This comes to us from our Exploiting the Natural Fissures Department. "Sudan: Islamists Accuse Iran of Promoting Shiitism," from AKI, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
Khartoum, 19 Dec. (AKI) - Sunni Islamists in Sudan have accused Iran of trying to spread its brand of Shiite Islam in the East African country through a propaganda campaign. The Sudanese chapter of the Muslim Brotherhood organisation in a meeting with authorities in Khartoum on Monday said it had presented evidence of Teheran's attempts to convert locals to Shiitism. "It's a large scale plan conceived by Shiite groups and local organisations with the objective of spreading Shiitism in Sudan," a spokesman for the group told the Arab daily al-Hayat.Sunni groups have denounced what they say is a "Shiite peril" and the opening of several Shiite mosques in Khartoum.
They have asked authorities to close down the Iranian embassy's cultural centre and to prevent it from holding conferences which they say are being used for propaganda purposes.
"Shiite penetration in Sudan has become possible because of a lack of control on the part of the authorities," the Muslim Brotherhood's Sudan country representative, Sadiq Abdullah Abdel Majid, said.
The number of conversions from Sunni to Shiite Islam has been on the rise in recent years both in Muslim nations, particularly in North and East Africa where many have been impressed by the success of the Teheran-backed Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah's military successes against Israel.
As Osama said, everyone prefers the strong horse.
This is a most excellent example of what's wrong with Islam. The people that practice it are never happy!
Now these folks in the Sudan want the government to regulate their fellow Muslims. I guess that it will lead to a civil war?
Excellent! The brothers are unhappy (what else is new there?) so maybe they'll start knocking off one another. I'm surprised that those evil Jews aren't blamed for being behind THIS plot as well but I wouldn't be shocked if one of the "holy" men makes such a claim in the future.
Another example of why Bush should quietly prepare an exit strategy in Iraq that will ultimately lead to an all out Sunni / Shia civil war.
Everywhere this occurs we should be the shoulder for each side to cry on. Then we should discreetly sell outdated, yet still quite effective, arms to BOTH sides and promote their mutual destruction.
This sounds familiar in some historical way. Oh yeah, I remeber, it's a page out of the Reagan foreign policy playbook. Another sad example of how far we have fallen in less than 20 years time.
This is grand. It appears that the "success" of hizballah during july-aug this year has had some very very great effects accross the muslim world. It's good that the americans told the israelies to back off on that large scale assult they almost executed where they probably would have destroyed hizballah quite a bit and it probably wouldnt' have looked much like a "victory" for hizballah. Thanks to american stupidity (telling israel to pull back) we have once again gained. Like the iraq war (sunni-shia hatered rizing), like this. It almost makes you wonder!
Hezbollah victory? Let's hope Israel gives them another victory real soon.
Speaking of the "fissures" -- I happened to catch from Google's videos (from MOSAIC), a speech made a couple of days ago by Nasrallah. He was goin' bonkers. Yeah, really, really steamed.
He's terrified of the Sunnis, and afraid of dissent (he was making rambling references to "enemies" of unity). He was screaming and pounding the podium about the necessity of maintaining unity and fitra. Ok.. so, what's needed is more Sunni dissent.
Poor Islam-so many enemies from within and without. How could its god be so cruel? Let us all weep for poor, lonely, misunderstood Islam now.
Weep the tears of laughter that is.
Tell them to contact their powerful Saudia Arabian Sunni brother and ask for the powerful Saudia Arabian military for help.
It's pretty appearant that the conflict is going to go to a civil war in IRAQ. This might be the pretext needed to get out of there. Obviously, we could charge the SOWDIS for the cost of deployment to keep it from being a civil war.
This would also put us in a position to dictate how people are going to act in that theater with the consent of the SOWDIS.
It will also bring to the attention of the American public the situation of the ISLAM in America. This is what happens when you let Sheria law consume your governance.
Why should anyone care what brand of disfunction is practised there?

The reason , as everyone knows, that the Muslims are so dysfunctional and just hate everyone, including themselves it the JOOOOS fault. THe Muslims just cannot stand to hear the truth that it is old MO, the pedophile , the one they adore, the one who "speaks the truth" actually just lied to them. Old Mo was just interested in self wealth and was willing to kill for it. Just to make it legal, he wrote a book declaring his actions were justified by ALLAh. Then if you did not believe his book, he would kill you. His family tradition continues to this day. And his family is indeed dysfunctional.
islamofascists just don't like the competition
To exploit the natural fissures in the enemy camp requires a mindset not present--either through unwillingness or inability--amongst the power-wielding elite and its servants and sycophants in the United States.
Reduced to simplest terms:
You cannot dance the minuet wearing lead-soled Frankenstein's-monster boots when you didn't want to dance it in the first place.
Dancing slippers and a flair for dancing are required.
The mental agility of a Machiavelli not the simplistic sloganeering of a Bush ("democracy," "stay the course," "the Iraqi people," etc.)is required to take advantage of the fissure.
Pooh-poohing the existence of a civil war in Iraq and clouding the issue by bringing in mythical "insurgents" from Bathists to al-Qaedas hinders not helps.
Who in our camp, though, is able to be a Lord of the Dance?
This just in:
The Southern Baptist Convention has issued a press release containing a complaint about the United Methodist Church and their practice of sprinkling instead of full baptism. The Baptists stated that this is heresy and will launch war against the Methodists unless they start full immersion baptism. Sunday morning a bomb exploded near . . .

Yes, I know that feeling.

This is precisely why once we are out of Iraq, we shouldn't enter Sudan either. Let the newly minted Shia-Sunni friction take care of things there, just as they can in Iraq, and then spread to Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Bahrein, Qatar, Yemen and anywhere else.
When a Shia fights a Sunni, it means two less Muslims available to combat us. Working out the numbers, there are some 60m Shia in Iran, 15m in Iraq, 2.5m in Syria, 1.5m in Lebanon, and some 10m in the Arabian peninsula - all totaling about 90m. Against them, there are some 40m in the Arabian peninsula, 10m in Iraq, 5m in Jordan and 15m in Syria - all totaling up to 70m. Allow for the Ikhwan in Egypt pouring in support for the Sunnis, and you have battle royal throughout the Levant and the Arabian peninsula.
The current worldwide Sunni Shia population split only looks uneven when one accounts for the fact that between the Indian subcontinent and the East Indies, you have 0.5b Mohammedans, of which only 10% is Shia, and by the laws of weighted averages, it makes Sunnis look far more numerous. But they aren't far more numerous in the Mid East, where it seems to matter. That's where the exploitation of natural fissures come in.
Now, if we could figure out some way of sending that 0.5b Muslims in the Indies on their haj, so that they could join in the action: only thing, we'd need to accelarate the conversion of Sunnis to Shia in Africa, so that they too can be sent in.
Pass the popcorn.

Narrated `Ali:
I relate the traditions of Allah's Apostle to you for I would rather fall from the sky than attribute something to him falsely. But when I tell you a thing which is between you and me, then no doubt, war is guile. I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "In the last days of this world there will appear some young foolish people who will use (in their claim) the best speech of all people (i.e. the Qur'an) and they will abandon Islam as an arrow going through the game. Their belief will not go beyond their throats (i.e. they will have practically no belief), so wherever you meet them, kill them, for he who kills them shall get a reward on the Day of Resurrection."þ
