"Egypt says arrested foreigners had terror links," from AFP:
CAIRO (AFP) - A group of foreigners arrested in Egypt included French, US, Belgian, Syrian and Tunisian nationals with links to terror groups who were recruiting Islamists for "jihad" in Iraq, the authorities have said.
"The security services have dismantled an organisation whose members follow jihadist ideas and includes Arab and foreign elements living in Egypt under the pretence of studying Islam and Arabic," an interior ministry statement said Monday.
"These individuals were found in possession of papers and documents pertaining to their organisation that confirm links to terror organisations outside" the country, it added.
The young Islamic fundamentalists are believed to have been arrested almost two weeks ago in Cairo's Medinat Nasr neighbourhood.
They include nine French, two Belgian and an American national as well as Egyptians, Tunisians and Syrians, the ministry said.
"The investigation revealed that these people were seeking to recruit more elements, convert them to their destructive doctrine, incite them to jihad (holy war) and encourage them to travel to Iraq via third countries to carry out operations," the statement said.
French diplomatic sources had confirmed the detention of 11 French Islamists last month in Cairo and Alexandria.
The 11, most of them from the Paris region, were the largest group of French Islamists to have been detained in Egypt. Four other French nationals were expelled in July 2005.
Despite the accusations in the interior ministry statement, other security sources had said nine of the French Islamists were due to be flown back to France this week and were deemed "not to be a threat to national security".

Security sources speaking on condition of anonymity also confirmed that two Belgian nationals of Moroccan origin had been nabbed during the raid.

Guess what folks? Sometimes a bigot IS a bigot. They do exist. The preponderance of gray does not negate the existence of black and white (pun intended) Unfortunately people have used the term so many times that it has lost its meaning, or it's been a "cry wolf" situation. However, it does exist and it's part of human nature. My reasoned response has been met with tantrum like explosions from this person - completely irrational replete with ridiculous assumptions and accusations.
Now to call me a "flaming liberal" because I don't like lumping ALL groups of people in a condemned category is absurd. And to cast aspersions on my ideological position, making false allegations that I want to "destroy America", is also ridiculous and childish.
You know, I have tried to increase people's awareness of our fight against Islam whenever I find someone who might be open to it. Many people I know don't pay attention because they rely too much on the mainstream media so they are asleep, so to speak. Some of these people ARE liberals who are starting to open their eyes. To give them a nudge, I direct them to Robert's books and to this site. And do you know what happens? They turn away. They dismiss this site as full of hateful, racist people and want nothing more to do with the cause. And that's because they read posts like AIG's and read bigotry between the lines, whether it was AIG's intent or not. They are turned off because it's TOO RADICAL.
This war is on several fronts. The obvious one is the radical Muslims who want to impose Sharia law and destroy the West. The other front is the Left. They will obstruct any and all efforts to stop the encroachment of Islam because they are blind and ignorant. However, if and when they might want to open their eyes and consider what's going on, they are turned off by the vehemence, the rabid irrationality and the perceived bigotry by some posters here. That's a loss to us.
Reasonable discourse, and moderation in rhetoric will draw more converts to the cause than maniacal, illogical and emotional fervor. It's almost like the flip side of radical Islam, to hear some of the talk going on here. It serves no good purpose.

Well, I don't think she is "bigoted". it's just that the ship has veered so far to the Left that anything but a BIG PUSH the other way can't possibly have any effect. Atheling, AIG and I are referring to third world immigrants, not those from regular Western countries like Germany or Great Britain. I've lived in South Florida for 11 years and before I embraced foreign countries and cultures. After living among third world Hispanics all these years, I really despise them and sick of hearing them say "you speaky spani". They are the most rude, arrogant people, lazy, and unappreciative. Some of them have lived here for 30 years and still don't speak English. On Christmas Eve, they take their families and line up at the pig slaughterhouse for a family event. They also practice voodoo and Santeria, leaving dead animals all over the streets of Miami. They are truly disgusting filth. However I love Europeans and they are more than welcome to live in my country.

I called Naseem a dudette based on her(?) past posts, which indicated that this poster was a female. Personally, I think this poster shows up just to pull people's legs-the dreadful grammar ("the Amerike"???)used to cover up some pretty rational sounding points seems like a giveaway to me. I often think it's Hugh being in a playful mood in playing Illah's advocate but it probably is just someone else trying to stir up a little crap. And often, it works very well.

I was once a social worker who was in charge of a program which helped low income AMERICAN CITIZENS with their heating bills in the winter. It was a federal program.
Unfortunately, the agency I worked for had many applicants who were illegal immigrants without social security numbers, without which they were not qualified to receive benefits. You know what my boss told me to do? Falsify the social security numbers for them. She told me to make them up.
I refused. And guess what happened? I got fired!

My calling you racist is also based on your saying that you "shudder" to think that the percentage of white people in America is dwindling. Yes, this raised my hackles because my father, WHO IS WHITE, married my mother, who is NOT. This made me question if you dislike the idea of interracial marriage. That's what one of your original comments suggest. Now in the above you claim that you do not and bring up the issue of your children. Fine. If you had clarified the question before in the other thread instead of hurling false accusations at me and DISTORTING my position which only escalated this problem.

This war has several fronts. The obvious one is the one against Islamofascism. The other front is the Left who will obstruct ALL OF OUR EFFORTS to curb suicidal immigration policies. WE MUST CONVINCE THE LEFT OF THE DANGERS WHICH WE FACE. And in convincing them we must assure them that we do not do this out of hatred for any particular race but because only a certain group (i.e. MUSLIMS) threaten the existence of our civilization. Last week I made a small presentation of the problems of Islamofascism to moderates in our local chapter of the Republican Party. I had to make it very clear that I do not suggest that ALL MUSLIMS are evil and that there are American citizens who are Muslims who are not interested in jihad and live normal lives in this country. I HAS TO SAY THIS IN ORDER TO GAIN CREDIBILITY WITH THEM IN MY PRESENTATION. If I had ranted and made sweeping generalizations about them I would have lost my audience. In gaining their attention with logical, rational statements I was able to make leeway in opening them to the problems we face. And those folks were Republicans! Can you imagine what we will have to surmount when we approach the Democrats? When they read comments like yours which fail to make the necessary discrimination in its condemnation of certain groups they will dismiss the entire cause.
Believe me, it's happened. I have sent moderates who are starting to become uneasy about Islam and the tactics of Muslims in this country to Robert's books and this site and they recoil when they read the vicious, unthinking, blind comments by some people here. IT DOES NOT HELP US. They walk away with their belief that conservatives are racist and bigots firmly supported.

But we are all here out of concern for our country and I feel we should stay somewhat focused. I want to know more about this "American Citizen" is, did he have any contacts here in the northeast we should be worried about? yaknowhatImean?
