I just got back from midnight mass, which was all incense, Latin and Gregorian chant. 'Reminded me of the last Latin mass at my church when I was growing up, circa 1976. I was thinking while I was there tonight how fortunate my friends and I are to be able to hear this gorgeous mass in the United States and how there will probably be people in other parts of the world who will try to go to mass tonight and will be killed for it.
I thank God for the mass, for the friends here and for this site, that all help us stay focused and on track to fight jihad. Merry Christmas everybody. And God bless us, everyone.

Pastor questions picture of Muslim on governor's Christmas card

NASHVILLE (AP) -- A Nashville pastor is questioning why Gov. Bredesen chose to paint a picture of a teenage Muslim girl for his annual Christmas card.
Bredesen's card shows a young Muslim girl that he met in Afghanistan last March.
Pastor Maury Davis of Cornerstone Church told WKRN-TV in Nashville that the governor's message is convoluted and could be interpreted as an insult to Christianity.
In the card, Bredesen wrote: "I met the teenage girl depicted in this painting in March of this year at a primitive school on the Shamali Plains Road outside of Kabul, Afghanistan. Until recently, under the Taliban, education was forbidden to her. She is now learning to read, and on the day I visited, was studying geography."
On the back of the card, Bredesen wrote, "While it may seem odd to put a portrait of a young Muslim woman on a Christmas card, this Season reminds us that He loves His children most of all. May the miracle of Christmas help bring peace and hope to this young woman and her wounded land."
Davis said the governor failed in his attempt to combine both Islam and Christianity for a Christmas card.
In response, Bredesen said the card speaks for itself.

Concerning the above-mentioned card, perhaps this woman's ancestors were originally Christian or Jewish because the people of that region were forcibly converted in the 7th century to Islam. By the way, the Pashtuns of Afghanistan claim that they are descended from one of the Lost Tribes of Israel.

We've outsmarted ourselves, clever folk that we are. We embraced the sexual revolution and created a lifestyle that embraces recreational sex, become adept at aborting our inconvenient children and have left ourselves wide open for the Islamic breeding machine to overrun us, simply by doing what comes naturally.
We've thrown God out of our public life with both hands and pretend like He doesn't exist. We've said to ourselves, I don't want be obedient to Him because then I will be obliged to do what He asks of me and I want to do what I want to do. But since there are no atheists in foxholes we will come crawling back to Him, like we always do, and will ask for help to repair our damaged lives, hometowns and countries. But will we have to wait until Manhattan looks like Beirut or D.C. looks like Kabul?
We did nothing to stop the hypocrisy of political correctness and the lie that is multiculturalism when they reared their ugly heads. We were too busy watching the Simpsons and learning to snowboard, instead of tending to the vigilance of our Liberty. We got lazy and complacent and told ourselves, it doesn't concern us. We put on our rose colored glasses and pretended like everything was o-tay! And all the while, we paid our money for the enemy's gas, made them rich and supposedly powerful, (remember, dumb is as dumb does,) taught them how to think like us in our universities and how to use our technology, and worse of all, how to use our laws to enslave us.
To see who the true enemy of our liberty is, we need only to look in a mirror.

I watched the mass on NBC last night. This is perhaps the most beautiful homily I've heard. It would have been even better not to have one Archbishop Foley's English translation over the Pope's kind of teutonic Italian but still resonant and warm. They should have provided subtitles since I suppose the homily is distributed some time before the mass.
I'll remember this as the "piccolo bambino" ==little child, baby, babe==homily.
