Perhaps they're anxious to get on with nuking Israel. From Al-Bawaba, with thanks to Sr. Soph:
The Islamic Consultative Assembly (Iranian parliament or Majlis) on Wednesday ratified a double-urgency bill urging the government to speed up Iran's nuclear activities and make a revision in the country's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to meet interests of the nation. The bill on "urging the government to revise cooperation with the IAEA" was approved by MPs during the open session of the Majlis.
Majlis started review of the double-urgency of the bill during its Tuesday session. According to IRNA, the decision was made following adoption by the UN Security Council Resolution 1737 on Saturday night under the US pressure against Iran's peaceful nuclear program.
Of the total 191 votes cast, the double-urgency bill was ratified as 161 MPs voted in favor, 15 against and 15 abstained.
Addressing the session in favor of the bill, Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said, "Iran has always been ready to hold negotiations on nuclear issue rationally and based on international regulations. "The IAEA has repeatedly announced Iran had no diversion in its peaceful nuclear program but anti-Iran sanctions are raised while several countries in Asia have nuclear bombs."
Does any of this surprise us? They've worked us, and our leaders out. They know that we are run by limp-wristed lame ducks who are totally in hoc to the peaceniks, human rights lawyers, a ragbag assortment of lefties, Islamic groups and not-so-conscientious objectors - that is why the Iranian nuclear programme is running full steam ahead. They're doing it because they can. They know our weakness - and it is the population at large. We are spoiled these days. Only the older ones amongst us grew up in back to back or two up two down terrace houses with outside toilets, cold water taps, gas lighting and tin baths hung on the wall outside, just like the generations who won World Wars I and II. If you've got any photographs that date from the first half of the 20th century or earlier, they're very likely to feature tough, lean, grime-covered poverty-stricken people living in squalid conditions - the very people who fought for the freedoms we take for granted today, and are subconsciously abusing.
We should no longer talk with the Iranian regime, since the August 30th, 2006 deadline passed and conditions have not been met.

Correction:
We are run by puppet politicians who are bought and sold by corporate world - who are NOT nationalists but ARE globalists.
They are not patriotic. They are not loyal to American or the American worker. They are ONLY interested in lining their pockets as they sell our country, our culture and our jobs out from under us.
Since globalists are running the US, EU, possibly the business interests of Russia and China, they are way too busy rubbing their hands together at the prospect of cheap labor in Iraq/Iran, to bother doing the necessary work of taking the nutters out. Remember how we used Japan for cheap labor? Even China is outsourcing to Vietnam now.
I doubt that globalists even believe in the God who is going to pour out His wrath on them.
Translated into real English.
We Iranians are fast tracking our development of Nuclear Warheads.
There isn't much logic in rushing a Nuclear Power Station into operation is there?
Better for them to buy small generators. This way some will have power when we turn out their lights.

Pope meets Iranian foreign minister at Vatican
By ASSOCIATED PRESS
VATICAN CITY
Pope Benedict XVI met on Wednesday with Iran's foreign minister and received a message from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Vatican said.
The Vatican did not release details of the content of Ahmadinejad's letter, but Iran's state-run IRNA news agency said the note focused on Saturday's UN Security Council resolution imposing sanctions on Tehran, in the standoff over Iran's nuclear program.
Benedict and Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki met briefly after the Pope's general audience at the Vatican's Paul VI hall, the Vatican said.
During the talks, the Pope "reaffirmed the role that the Holy See intends to carry out for world peace, not as a 'political authority' but as a religious and moral one... so that peoples' problems will always be solved in dialogue, mutual understanding and peace," the Vatican said in a statement.
Iran's argument for nuclear technology:
Why can't Iran have "peaceful" nuclear technology? Several Asian countries already have nuclear weapons.
Huh?

This is Turnspeak and deception at it's absolute Wickedest!
So now it is US who is forcing them to use their PAECEFUL technology in self defence?
the time to take out these Nuclear sites is NOW!
Concerned Canadian - you hit the nail on the head and clearly outlined the evil nature of their statements.
"Addressing the session in favor of the bill, Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said, "Iran has always been ready to hold negotiations on nuclear issue rationally and based on international regulations. "The IAEA has repeatedly announced Iran had no diversion in its peaceful nuclear program but anti-Iran sanctions are raised while several countries in Asia have nuclear bombs."
Not to worry, folks. We have the Iranian government's statement that they are both rational and in favor of international regulations. And, they also in favor of letting Inspector Clouseau from the IAEA access to all the sites around the clock.
With such assurances pre-emption appears more and more attractive. Now, if we could only get Castro, Kim Zhong Il, and Chavez to visit Iran at the right time. Maybe, A-mad can convene a "World Tyrants Against Nuclear Sanctions" seminar.
