how much more restraint does Israel need to do? where is this quick repsonse. Israel needs to go on the offense istead of reacting for once.

It's hard to tell if this is Israeli restraint, or Olmerts folly. The more they do nothing, the worse it will get. Jerry Brown, former Gov of Cal USA, said, 'Sometimes inaction is the highest form of action'. I know thats a little hard to follow unless you are very esoteric, but the concept is not working for Israel. Olmert has been taking action without taking action. Inaction is called ,in this case, 'patience or restraint'. 'Passive resistance', wont work with muslims. You cant 'psych' them out of thier fixed delusions. The 'new' demo powers in Washington, think they can do just that. The action without action, 'talk', and lots of it...bowl them over with rhetoric 'Teddy Roosevelt said, speak softly and carry a big stick'' The implication being that if nice talk did not get the desired results, it was time for the 'application' of the stick.
The west has been 'talking' to Islam for sometime now. Talking does not seem to be bringing the 'desired' results.
The longer Olmert follows Jerrys theory, the more rockets will rain down. At some point 'restraint' has to be replaced with meaningful action. The way to overcome this is to let the military do the talking...take the tape off the mouths of the generals and untie thier hands...the rockets will stop...

Oh heavens perish the thought Zena!!! Think what all the dhimmi talking heads would say. Think how the UN will react--particularly our French and Russian friends, who only want to weaken the US and the rest of the west in a bid for power. Think of how the spineless left wing Brits would react in blaming the JEWS!! Think of how the left in America would once again blame the Israelis for causing problems. You see Carter and the other blathering idiots (such as Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer) do not recognize facts when it conflicts with their ideology.

I tell you this, if the Israelis lose the will to fight can the rest of us be far behind? If I had my finger on the button, we would have no problem. And make no mistake, this has been a problem of encroachment since the day Minimo had his first epiletic fit.

Israel is in a sea of non-negotiating idiots, there's no way in hell there will be peace. I don't care if they gave all of Israel to them, they would still kill at someone else !

I'm not sure this is such a dumb policy. Before Confederate forces were finally confronted at Fort Sumter, President Lincoln admonished Federal troops (at Pensacola, etc.) to not respond to Confederate attacks and had them withdraw from place after place where they were under attack.

Lincoln said it was best to let the whole world see clearly that the Confederate forces were the aggressor. Lincoln even countermanded any offensive action against Confederates preparing to fire on Fort Sumter (April 12, 1861). Lincoln said the Confederates wanted war, but the world must know that fact and that and it must be clear that they started the war. I think Olmert may be following a similar policy.

When Confederate forces open fire on Fort Sumter at dawn on April 12, 1861 they shelled the US forces there for two days. Finally, the US Navy (during a temporary cease fire) moved into Charleston Harbor and withdrew what was left of the battered US forces there. The Confederates cheered as US Army forces were forced to withdraw. However, Lincoln knew the country and the world knew who wanted war and who was the aggressor. Four years later, after the Confederate forces were utterly destroyed, the stars and stripes were raised over Fort Sumter (April 12, 1865).

In the month prior to the confrontation at Fort Sumter, the Lincoln administration looked pretty weak in response to Confederate attacks all through the South. However, Lincoln picked the time and place for the US government response. He waited till they got to Sumter. He wanted to wait until the whole world wondered why there was no response to such aggression, aggression that had been going on both before and after his inauguration (and Confederate forces were becoming bolder in their aggression in the face of what they thought was Lincoln Administration weakness).

Lincoln was dumb like a fox and not weak. He did things on his terms. Maybe Olmert and Israel are doing things in the manner of Lincoln in this matter.

The rockets have been falling on Israel almost non stop for a long time.The rockets come from Hezabollah, Who gets them from Syria, Who gets them from Iran, Who Gets them from Russia and China.
Ever notice how Russia and China Never seem to help on matters of fighting Muslims? They seem to always to be supplying them. I wonder if they are actually pulling the strings than make the Muslim puppets move. Russia and China have both been silently building up their military. The Muslim conflict has directed the worlds attention away from this fact. Russian submarine patrols have increased along the American coastlines (they have always been there, but they are increasing), Chineses submarines have been tailing US fleet activities in the Indian Ocean, and in the MidEast.

The appeasers and "cut and run" crowd who whine about 3,000 US deaths in Iraq over a 5 year period will be in for a surprise when that death toll becomes an everyday occurance. The Muslims are pushing the world to that level of destruction. But I do wonder, just who is pulling the strings?

For four decades, Israel has been seen to do no right by most EU nations, the UN and the MSM. The will was there to smash the crap out of Hezbollah in August, but the almost global response was to accuse Israel of "disproportionate" reaction to the kidnapping of a few soldiers for the purpose of securing the release of supposedly thousands of supposedly wrongly imprisoned "Palestinians", including the woman who tried to blow up an Israeli hospital where her life had been saved following a kitchen fire.
