Jordan's King: Israel not as strong as we thought

And he promises that the two-state solution will solve everything. This was, of course, the original plan in 1948, and it didn't satisfy the Muslims then; I doubt it will now. "King Abdullah: Israel not as strong as we thought," from Ynet News, with thanks to Sr. Soph:

Jordan’s King Abdullah said during an interview with Tokyo-based newspaper The Daily Yomiuri that “The (Lebanon ) war last summer showed that Israel is not as strong as we had previously thought, and, justifiably or not, the perception in the Middle East is that Israel lost.”

Abdullah, who is currently visiting Japan, added that “More and more countries in the region will now believe that the only way to get
Israel to listen is through force and not negotiations. Israel will have to take a significant step in the right direction that will lead to calm in the region.”

The Jordanian king stressed that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict remains the main source of Mideast tension. “Until we deal with this issue, which can be easily resolved, the Middle East will be forever cursed, as will the entire Muslim world,” he said.

Abdallah said that in light of the current situation Israel must decide whether or not it wishes to remain isolated.

“The Arab countries are very interested in moving the peace process along, and this conveys a message to the Israelis: If we advance the peace process and implement a two-state solution, all the Arab and Muslim countries will agree to establish (diplomatic) relations with Israel,” he said.

Abdullah also asked a pointed question:

"The next step is to get to the streets, the schools, the homes. This is not a process that could take place over night. In certain places this process could take 15-20 years, but eventually the moderate majority must decide – does it want to sit quietly, or does it plan to act against the horrible crimes committed in the name of religion?"

Sorry Prince, but we all know you are full of it. How many times has Israel sued for peace and a right to exist? It is equal to the number of times they have been rebuffed. IF the Arab Muslimss were really interested in peace, it could have been obtained decades ago. I would point to the establishment of HAMAS and also the Hezbos, if not the Palestinian charter. Who wants peace? In fact aren't Palestinians part of your people?

Maybe the Japanese believe, but no where else will you get away with such ridiculous statements. For example, how much trade does your state do with the Israelis?

The two-state solution will not solve anything! Muslims have made it clear that they will not be happy until Israel no longer exists! That's why the land-for-peace farce never works either.

Its also interesting to note that the King of Jordan wants no part of Palestinian immigration into his kingdom.

“Until we deal with this issue, which can be easily resolved, the Middle East will be forever cursed, as will the entire Muslim world,” he said.

Easily resolved?

Oh yeah. Give back Jerusalem. Return all '67 lands. Repatriate every last Palestinian refugee and cease to be a Jewish state.

Simple!

" ... and, justifiably or not, the perception in the Middle East is that Israel lost.” "

That explains why the whole Muslim world was crying for a ceasefire after Israel invaded.

Olmert go home, Benjamin Netaniahu is the right man to lead Israel.

Begin did not foolishly gave away for the sham "peace" agreement Egypt, it was a true and authentic agreement. But WEST did not honor its promises of support to both Begin and Sadat including their succesors.

The only thing that made Israel look week in the war last summer was their RESTRAINT! they could have easily , and utterly crushed Hamas , if it were not for them hiding behind women and children. Israel needs to take the gloves off and hit them or humanity if THEY had Nukes and more advanced weaponry. they should thank Allah that Israel is not as cruel as they are. they are Lucky Israel has humanity.

Edit:

The only thing that made Israel look weak in the war last summer was their RESTRAINT! they could have easily , and utterly crushed Hamas , if it were not for them hiding behind women and children. Israel needs to take the gloves off and hit them hard. if THEY had Nukes and more advanced weaponry we would see their lack of humanity. they should thank Allah that Israel is not as cruel as they are. they are Lucky Israel has humanity.

This seems a bit contradictory:

The Lebanon war last summer showed that Israel is not as strong as we had previously thought, and, justifiably or not, the perception in the Middle East is that Israel lost.

More and more countries in the region will now believe that the only way to get
Israel to listen is through force and not negotiations. Israel will have to take a significant step in the right direction that will lead to calm in the region.

Negotiating with Islamists is weakness, so Abdullah has it backwards. Israel is strong as long as it doesn't negotiate.

From what he said, I look at almost like he's calling Isreal out to fight. He thinks that they are weak. You would think Isreal being neighbors, would know these actions very well. It's almost like the Muslims read from a script.

It is difficult to make the case that Israel did not lose in the recent conflict in the Lebanon. I can not think of a single Israeli objective that was obtained. the IDF was able to seize ground, but did not hold it. Enemy personnel losses were easily replenished as were ordance and material losses. The enemy, by virtue of its ability to deny the IDF an outright victory, grew in stature in the islamic world, encouraged imitators, and increased its political power within Lebanon itself. The IDF showed restraint, suffered losses, accomplished virtually nothing and withdrew in good order leaving the enemy in control of the field.

"The next step is to get to the streets, the schools, the homes. This is not a process that could take place over night. In certain places this process could take 15-20 years, but eventually the moderate majority must decide – does it want to sit quietly, or does it plan to act against the horrible crimes committed in the name of religion?"

OK, so the Israelis should make real territorial concessions now so that King Abdullah can take it to the street, and as a result of those valiant efforts, in 15 to 20 years the moderate majority can decide, does it plan to act against the terrorists which have been killing non-muslims for 50 plus years, or does it want to sit quietly?

Sounds like a great deal!

Somehow, I think if it takes 20 years of an educational effort to get the silent majority to ask that question, I think I have a vague general feeling as to how they are going to answer it....

Plus, notice how King Abdullah didn't even say "crimes committed in the name of ISLAM"? So yes, I'm afraid Abdullah is going to be taking it to the street rather half-heartedly.

Jordan's King: Bigger Moron Than Originally Thought

Abdullah - get a grip - you are a fraction of your father and by ruling your country like a pansy you get what you deserve....

Hamas is making plans for terrorism in your kingdom - what do you do - brush it under the rug...

Israel trying to defend herself from hostile neighbors on all sides - what do you do - throw gasoline on the fire

Abdullah - you truly are a schmuck.

Never again must the Israeli army and air force be held back by the timidity and confusion of the civilian leadership, and the restrain shown wins no friends but merely emboldens enemies. The only way for Israel to keep the peace is to make sure not only that it possesses overwhelming power but is prepared always to use it, and that the Arabs never forget this. For then even then the meretricious Abdullah, who pretends that Muslim attacks all over the world will diminish -- no, they will increase -- if Israel surrenders its future and possibly, very likely, its life, for the sake of this false "two-state" "solution" that is not a "solution" at all, but a certain prompter of Muslim triumphalism, and future Muslim attack.

Israel din,t respect there oppostion they sent in poorly trained reservists didn,t show enough respect to the anti Tank ability of hezbollah they have systems that can defeat missiles in flight and they weren,t fitted to the tanks and they paid the price.

Next time they need to put in there best troops equip the tanks to protect themselves from the missiles and also employ greater use of special forces and snipers thjey need to be just as sly as hezbollah if they wan,t to be successful.

Hezbollah was also listening in on Israeli communications because the Israeli soldiers were careless in there communications.

Hezbollah was still standing at the end of the fight and killed a lot of Israeli soldiers so in there eyes they won and they will be emboldened by it and you will see more attacks down the line against Israel which is riding into a storm they have tough times ahead and they need to prepare.

Interesting, why hasn't he also apologized for the massacre of tens of thousands of "Arafaters (Palestinians) that his father was responsible for on Black September (Sept 17 1970?) Ooops that's right - he whispered it or is it that to another Arab life means nothing especially to the fake Hashemite kingdom that is suppose to be the "Arafaters" rightful place to be?

But the young king is very correct, Israel is weak. When they have a coward at the helm and a government that doesn't care for it's own people what do you expect victory? Israel needs better leaders even if it means to clone Golda Meir, Moyshe Dayan and King Solomon - and Israel needs to tell the US and Britain - We'll fight this war our way as we have done in the past w/o your "help." Perhaps then Israel will be a power to be reckoned with by it's terrorist neighbors who are also being supported by the West.
