Fitzgerald: A tribute to King Abdullah

Jordan’s King Abdullah said some time ago that "Islam honors every human being, without distinction of color, race, or religion."

So that whole business of the jizyah, the kharaj, the distinctive garb, the ban on marrying Muslim women, the ban on riding horses, the inability to have one's testimony against Muslims be considered valid, and a hundred other things -- all of it is based on some hideous misunderstanding of Islam?

Perhaps it is King Abdullah himself who should be asked to take the lead, then, in Showing the True Face of Islam.

Here's how. In 2005, King Abdullah received an honorary doctorate from Georgetown. So let The True Face be shown there. Every faculty member, every administrator, every student at Georgetown should read The Decline of Eastern Christianity Under Islam by Bat Ye'or, and then possibly Islam and Dhimmitude. Then they should all read an online essay or two by Habib Malik, by Ibn Warraq, by Ali Sina.

Then, in solemn conclave assembled, let the Worthies of Georgetown write a collective letter. Perhaps leave the precise wording up to Professor James V. Schall. Circulate the letter, so that all those who have read The Decline of Eastern Christianity and the other recommended reading, or even read other books by the most acute students of Islam and dhimmitude before Bat Ye’or (Antoine Fattal, or Fagnan, Huart, Dufourcq, Henri Lammens, St. Clair Tisdall, Arthur Jeffery, Joseph Schacht), may have a chance to sign it.

One suspects that almost everyone will sign it, except possibly John Esposito, no doubt Host-for-the-Day at islamonline, or perhaps accepting another large "prize" from some Saudi foundation. John Voll and Yvonne Haddad may also be curiously unavailable to add their signatures.

And what should that Letter from Georgetown say to the recipient of its honors? It should ask King Abdullah if he could kindly explain just what he meant by his statement that "Islam honors every human being, without distinction of color, race, or religion" in the light of the treatment of Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, Hindus, and Buddhists were given everywhere that they were subject to Muslim rule, beginning some 1300 years ago. And could he also explain the current position of Christians in the Muslim-ruled lands of Sudan, Egypt, northern Nigeria, Pakistan, Indonesia, not to mention the position of those who seek to exercise their own freedom of conscience and embrace Christianity -- presumably a matter of some interest and concern at the Jesuit-run, and Catholic-funded, Georgetown University?

Of course, Abdullah’s historical amnesia does not mean he should be removed. No one is suggesting that. So far the Bush Administration has not had the bright idea of extending Democracy (Which Is On the March) to Jordan. And that is good. Not because Jordan is an "ally" or Abdullah already wonderful. It isn't; he isn't. But his regime is better for Infidels than what would follow. And as we are buying time to get the Infidel house in order, and to engage in mass pedagogy about Islam, it is better to have local despots monitoring in their own countries, using their own methods of interrogation that are quite different from ours, and for their own purposes, because their power and wealth and positions are threatened, dealing more ruthlessly than Infidels, so far, have permitted themselves. Iraq has proved to be the Most Expensive Learning Curve in History. One hopes its lessons stick.

Nonetheless, with this letter Abdullah may have a little difficulty. He isn't a patch on his winsome father, the "plucky little king" who won the admiration of so many, including Anthony Lewis and Prince Charles; on the other hand, this king does not have the expensive tastes of his father, whose season-tickets to various brothels (with girls who made house, or rather hotel, calls) -- were paid for by the expansive CIA -- which is to say, paid for by me and by you, my fellow taxpayers. At Deerfield, Abdullah was on the wrestling team. Perhaps some Infidel opponent from Andover or Exeter got him a headlock that lasted too long, or threw that direct descendant of Muhammad on the mat a little too hard. Thinking may not be his strong suit.

But he should be asked to give it a try.

It will be a cold day in hell before Bat Ye'or's books will be required reading at Georgetown University. Georgetown, after all, is the home of the Center for Explaining Islam to Non-Muslims (officially known as The Prince Alwaleed Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding). Also, read how Bat Ye'or's talk at Georgetown was disrupted and ultimately disavowed by the organizers themselves:
http://www.dhimmitude.org/d_today_georgetown.php

Georgetown, like the Jesuit order, has been taken over by Liberation theologians and inveterate buggerers. It is Catholic in name only. I was at a conference of Jesuit university student governments once, where the keynote speaker gave a rousing speech about reclaiming the Catholic identity at Jesuit colleges. As I was leaving, I found myself behind the Georgetown contingent. Their president, a secular, liberal Jew, found himself extremely discomfited by this emphasis on Catholicity. He demurred vociferously, to the assent of his companions.

"Islam honors every human being, without distinction of color, race, or religion."

Tell that to the blacks in Sudan, motherf*cker.

Abdullah is a CIA puppet. The primary purpose of Jordan's army is defending the puppet regime from their "Palestinians", who constitute 70% of the population of this illegal and illegitimate state. The Arab world hasn't forgotten Black September in 1970, and Israel would do well to adopt this strategy to deal with Muslim Arabs, that is, if it wishes to survive (as opposed to exercising Samson's Option when it's already too late---and unleashing a nuclear armaggedon upon the Arab world in retaliation to a devastating WMD attack).

"Islam honors every human being, without distinction of color, race, or religion."

The Hell it does. I guess it could be interpreted that way if you are going to ignore about 99% of the Koran and Hadith, and forget for a moment that the infidel-friendly suras were later abrogated by the violent Medina ones. That's right, lets just ignore the history and evidence, and lets pepetruate that ignorace for a few more generations or even centuries, let's allow the obvious abuses of human rights continue in the name of religion, all the time when human rights camaigners will fight non-existent phantom problems in Infidel lands. All to many people will fight a problem which does not exist, whilst cowering down as soon as any actual threat exists to our way of life. What hypocrisy.

Saudi Arabia plays both sides of the game bay officially "supporting" the west and unofficially funding Al Qaeda and their many franchises, while waging bogus wars on terror in the kingdom. We should learn to get by on the oil we have from Non Muslim countries now. We may suffer hardships in the short to medium future but at least we will have a future, not like the Byzantines. You cannot have meaningful dialogue with Islam, they want to dominate or destroy, don't give them the chance to do either and don't listen to our "leaders" who think we can deal with them, you cannot deal with the buggers, no way.

East is East, West is West never the twain shall meet. We do not want any more Londonistan, Washintonistan or Eurabia.

What bothers me about King Abdullah is that he knows the Western mind so well so completely and yet can make statements like, "Islam honors every human being, without distinction of color, race, or religion."

From his Western mother, Antoinette "Toni" Gardiner, to his education in the UK and the US, and to his military training in the British military academy at Sandhurst. He knows the West so well that it seems a statement like that above was made specifically to tell Westerners what they want to hear. In other words, it was disingenuous and he knows it.

Actually, Abdullah of Jordan is probably the best "Muslim" ruler around. Christians in Jordan fare extremely well under him. Maybe it's because, from a Quranic perspective, he's a "bad Muslim" and therefore a fairly decent human being.

In fact, when speaking to Christian Jordanians or attending Christian liturgies in one of Jordan's many churches, he often tells them that he is "half-Christian" himself. His mother is an English Christian who unlike Queen Noor didn't convert. Perhaps his statement that "Islam honors every human being, without distinction of color, race, or religion." is how he wishes it should be.

Remember, the terror attack on the hotel in Amman last year was because they thought King Abdullah would be attending the wedding. He was clearly the target. Furthermore, he has maintained a real peace with Israel despite the fact that the majority of his Parliament (and population) are Islamists. This shows that the last thing Muslim countries need is democracy.

In hindsight, the world would probably be a much better place if the Brits had made his great-grandfather Caliph when the Ottomans were overthrown. Instead they listened to the Saudis (a mistake the West still makes). No Muslim leader is going to be ideal but compared to the alternatives, Abdullah is about the best we can hope for.

all of the family fiefdoms, tyrannies, theocracies, dictatorships, military juntas and the like need to go. all of them.

We need to get busy with the I-slum clearing project we started in Afghanistan.

" Jordan’s King Abdullah said some time ago that "Islam honors every human being, without distinction of color, race, or religion."

really?

I'll just make a couple of changes...

" Jordan’s King Abdullah said some time ago that "Islam ENSLAVES every human being, without distinction of color, race "

That's much better and more accurate. i'll give them the no Racism bit. Islam is an Equal opportunity enslaver.

Abdullah became king suddenly, replacing his uncle, Hassein, as crown prince barely a week before his father's death. (I don't spell arabic names well. forgive me and go on, please.)

Now, this uncle was suddenly unemployed. What has he done with his time? He is a happy UN one worlder person. His specialty is religion.
He runs organizations and speaks at happy love everybody meetings. I read one of his speeches. He tells nice jokes. His most well known organization is World Council of Religions for Peace.

This is the Hashimite family. The family who has historically been in charge of Mecca. I can just feel the ooze of love for the Saudi family. I'm sure they are sweet people. All they want to do is rule the world.

King Abdullah could technically be correct as long as you consider:

Muslims honor the Hindus, Christians, and Buddhists, when they are beheaded as a sacrifice to Allah...in the same way Muslims honor their multiple wives by beating them only when they need it, and they honor their families by murdering their sister if she is raped and cannot provide 4 male witnesses.

In Islamania :

" Honor" , "Respect" , "Tolerance" , " Peace " , " Love " , are all achieved through MURDER!

In Allahs name of course " Peace be on him "

What a load of Backwards Crap. we need to come up with new definitions for those words cause Islam and the murdering Hordes who Practice this Satanic Cult have soiled them

I can't believe you people argue over this. No document written over a thousand years ago can stand up to todays morals. Not even the Bible.

There are parts of the Bible where you are allowed to kill someone on the spot for preaching another religion.

Religion evolves. Stop taking everything so literally.

Please tell me , you are joking?

WHO is taking this literally? .......

wait for it....

ISALM!?!?!? , MUSLIMS?!?!? TERRORISTS?!?!

There ya go!

carry on.

Thank You. Your sentiment just illustrated my point exactly.

By arguing a literal interpretation of these 1000+ yr. old documents you locked yourself into the mindset and discussion with religious extremists.

Please step outside that box and join sanity.

I think what you are missing here FatBoy, is that Extremists use their book as the literal word and the only way to live, and in case you haven't noticed ....That's how they want us to live as well. How do you deal with that mindset if at First you do not understand it, and second you address it , then Third when all else fails you eliminate it. But you cannot skip the first two steps or you are just a hateful Ignorant SOB. " Know your Enemy "

Know his Mindset.

Knowledge is Power my friend.

I actually agree with you. Assuming you are talking about extremists.

Too many people are using the views of said extremists to slam Islam as a religion. Its like slamming Christianity b/c Hitler was a devout Christian. Nonsense.

well i am talking About Extremists overall ,But having read and seen how Muslims and notably Extremists take the Qu'ran and Hadith's so Damn literally ( we see examples everyday), i can't say i have a favorable view of Islam. in fact it makes me sick. that does not mean that there are not decent , peace loving ( completely misguided )people Living under Islam , but one does have to wonder how Muhammad, given his Pedophilia and murdering and all his wonderful Ideas about Women and everything else can be held up as an example for anything good or decent for the world. In my opinion it's the message more than the messenger. if Jesus, Buddha, or any other Prophet for that matter condoned what Muhammad did they would not be getting off any easier. Islam is a very Flawed Ideology. Without Islam we would not have the Concept of Jihad, Dhimmitude, and Martyrdome by Suicide Bombing. those are very real and present Problems with Islams ideology.

Hugh,

I think the study in the very infidel Paratroopers Academy in Riazan, Russia had much more chances of upsetting the Jordanian royal. Combat SAMBO goes well past headlocks after all.

It is amusing how everyone is avoiding any reference to the Soviet connection of Abdullah. I guess nobody knows what to make of it.

Fatboy seems to be unaware that the Koran, for Muslims, is the the eternal and immutable word of god. Basic ideas about what it actually all meant were finalised nearly a thousand years ago: anybody seeking to alter the basic conclusions that were arrived at then is an apostate and should be killed.Ridiculous as it may seem, almost every trivial and not so trivial action of a seventh century self appointed prophet cum warlord cum brutal autocrat is looked upon by Muslims as a moral example to be followed as closely as possible to this day.

What wonderful words from King Abdallah..............now if he keeps repeating them perhaps he can convince all those other Muslims...............he could make a start by asking them not to plant car bombs in Baghdad so Amman was no quite so crowded with Iraqis and his own country would not need to refuse entry to young Iraqi men.................

b/c Hitler was a devout Christian.

Sadly for us all, he was not.

He was however a teetotaller and vegetarian. whether that accounts for his behaviour I cannot say, but the methamphetamines [Pervithin] he was using probably caused his odd behaviour...........then again crystal meth is quite fashionable nowadays

Gerald Ford: You can have any color automobile you like - so long as it is black.

King Abdullah: You can be any race, color or religion you like - so long as your Muslim.

Stefcho, That quote was from Henry Ford not Gerald Ford.

BTW, King Abdullah's half sister Haya Hussein is married to Sheik Mohammad Al Maktoum, the head cheese of UAE, and the owner of the company that bid to take control of several ports here in the US. Haya is Sheik Mo's second wife, the first of whom bore him 16 children...must have wore the first wife out and then got a new and prettier one to hand on his arm at important races. Sheik Mo was recently indicted in Florida in a class action suit on behalf of families of young boys who were used as slaves in the ever so poplular sport of camel racing. Sheik Mo owns more private property in the state of Kentucky than any American, and usually spends the most money on buying race horses at those fancy auctions.

Yeah, lots of dignity to all other peoples and religion. If Abdullah really practiced what he preached he would have never consented to this marriage. Abdullah is a mouthpiece and a fence straddler...but for now he keeps Jordan relatively stable so everyone just leaves him alone.

All is not well in Jordan -it is snowing in Petra !

never_submit,

I think Abdullah's older half-sister Haya married Sheik Mohammad before Abdullah became king. I doubt he had any say in the matter.

never_submit,

Sorry, I had a brain-burp. What I meant to say is that Haya (born in 1974) has been of age since before Abdullah became king so I doubt he had any say in the matter. She only mrried Sheik Mohammed last year. The Hashemite monarchy is not like European royalty where the monarch's consent is required for the marriages of half-siblings.

By the way, Sheik Mohammed is worth $14 billion so I think he can afford both wives.

By the way, Abdullah definitely has taste in women. Queen Rania, a thoroughly modern woman who refuses ever to wear hijab, is considered one of the most beautiful queens in history.

Got to give credit where credit is due!

"There are parts of the Bible where you are allowed to kill someone on the spot for preaching another religion."
-- from a posting above

Where exactly in the Bible, in Old or New Testaments, is that to be found?

I'll wait right here for my answer.

muslims use the same English words, like honor, but give them a totally different meaning.
Islam warps the brain.

lets just say they dont honor us nearly enough
