NEW YORK — Mohammed Yusef Mullawala wanted a license to transport hazardous materials and to learn how to drive commercial tractor trailers. There was nothing unusual about that, until he told his teacher that he only wanted to learn how to drive forward, and he wanted to learn fast.That was enough to raise a red flag with Darleen Crawford, president of the Nationwide Tractor Trailer Driving School in Smithfield, R.I., where Mullawala took driving classes.
Federal and state authorities are investigating why Mullawala was seeking a commercial trucking license after his behavior raised flags at the Rhode Island driving school. Crawford said he was also insistent on taking the test necessary to earn a license to transport hazardous materials.
Mullawala, a 28-year-old citizen of India who is of Pakistani descent, is now in federal custody in Massachusetts on immigration violation charges....
Crawford started documenting suspicious activity: Mullawala lived in New York City but traveled to Rhode Island for the driving classes; he missed his first day of classes; and he was very insistent on getting his hazardous material transport license.
But the fact that he only seemed interested in driving forward was the most concerning.
"We tell them from Day One, 'you will be backing up,' 'you'll be backing up every single day,'" Crawford said, adding that it normally takes two to three weeks of practice backing up before drivers get road permits and learn how to drive forward, among other things.
The situation was reminiscent of when some of the Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers told their flight-school instructor they were only interested in how to fly planes at certain altitudes, not so much how to land or take off.
"He was just really pushing to get out of here," Crawford said. "I've been doing this for 30 years so you just sort of know when something doesn't feel right."...
Investigators learned that when Mullawala obtained his driver's license from the Rhode Island Registry of Motor Vehicles, he gave a false statement indicating he was a Rhode Island resident. ICE then determined he was a citizen of India and in the United States on an expired temporary student visa.
On Tuesday, Mullawala went to state police headquarters thinking he was responding to another matter. He was then apprehended and turned over to ICE....

And if you're hauling hazz-mat i.e. gasoline or petroleum products their is a lot involved and liquid loads even in a baffled tanker are alive load and quite easy to turn it on the side of the tanker, and with a un-baffled tanker i.e. a tanker that is used for food products in a sudden stop the load sloshing around can be very tricky to handle. Hey: You make a big deal about one guy and a Hazmet license. In California there is a trucking firm called Muslim Brothers Trucking. Apparently they have a less than savory record. In fact when there was a big recall of bagged salad products, one of their drivers took a whole semi truck load of the supposed contaiminated product and dumped it in a river. They caught him somehow, and there was a spotlight put on their firm. And yes their drivers are all Mohameds, youssefs, akbars etc. Funny that we didnt hear much more about any investigations of the firm after that.

My hat is off to you - good post. I was talking to a driver and he told me there are getting to be a lot of them on the road and they the worst of the lot. What is even scarier is the fact that the FMCSR does not require a CDL holder to take the CDL test in english. They don't even require that a Hazmat endorsed driver speak english, or be a citizen. This is all due to NAFTA and trucking companies that are hungry for hands.
What is even more scary is the fact that there are no chicken-coops or ports of entry in the greater NYC area, and plenty of class 8 dealerships. If there is a "smart" islamist out there who can make it through truck driver training school by keeping his mouth shut, I shudder to think what could happen. If you are a Muslim, study your religion. Maybe, just maybe you will realize that you are being duped. That what I said, duped. We have a lot in common, muslim and Americans. Mohammad was a politician and a good one. The part about being a prophet was a tool and he was good at what he did. In fact, can we just say that Mohammad was the best politician ever, regardless of the prophet part? Freedom means different things to different people. If you are a Muslim and your idea of freedom is American style freedom, I have a news flash for you, your religion frowns on that sort of thinking yet a lot of you don't know it! Thats right, you do not know your religion any more than most Christians and Jews know theirs. One thing many of you will do, not all, at least I hope not all, when the time comes and you are asked, you will side with Islam against America. If you believe that you will side with America, why not stand up now when you can make a difference. I know you are afraid to speak out against Islam, a few have been brave enough to do it and have paid dearly. The fact is that no significant number of Muslims are speaking out against the jihadists. If I'm wrong, where are they speaking, I want to know, I need to feel better about the possibilities.
What the people of Islam in this country are doing, for a fact, is staging demonstrations to prevent free speech. Can't find the energy to speak against radical jihad insanity but sure as the world can put on the 'brown shirts' and spew hate against anyone who would reveal anything that might interfere with Islamic tyranny.

Oh yes I cried when I read it. "In the name of Allah they tied the hands of the baby to the hands of the parents and pulled the parents apart, ripping the child into pieces." That goes so far beyond terror I just don't know what to say. If you are a Muslim and do not speak out against someone doing this in the name of your Allah, you are just as bad as the people (loosely used term) who did the crime. You do not know anything about right and wrong, you are an animal, a dog with only two legs.
For a time in my life I was confused about 'right and wrong' but that particular disease didn't last long but I was confused. I had bought the notion that when something happens, it has the distinction of being right for one person while being wrong for another and there for, wrong was an imperative for right to exist. People, that is just not true. Right is right and wrong is wrong, one is not necessary to define the other. You must understand that to be a functioning human being, otherwise you are very subject to being or becoming one of the moral equivalent, Politically Correct types or a Muslim.
The following may seem off the topic of trucks and bombs but I was really responding to the term 'stupid' and I will tie that back in.
Some of you may wonder why the left wing is so hesitant to take a hard stance against Islam. This might help you understand. In simple terms they think alike in regards to a fundamental principle of humanity. The lack of a firm belief that wrong is just wrong and that someone is somehow justified in profiting from an act of wrong doing. I have been told by a liberal that when someone is murdered for the benefit of others, it is good for the one who benefited and just bad for the one who died and it may have been justified. The logic is easy enough to put together and that example is of course meant to win everyone over to the possibility that there is not good without some bad. "You have to break some eggs to make an omelet."
Islam instructs muslims to profit from the destruction of their enemies and Islam provides a continuous supply of enemies to profit from and liberalism does the same damn thing. Tax the rich and give the money to people who aren't as smart or fortunate, really better translated as lucky. Liberals have it in their 'religion of liberalism' that it is their right, no, their obligation, to do what ever they choose for the good of "humanity". Islam mandates that all things are justified that promote or benefit Islam. All things are bad that do not promote Islam. Do you see the similarity. These people understand each other but there is a problem for non muslim liberals. Islam wants their property as well as the property of the conservative, and the liberals don't seem to care or understand the possibility. Their narcissism makes them believe that they are somehow exempt from the Islamic plan...Or maybe when it really gets right down to it, the libs will just detonate a big bomb of their own and thus save themselves from the hoards. One thing is for sure, libs are firmly at ease with the notion of taking property by force and find it uncomfortable to point fingers at someone else for doing the same thing in the name of their religion.
This is about your right to live, own property and not be molested. Why we give liberals and Islamics a voice is hard to understand. They are both parasitic in nature but have managed to survive and thrive no matter how many failures they have to endure. That my fiends makes them smart and stupid and us, well, we are just stupid.

I find that if I listen to someone and take him at his word and observe him carefully, he will reveal himself: most people can't help it. But I have to be alert and not immediately discount what I've just heard. (For example, "Oh, he couldn't have meant that.") Then I have to be prepared to accept that I've just learned something unpleasant and do something that might not be easy to do. (For example, call the police and inform on someone, or alert a flight attendant.)
We're raised not to be tattletales, not to be nosey Parkers and to give people the benefit of the doubt. It can be easier to follow those ways and not "make waves". However, in this day and age, it can also be extremely costly.
How many people are alert to the danger? How many still watch for people with suspicious packages on subway trains? I do, but lots of people might poo-poo me and say I'm being paranoid. We see what happened recently with the passengers and crew who encountered the flying imams.
I hope I don't sound like I'm lecturing; that's not my intent. I'm really just trying to consolidate what I've been learning here.

Tariq worked with another reporter named Javed Sheikh who later joined a terrorist organisation. Tariq also later joined LeT but was arrested on November 4, 2005.
