdown) as the inevitable jihadist rhetoric gets louder. I just hope the Chinese government, in its usual ham-handed fashion, doesn't use this as a pretext to throttle its Christians, Buddhists and Daoists in that region.
Don't be so quick to praise the Chinese govt. They clamped down very hard on the Chinese house churches.
Anyway, a different news article says that Islam is growing in China:
Islam Grows In Red China. Not sure how much of that is propaganda. Don't forget also China's cozy relationship with countries like Iran.
The pure communism and the catholicism that lived in Middle Ages and in Spain until XVIII century has been the unique regimes that have pushed the islam and have been removed. Nor the democracy, neither liberalism, nazism or multiculturalism. Remember that
Crushing a rebellion with merciless force would provide the Chinese an excellent opportunity to showcase its power to the remainder of the world, which includes Taiwan. They probably would receive a pass for their use of disproportionate force, because they would be acting intraterritorially and because they're freaking China.
It would not be a pretty day for Human Rights. The Chinese have been known to "cuff" prisoner's fingers together using a device that clasps tighter around the prisoners' fingers the harder they try to pull it out.
If you ask me, it's worse than Guantánamo.
Hopefully they will be smart about it and not only crush the beligerent islamics in thier midst, but also plug the holes that let them in in the first place.
China might be a good ally if they know that thier future is on the line as well because of these nazis w/ turbans.
...mmmm sweet and sour pork washed down w/ some good beer..
Evidence is showing that religious persecution is lightening up. Normal Vatican-China relations are forseen by as soon as the end of the decade, and missionaries are being tolerated more. Yes, preachers are still sent to gulags by the boxcarful, but in comparative terms, things are better.
The Chinese understand Islam better than we do. They do realize that the islamic religion intends to displace the state. They also believe Arabs to be poor fighters, who talk a lot but can never overpower anyone. They think Muslims of other ethnicities are even worse, and hence no serious threat.
Above all, the Chinese want favorable trade relations. They view the Olympics as their grand début, and they don't want unrest in the runup. They will quietly dispose of jihad leaders in their customary fashion.
This is not going too well, and I am not sure that a harsh China crackdown would be good for us (US).
One consequence of a "pull out" in Iraq is that it would prove that "peace keeping" does not work. I don't believe this, but the UN could never assemble the resources, troops, or weapons the US can - let alone the will. If we can't do it, the UN and the world will have cover not to intervene anywhere.
In a few short months Somalia has been lost to Islam, without even the warlords to oppose them. Now they threaten Ethiopia, who has Sudan on their border. Poor Chad is now threatened by Sudan (if you were very cynical and suspend your sympathy for those displaced in Darfur, you might see it as a muslim invasion).
I am very concerned about Africa, because Islam seems to take hold (violently) among not only the poor, and uneducated - but the uncultured. African culture is gone. It has been ravaged by famine, disease, and Islam. Rwanda. Need I say more.
Then there is Thailand - lost to the Islamists. Just the beginning of an Asian Jihad.
So in a world where the UN may deploy the usual token force sometime in the future - unusually they will come under severe attack (by emboldened Jihadis).
China may not conclude that we are "vulnerable", just feckless. Russia (who we have be retraining) may decide to deal more harshly with the Chechen terrorist.
All of this is manageable with the right mindset. We do not have it. Our "policies" will become a problem again as we condemn China and Russia (and Israel of course), while Islamists agitate us.
As untidy as Iraq may be, no Americans are prepared for a multi front war on terror (as the Democrats claim).
I think the Chinese will decide that Islam is much more of an existential threat to their rule than Falun Gong was, and deal with the imams accordingly

Nice to see a post from Franze for what seems like the first one in a while.
As for this thread, frankly, and to Agrippa's comments in particular, considering China's mischief elsewhere -- as one of Saddam's key helpers in oil-for-food, and more currently aiding North Korea's and Iran's nuclear weapons ambitions and supporting the regime in Khartoum to name just a few, perhaps a nice little Muslim insurgency would concentrate the Chinese politicians' minds just a little. But then again, look at their born-again Stalinist neighbour to the north, Yeltsin, fighting Islamists at home, while aiding and abetting them virutally everywhere else.
In my wife's hometown of Taiyuan, Shanxi, in north central China, there's a large population of Hui, who are a muslim ethnic group. They have a special cuisine and own a lot of businesses, especially restaurants and groceries. The ones my wife and I have met are muslims for identification purposes only. In Taiyuan we know a group of lovely American Christian missionaries whose organization has boomed from around a dozen 12 years ago to about two hundred now. What worries me is that if Christain missionaries can be successful in China's heartland, Muslim missionaries may be just as successful if not more so among the Hui. If islamic missionaries can operate terrorist training camps among the restive Uighurs of Xinjiang without being caught, they may also be able to do much damage to China among the Hui, who live in every major Chinese city. Let us hope the Chinese keep a sharp eye on these muslim missionaries so as not to let the Hui become a danger, and to crack down hard if they begin to be.
"All of this is manageable with the right mindset" - Agrippa
Given that the Chinese are not afflicted with a gut-level revulsion to assasination, and as communications networks send pictures of dead and maimed civilians across the world in seconds, I expect a quiet purge "as needed".
I hope that China is the one country that can successfully resist the da'wa. Being a totalitarian regime, they do not suffer from the ailment of political correctness, nor do they suffer from constitutions that give rights to the criminal element and special interest groups. We, in the west, suffer from both. And that is why islam is making inroads. We do not allow ourselves to deal with islam.
The Chinese have no such limitations. They can round them all up and kill them all, and nobody will really care, in China, or elsewhere.
I have believed for years now that, in the end, constitutional democracy does not work in the modern world. Too many forces out there that take advantage of constitutional democracy to infect the host.
In that sense, I believe that totalitarian governments will survive and prosper and democracies like Europe and the US will eventually succumb to organized islam. Communism is a failed idea, but other forms of totalitarian rule, like fascism, could be the form of government that can both embrace capitalism, while at the same time, having the law and order rigidity to deal with islam. That is the best of both worlds.
Those who think we can keep our liberal democracy, with its constitutional protections, and still successfully destroy islam, are mistaken. We can't have our cake and eat it too. We can't be liberal to each other, without being liberal to the bad people that want to use that very liberty to destroy us. As Naseem pointed out, it is the strategy of islam in the west to use democracy to destroy democracy.
We will have to decide which is more important. Holding on to a failed romantic ideal, or facing the future and taking the necessary steps to preserve our ethnic culture and our religion.
Because, let's face it, if islam eventually triumps, liberal democracy goes out the window anyway.
August22,
I agree with you right above! You are a man of wisdom!
The Chinese are certainly much more political savvy than the American when it deals with the Muslim problem. There is simply no place for America’s self-defeating political system against trouble-making Muslims in China.
In the past, the communist Chinese government dealt with religious-political problems “realistically.” They realized that religion could poison people’s minds. The government didn’t hesitate to mercilessly suppress anyone who challenged the government. We saw this in Tibet against poorly armed Buddhist monks who wanted independence from China. We saw this on Tinamen’s Square against their unarmed college students who wanted democracy. If China’s leaders weren’t ruthless, Chinese people would have been out of control, like what is happening to Iraq without the ruthless Saddam. You are dealing with 1.3 billion of Chinese people – a lot of people!
Today the Chinese government doesn’t use suppression on a massive scale any more. Rather, they give people more freedom and encourage them to get out of poverty and even get rich. When people have something to live for, they tend to think less about overthrowing the government. They think for themselves -- families, jobs, future, and retirement saving/investments like I do in America. If this can’t solve the big poverty problem that the majority of Muslims face on the Western land, the Chinese can always resort to force and suppression.
The American fail to understand that War is won not through strength but through skillful manipulation - a victory of the writing brush and brains over sword and strength.
I won't shed any tears if the Chinese ruthlessly deal with this plague. Communism is terrible but Islam is even worse. No doubt the Chinese will have no problems with their conscience-they will do what is necessary regardless of world opinion.
That quote cited in the video is proof of that.
I am thrilled by this development. The Chinese are not nice guys. Have a blast, jihadists!
Kung fu,
I'll be sure to relate the fact that the Chinese government doesn't use suppression on a massive scale to the millions of Chinese Christians suffering at the hands of their government:

In order to improve their public image, China has recently stopped shooting criminals in sports stadiums and has turned instead to mobile execution vans. I think they’ll be just fine.

PRCalDude,
Re : your post above at November 9, 2006 05:24 PM
Don’t egotistically argue with me over bolts and nuts. Why don’t you read the wise words of August22, and grow up, dude!
“Those who think we can keep our liberal democracy, with its constitutional protections, and still successfully destroy islam, are mistaken. We can't have our cake and eat it too. We can't be liberal to each other, without being liberal to the bad people that want to use that very liberty to destroy us.”
BTW, you wrote, “The Chinese are not nice guys.” It reminds me of the cold war during which America tried to describe Russia as the evil empire as President Reagan said. Some Americans even had the illusion that they could survive alone without Russia. And this very same feeling existed in Russia. The American imperialists, it was said, were on the bad side and had to be eliminated for the possibility of happiness in the world.
The bottom line is that America has an inter-relationship with Russia, whether you like it or not. Today America and Russia are friends, a fact which was so hard to believe 20 years ago. This kind of inter-relationship can happen to America and China in the war on Muslim terrorism in the near future.
You’d better learn to show respect to the Chinese and their powerful kung fu!
Was amused to read in a book put out by 'Peoples'
Republic of China 'that Tibetans are a 'respected, valued Chinese Minority'...Government Officials regularly trot out this sort of crap without blinking-however any dissent-and I mean 'any' is met with the most ruthless response immaginable. For every Jihadi screaming 'Alluha Akbar' whole villages are bombed in reprisal.Suspects rounded up & tortured-often boiled alive.Remember China invented 'Death by a Thousand Cuts.'Muslims are indeed messing with Infidels very different to weak, namby pamby P.C ones from the West.
This won't last long. Why?
China will round up all the leaders and kill them. No trial. No lawyers. No UN.
Islamic Jihad never has lasted long in Chinese and Mongolian lands. Expect another Islamic truce for about 100 years and the less faithful will bow down their Communist overlords.

Oh, glory! A pissin' match between Islam and the Middle Kingdom of the Flowers. How much are the box-seats and can I bring my own beer?
Seriously, China may have thought that its Jihadis would want to hop a freight to Afghanistan and fight the Great Satan. If they have decided to poop where they eat, China will have no choice but to clean up both the mess and its makers.
This may also help China decide that Islam with a bomb is not a good idea which could swing them our way concerning Iran.
The plot thickens...
August22
Very well said, and I totally agree with your opinions.
I abhor communism but of late, I tend to support certain forms of statism that allow economic freedom with lesser political freedom. In this respect, China or Singapore has the better approach in dealing with the spread of Islamism. They should know better because the minority Chinese in even 'moderate' Islamic countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia have been oppressed and suffering dhimmitude for decades. A recent statement by the former Singapore premier that the minority Chinese continues to be 'marginalised for being successful' in these 'moderate' Islamic countries had caused uproar because the Islamists couldnt stomach their truth be publicised.
Constitutional democracy is not good for big nations such as USA or India. Voters are often ignorant and politicians are more concerned with their own aggrandizement than their nations' interests. These democratic giants are weak ideologically and dont have the stamina to sustain in any long drawn conflict. This allows the rapidly breeding Islamists to take advantage of the democratic means to stamp their Islamic Caliphate. They have known that in a democracy, it is a number game.
There were several 'uprisings' in China where Mohammedanism has taken hold. These uprisings usually take a quick and violent end under a cloak of silence, something the US or any other western government would not get away with....
Rumors have it that on some occasion anywhere between 10-and 50.000 were wiped out...
I remember vaguely a book by Peter-Scholl-Latour "Allah is mit den Standhaften" where this was discussed, but this means research going back into the seventies...
But there have been other uprisings since then: As you know, the Mohammedans have to go on jihad every 10 years, at least, so it just keeps coming...!
If China takes on the Islamaniacs it will be interesting to see what the Muslim world will say and do about it. It will probably ask the West to intervene because they always need the West to save them. I just hope the West tells them to drop dead. In any event, a jihad against China is bound to fizzle because those commies will be as vicious as those islamies.
Islam is an Arab Supremacist and tribal religion. Non-Arabs wish to be identified as Muslims, or second class Arabs. Saudi Arabia is the center point. Persian Muslims fall into a lower cast then their Arab betters. Black Africans fall into lower cast then their Arab betters. White Muslims fall into a lower cast then their Arab betters. Asian Muslims fall into a lower cast then their Arab betters. Why to non-Arab Muslims voluntary erase their own history, and choose their lower cast. Non-Arabs have their own ethnic histories, just as worthy as Arabs. In the context of Islam, and by default, Arabs are their betters.
"Don't egotistically argue..."
Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black to me.
Who says I was disrespecting Chinese culture? To be a bit more precise, I meant the Chinese government is not nice. Persecution is a part of government policy, pal.

Islam, by its law, is not able to work within the framework of our constitution as written, it opposes the secular laws and rule of "by the people". We must simply see that this is so, and act to prevent it.
Don't count us out just yet, the right kind of islam-forced focus will give the desired results, for the people.
More details on Islam in China, taken from Mildred Cable's "The Gobi Desert":
"being a Moslem, he will buy nothing from a kaper (infidel)..." (p. 160)
"A few paces behind there walked a pathetic figure whose face and form were completely covered with a thick black veil woven from horsehair. Over the head ws thrown a long black coat with its empty sleeves hanging at the sides. Something moved vaguely where the arms should be, which revealed this shapeless mass to be a woman with her baby n her arms. It was an Uzbek family party, and illustrated the humiliation of women and the degradation imposed on her in that Moslem state." (p. 158)
"A very few years after the death of Mohammed (A.D. 632) the Arabs, carrying the Islamic religion, became prominent factors inthe life of Central Asia. Their creed was a militant one and they set out to exerminate other religions and substitute their own. When Islam reached the old trade-routes its followers moved up and down the great arteries, and at the close of the sixteenth century established their first chiefdom in Kashgar.
"This religion had come, and come to stay. It was not a constructive force, but a disruptive one, which has always been a cause of revolt and bloodshed. Though not opposed to lieracy, Islam in eastern Turkestan has helped the development of neither art, literature nor ethics, but has rather proved destructive of the civilising influences of neighborly intercourse, and has established the deplorable tradition of the periodic Moslem rebellions which take place every thirty years." (pp. 205-206)
At pp. 220ff, in the chapter entitled "The Moslem Rising of 1930," one may find out about Ma Chung-ying, who came to "help in the holy war" and who "planned to found an empire which would bear the proud name of Islamistan and of which he would be the unquestioned ruler...Matters, however, took a very different turn from that which he had expected, and this long and fierce Tungan rebellion was destined to join its predecessors onthe pages of Chinese history as yet another of the revolts that failed." (p. 231)
There is no contradiction in feeling sympathy for the Tibetans and no sympathy at all for Chinese Muslism. The Tibetans represent no threat to anyone, and possess a distinct language and culture. The Chinese Muslims represent, as part of the world-wide umma al-islamiyya, a distinct threat to all non-Muslims, and therefore, whatever sympathy one has for them must remain inchoate. And in contradistinction to the Tibetans, Chinese Muslim culture does not represent anything outside of Islam -- for anything pre-Islamic, or non-Islamic, is simply deemed to be of no worth -- hence, for example, the Pakistani indifference to the civilzationi of Mohenjo-Daro. And were it not for tourist dollars, there are plenty of Egyptian Muslims who are indifferent to the pyramids. The vast Roman ruins that have been despoiled, or ignored, throughout the Muslim Middle East -- but not in Israel's Caesarea, and not in Lebanon either, when the Christians still held great power in the government.
Mildred Cable details the destruction of Sogdian, Tocharian, Mandean, Nestorian ancient texts by Muslims indifferent to everything but Islam. For Believers, Qur'an and hadith are virtually all ye now on earth, and all ye need to know. That is why they keep, automaton-like, coming back to the same phrases, the same passages, the same hadith -- that is their entire mental universe. The rest is just vocational training.
I would like to thank the prompters of this posting, Mr. Henry Insomnia and his wife Jane.

The Chinese have plans for building a direct railroad from Beijing to Islamabad and beyond in partnership with Pakistan that will give them direct access to the oil-rich Persian Gulf! They are already developing the Port of Gwadar supposed to rival Dubai as a free trade port on behalf of Pakistan! This is one Islamist-communist friendship that is long, deep and wide! China has also promised Pakistan to help in developing alternative energy nuclear resources that the US has denied them!
At some point, likely after Islam's nuclearization of America, this Chinese approach will become the world's model for addressing Islam. There will be no alternative despite considerable hope for the contrary persuasion approach offered by non violent caring people.
Jesse Collins
Democracy and capitalism are intertwined. Democracies are dynamic. Government serves the people, not the other way around. A free man will vote for their representative. Having freedom is not only about the property you are free to purchase and sell. It is also about having a free mind. Democracy is the best vehicle for true freedom of conscience. New laws, and amendments to a democratic constitution, can be passed. Anything short of this is the return to the parent-child totalitarian construct found in much of the world. Religion must be excluded from government, for obvious reasons. Religions can peddle superstition. Islam is an old religion with a large following. Some followers may believe Mohammad ascended into clouds over Jerusalem. Fine for them. Enlightened Muslims and non-Muslims know this is not fact, but rather, mythical history. A free man will not accept a totalitarian government. The unelected government will wrap itself in mythical history, and require the citizen to adhere, or else. This is the case today in China. Citizens are free to buy or make goods, but they do not have true mental freedom. There are also limits to property rights. The usage of intellectual property is worldwide, but the protection of an owner’s trademark, patent, or copyright is not enforced.
They'll crush the jihadists in Eastern Turkestan. They'll also continue to make alliances with Iran and Pakistan that will come back to bite them in the ass later. It's only a matter of time. The goal of Islam, not that I need to remind anyone here, is to fight the infidels until everyone submits to Allah. Just wait until Iran gets powerful enough.
China could very well become the next world power. But it so far still depends on the West for manufacturing money. Whatever it becomes, the West partially created it through our businessmen and technology. Many of their intellectual developments are stolen from us, and as SFOD pointed out, there is no protection of intellectual property over there.
August22,
Agree with you. Btw, is contemporary China truly communist,I wonder. As a vintage marxist from Kolkata(Calcutta) on his return from China recently remarked "We are caught in a time warp clinging on to communism. China is very much capitalist". Chinese sometime back made an offer to India that has been tangoeing for long with communists :" Anytime, we are ready to eliminate the *comrades* in your midst should you require our assistance".

Some blogger thinks only America is entitled to spread its influence by splashing money around the world. Any major power is entitled to. Being the world’s third strongest country militarily and one of the world’s fastest growing countries economically, China needs to think for itself and take care of its future needs too after having arisen from the bottom where the Chinese were dominated by European devils a century ago and slaughtered by Japs at WWII. The irony is that America is perceived as an arrogant empire around the world while China is welcome by countries of the third world. The reason lies in the Chinese approach of skillful manipulation. America’s “supercop” foreign policy and insensitivity to foreign culture contribute to its downfall.
Today the American economy is no longer competitive, goes downhill, and runs on its borrowed time. Thanks to the easy credit policy from Alan Greenspan. Soon paying back is a bitch after we have a new president in 2008! Meanwhile China is one of the strongest supporters of the American economy by steadily investing in US treasury bonds which has financed the Iraq War and other governmental spending.
While some blogger complains about their jobs being outsourced to China, she, like many bloggers here, chooses to sit on her ass in front of a computer to obsessively post her opinions all day -- taking a significant amount of time out of her work if she has a job – and contributes nothing to the bottom line of her national economy. An opinion is the cheapest commodity on earth -- and is like an a**hole that everyone has one! Meanwhile, the Chinese are working hard in their factories to produce goods that are necessary to the American economy at a substantially low labor cost. The Chinese achieve their marvelous economic status in an old fashion way; they earn it!
After all, every power is subject to its rise and inevitable fall in history. America is no exception. Now the world is saying good bye to America, and hello to China in the 21st century.
Kung fu,
Seems that you've taken up residence under our bridge here. If opinions are as you say, sounds like you have several. Seems like you've forgotten Maoism and the several million of you or so dead last century at the hands of the glorious government you're now defending. How did you think America became a rich nation? By sitting around twiddling our thumbs? America and China share many similarities in terms of how we became rich nations: we had an industrial revolution because there was cheap land, resources, and manpower here in America. Congratulations. It isn't going to last too long, maybe another 10 years. My father-in-law is one of the American businessmen who had to move his factory to China. He and other businessmen like him are looking elsewhere to places of even cheaper land and labor. Why? China's getting too expensive.
Our economy is going downhill fast? Last time I checked, unemployment here was at 4.5%. We have the highest standard of living in the world. America's definitely got it's share of problems, but so does China.
What is behind this periodic America bashing?
Envy-sheer, naked envy.
"The Chinese and islamists have that in common. The desire to destroy Western civilization".
Americaningermany,
The evils of political correctness and wresting concessions in the name of victimhood, communism(and the reasons behind) are well conveyed here:
"We cannot expect our third-grade politicians to study Aristotle. Aristotle may have had political scoundrels in view when he said: `Democratic education ought to mean, not the education (or more precisely noneducation!) which democrats like, but the education which will preserve democracy`. Until we have realized that these two things do not necessarily go together we cannot think clearly about education.
The caucus-race in `Alice in Wonderland`, where all the competitors won and all got prizes, was a `democratic` race. This is the kind of race, which all the politicians.... want to today.
It will have repaired the inequalities of nature. But it is quite another question whether it will breed a democratic nation which can survive, or even one whose survival is desirable at all.... A nation of dunces can be saved only in a global world of dunces. But the question of desirability is even more interesting.
There is in all men a tendency to resist the existence of what is stronger, subtler or better than themselves.
In uncorrected and brutal small men this hardens into an implacable and disinterested hatred for every kind of excellence. The kind of democratic education which is being advocated by all.... is bad because it endeavours to propitiate evil passions, to appease envy. Two reasons can be advanced against this mad approach or movement.
In the first place, you will not succeed. Envy is insatiable. The more you concede to it the more it will demand. No attitude of humility which you can possibly adopt will propitiate a man with an inferiority complex. In the second place, you are trying to introduce equality where equality is fatal.
Equality can exist precisely only in the field of mathematics. Outside the field of mathematics, equality is a purely social conception. It applies to man as a political and economic animal. It has no place in the world of the mind.
As C S Levis beautifully puts it: `Beauty is not democratic; she reveals herself more to the few than to the many, more to the persistent and disciplined seekers than to the careless.
Virtue is not democratic; she is achieved by those who pursue her more hotly than most men. Truth is not democratic; she demands special talents and special industry in those to whom she gives her favours`.
In my view, political democracy is doomed if it tries to extend its demand for equality into these higher spheres. Ethical, intellectual or aesthetic democracy is death.
A truly democratic education - one which will preserve democracy - must be, in its own field, ruthlessly aristocratic, shamelessly `highbrow`.
In drawing up its curriculum, it should always have chiefly in view the interests of the student who wants to know and who can know.
The stupid student, nearly always, is the student who does not want to know. It must, in a certain sense, subordinate the School to the University. Only thus can it be a nursery of those first class intellects without which neither a democracy nor any other State can thrive or survive - either against external enemies or internal foes.
Our democracy demands that little men should not take big ones too seriously; it will die when it is full of little men who think they are big themselves. These small, short and wicked men sitting tall are collectively singing today the following Ode to Madame `Merit`:
Oh! You damned Madame Merit
How much we hate thee and
How do we hate thee? Let us count the ways.
We hate thee to the depth and breadth and height
Our souls can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of bestial being and democratic disgrace.
We hate thee freely, as men strive for democratic non-rights;
Demonically, secularly, stupidly, sadistically, uproariously,
And above all blasting forward for backward meritoriously.
Moral of the story: All the political parties seem to be unanimously of the view that a Bill should be brought up.... in the mud-spattered and bumptious interest of equality and self-respect of the deprived and dumb dunces of the world"
A scary prophecy I read was that China would forge alliance with islamic world. That makes me wonder if China would honestly eliminate jihadists or (a desirable wish) or....
Americaningermany,
That is cause for ALARM! Both are ruthless. And "intellectual" columnists (like the links I posted) are dwelling only on its economy. Isn't that a blinkered vision? Only silver lining being, by default, they make me pray more fervently and frequently.
Americaningermany,
"They want to destroy us and we are sending them money.
I ask you. For what????"
Precisely.Suicidal.But no alarm bells are ringing. Rest assured, the prophesies state eventually evil would be wiped out. Both communism and the other cult of piss.
And we would not be forced to smoke peace pipe with even a piece of that pissful cult. Five or five million times of bending is not going to thaw and impress our Maker. Let us Credit Him/Her/It (God) with *some* Intelligence.
americaningermany,
Be aware of Indian/Paki instigators here. Their opinions are the cheapest commodities on earth. They have nothing better to do in their countries. See Eisenhund spot one on the other thread 2 days ago and his response :
pagandkapitat,
You certainly are an arrogant little shit aren't you?
For one thing, I didn't say I was tired in the fight against mohammedans. As I'm sure a smartass punk like you has never seen them through rifle sights, I'd suggest you learn a little humility.
Secondly, it's laughable you calling me ignorant when you're too stupid to even read something you're trying to answer. I asked where India had troops fighting jihadis (the implication being other than India, apparently you don't have the IQ to figure that out on your own). You answered by mentioning actions occuring on Indian and Paki territory, you moron.
I'm sure you don't want to address any of the rest, and would just rather sit back with the tried and true "it's all America's fault" bullshit. But that's fine. Whether you want to admit it or not, you're going to need us a helluva lot more than we need you. You've been pretty useless up to now, and if people like you represent the larger population, I don't see that changing.
BTW-The condescension? You're new here, so I'd suggest you keep that to yourself. You've already demonstrated in a number of postings that you lack imagination and only regurgitate anti-American talking points. Typical behavior for a punk who's not half as smart as he thinks he is. By all means, however, keep posting your drivel. Keep reminding us why India has been sitting this one out. Keeping to itself. Whining and making excuses. Fortunately, I can tell the difference between those Indians who see the mohammedans as an international threat and reach out so we can all fight them together, and people like you, smug little pieces of shit who think everyone should go apologizing and begging to India to help you unfuck your own country.
You can't even take care of your own mohammedans and you think we should ask you for help?
Good one. Thanks for the laugh, jackass.

Well, so much for the silly idea that only supporters of the war in Iraq or the state of Israel are targets of jihad.
I think we must be very cautious in considering China a partner in the "war on terror", despite the fact that they are also threatened by the global jihad.
Remember that China is against even *tough sounding* sanctions against Iran's nuclear program, and that China has in fact sold many terrorist-sponsoring nations weaponry.
While China may prove to be a sometime ally, it has its own agenda, which is as likely to be anti-Western (especially anti-American) as it is to stand against radical Islam outside its own borders.
As to Chinese reforms, I am also cautious. While I would much rather live in, say, Shanghai now than during the "Great Leap Forward" of the 1950s or the "Cultural Revolution" of the 1960s, it is important to realize that Chinese citizens have very few actual rights. The Chines government has eased up on entrepreneurship in the past (as in the late 1950s), only to clamp down again in a subsequent wave of oppression.
Chinese citizens are taking financial risk with no guarantees safeguarding their earnings or property. This, really, is the economic definition of facsism (note that I am not using this as an epithet, but as a definition). In fact, seizure of property by the government (eminent domain) is a big problem in China right now, and has led to huge demonstrations in rural area, which are typically ruthlessly broken up by police.
Perhaps China will prove to be a valuable ally against Islam in the future, as the Soviet Union proved to be against Hitler, despite their terrible oppression of their own people. I think it's too early to tell at this point.
Americaningermany,
'A rotten tree cannot produce fine fruit'
Lol, some rotten fruit trying to reenlighten you with a preamble, proves it.
Well, the destruction of the Twin Towers on 9/11 was videotaped, made into SEVERAL copies and avidly bought and watched in China.
Oh yes, they did that to regurgitate the milk of human kindness sloshing inside them, to mourn and express their support for Americans.
sarcasm off//
Oops, faux pas there, I confused the fighter with the master. Sorry.
Americaningermany,
Sure? This gets more intriguing. Can't recall seeing k.f.m before. But I came somewhat recently.
Btw, in the news report (posted in another thread) where they are shown learning Hindi, one such k.f.f. exhorted "you Indians are over fond of English language and overfond of West. Your hindi lang and culture so good...stick to that for........" and cooed :))
Talking of their "manipulative skills" several years ago, there was some crucial discussion taking place in that country which had many potential dissenters. They were all well looked after, banquet all that. Put in a plane together; two of the yesmen excused themselves and did not board. The plane that left carrying the rest "accidentally" crashed.
Moral: The world DOES need a Supercop, who would be audacious enough to NOT apologise or wallow in guilt to make amends.
P.S. People like me wince when we have no choice but to settle for "made in india or made in c". They lack finish and are shoddy. For a long time, I thought I was fortunate enough to at least access nailcutters made in U.S.A. Alas, my pride was busted when I learnt it stood for Ulhasnagar Sindhi Association(U.S.A.)India.
