A Saudi court has sentenced a gang rape victim to 90 lashes of the whip because she was alone in a car with a man to whom she was not married.The sentence was passed at the end of a trial in which the al- Qateef high criminal court convicted four Saudis convicted of the rape, sentencing them to prison terms and a total of 2,230 lashes.
The four, all married, were sentenced respectively to five years and 1,000 lashes, four years and 800 lashes, four years and 350 lashes, and one year and 80 lashes.
A fifth, married, man who was stated to have filmed the rape on his mobile phone still faces investigation. Two others alleged to have taken part in the rape evaded capture.
Saudi courts take marital status into account in sexual crimes. A male friend of the rape victim was also sentenced to 90 lashes for being alone with her in the car.
The court heard that the victim and her friend were followed by the assailants to their car, kidnapped and taken to a remote farm, where the raping occurred.
the sentence does not violate the human rights formulated by the IOC.

Poor women...raped by the males and again by the courts. There is no justice for women in islam.
The judge is no less of an animal than the gang. But he is following Sharia law which means the law is the real animal.
I would love to know what Germaine Greer and her ilk are planning to do about these injustices. But maybe post feminist crusaders have got what they wanted, and that doesn’t include women not born in the West.
I think it is a travesty that I as a man feel the need to post about disgusting crimes against women in Muslim countries while the likes of Greer have no comment, even though they have the ear of the mass media.
Would I be wrong to guess that feminists feel their work is done and young Iranian girls hanging from cranes is not in the remit? The lack of protests would make it seem that way.

1000 lashes and 5 years sounds like some sort of punishment for one of the rapists here at least. I think stoning or beheading wouuld be acceptable for this crime for all the rapists, perhaps, but islam saves that for the infidel or the islamic apsotates--yes this sounds like true islamic justice(?).
90 lashes for the woman for being alone with a man--that's pretty serious too. On this one though, it seems there is some balance according to the ways of the religion of peace. Hey, they didn't cut off her hand or foot or circumcise her this time. I wonder if the victim was genital-mutilated as a child...do they do that in Arabia too? What countries is that commonly done in this cult(ure)?

stand in the way of her punishment. Ignorance of the law, (or ignorance in gender), is no excuse!
I mean really, she was probably asking for it.

And she got off easy as well.

By my count she is 10 lashes light.
The concept of rape doesn't exist in Islam. The best defence this poor woman can claim is fornication. (How do you like those choices?) Hence 90 lashes. Isn't Islam great for women?

I am inclined to believe that this woman was probably a non-saudi, most likely one of the many naive foreign women who are imported to work as a maid or nurse in this lazy-ass society. If this woman were a saudi, the men would probably have gotten death sentences and she would not have been lashed.
90 lashes? Not enough. I'd wager that Jesus got more just before he was crucified.
