As G.W. Bush is MOST CERTAINLY a two-faced, hypocritical dufus, that does not necessarily mean that he's the biggest dhimmi in town. I think he actually believes that there are "hostile forces" (albeit only a small percentage) within Islam that want to destroy us (because we're the "great satan," you know). GIA, l do not back up Bush totally, as l am as well disppointed in many of his attitudes of the border, immigration and spending. but when you look at his alternates on the Democrat aisle that is more scary.
The US and rest of the West needs true leaders, leaning on the right, (which in modern times not that right anyhow) and can communicate and follow by actions for a total destruction of islam. l use to think bringing democracy would lessen the dangers in the middle east, and may still do it, but we are tying our military's hands and not allowing to destroy the likes of sadr in iraq. l am hoping that Guiliani gets the nod from the Republican side, and l vote him for the antiDhimmi award, as he continues today to avoid Saudi money and works for the US.

With all due respect, "clueless" doesn't even begin to describe nominating GW Bush for Dhimmi of The Year. Yes, he's certainly been a disapointment in his inability to name Islam as the true enemy, among other things, but that's a trait shared by everyone in the US Goverment regardless of party affiliation. Amazing how many people even here drink the Conspiracy Theory Kool Aid.
I'm finding it very hard to nominate an individual for Dhimmi of the Year, so many deserving candidates out there. Dhimmi Carter is an obvious choice, but there are many deserving characters. I'm gonna have to think this one over.
At some point Michael Moore needs to be recognized for his dhimmitude, although it is more of a by-product of his hatred for the United States and anyone who is a Republican than anything to do (so far) with being a submissive little puke for the Islamic horde.
That said, if there ever would be a "Jimmy Carter Lifetime Achievement Award" given to anyone, the first one should go to Dan Rather. He's pretty much right up there with Carter in terms of his kow-towing to tyrants and murderers.
I don't understand why there isn't more support here for Jacques Chirac to get the Dhimmi Internationale Award for 2006. I mean, his country is literally in flames because of these slimy little rat-bastard Islamists, yet he continually identifies the United States and Israel as the enemy to peace.
I can't think of a better universal definer of what it is to be a dhimmi than this guy.

But by endorsing that brain-dead suggestion that Iran's and Syria's assistance be short, and what's worse, dragging Israel into this solution, these two (Robert, can I bunch them together?) have easily overtaken everyone else who excelled this year.
Dishonorable mentions go to John McClain for his opposition of 'torturous' interrogation techniques, SCOTUS justices Ginsburg, Breyer, Kennedy, Stevens and Souter for striking down the Gitmo detention center, Rosie O'Donnell for suggesting that Christian fanatics are as dangerous as Muslim ones, Nancy Pelosi for endorsing the demands to make profiling of Muslims illegal, and some other Congressmen. Also, more implicitly, those GOP Senators who blocked John Bolton, such as George Voinovich and Lincoln Chafee, too deserve to be in this group; thanks to them, one can't fairly blame the Dems for Bolton's resignation. Too bad we aren't allowed to nominate groups or more importantly institutions, or else, ACLU, the 9th Circus court for okaying the role playing enforcement of Islam in a CA school and SCOTUS for refusing to take the appeal, the Dubai Ports deal (there's Bush again) and the car dealership that pulled its spoof of Muslims, and many more would also be there.

John Bolton, for his active opposition to acts within the UN, such as taking Israel off UN maps, as well as his opposition to one sided resolutions against Israel. Since he did his anti-Dhimmi activities in a hostile environment where it counted, I put it up there higher than anti-Dhimmi positions from, say Michele Malkin or Debbie Schlussel.
Honorable mention goes to the passengers of USAir, as well as voters who downed GOP traitors like Lincoln Chafee, Mike DeWine, etc. As for individuals, honorable mentions do go to Michele Malkin, Debbie Schlussel, Glenn Beck, Greg Davis & Bryan Daly, Rick Santorum and several others.

Here it gets competitive, but Indian leaders like Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi for doing absolutely nothing against Muslims in the wake of 7/11, but instead banning anti-Muslim blogs.
Kofi Annan, for his usual support to the Jihad, and in his high visibility (and moral high ground to too many in the world), comes a close second. Nothing I can think of that was done by Blair, Chiraq, Galloway etc that they don't do in other years. Olmert, for ending the invasion of Lebanon before crushing Hizbullah (there's an 'occupation' which can be described as justifiable until victory is achieved, unlike the social do-gooder projects in Iraq), and the Thai government, for doing nothing about the Muslim insurgency in Malay border areas.
I disagree with the characterization of Hugo Chavez as a Dhimmi. He isn't appeasing Iran, rather, he's allied with them and is an active non-Muslim Jihadist, if such a thing could exist. I don't know if he's already converted to Islam, but if he has, he can't be eligible for this award.
International Anti-Jihadi
John Howard and his colleagues, for insisting that Muslims either endorse Aussie values if they want to stay in Australia, or leave. Coming a close second would be Anders Fogh Rasmussen for standing firm in face of Jihadi demonstrations against Denmark.

My nominee for this would be Hassan Nasrallah for starting the Lebanon war again, with dishonorable mentions to Moqtada al Sadr, and Ahmadinejad. I don't suggest splitting this award between US and foreign.

While everyone has the freedom to vote for whom they want to, I do think that a vote for Pres. George Bush as Dhimmi of the year lacks a certain context and a certain sense of proportionality.
There are plenty of people out there (too many to mention) who by their words and deeds could not be any more Dhimmi's than if reading from a script prepared by President Tom himself. In my view, President Bush cannot fairly be put into that same category. Gen. Eisenhower was more of a politician than a general in many respects, and I am more of a Patten and McArthur man myself, but that does not mean that Gen. Eisenhower could be fairly given an award for #1 Useful Idiot---which is exactly what Dhimmi's are. Moreover, Eisenhower actively held Patten back, I am not aware of President Bush actively holding back or acting against those seeking to better protect our interest. To win a Dhimmi award, one needs to reach that level of sabotage, and I don't remember President Bush going out of his way to say anything like "the people at JihadWatch are nuts . . ."
President Bush has been a disappointment in many respects, both foreign and domestic. His failure to fight this war on the scope in which it needs to be fought is contributing to the problem. He is impeded by our PC culture even though he is portrayed as being such a cowboy. Everyone posting messages here wishes he was the cowboy he is portrayed to be.
We do live in a Republic, and govern through our representatives. With the exception of Rick Santorum, who wasn't even able to hold his Senate seat, were there better choices for President in 2004 or 2000? Heck, how many government officials at the national level are even close to approaching the conclusions stated regularly here? Again, God Bless Rick Santorum, but he stands out so much because there is nobody else.
President Bush has been better on this issue than 99% of the people in Congress (both houses). Unfortunately, it is not enough.
I acknowledge the inadequacy at this point, I have come around to the point of view that Islam is not worthy of the status of a great religion unless those "moderate Muslims" come out and prove it by their behavior somehow. The burden is on them in my view to justify themselves by their behavior.
President Bush, talk show hosts like Rush and Hannity, etc. are all very concerned about the Jihad threat, but have not yet crossed the point of questioning the validity of Islam on the whole. These folks are still helping the cause in various ways, if not fully, and are clearly better than Sen. Kerry, Speaker Pelosi, CAIR, the MSM, 99.99% of the foreign leaders one hears about.
To give an award to President Bush in this context is not helpful to our cause. We need to help people like Rush, President Bush, etc. take the extra step or two in our direction. To give him the Dhimmi award is going to turn many people away who are otherwise capable of being persuaded to our point of view.
We live in freedom, so all are free to vote according to their conscience. However, as future events evolve, we need to think about how to move people step by step towards a solution.
Writing off a good 30-40% of the population represented by President Bush/Rush/Hannity is a mistake of significant proportions. We need those folks to win. They are reachable, and incrementally helpful even from their current view points. Is Pelosi incrementally helpful? Is Carter?
Truman wasn't willing to take out N. Korea and he deserves criticism on that front, but he was a hell of lot better than McGovern, Carter, Dukakis, Gore, Kerry, etc. He did not deserve a Useful Idiot award then, and President Bush does not deserve one now.
That said, lets start working on getting someone better for 2008.

Another reason for the Danish Cartoonists and the papers that would or wouldn't print it is that everyone understands it. To succeed, Jihad Watch has to reach people. It needs to connect to what they understand.
People will remember the Danish Cartoons for a long time. The other nominees won't link to their memories of this year or to Islam very well.
Everyone understood the Cartoon issue, on all sides, right away. Ordinary people on both sides knew it was true, and that it was just a matter of moral and physical courage to say it or print it, or the absence thereof not to.
Jihad Watch is about moral courage to say the truth about Islam, as well as physical courage. Thus in honoring the Cartoonists and the Philadelphia Inquirer for printing them, Jihad Watch honors the principle that it itself most stands for, the moral and physical courage to tell the truth about Islam without holding back or flinching.
The Danish Cartoons are when people and newspapers had to take a stand on where they stood on both moral and physical courage. Most papers failed, in London and in America. The Inquirer stood out as being bold to print the cartoons while they were showed blurred on TV.
People remember that and they understand it. That will last long after the insider stuff about 2006 is long forgotten.
What makes awards is memorable winners.

Another advantage of Cartoons is that they connect to the common man that Muhammed is directly linked to the violence in Islam. At least one of the Cartoons depicts Muhammed as a violent man.
Muhammed was a violent man. He had people killed. Jesus didn't. Jesus was killed. Jesus didn't order people killed. This makes these religions fundamentally different.
This also makes the Cartoons connect to the centuries. They are not of a passing person or fad. The Cartoons connect to the real problem of the ages with Islam, Muhammed's violent nature and his preaching violence.

The Cartoons said that in a way that everyone understood. Everyone in the world then had to decide how to react. That's a real personal decision. People remember that.

I try to watch the News on MSM as much as possible so that I know how they are slanting things and what they are hiding and covering up.
Fact is: that story has been NOWHERE here in the USA. Haven't seen it mentioned in any of the newspapers either.

That is why Cartoons is the story. If you scroll through the monthly archive pages from Jan 2006 onwards, no other person or issue so dominates the archives of Jihad Watch itself. The reason is because cartoons connects to everyone. Everyone got it. Everyone had to decide where they stood.
Some made a shameful choice. This included newspapers which have fought for press freedom and human freedom for centuries. The London Times and New York Times fought against slavery in their pages, the English ended the slave trade, America ended slavery by a war.
The London and New York Times fought Hitler in their pages. They reported the Holocaust. They told the truth, eventually, about Stalin and Mao.
They have fought in court rooms for press freedom. They have reported the legal decisions of the House of Lords and the Supreme Court about press freedom.
New York Times v. Sullivan is one reason we can write freely on Jihad Watch today about public figures and say what we want about them. Recently, the House of Lords adopted a similar rule for the UK.
The New York Times reprinted the Pentagon Papers. When Nixon sought an injunction, the Washington Post reprinted them. The courts yielded. Freedom of the Press was saved for a generation.
These same papers blinked. Not in a small story, but in the conflict of our times. The conflict for the survival of our freedom. They blinked.
That's the news of centuries, not of a day or year. The New York Times and the London Times after centuries of moral and physical courage in the cause of press freedom and our freedom, blinked.

The ROE are not ridiculous, it is the way they are portrayed by media who lack understanding or who willfully misrepresent. The ROE are driven by the desired political ends, and while you may think that Bush's goal in Iraq is a pipe dream, it certainly isn't dhimmitude.
8. Got bin Laden Family on a plane Sept 12 2001 and FLEW them out of here courtesy of our tax money!
BS. It wasn't Sept 12, it was a few days later, and it wasn't at taxpayer expense. It wasn't the White House who rounded them up, it was the bin Laden clan who chartered a flight to get their own asses out of Dodge. They were not allowed to fly until restrictions on flying were lifted. From an intelligence perspective, we didn't lose much by letting them go. And besides, I'd expect you to be cheering at Muslims fleeing the USA on chartered flights.

Since no groups are allowed (that knocks out many of the above proposed suggestions) and since I think its important to be fairly strict in limiting the nominees to those who made their impact in the year 2006,
1. For American dhimmi - it appears that either Carter or Bush already has this category sewn up - but since we need more folks on the actual ballot than 2 - I think its reasonable to include James Baker, following the release of the ISG report before the end of the calender year.
2. For international dhimmi (and again, keeping the year 2006 in mind), I second (or 3rd or 4th) Ehud Olmert for the nomination as his decisions in the year 2006 were absolutely critical to the ultimate survival of Israel.
3. For international anti-dhimmi, the Pope would have been a shoe-in prior to his trip to Turkey but IMO his statements and actions on that trip removed him from contention for the award. So I second the nomination of a poster above for Robert Redeker, a private individual whose life has now been totally destroyed for speaking the truth about Islam.

I urge people to boycott all movies that these people appear in. I know I do. As a Tom Cruis hater I had to forego War of the Worlds for example and it's REALLY tough for me to watch "The Firm" and root for the "good guy" any longer.

There's a CNN transcript from the Lou Dobbs' Program, broadcast on June 19, 2006. In this report, Dubai Ports controls 22 (yes, that's 22) U.S. ports! And for which NOTHING is being done. Also, on the Internet, there are reports that Saudi Arabia has 19 U.S. ports. (I also recently read an article, Canadian, titled, "Dubai Ports -- Strategic Implications" -- about how the Arabs want to control world transportation and world finances (obtain a monopoly), then impose Shariah law at said facilities...(could also be used to boycott Israel, used for blackmail purposes, etc.) In the "strategic implications" article, the author suggests a number of dire scenarios.
