A Somali Islamic Courts defence chief has for the first time called on foreign Muslim fighters to join his movement's war against Ethiopia.
"We're saying our country is open to Muslims worldwide. Let them fight in Somalia and wage jihad, and God willing, attack Addis Ababa," Yusuf Mohamed Siad, known as Inda'ade, said.
"Today the war is being fought by land and air," Sheikh Mahmud Ibrahim Suley, an SICS official, told reporters in Mogadishu.
"We want anyone who can help remove the enemy to come in," he told a news conference in the Mogadishu, the Somali capital and an Islamic Courts stronghold.
"Our Islamic fighters have taken control of Idale and are heading to other parts where Tigray (Ethiopian) invaders are now based, by the will of Allah, we will liberate our people and country from the Ethiopian invaders," Islamic Courts Information chief Abdurahim Ali Muddey said the AFP.
"We are at war with Ethiopia, but not with the government," Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys, the Islamic Courts leader said on Thursday.
Somalia's Islamic courts on Monday, June 5, claimed victory over a US-backed warlord alliance after four months of fierce fighting in the capital Mogadishu that claimed the lives of hundreds as the interim government invited the courts to take part in dialogue.
"The Joint Islamic Courts are not interested in a continuation of hostilities and will fully implement peace and security after the change has been made by the victory of the people with the support of Allah," its chairman Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed said in a statement cited by Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Reading the posts on many leftist blog sites, I can't help wondering if the extreme left in the US is sympathetic to Jihadists when they declare war on Christianity. Now if the jihadists said, "Rise up to destroy Christianity and Secularism," the story would be totally different. The irony of all this is that the enemy considers all resistance to the caliphate, ultimately, to be a "crusade," whether the crusaders are Christian or not.

Such honesty, directness (without the violence), is more in the line with what Christ taught than what Mohammad taught. We must respect such honesty and not condemn it.
It is the deception-hypocrisy that Islam permits (very unique) which makes it contemptible. Deception is more feared by humans that overt violence because the source of fear is the unknown. Islam is a religion of deceit. Violence is actually a by-product of that, though the violent may not necessarily be authors of deciet.
I salute honest Muslims such as quoted above. Non-believers must salute such Muslims for their directness, honesty. As long as they do not decieve they are not monsters, but humans. The monsters are the deceivers.
We don't take these mo-foes seriously because they're third world, sound 'crazy' and don't have the organization of a Hitler of Stalin that we can easily see. But they are even more dangerous because of their lack of cohesion. Our institutions and western educations and ways of interacting with the world make it difficult to take these guys seriously. We need to change this.
The combination of a lack of moral principle and the idea of defending one's beliefs against those of 'equal' value leave us with our gloves down. That and the fact that all of these jihadi movements are incapable of producing their own weapons make us roll over and go back to sleep. Well, Iran will get help from the outside and eventually they will have serious weaponry regardless of whether they are capable of producing it or not. In fact, they've probably bought a few nukes off the shelf already just in case they need them.
We need to knock these guys into the dirt -- hard. Taking out the regime in Iran and preventing a similar one from replacing it would do wonders to settle the world down. This is where we should focus huge efforts on a variety of fronts.

Until very recently, I fought against this idea in my mind for fear of becoming a conspiracy nut. However, the more cognitive disconnect rhetoric I hear from many of our political leaders, along with the virulent screed from the left, the more I'm forced to conclude that there is truth to this. The division in the US seems to be between those who hold the Judeo-Christian worldview and those who oppose it. It appears that, despite the increasing world-wide carnage being caused by the jihadists, the media and about half of our elected representatives consider the main battlefront to be against Christian culture and thought. This may prevent us from ever offering an effective resistance to Islamism.

We could point out other reasons, but this should be enough to show that to use in the Hausa translation the name Allah for the God of the Bible is a great error! It isn't 'preordained'. Think of it like this. God sees the end from the beginning. He is outside of time and is not limited by time.
It's like being above a parade. You can see the beginning of the parade and the end of the parade, but the folks on the street only see the parade as it passes them.

There is a strong contrast between Arab Christians who can love Jewish Christians and those who can feel that it is okay to continue to hate Jews after they profess to believe in Christ...wouldn't you agree?

All the blood letting in allah's name would cause me to call Him anything else. Call Him Creator of Heaven and Earth, Redeemer, anything else.

Take a second look at islam, it dictates every facet of life from how and when to pray all the way down to how to wipe your butt. Leaving is not an option and is punishable by death. You endure a life of denial for the promises of hedonism in the hereafter, it is quite simply the plan of the one we call satan, lucifer, baal, beelzebub, or whatever name religious scholars have given to the adversary.
I see allah as a direct reference to Satan when used in the context of islam, But this is not much different than christians saying God, it is not His name, merely a notation of his state of being a deity. When used by Christians, God is not referring to deities as a state of being, or to any other deity than our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. So I accept it as a word for God when it is all that exists in that language for Christians, but as the name of the adversary as the name chosen by him when used to refer to the god of islam.

Waraqa said, "This is the same Namus (i.e., Gabriel, the Angel who keeps the secrets) whom Allah had sent to Moses. Waraqa replied in the affirmative and said: "Never did a man come with something similar to what you have brought but was treated with hostility. If I should remain alive till the day when you will be turned out then I would support you strongly." But after a few days Waraqa died and the Divine Inspiration was also paused for a while and the Prophet became so sad as we have heard that he intended several times to throw himself from the tops of high mountains and every time he went up the top of a mountain in order to throw himself down, Gabriel would appear before him and say, "O Muhammad! You are indeed Allah's Apostle in truth" whereupon his heart would become quiet and he would calm down and would return home. And whenever the period of the coming of the inspiration used to become long, he would do as before, but when he used to reach the top of a mountain, Gabriel would appear before him and say to him what he had said before. (Ibn `Abbas said regarding the meaning of: 'He it is that Cleaves the daybreak (from the darkness)' (6.96) that Al-Asbah. means the light of the sun during the day and the light of the moon at night).þ

Very distinct and different experiences, Even Paul was not treated the way moe was, despite his harsh persecution of the Christians, the experience moe describes in that hadith is far more akin to the power trying to crush out Joseph Smith before it was banished by the pillar of light. satan's plan is on the earth, and it is in action and very successful right now. People LIKE the idea of having everything spelled out clearly, having what amounts to a free ride to glory, that is why 1/3 of the hosts of heaven followed lucifer, it seemed like a really good plan, and to those here who know no better, it still does. I am cautious and somewhat cynical re organized religion. However, I am struck by Jesus' theme against hypocrisy-deception in the gospels. He basically says that human nature is bad and God is well aware of that, but that it is hypocrisy-deception that allows what is bad to metastasise into ferocious evil. That is true with these Jihadists. They are doing things according to nature and reflect what human beings are about, but it is the hypocrisy-deception of other Muslims (CAIR, e.g.) that make and sustain evil. (What is done or spoken in deceit (as per Jesus) must always come "from the evil one".)
We must honor the Jihadists for their honesty and see where the evil really resides here. The belief-system is the only (major) one that permits deceit and Jesus definitely sources evil (as opposed to a weak-sinful human nature) in deceit. However, it is the deceivers who are the primary source of evil here-and not so much the openly violent Muslims.

With all due respect, this looks like an elaborate exercise in hair-splitting. It's generally understood that when one is talking about Jesus, one is talking about the Christian version, not the Mohammed wannabe (incidentally, anybody wonder why would Allah send Jesus down to annihilate Christians, when Mohammed did such a thorough job the first time, albeit with Jews and Pagans?), whereas when one is talking about Allah, one is referring to the henotheistic deity of Islam, rather than the 'God' of Arabic speaking people. Unlike 'God', which is more of a common noun than a proper noun explicitly spelling out the Christian deity to the exclusion of all others, 'Allah', particularly when used in an English discussion, is a proper noun specifically spelling out Mohammed's creation er master. Nobody uses the Hindi term 'Bhagwan' to describe Hindu Gods, since the term is a common noun in Hindi (and related languages) only, which isn't used when having a discussion in English. On the other hand, one doesn't substitute names like 'Vishnu' or 'Shiva' with God, since these are very specific Hindu gods. Similarly, it would be very misleading to substitute 'Allah' with 'God', since one has a very specific deity in mind.
If you fear that posters who come up with 'Allah is satan' or 'Allah is the moon' (what's wrong with the moon?) are alienating non-Muslim Arabs (who surely of all people know what's the subject of such conversations), what do you think of this book on Allah, which traces the historical development of Allah from ~600AD onwards, alongside the fortunes of Mohammed? It's written by a Bangladeshi ex-Muslim, who obviously doesn't seem to have grasped the idea that he'd be alienating Iraqi Chaldeans, Lebanese Melkites, Pali Christians, among others. Or, take our favorite Quranic verse 9:5:

re. "God" vs. "Allah". It is interesting that the translation can only be made in one direction. That is, whatever god in whatever language becomes "Allah", but "Allah" (the Muslim deity) can never be translated to any other word in any other language. Muslims in France do not pray to "Dieu", in the U.S. Muslims do not pray to "God", etc. Allah appropriates all, and none may appropriate Allah.

I am intrigued by the paragraph that says "The stone has been attacked many times and is now composed of several pieces and fragments, bound together by a silver ligature". Who attacked it? Surely not peaceful Muslims from the Religion of Peace.
Thanks special_guest. After posting that query I realized (Eureka!) that I can perform my own web search too for the answer and I came upon this site called Rocks of Famous Monuments. It had the following on the origin of the rock of the Kaaba:
"Until now scientists did not have access to see the make up of the Kaaba. The believe is that the Kaaba is a rock of meteoritic origen. Meteorites are form of melts like basalt (Igneous rock), or entirely magnetite (Mineral), or chondrites which are accretion of melt material over a core. Based on the color of the Kaaba (dark red brown with some black) most probably it is made of a combination of magnetite and basalt (Igneous rock)."
So that's pretty interesting too. I didn't realize that most of the rock was a dark reddish brown and not black. Anyway, it's another take on the Meccan rock.
Spelling aside, it seems like a good answer.
And the rock has a name!

I find it interesting that muslims will stick their noses up at Christians who use images of our Holy Family in their churches. They get very offended by "images" but they will waddle their butts around their holy rock with no problem and fail to see the inconsistency.
This is in response to special_guest's question to my comment on athiests.
Firstly do not get over heated,i merely meant to say that christians appear to take a beating from all sides.
I meant to say that athiests harp on religion period. The opinion on religion is like the opinion on owning guns.The fact is people kill people guns do not kill people,the same goes for religion.
Before you jump on the "crusader" bandwagon ,if you intended to go that route be sure you know what started that event in it's time.
The fact that you are in here possibly to learn more or teach someone something of islam they didn't know makes me think that IF you are an athiest then at least you know whats at stake with the islamic horde knocking on the door.
It is no secret that there is corruption in religion ,especially christianity just look at the losers on the t.v. in thier spangly costumes selling music c.d.s and asking for money.Money and power corrupt everyone.Jesus said money is the root of all evil,even the police follow the money trail to corrupt and evil activities.
The difference in christianity and islam is that we are smart enough to figure this out.Even the biggest skeptic would be smart enough to realize this point.
It is a fact though that unbelievers work toward keeping God out of politics and schools and other public things.
I find it not so funny however that our gov. can dictate whether our underage girls can have abortions without thier parents consent or not.This sickness can only come from the lack of "thou shall not kill" hanging on the walls of our elected leaders to whom they were elected under God indevisible and justice for all.
Yes it's true that the christians get the bashing while they are out in other nations feeding the hungry,clothing the naked and teaching them to be literate. All good things come from christians,yes there are athiests as well i will not deny that.Athiests are not bad people that is not what i am trying to say.
But i am confident that what the Bible says is true.Prophecies have come true and are comming true even now and the Bible has to be true because surely nothing good has come from islam and i know nothing good can be found in the koran.What does christianity offer and what does islam offer?How does christianity offer itself and how does islam offer itself?
It's okay to be Godless if thats your desire Jesus will not force you to his side and he has not told his followers to do so either,islam however is a different subject.
i know this is the long version of the answer,but when it comes to religion i have much to say.I am not an author or writer of any type so you will have to excuse my veering off to different points and subjects but in my mind this all lines up.
So in short that was my relevant point,that christianity seems to take a beating from all sides and all christianity wants to do is help Gods children.We also must keep the knowledge that there are corrupted souls in positions they do not deserve,but this too was seen ahed of time by Jesus when he said that there will be a great falling away from the church.This means satan has used his best trick in his bag of tricks and that trick is to make man believe that there is no God.

I do fully appreciate the tremendous distinction between the nature of the
single, supreme being described in the Bible versus that of the Qur'an -- I had hoped the opening paragraphs in my initial posting covered that.
What I was taking issue with above is painting in overly broad strokes, such as automatically assuming a certain level of affinity or doctrinal similarities to exist between non-Muslims who use the name "Allah," and Muslims. Indeed, there are highly dhimmified Christians who have identified with the Muslim agenda in their countries (such as many cases involving Palestinian Christians), but the use of the name "Allah" in worship should not be misconstrued as a basis for such an affinity, for the historical and etymological reasons I cited from the Pipes article.
Similarly, I took issue above with the oversimplified definition of "Allah." I see this
issue as related to that of the previous paragraph; hence my decision to bring it up in my initial posting. Stating that "Allah is Satan" has a way of putting the brakes on rational, level-headed discussion; it's inflammatory, and threatens to discredit the person leveling the charge. Even if someone chose to debate it, I suppose that could open up a can of worms on the existence and nature of the devil.
The issue of the Islamic deity's identity intertwined with that of the pre-Islamic moon god is more complex, since the Qur'an also places Allah above the sun and the moon (29:61) (found that here). Again, being imprecise can make it easier to dismiss one's other arguments. And, it threatens to send the discussion into a useless spiral of "Your god's a moon god." "Oh, yeah? Well you worship 3 gods." "Do not!" "Do too!"

I understand your point about the moon god - being wrong in ones description of Allah (note that whenever I write Allah, I'm implicitly talking about the Islamic deity, not the Arabic translation of god) can undermine one who's confronting Islamic apologists. As for 'Allah is Satan', I guess a case can be made for describing why and how Allah is evil, without necessarily conflating him and Satan, particularly since for the religious, it wouldn't merely be a question of semantics.
However, I do recommend to you the above book on Allah. Aside from some humor (Allah has arms, legs and ears but the idols do not have them), it tracks the historical progress of Allah, and how his fortunes rode on that of his followers.
