TEHRAN, Dec 15 (Reuters) - Iran is not a threat to Middle East stability but it is a threat to the United States and its European ally Britain, a hardline cleric said on Friday.The mid-ranking cleric's remarks came in reaction to British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who on Tuesday called Iran a "major threat" to the region's stability.
"Regarding Blair's devilish remarks, I am telling him that if he means Iran is a threat to Britain, yes we are," Ahmad Khatami told Friday prayers worshippers in Tehran University.
"If he means we are a threat to America's arrogance, yes we are and we are proud of it."
Khatami, who is not related to the reformist former President Mohammad Khatami and does not hold any positions directly related to policy-making, said the United States, Britain and Israel caused instability in the Middle East....
"They (the international community) will face consequences for not stopping this wild and brainless animal," he added, referring to the Israeli premier.
I don't think Ehud Olmert is the wild and brainless animal anyone needs to be concerned about.

The vast majority of people in Iran believe in Islam. This being so, they lean to Dar al Islam which, thankfully, the West has yet to devolve to.
At a minimum, Israel needs to decapitate the mullahcracy -- ahmadinejad and the mullah dictators. If that stirs the kurds, azeris, or southern arabs into action, fine, but even if it doesn't, just start working their way down the ruling hierarchy and respond DECISIVELY to any WMD counterattacks.
Frankly, at this point, it should be obvious that the Israeli's have nothing to lose and everything to gain by taking the initiative. If they do not, they will lose everything and the world will be a much darker place.

Bullies use this tactic a lot. Bullies will be the first to accuse because it puts the other person on the defensive. In many cases, whether or not the accusation has merit, the act of stating it out loud causes some to believe it.
Iran has needed to have its a** kicked since they took the hostages in 1979.

It's true that there's a small, brave group of Iranians speaking out against Ahmadinejad.
Their parents were probably the Westernized group of Iranians, who, under the Shah, got out of Iran and studied in America and other Western countries, started that whole revolution, and were then pushed to the sidelines by the religious extremists.
Unfortunately, if they can't make significant change from within before the hardliners goad the West into war, they will wind up like all the "nice Germans" who died during WWII because they were in the proximity of the Nazis we HAD to destroy.
