November 27 (Compass Direct News) – A criminal trial against two Turkish Christians accused of “insulting Turkishness” and inciting hatred against Islam grabbed national media coverage as religious tensions mounted before the visit of Pope Benedict XVI tomorrow.A cluster of TV cameras, microphones and clamoring Turkish journalists waited for more than an hour outside the Silivri Courthouse in northwestern Turkey for Hakan Tastan, 37, and Turan Topal, 46, to emerge from their opening hearing on Thursday (November 23) before the Silivri Criminal Court.
Tastan promptly stepped up to the mikes, stating, “We are being accused because we are Christians and because we have done missionary work.”
Formally the two Christians are charged with violating Article 301 of the Turkish penal code, under which scores of Turkish intellectuals and writers have been prosecuted in the past 18 months for allegedly denigrating “Turkish identity.”
The former Muslims are also accused under separate statutes of reviling Islam (Article 216), as well as secretly compiling files on private citizens for a Bible correspondence course without the individuals’ knowledge or permission (Article 135).
“We don’t use force to tell anyone about Christianity,” Tastan said. “But we are Christians, and if the Lord permits, we will continue to proclaim this.”
Describing himself and Topal as “citizens of the Republic of Turkey who love its democratic, secular system,” Tastan stressed they had nothing to hide in defending themselves in court. “We are not ashamed to be Turks. We are not ashamed to be Christians.”
Tensions outside the courtroom were heightened by the unexpected appearance of ultranationalist Kemal Kerincsiz, a fiery attorney who intervened in the Christians’ case to lead a team of four other prosecution lawyers at the hearing. Kerincsiz has gained national notoriety by filing dozens of Article 301 cases against prominent intellectuals for defaming “Turkishness.”
Scuffles Break Out
Moments after Tastan and Topal walked away with their lawyer, Kerincsiz launched an impromptu press conference from the courtroom steps.
“Christian missionaries working almost like terrorist groups are able to enter into high schools and among primary school students,” Kerincsiz told reporters. “They deceive our children with beautiful young girls.”
At this, one Turkish Christian in the crowd shouted, “He’s lying!” Several nationalist demonstrators reacted violently, starting to shove the converts’ supporters and hitting one. But police promptly intervened to detain and remove the attacker, releasing him a few minutes later.

Although Turkey has made some strides in modernization, largely due to european influences, it still is behind. Without the European influences, Turkey would be just another islam dunghole.

Not at the moment, no, but there is a whole world of information out there on these scum. One of the most dangerous and deluded policies to follow is that of 'my enemy's enemy is my friend', which quite a few seem to be espousing here lately with regard to the BNP (although, it seems that few of those who do are actually from the UK). In my opinion, the BNP if anything will make it harder to advance the cause of the defence from the global jihad in the mainstream, where it needs to be. It will allow the popular media to dismiss the legitimate criticisms raised by this site and by many others as being 'just like the BNP', or 'similar in tone to the BNP'.

It took her 10 years to get her PhD -- she completed her dissertation on a line from the Koran that reads: "A believing slave is better than a non-believing free man." yeah, All right! Such scholarship!!
The Dhimmi article also noted that she's taken some flak from fellow followers of said Death Cult, since Mr. Mo apparently said something along the lines of: "Whenever Allah wants the destruction of a people, he makes a woman their leader." Ah, what insight! And, soooo significant!
Mattson claims that her "focus" as head of the Society will be to dispel the "current negative image of Islam." She's "concerned" about the "abuse" of the terrorist label. I can only agree and sympathsize with the sheer horror of hearing the label "Terrorist" applied to those fine and noble practitioners of "peace" as they saw off the heads of infidels, is just too much to bear!! (Cnn just prior to the interview with said Dhimmi Mattson, showed a portion of a video-tape of a Shiite having his head cut off by a group of Sunnis. Actually I have never read anything put out by the BNP. I know that skin head groups who have rioted and attacked various minorities in Britain tended to associate themselves with the BNP. If they were actually part and parcel of the BNP I do not know.

I've seen the BNP at close quarters in London's East End: educational attainment, mental health and superb social skills are not qualities that they immediately bring to mind - even the majority of policemen can't stand them, and they're a pretty conservative lot. Just lately they've found as much mileage in denouncing Pole and Latvian immigrants as in attacking Muslims. Simple common sense should tell you to keep your distance from them. If ordiary people ever vote for BNP candidates it is usually a sign that severe social dislocation is occurring in a particular locality.
