The actual number of Ethiopian troops in Somalia is the subject of great dispute between Ethiopia and the Somali jihadists. In any event, it is the cause that the jihadists have latched onto in order to justify what may be an imminent, final assault on the isolated seat of the internationally recognized Somali government in Baidoa, likely with continuing repercussions for Ethiopia.

MOGADISHU (AFP) - Somalia's powerful Islamist movement has given neighboring Ethiopia a one-week deadline to withdraw its troops protecting the weak government or face major attacks.
The declaration appeared to push the country even closer to a full-scale conflict that many believe could engulf the Horn of Africa and drew a swift warning from the government at its seat in Baidoa.
"We are giving a deadline to the invading forces," said Yusuf Mohamed Siad, security chief for the Supreme Islamic Council of Somalia (SICS).
"If Ethiopian forces inside our territory do not withdraw after a week, we will not hesitate to launch full-scale attacks on them," he told reporters at a news conference in the Islamist-held capital of Mogadishu.
"From today on, all Ethiopians must start leaving Somalia, if they do not they will be responsible for the bloodshed that will follow," Siad said.
Siad said Ethiopia had defied several calls to pull out out of the lawless country, where they are deployed to protect the weak transitional government from feared Islamist advances.
"We have given the Ethiopians a long time to leave our country, but now that time is over and we have started a countdown to the deadline," he said.
Islamist commanders said their fighters were headed to Beynulay area, about 25 kilometers (16 miles) east of Baidoa, ready to launch attacks after the deadline passes.
"After Beynulay, we will be advancing towards Baidoa from the eastern front," Sheikh Mohamed Ibrahim Bilal, the Islamic commander in the region, told AFP. "Our goal is to take control of the whole region."
Islamists said they were also targeting Tiyeeglow, about 150 kilometers (95 miles) north of Baidoa, effectively making it the fifth frontline after the towns of Dinsoor and Burahakaba in the south and Jawiil and Bandiradley in central Somalia.

The Islamists have already declared holy war on Ethiopian forces inside Somalia and claim to have launched several low-level but deadly attacks.
Ethiopia denies having thousands of combat troops in Somalia but acknowledges sending several hundred military advisers and trainers to assist the internationally backed but feeble Somali transitional government.
Addis Ababa has accused the Islamists of attempting to destabilize mainly Christian Ethiopia, which has a large and potentially restive Muslim minority.
Many believe war in Somalia could spread through the Horn of Africa, drawing in Ethiopia and its arch-foe Eritrea, which is accused of supporting the Islamists.
In addition, the Islamists have warned that UN Security Council approval of the deployment of east African peacekeepers would plunge the country into deeper turmoil.
This is just a shame that it has come to this. I hope that these radicals will be stopped, but i suspect that it is too late to stop the chain of events.

As much as I hate that this will happen, all of the "horn of Africa" will fall to the Islamists. Ethiopia is identified as one of the nations that will join Russia, Lybia, and Iran (among others) in an invasion of Israel (spoken of in Ezikiel 38). Ethiopia will become Islamic relatively soon.
More Christians are going to be slaughtered by these demonic hordes, and the rest of the world is going to sit back and ignore it. However, once these hordes begin their push against Israel, it will be the beginning of the end of Islam.

I have a certain measure of hope that something can be done to stem the tide of Jihadi activity in that region. The cynical (and realistic) part of me says that the tide will go unanswered by anyone. There is too much fear and dhimmitude saturating the "decision-makers" in the free world.

This is historical. Cry out 'democracy! democracy!' but when the will of the people is other than the will of 'the powers that be' then war is waged against the democracy and then blamed on them for making the wrong choice! The wrong choice not because it is incorrect but because it is not what the 'overseers' wanted so they throw a giant tantrum which ends up killing many innocent people on both sides...the side of the democracy and the side of the proxy government sent in to punish them for their democracy.
Anti-Islamic people of the world, you must make a choice. Do you realy want democracy (and if so be prepared to be just across the board) or do you just want to dominate the world (which is what you accuse others of). Well, I'm happy that Somalia finally has a stable(?) and democratically installed (??) government. I wish its people well if this is indeed the case. What goes on in the ummah is its own affair.
However, when Islam starts marching out of the ummah THAT is a bad thing and is a big problem because history has shown that when this happens there is no democracy and there is no stability. There is a lot of burning and killing and raping and stealing and enslaving. Most of those who are introduced to Islam in this manner are decidedly not happy since if they wanted to be Muslim they would have freely converted on their own. After all, someone once said there is no compulsion in religion. It's not very likely that Ethiopia will enjoy its introduction to Islam via its main tool, jihad. That is what concerns most of us at this site and rightly so. If Islam remained within the ummah most people wouldn't have a problem with it at all. When Islam leaves the ummah, people get worked up and for good reason. That's just the way it is, courtesy of a legacy of words and deeds that would frighten any sane person.

I have been guilty of referring to prophecy previously on this site, prophecy being a pet interest of mine but man, I wish people would lay off Exekiel 38.
Prophecy is interesting but in no way should we dwell too much on it (as it can become self fulfilling) or interpret it with certainty.
I'd like to refer you to Revelations 20 and in particular to Rev 20:8 which clearly refers to the same event mentioned in Ezekiel 38 -
ie, AFTER the antichrist is confronted and defeated by Christ and AFTER a further 1000 years of peace.
The reference to Gog and Magog is identical in both passages.
So, please desist from all the Ezekiel 38 prophecy people, by my reckoning we have at least a thousand years to go before we get to that one.

Somailia is NOT a Democracy but a Islamic State. Plus Democracy only works if you have an educated populas and are not muslim. Islam and Democracy are not compatable. Infact they are in direct competition becuase as we all know Islam is also a form of government.
People lets not confuse voting in a nation as being a democracy. You have some kind of founding documents or ground rules. Our ground rules are the Dec. of Independence, & Consitution/Bill of Rights. Somalia and countries like it have founding documents like the Islamic holy books.
