This kind of inappropriate political intervention into the military decisions of generals in the battle field compromises the capability of American troop to fight in Iraq. It is a cardinal sin of politicians at a war time!

A million Japs were homeless.
We told ourselves we will never do it again. We continue developing more powerful weapons and nuclear bombs though, only for deterrent effect or fighting the conventional war.
Now we face the Muslim enemy led by the King of Terror Bin Laden, according to Nostradamus, who demonstrates unprecedented cruelty against infidels in his quest of the Islamization of the West. As you see, the current Western way of fighting Islamic Jihads doesn’t work, because we let our judgment clouded by what we learned from WW2, and fail to realize that the nature of WW3 has changed. The German developed a completely new “blitzkrieg” military strategy and marched around the Marginot Line. Within weeks, France surrendered. France fought the WW2 using WW1 strategy! You bet! FDR intentionally, inadvertently let Japan attack Pearl Habor before he led America to declare war on Japan. As for negotiation, you think for a win/win situation. It is not the kind of winning by law like a lawyer, or by force like the military, but the kind of winning by following the Golden Rule – “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” If the Golden Rule can’t enlighten you, think about the Law of Cause and Effect – “you reap what you sow.” Reducing your ego and increasing your sensitivity certainly help too.
Many people live through life and fail to realize that they do everything right, but not doing “the right thing.” Unfortunately, it is something that my MBA degree failed to teach me and that I have to learn it in a hard way in real life, and now America is doing it too in dealing with Muslims.

I know what you emotional people are thinking. Reducing your ego to increase your sensitivity doesn’t mean reducing your capacity to fight. Rather, it gives you a cool head to judge the situation and to bear in mind all possibilities. You need to understand that reducing your ego to increase your sensitivity and your capacity to fight are 2 very different things, like apple and orange. Don’t mix them up!
When you fight, you do in 100% or don't do at all. If you don’t do in 100%, it will be a problem like the way American politicians inappropriately intervene the way our troops fight in Iraq.

I like what you wrote. And extreme emotion can be dangerous. Like a soldier, who emotionally responded to his comrade’s death, eagerly fights the enemy in a battle field for revenge and unnecessarily exposes him in the crosshairs of his enemy’s gun. He easily ends up being killed by the enemy, and fails to realize his dream to protect his country and loved ones. We need to avoid this kind of emotion on one extreme and being emotionless robots on the other. Now we both are right on emotion -- a win/win situation!
