Iranian Weapons Arm Iraqi Militia

ABC bills this as an "exclusive," but there is no real surprise here. "EXCLUSIVE: Iranian Weapons Arm Iraqi Militia," by Jonathan Karl and Martin Clancy, with thanks to all who sent this in:

WASHINGTON, Nov. 30, 2006 — U.S. officials say they have found smoking-gun evidence of Iranian support for terrorists in Iraq: brand-new weapons fresh from Iranian factories. According to a senior defense official, coalition forces have recently seized Iranian-made weapons and munitions that bear manufacturing dates in 2006.

This suggests, say the sources, that the material is going directly from Iranian factories to Shia militias, rather than taking a roundabout path through the black market. "There is no way this could be done without (Iranian) government approval," says a senior official.

Iranian-made munitions found in Iraq include advanced IEDs designed to pierce armor and anti-tank weapons. U.S. intelligence believes the weapons have been supplied to Iraq's growing Shia militias from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, which is also believed to be training Iraqi militia fighters in Iran.

Evidence is mounting, too, that the most powerful militia in Iraq, Moktada al-Sadr's Mahdi army, is receiving training support from the Iranian-backed terrorists of Hezbollah.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a defacto declaration of war against the U.S. and other coalition countries by Iran? Doesn't this allow us to carpet bomb Tehran and Qom forthwith?

On another note, I can't believe that given advanced notice, Israel (with U.S. support) didn't bomb the Hezbollah gathering in Beirut today. Talk about a missed oppertunity.

Okay. That's fine. Iran is helping Maliki and his "Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution." Scari, isn't it? But last time I checked, they were the good guys, the guys in power, the government that was democratically elected and supported by the USA.

Oh, has something changed?

Sadly, what has changed is that James ("
f*ck the Jews") Baker and the Council on Foreign Relations / Walt & Mearsheimer "realist" school of foreign policy have reasserted reactionary conservativism and stolen it back from the (as per W&S) Protocols-like Jewish neo-cons /Israel Lobby, who themselves will now be punished for kidnapping dubya's foreign policy agenda. Baker despised Rumsfeld and for better or worse, his was the first head to roll. The Iraq Study Group is going to say, regardless of how many Iranian weapons are found, that calm in Iraq will only happen through concessions by Israel. Give up the Golan, and Syria will close its borders to the fedayeen. Engage Iran, because Ahmanutjob doesn't really mean it when he says he's gonna wipe Israel off the map, and even if he did, who cares 'cause it'll make the Arabs happy, and there's no oil there anyway. Again, it is the realist school of foreign policy: oil is king, democracy & human rights are anathema to Islamic/Arab culture (so why bother), Israel has no oil and as a democracy is out of place in the mid-east and must capitulate to the demands of the Saudi peace initiative and the violent jihad. Hezbollah will take control of the Lebanese gov't as well, no doubt. The Hariri trials will never commence, yadda, yadda, yadda. The sad irony is that the midterm elections have pushed things even more to the right and cynicism again rules the roost.

I am going to die soon, I do not want 72 virgins, One woman in my lifetime was enough. I do hereby vow to come back as a ghost that looks like a pig, I do hereby openly vow to make Muslim Mosques my haunt location.

at least with this news out in the open, Bush can still not bargain with the iran the real satan. l say carpet bomb his nuke sites sooner. great Christmass gift for the world.
exsgtbrown, no one knows for certain the time of our passing, unless you become a foolish suicide bomber.
please take care.

"Evidence is mounting, too, that the most powerful militia in Iraq, Moktada al-Sadr's Mahdi army, is receiving training support from the Iranian-backed terrorists of Hezbollah."
-- from the article above

And don't forget the training given by the Americans, who can hardly distinguish Kurds from Arabs (unless native informants truthfully make it clear) and certainly not Sunnis from Shi'a (and what native informants can be trusted to make that clear?),and certainly have no idea which Shi'a support Moqtada al-Sadr and which SCIRI or the Dawa Party. So no doubt members of the army of Moqtada al-Sadr, known as the Jaish-al-Mahdi(Mehdi's Army) or, acronymmically, as JAM, are also being trained, and armed, by those hapless Americans sent, and forced to remain, on their fool's errand, by the loyalists of that obstinate and incurable Innocent Abroad, George Bush.

So if things continue as before, Iraq shall have JAM today and JAM tomorrow, and the Islamic Republic of Iran will have, not today but tomorrow, its nuclear weapons. All for the sake of trying to do the impossible, and the self-defeating, in Iraq, rather than intelligently withdrawing to exploit the ethnic and sectarian fissures, and to concentrate on the main thing that now matters: the weapons Iran is attempting to produce. The only legitimate reason for entering Iraq was to scour the country for similar weapons or weapons projects. That remains the only legitimate goal of Americans in Muslim countries. For the rest, to get the Muslims themselves to see what is wrong with Islam, the only effective way to do this is to help create the conditions, by doing nothing to help them (and certainly not continuing the payment of the disguised Jizyah of foreign aid from Infidels to Muslim peoples and polities), that will force Muslims to make the connection between their political, economic, social, intellectual, and moral failures, and Islam itself.

And if they don't make such a connection, and will not change?

Tant pis. We will ignore them, as best we can, shut them out of our societies, as best we can, and work to limit any damage they can do to us, and to diminish their revenues -- their only real source of power -- from the sale of oil and gas.

It's not exclusive and it's also not new. For a long time there's been plenty of evidence of Iran aiding and abetting the Shiite insurgency (Revolutionary Guards have been "interfacing" with Al-Sadr's irregulars on the Iraqi side of the border and lots of spent Iranian-manufactured ordinances have been littering the Iraqi countryside). The former aren't AWOL and the latter wouldn't have made their way to the "black market" without government approval anyway.

I, for one, am absolutely SHOCKED. Not Iran?! Their president just wrote me such a politely-worded letter about how everything will be hunky-dory if we stubborn Americans just stopped being such meanies and capitualted to Iran's every demand.i

Surely, you can't be serious.

Get our soldiers out of the line of fire and let the Sunnis and Shiites at one another. No rules, no referees. Let the Saudis sweat it out also.

Iran officially declared war on us 20 years ago, so this arming of themilitias shouldn'tcome as any shock, except to the historically challenged.

If we're smart we should keep that as a trump card to oblige them at a time of ur choosing, so when the hammer drops, nobody has any reason to say squat about it...although the islamists and their allies withinourown country undoubtedly will try to omit that fact, as they do all their other conspiracy claims against the west.

militia [mi-lish-uh]

–noun

1. a body of citizens enrolled for military service, and called out periodically for drill but serving full time only in emergencies.

2. a body of citizen soldiers as distinguished from professional soldiers.

3. all able-bodied males considered by law eligible for military service.

4. a body of citizens organized in a paramilitary group and typically regarding themselves as defenders of individual rights against the presumed interference of the federal government.

These clowns are emergencies, so why call them militias?

I wonder if iranians would like some ieds on their own soil. I am surprised that there are no bombings in iran. Payback would be a bitch.

pack all bullets in pig grease, worked for black jack an its cheaper than cosmoline!

again pack the bullets with pig grease
that will slow em down
worked for black jack!

well it is not surprising thatIran would be arming the militias since it will cause trouble for coalition forces classic guerrilla tactics something Arabs have practiced in warfare for centuries. And the coalition forces allowed of Iraq it means Iran and almost walk in and take over Iraq and the Iraqi army still in disarray and would not be able to objectively defend the country. It also would give Iran direct access to Iraq's oil fields and a way to hurt the West quite easily by shutting off the flow of oil and use economic blackmail by against the West and Iranian Prime Minister seems like you would do anything he could hurt the Westand oil from his country and Iraq could have one heck of a weapon blackmail Western nations into abandoning Israel nations like France that pretty much in a pro-Arab and would run for supporting Israel like a mullah would drop a ham sandwich

Now that they have evidence, I hope they do something about it.

"Now that they have evidence, I hope they do something about it."

Jo, they will. They will ignore it.

I'd like to think that our leadership, civilian and military, is monitoring all that is going on and is just waiting for our enemies to do something really stupid so they can pounce on it. That's what I'd like to think.

As Ward Bond said to Humphrey Bogart in "The Maltese Falcon": "I hope you know what you're doin', Sam.

"Guess I'm just too simple-minded to understand this! "

No, AIG, it's the Bush/Condi comedy duo that's too simple-minded.

When oh when will somebody do something about A-Nut and the dirty old goat perverts running Iran?
I swear to God if the Iranian air force was capable of bombing US cities and did so the idiots in Washington would STILL do nothing. For almost 30 years we have suffered one depradation after another from these bastards with virtually no response. Will they have to launch a nuclear ICBM to FINALLY provoke a response?

No wonder A-Nut doesn't worry about the US. I wouldn't either.

We need to send an American Muslim delegation to Iran at once to negotiate with Ahmadinejad and explain our love of peace and compassion for our fellow man. We need to engage in serious dialog to build a framework of understanding between our peoples.

If that doesn't end the weapons shipments, we need to ignite a massive fuel-air explosion over the Iranian Parlament.

YAP YAP YAP!! B.S.
america just wants to invade the oil rich countries, iran is next on the list!

Oh, this reminds of Vietnam so much. Soldiers fight under-equipped and politicians lie to themselves that there isn't a full scale war going on. Hence, no real fighting of the enemy is done.
Bring in the B52's and B2's and give Ahmadinejad and his followers the same treatment as you did Hitler. I know, there will be innocent people killed. That was the case in Germany as well. But unless you take the war to the source, innocent people that can not do anything about it will die and "Hitler" will win.

YAP YAP YAP!! Truth.

When Iran goes down, it will not be because of oil, but because of actions like this thread subject story purports.
If America were in the business of seizing oil around the world, we would be in charge of most of it already, and would not see high gas prices.
We don't even tap our own oil resources.
Blood for oil is a red herring, as any semi-intelligent, well-informed person knows.
I wonder if Malcolm X believes Bush sets gas prices too, instead of commodity market forces.

from above:

"YAP YAP YAP!! B.S.
america just wants to invade the oil rich countries, iran is next on the list!

Bwahahahahahaha!

You are too funny!. There were many reasons for American action. The confiscation of oil was not one. Currently the only attacks on oil facilities (pumping, pipelines, terminals and shipping) occur at the hands of Muslims. If you will take the time to check into some history, the control of the Middle Eastern oil has been held by a small number of Muslims, the oil wealth has never been distributed to benefit the citizens of the oil rich countries. Oil wealth has been used to build palaces, finance the every useless whim of a very small number of individuals and to fill the bank accounts of the same individuals. Muslim countries are cesspools of poverty and dispair. The oil wealth has been used to purchase weapons and to finance terror.

You see oil producing countries like Iran promising to annihilate Israel and other countries just as soon as possible with nuclear weapons. Iraq had similiar plans until Isreal Bombed the Iraqi nuclear facilities a few years ago. Iraq ivaded Iran, there were over one million deaths, Iraq invade Kuwait, Iraq financed and trained terrorists who exported terrorists globally.
Even today we continue to find mass graves containing literally hundreds of thousands of executed individuals. (we know they were executed, the bodies are more often than not shot in the head and have been bound and blindfolded).

Islam is a killing machine, killing people for every reason under the sun. The invasion of Iraq is but just an opening salvo in a war that could ultimately end all life on this planet.

When you read and view the films of the atrocities committed at the hand of the followers of Islam you may come to realize that action must be taken now.

If you support Islam, you are a troubled individual. You do not support the rights to life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness.

You sir, are the enemy.
