There is that word "humiliate" again. Muslims are fixated on it. Why?
Simple. It stems from the psychological dilemma of believing in a supremacist creed while existing as a bottom-feeder in the world of production/consumption.
The ethos of Moslems everywhere: To be peaceful is humiliating and wrong; to live murderously is the holy way.
Based on that, one could almost imagine that al-Libi has been reading the Koran.
I don't think it's that simple, Cornelius, the honor-shame/humiliation runs through so much more, e.g. woman's behavior has direct impact on the man's position along that axis, etc. The stuff must run deep in the childhood/family/socialization structure.

Which leads me to ask why instead of pushing the weak "authorization to use force" resolution against al Qaeda, Bush didn't push for a real "declaration of war" resolution, which would have fully entitled Bush to use his commander in chief authority to adopt wartime measures, such as censorship off the press (done both during the civil war and WWII)?
New York Times wouldn't be able to leak classified information about the war, the Abu Ghraib scandal would have never have happened, and the media wouldn't be able to mount the "Iraq is Vietnam" campaign that largely lost Republicans the Congress.
So when the Supreme Court tries to tell US forces how to interrogate enemy combatants, why doesn't Bush point out that we are at war, he is the commander in chief, and so the Supreme Court has no jurisdiction in that matter?
In fact, even with the authorization to use force resolution, most of the administration policies under criticism could still easily be defended as temporary wartime measures, as historically the commander in chief did have a lot of leeway in wartime (Lincoln shut-down pro-Confederate newspapers and suspended habeus corpus during the Civil War, and the US did not become a dictatorship).
It is true that Muslims think they are superior and can,t stand being at the bottom of the heap and that is the real reason for there terrorism and it is also the reason they attempt tp crush there woman is that they need to be able to walk on there woman to make themselves feel big.

I'm sorry to say that if one does the math, one finds that 9000/mo is a drop in the bucket. I looked up, in the almanac, the "natural rates of growth" for the seven largest islamic countries. It averaged out to 1.75%/year. Assuming this rate to be about the same for the entire islamic world, with the oft-quoted figure of 1.3 billion, one arrives at an annual increase of about 23 million/year or almost 2 million/month, which makes 9 thousand/month look like chump change.
It is this, the demography, that is the truly frightening thing about the predicament we are in. The jihadists and suicide bombers are just the side-show. The demography is the much greater threat.
And it is in face of this threat that our (i.e. Western) leadership shows its true witlessness. Many Western countries already show a negative "natural rate of increase", yet no one does anything to change the situation, or even admits that there is anything that needs changing. Probably the most witless of all is Vladimir Putin. The Russian population is declining at the rate of 0.5%/yr. Russia is committing slow suicide, largely via alcoholism and abortion. About one half of Russian pregnancies end in abortion (in the U.S. it's about one fifth). Putin should be making every effort possible to change this situation. Instead, he's busy selling nuclear technology to Iran, whom he ought to recognize as one of Russia's most dangerous enemies.
We may complain about Bush being witless about the threat, but compared to Putin, he's strictly "bush-league".
