Steve Emerson at the University of Arizona: "This is going to be a very upsetting scene"

UPDATE: Whoops. Emerson's talk was last night. Here is a story about it (thanks to Rick). I apologize for the confusion -- it's the digitalis.

Steven Emerson exposes the activities of jihad groups in the U.S. For this, American Muslim groups and all other groups that profess to oppose that jihad activity should hail him as a hero. Instead, MPAC, for one, has singled him out for particular vilification. And now this piece, "Ex-CNN reporter's lecture here will bring protest as some call him anti-Muslim" by Stephanie Innes in the Arizona Daily Star (thanks to Davida), is an invitation to the kind of fascist disruption tactics that Muslim groups plotted against Brigitte Gabriel in Michigan recently.

Some community members are angry about an upcoming lecture by controversial author and former CNN reporter Steven Emerson, claiming Emerson is anti-Muslim.

Emerson, who wrote the 2002 bestseller "American Jihad: The Terrorists Living Among Us," is scheduled to speak at Tucson's Jewish Community Center Monday evening as part of the University of Arizona's Shaol Pozez Memorial Lectureship Series.

"The organizations that sponsored this man are not helping peace between the Muslim and Jewish faiths," said Muhammad As'ad, a Muslim who plans to protest the talk Monday. "This is going to be a very upsetting scene."

UA officials say they are aware of the opposition, but the talk is part of the series' goal of rigorous discussion resulting in a better understanding of important issues.

According to literature promoting his talk, Emerson is expected to speak about how militant Islamic individuals and groups have insinuated themselves into Western society. He contends that Islamist extremists living in the U.S. often pretend to be moderate while secretly carrying out a terrorist agenda in funding, organizing and coordinating the activities of radical Islamic groups.

Emerson's critics say the UA's Arizona Center for Judaic Studies, which is sponsoring Emerson's talk, should not be sanctioning "anti-Muslim rhetoric."

"I think he's a racist. ... He runs around and scapegoats Muslims," said Racheli Gai, a member of the local Women in Black group, which is an international peace network. She's also a co-founder of the Tucson Peace Walk — an annual walk and gathering of Muslims and Jews.

As a Jew, Gai said she's very angry that the Jewish community is supporting Emerson. Co-sponsors of the lectureship series include the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona and the Tucson Jewish Community Center. Gai said she expects a group of Christians, Jews and Muslims will be protesting outside the center....

Emerson is the founder and executive director of The Investigative Project, which keeps a database of intelligence on Islamic and Middle Eastern terrorist groups.

Emerson has been told of the controversy surrounding his visit and is not surprised.

He's accustomed [to] opposition, having faced accusations of being anti-Islamic, and has even received death threats in the past, Wright said.

If you go: Terrorism and national-security expert Steven Emerson is scheduled to give a lecture titled "The Grand Deception: Militant Islam, the Media and the West," at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Tucson Jewish Community Center, 3800 E. River Road.

Go, if you're in the area -- particularly if you have law enforcement experience. Don't let the bullies win the day.

1)As always, the truth hurts regarding Islamania.
The poor babies really need to get over it already.

2)Racheli Gai must be one of those clueless Jews of the Olmert type. If she really thinks Muslims don't mind sharing the world with Jews then she's living in the wrong world because that will never be the case.

3)Women in Black is a peace group? Nice color for promoting peace, and fitting when one considers the kind of peace Islamania would like to see in the world-a peace where there isn't a single infidel left to convert or kill-especially Jewish ones.

It seems like the jihad gets more brazen every day in the US. The non-flying imams and their law suit, now this rubbish.

I thought Britain had it bad but things are progressing apace in the US it seems.

No doubt this can all be pinned on victimisation or the Pope at a (small for Muslims) stretch.

Very wisely this Steve Emerson lecture is taking place at a Tuscon synagogue/Jewish community center. Not on campus

So let it rip Mohammedans and moonbats. I want to see you on TV trying to disrupt this talk

BTW I think Steve Emerson speaks at many synagogues. He spoke in FL last year at one

Quite children, Mother islam is angry; but Mother islam is ALWAYS angry.

Auntie Liberal is just as angry as mama; now be good little children and try not to upset them.

Hushhhhhh!

is an invitation to the kind of fascist disruption tactics that Muslim groups plotted against Brigitte Gabriel in Michigan recently.

This talk was on campus. Steve Emerson is speaking at a Jewish community center off campus. Let the the brainwashed minions of Allah try their s*** at this Jewish center

Yes, the campus Jewish organization is co-sponsoring this *off-campus* lecture

Women in Black? Isn't black the color of the Islamic flag as well?

"I think he's a racist. ... He runs around and scapegoats Muslims," said Racheli Gai, a member of the local Women in Black group, which is an international peace network.

Once again being anti Islam is being a racist. We all know Islam is not a race (or even a religion as far as I'm concerned) but its followers act as if they are the master race. Therefore, I submit the following definition of a racist as regards Islam: one who refuses to accept the master race mentality of Islam, its followers and its apologists. I am happy to be a "racist" and so should every infidel.

Women in Black? Isn't black the color of the Islamic flag as well?

Posted by: TheOmegaMan at December 12, 2006 10:20 AM

Actually, I believe peepee green is Islam's color but black would be more appropriate for countless reasons.

FROM ABOVE:

"The organizations that sponsored this man are not helping peace between the Muslim and Jewish faiths," said Muhammad As'ad, a Muslim who plans to protest the talk Monday. "This is going to be a very upsetting scene."

It seems Muslims object violently to the truth being disseminated. Tell Muhammad to protest the Muslim treatment of Black Muslims in Darfur, or the sensless violence of Muslim upon Muslim violence in several areas on the globe. Tell Muhammad to protest the blackmail being imposed upon the American Society (most recently the Inman/airport incident where the Muslims are now suing).

Tell Muhammad to go get a life.

There are several flags, but the flag of the calipha is black.
http://www.fotw.net/flags/isl-khil.html

There is no "anti-Muslim rhetoric" from Steve Emerson, ever. He is meticulously factual.
His adversaries are, never. Let facts be submitted to a candid world.

Suggestion: If any anti-jihadists are in the Tucson area and can attend, please take video and audio equipment. Get quotes and names from those thugs who attempt to disrupt this important information session. If possible, also get the names of those who, like Racheli Gai, deliberately misuse the "racism" charge (and does anyone really believe she is that stupid that she thinks Islam or "Islamism" is a race?). Then try to publish the information or send it to a website (such as JW, Islam-Watch, Western Resistance, Religion of Peace, etc.) that would like to publish the material.

"The organizations that sponsored this man are not helping peace between the Muslim and Jewish faiths," said Muhammad As'ad, a Muslim who plans to protest the talk Monday. "This is going to be a very upsetting scene."

Typical, typical, typical. First of all, Gai is one of those clueless, socialist Jews that can't refuse the kool-aid. When are the Jews (especially in America) going to get smart. For you're own survival you better leave all this socialist BS behind. Thank God there are a good few conservative Jewish writers and thinkers. When it comes to Islam, Jews and Christians have to stick together against dhimmitude and the destruction of Western society that Islam desires.
As for Women in Black, another group that has its head where the sun doesn't shine. I know a whole group of peaceniks who have been back and forth to Iraq. Mostly Christian socialists. They get highly miffed and act hurt if you challenge their positions....especially regarding the nature of Islam, jihad, etc etc. Now, I wasn't all for the US going into Iraq--or at least going into Iraq the way it did. But the shoulds or shouldn'ts of US involvement in Iraq isn't the point. The point is that these groups (especially the peacenik groups) refuse to see the situation for what it is. We will be seeing more and more set up incidents like the flying imams, more and more speakers who hold an opposing view of Islam/jihad/etc greeted by disruption of their presentations. Wake up the jihad is already on our shores.

Off topic, but relevant.

Student Protesters Interrupt Ahmadinejad Speech

In Iran, a group of students disrupted a speech by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday. It marked the first major public protest against Ahmadinejad since he took office. The students screamed Death to the Dictator, set photographs of the president on fire and threw firecrackers at him. Ahmadinejad cut his speech short. As he left, students kicked at the car that carried him away. The president's guards did not remove the students or use force to stop the protests. Meanwhile Iran is hosting an international conference questioning whether the Holocaust occurred. Holocaust deniers from around the world are attending including former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke who claimed that the gas chambers in which millions perished actually did not exist.

'American Jihad' author makes waves at JCC
Calls for Muslim condemnation of Islamist terrorism, blasts media
By Stephanie Innes
ARIZONA DAILY STAR
December 12, 2006

He was denounced as anti-Muslim by protesters outside, but controversial author Steven Emerson drew applause inside Tucson 's Jewish Community Center on Monday night when he called on Muslim leaders to "unambiguously condemn" Islamist terrorist groups.

He also drew applause when he criticized Western newspapers for succumbing to intimidation and "appeasing Muslim demands" by not running controversial Muslim cartoons that made headlines this year.

Hard-core jihadists are a minority of the world's 1.2 billion Muslims, he said. But he added that minority is disproportionately influential and said genuinely moderate Muslims would do well to better empower themselves by vocally condemning groups he connects with terrorism — Hamas, Hezbollah and al-Qaida.

The author of the 2002 bestseller "American Jihad: The Terrorists Living Among Us," Emerson spoke as part of the University of Arizona's Shaol Pozez Memorial Lectureship Series, sponsored by the UA's Center for Judaic Studies. The title of his speech was "The Grand Deception: Militant Islam, the Media and the West."

Typically the lecture series attracts about 250 people, Judaic Studies Director J. Edward Wright said. Emerson's talk attracted at least 500 people.

Organizers had to open a sliding wall in the packed auditorium to accommodate the overflow. Many in the audience gave him a standing ovation when his talk was complete.

Critics cast Emerson as a disingenuous "fear-monger" and accuse him of carelessly interchanging the words "Muslim" and "terrorist." About 25 protesters stood outside the center holding a banner with writing that said "Scapegoating hurts us all." Another banner read "We refuse to be enemies."

"We're concerned about the culture of scapegoating Muslims in this country," said Tucsonan Jessica Weinberg, a 35-year-old UA graduate student who is Jewish and was one of those protesting. "Historically, Jews know what it's like to be scapegoated. We should recognize when that happens to others."

Weinberg did not listen to Emerson's talk because she thought it would be too upsetting.

Though he wasn't surprised about the protest, Emerson suggested the protesters' energies would be better spent rallying against terrorism and Islamic jihad. "They have misplaced priorities," he said.

Emerson said claims from many Muslims that the West is engaged in a war on Islam fuels Muslim communities' paranoia that Muslims are being selectively targeted for racist reasons or because Western foreign policy is anti-Muslim. He said that tactic is likewise used by terrorists.

The vitriol Emerson attracts is largely based on his contention that groups representing themselves as mainstream Muslims often have terrorist ties.

"The real aim of these groups is to neutralize the government's war on terrorism and to change its conduct in foreign affairs," he said. "The first reaction to the London and Toronto arrests was not to applaud the government's actions but to warn of an anti-Islamic backlash."

One group he spoke about Monday was the Council on American-Islamic Relations — CAIR — a nonprofit organization that says it is America 's largest Islamic civil liberties group. Emerson says legitimizing CAIR is counterproductive to the war on terrorism.

"Publicly these groups insist righteously that they are against terrorism — their assertions are dutifully reported by the media," Emerson said. "But in fact, the media ignores compelling evidence of their origins and patent defense and/or veneration of radical Islamist leaders such as Hasan al Turabi of the Sudan and even the Taliban pre-9/11."
CAIR denies the accusations.

"Unfortunately, Mr. Emerson has a long history of seeking to marginalize and disenfranchise the American Muslim community and its institutions through the use of guilt by association, smears and distortions," said CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper, who is based in Washington, D.C., and was not at the talk.

Similarly, Tucsonan Mohyeddin Abdulaziz, a 59-year-old Muslim, said he believes Emerson preaches hate. Abdulaziz participated in the protest

witness said:

"Auntie Liberal is just as angry as mama; now be good little children and try not to upset them."

Love your sarcastic humor! I email articles like this from JW to my liberal relatives and friends all the time. Sometimes I'll get a reply like: I'm soooo Islamed-out" or "What a Yawn" or some disconnected drivel , but they never ask me to STOP sending. I don't care if my little grains of sand irritate the hell out of them though. Maybe one day my liberal cronnies will revert to clear-headed thinking.

why do we never see anyone disrupting Muslim lectures and questioning their speakers?

Oh I forgot, probably the death threats or the intimidation factor.

"Weinberg did not listen to Emerson's talk because she thought it would be too upsetting."

I guess ignorance is bliss. If you are a woman or a Jew (or both), then pretending that islamic fascism isn't a threat to you will undoubtedly render it benign.

Since Brigitte Gabriel was mentioned I also wanted to pass along her description of the speech in Michigan:

"I am glad to report to you that my presentation at the University of Michigan last night went without a glitch. Credit goes to the alertness of the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and local and university police. Highly visible were 8 police officers, a K9 team, a personal body guard and a variety of well positioned TV cameras from a Fox news crew for Bill O'Reilly as well as local TV station and university TV crews.

The event organizers worked furiously to place heightening security after we were alerted on Sunday of a Muslim call going out that stated "Muslims, Arabs, and their friends and allies should give Gabriel a proper welcome." It is a crying shame when a speaker, any speaker in America today, has to have such security on hand just to ensure they can deliver a lecture at an American university. Our founding fathers are turning in their grave.

The event went without a glitch not because of the respect of the civilized Arab Muslim students who wanted to give me an uninterrupted platform to express my views about Islamofascism and terrorism but because of the large presence of security personnel and the TV cameras that kept others wishing to agitate from behaving badly. Knowing that they will be wrapped up and swiftly taken away in a moment by the police officers as the cameras recorded their foolishness on national television kept them in their seats.

You have to take your enemy at their word and defend yourself and show them that you will not put up with any nonsense from them, that you mean business. They wanted to show Brigitte Gabriel the proper welcome, Brigitte Gabriel wanted to ensure she was prepared to reciprocate. As a Middle Easterner I know what they respect.

So many conservative speakers and organizers assume that hopefully the students will behave, because we should have the right to free speech in our country. They show up usually with two police officers giving the enemy the benefit of the doubt. You cannot give your enemy the benefit of the doubt. You are to assume the worst and be prepared for it. And if it is going to take 8 police officers, a K9 team and a body guard for us to speak our views on college campuses and gain back the mind and soul of our youth, so be it.

Moral clarity, courage and unshakable determination are what is needed now to take back our universities. Fear, intimidation and political correctness need to be thrown by the wayside and we should move forward in the fight of our lifetime.

Oddly enough, a search does not come up with msnbc, cnn, cbs...

"I think he's a racist. ... He runs around and scapegoats Muslims," said Racheli Gai

Im so sick and tired of hearing this. This racecard bs needs to stop! ISLAM IS NOT A RACE LADY! I seriously wanna scream when these people such idiodic things.

Agreed^^. I learned a lot from that site. It is a bit aggressive and maybe even Harsh , but so is what they/we are up against. I tell you this though , the Palestinians arecertainly Not the VICTIMS.

Nice deflection there Nariz. Now what say you about Racheli Gai. Funny how you won't bash her religion. Telling. Very telling.

Nick Danger,

Nice post. Thanks for the info.

Yes, it is upsetting to hear and to know that there are 1.4 bn people on this world who WANT YOU DEAD. 1.4 bn who want your lands. 1.4 bn who will NEVER STOP in their pursuit to kill you, to steal your lands and your possessions.

But please don't blame Steve Emerson who is the messenger.

Blame islam.

Blame the dhimmi governments we have in the West for not doing a damn thing about it.

The K9 unit at Ms. Gabriel's speech was an inspired note. A weakness not nearly noted enough is a Muslim's hatred, but more importantly, fear of dogs.

A police officer once told me that the best home security you could buy was a big dog. It appears that they might have a suitable use against Muslims as well. Taking a nice walk with man's best friend past a frothing Muslim protest, for example.

@Debreena

Why should Nariz bash Judaism? It's an inspired, inspiring faith that birthed the Messiah Jesus. Jews are the canary in the coal mine in our war against fundamentalist Islam.

Judaism is not a black-flag waving flag of destruction and death like Islam with its false prohpet, the fiend Mohammad.

Ynkedoodl2,

I agree with you. Christianity is an extension of Judaism. There would be no Christianity without Judaism. The primary contention, as I see it, is with regard to the coming of the Messiah.

Christians believe he has come once and will come a second time. Whereas religious Jews believe he hasn't come yet but will.

I don't like to see Christians bash Judaism anymore than I like to see Jews bashing Christians (I'm Jewish btw).

I am a new poster here but I find it incredibly rude that Nariz knows the host of this site is a Christian but is still aloud to trash Christianity with obvious hate in his/her words. I'm just wondering if he/she is Jewish. If so, maybe he/she should read your post because he/she obviously doesn't understand the relationship between Christianity and Judaism.

Like I said I'm new here but patterns of verbal abuse toward Christianity do seem present with him/her.

Did you hear Michael Savage's program last night? He talked about this very thing. Christians and Jews need to LOSE their enmity toward each other. He also talked about the rarely mentioned fact that 7 million Christians died in the Holocaust too.

I worry about the possibility of thousands of ISLAMICANS pouring over the southern border. These guys are being taught how to speak spanish and act "hispanic" (thanks Hugo). God knows what they will do once they get here.....

File for unemployment
Have a baby
Get a car
File for foodstamps
File for Social Security benefits
Demand a right to vote
Demand a seperate homeland for all good little ISLAMICANS

And on and on.....ad nauseum

Oh Lord! Remember the monks who had a hit record. They recorded some of their chants. Picture yourself listening to a solid hour of calls to prayer..in Dolby Stereo!!!! ARGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

God! I do tend to ramble when frustrated!

I noticed an outpouring of 'moderate muslims' to support the speech- oh wait- no I didn't *cue cricket chirps* Seems to me that if muslims- moderate mislims want us to start trusting them here in the U.S they will come out in droves to support those that tell the truth about radical islam- but nary a word is spoken about hte muslim's silence. http://sacredscoop.com

I hope FNC and CNN send reporters to this speech.
They need to be exposed to the truth about islam.
Martha McCallum on FNC seems to be more educated about jihad, but needs more shock-therapy. Emerson is just the one to provide it.

Weinberg did not listen to Emerson's talk because she thought it would be too upsetting

Would Weinberg just hop on the train to Auschwitz?
The way she talks makes me wonder!
These people want to kill you Jessica!
Wake up people!
http://usawakeup.org/

Islam is not, I repeat not, I repeat (for all those who have sh** in there ears) not a race, thus saying something against Islam is not racist, just like saying something against Christianity is not racist. Islam is a religion or more precisely a cult, a cult of violence, distruction and death.

Debreena,

Welcome to the forum. Watch out for Nariz, who is nothing more than a provocative adolescent with little life experience, and, therefore, practically no relevance. If you get into an argument with Nariz, and start to win, Nariz will play the race card and call you a racist or bigot, or, even more humorously, an imperialist.

Debreena~ Another welcome here also!
Especially watch out if nariz discovers your faith. You will automatically be accused of supporting 'reconstructionists,' especially if you defend yourself or your faith.

I will say this: when he actually sticks to the topic Robert posted, he makes sense.

The efforts of the islqamofascists here is too little and too late...he was on FoxNews (outranking everyone put together in viewership) so everyone who needed to be convinced were...and only those who do not wish to be were affected locally there.

^5s to Steve.

One evening right near a Local HighSchool
there was a young man asking people to attend
a Muli-faith class about Tolerance and respect
that hapepned to be held at That school , I started questioning the man and low and behold
it was a Pro-Islam group that managed to get a room at a Catholic school under the guise or
tolerance and religious pluralism .
It didn't take long for the guy to blow his top when I toyed with him over the role of Jesus since the School was a Catholic one,and basically this bogus "Multi-faith" class for tolerance
was a ruse to lure in Christians or others
and then attempt to spread islam by mocking Jesus as the messiah and exalting Muhammad as the Model citizen for how we should behave.

When Hooper at CAIR rants about "Building bridges" with other groups he really means that
non-Muslims must hear is tripe and understand that Sharia-law will mete out the punishment
to the unbelievers that engage in Blasphemy
against Islam and Muhammad , CAIR's version
of building that bridge is so non Muslims can jump in their cars or buses and take a ride over the bridge to visit Islam and meanwhile Muslims have planted bombs on those Bridge and when you get to the middle , the bridge blows-up and everyone plunges to their death and the re-building team shows up and denies it was their fault but starts to make another bomb-laced bridge to murder more unsuspecting non-Muslims.

Those who like to claim hate speech and Racism during these "protests" need to be responded to in the affirmative.

Yes, we to hate people who wish us harm, desire to dominate us or desire us dead.

Kinda hard to embrace and tolerate that kind of attitude.

When was the last time anyone invited to dinner someone they could just barely tolerate? (outside the in-laws of course)

News that you will not get from Fox, Limpballs or Oreilly.

Student Protesters Interrupt Ahmadinejad Speech

Nariz: Foxnews has reporting the Student Protest all day today and part of the day yesterday...

Its CNN, CBS, MSNBC i wonder about.....

FoxNews was the ONLY one to mention it...only hours later did SOME the alphabet channels begrudgingly mention it almost moaningly as if someone died. lol

Steve Emerson is one of the greatest living examples of the Islamosavvy among us!

There are influential Americans waking up to the threat of Islam - but why so few and why are they being voted out of instead of into office?
Melanie Phillips has a diary entry on Rick Santorum, who unfortunately just lost his Senate seat in Pensylvania.
http://www.melaniephillips.com/diary/index.php

The article by Santorum, 'Knowing Our Enemies', is excellent.
http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=MGUzZTlhMjRiN2NhZjlmYTIxODgzM2I0OTY5ZmRhN2Q=

How ominous to see a Muslim, Keith Ellison, voted into Congress and one of the few who 'get it', Santorum, voted out of the Senate.

Oh, hey guys...

Here's another site of interest the islamofascists will love to express their murderous rage and institute a "fatwad" on...
