Lebanon's government was plunged into crisis last night after five cabinet members resigned in what appeared to be an attempt by Hizbollah, the Shia militant group, to cause its collapse.Fouad Siniora, the prime minister, attempted to hold his government together by refusing to accept the resignations.
But Hizbollah piled on pressure by announcing street demonstrations this week to force the government to accede to the group's demands for greater cabinet representation.
Sheikh Naim Kassem, Hizbollah's deputy leader, said that the resignations were the first step in a campaign that would be "varied and effective".
Fears of bloody confrontations were raised as members of the ruling coalition promised counter-demonstrations.
The world should have just let Israel finish the job instead of screaming "not proportionate".

Unfortunately, the rest of the world has a very short view of history and an even shorter memory. This is a totally predictable scenairio. Regrettably Islamic extremism is totally incompatable with Pluralistic society. They simply cannot coexist. Until Pluralistic societies come to this understanding they will continue to misinterpret, underestimate and misunderstand the islamic extremists in our midsst. this includes Hamas, Hezbullah, the al qaeda, islamic jihad, Iran, etc...Hezbullah has no intention of sharing power with secular muslims, let alone christians.
Lebanon wondered why Israel struck at Hezbollah? Looks like now they're seeing why.
If the worthless government of Lebanon does tackle Hezbollah and causes civilian casualties does this mean Israel can take that government to task for killing innocent people?

The remaining Christians in Lebanon had better start worrying. My bet is that if an Islamist group successfully executes a coup it will have a mandate to eliminate the remaining non-Muslims in Lebanon.

Yes, Israel to the Jews, Lebanon to the Christians. It's best that way. The Muslims have the entire middle east, Lebanon and Israel shouldn't even matter to them.
