NAIROBI (Reuters) - Somali Islamists are under the growing control of an al Qaeda cell in East Africa, a U.S. diplomat said on Thursday, as Washington condemned their threat to attack Ethiopian troops backing Somalia's interim government."The Council of Islamic Courts is now controlled by al Qaeda cell individuals, East Africa al Qaeda cell individuals. The top layer of the court are extremists. They are terrorists," U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Jendayi Frazer told reporters.
"They are killing nuns, they have killed children and they are calling for a jihad (holy war)," she added.
Nice words Frazer. Now, how about some action? Like supplying Ethiopia with what it needs to defend itself. The Ethiopians have known this for quite a while now and could use a little help before it will appear only in history books.
l think the US can shipon off a billion dollars aid with either man power and or weaopns to the Ethiopian troops, take it out of the fund that would of went to say Egypt, the palis, any other failed middle east country. that would be all muslim countries.

The Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles rejected the argument(that taking a stand against the islamists would perhaps bring them back later with a vengeance), saying the policy of dialogue and engagement has only bought the Islamic Courts movement time to expand its control.
"It surprises me that intelligent people at the dawn of the 21st century could claim that if you respond to terrorism with force, you spawn terrorism," he said. "But that if you appease them, you somehow tame them."
I nominate the Prime Minister for next year's contest for international anti-dhimmi of the year. He certainly has a better grasp of the issue than the appeasers.

I just saw a report about this last night on the news. They news anchor labled the Jihadists as "religious fighters" when will the world wake up?
