RAMALLAH – The United States, aided by Israel, over the last few weeks has provided 7,000 assault rifles and more than 1 million rounds of ammunition to militias associated with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah party, senior Fatah militants told WND.The arms were provided to bolster Fatah against rival Hamas factions, the Fatah militants said.
Fatah and Hamas have engaged in weeks of deadly firefights since Abbas last month called for new Palestinian elections in a move widely seen as an attempt to dismantle the Hamas-led PA.
Abu Yousuf, a Fatah militant from Abba's Force 17 security forces, told WND while some of the weapons may be used in confrontations against Hamas, the bulk of the American arms would be utilized to "hit the Zionists."
He said if there is a major conflict with Israel, U.S. weapons provided to Fatah may be shared with other "Palestinian resistance organizations."
According to documents revealed Friday, the Bush administration will provide $86.4 million to strengthen security forces loyal to Abbas, including Force 17, Abbas' security detail, which also serves as de facto police units in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.
either this is a State Department stunt, still it is full of clintinoids, and or they are hoping to arm the civil war between Abbas's gang and hammas.

There's an extremely remote possibility, that rather than being incredibly stupid and naive to the point of being suicidal in thinking that Fatah is even a pinch less genocidal against Israel than Hamas, the US and Israel are actually setting up the various unofficially "militant wings" of Fatah if they turn these weapons against Israel as the provenance will be very easy to establish.
Khalid Abu Tomeih, who once was a PR flack for the PLO, but has written for the Jerusalem Post for years under the protection of the Israeli government says that Fatah is like the Mafia, and I'm inclined to take his assessment as an honest one.
I'm sure they're hoping to fuel the gang wars, but I'm equally sure it'll blow up in their faces.

This is utter insanity. There cannot be any civil dealings with these animals. All that can be done with any sanity is to subdue them. The so-called "Palestinian Authority" is populated with the lowest forms of life possible. They know nothing about civilized behavior or culture. All they know about is aggressive force and bloodshed.

waterdragon52 by your logic, l am inclined to believe what you said, l to have read articles by this Khalid Abu Tomeih in the Jerusalem Post. he must be under terrific protection. abbas and his gang are crooks and use islam as their vehicle, where as hammas are even more dangerous. most societies in the past have imploded from within, and this is happening with the palis. so perhaps the US and Israel are hastening these islamist love of death. better they send their own to allah land (hell) than Israel having to do it. more hand wringing from the UN/ EU! lolol

There should be a lesson for your country about losing control of your weapons to terrorist groups. In Australia we have lost control of 7 rocket launchers and now we are basically just waiting to see how they will be used against us. I hope that your weapons are not smuggled back into your own country and used against you.

One possibility that should be considered is that the weapons have RFID transceivers so that Israeli troops can track 'em in case of an expanded war with Fatah. I've heard of this being done before and it seems pretty smart! But Olmert and Bush don't appear that smart, so who knows....
People have to understand that this is perfectly normal as all Jews are not Jews, but that Jews are as part of factions as any at war with each other as much as Shia and Sunni.
The most glaring example is Olmert who now heads the cabal running the Judean state. He allows the shelling of Judean settlements and removed certain Jewish settlements. When one is aware that the Jews who are being attacked are Americans who are Orthodox Tanakh or Torah believing Jews then when one equates that Olmert is from a socialist sect with ties to European Talmudic Jews of the Ashkenazi converts who are in the minority practicing Shabatai Zvi religion and trying to secure the Judean state for themselves......then it starts to make allot of sense how he blew Sharon's peace settlement which Sharon worked out with President Bush and how these arms are ending up in Hamas hands.
This Olmert sect in the early days actually imported numbers of Arabs to counteract the influx of Judean's who are "God fearing" so these Shabbatai Zvi "false prophet" would win out who are part of the Babylonian mystery religion, but in the minority.
The people who are in charge of Israel currently are European socialist leaning Ashkenazi (the Ashkenazi are an Asian nation who converted to Judaism) and they are in league with the Jesuit Catholics trying to secure Jerusalem as a world religious capitol for themselves.
It is no secret that the European banking cartel of the Rothschilds who are Ashkenazi Jews built the Israeli Supreme Court building to their exact standards so it mirrors a Babylonian Egyptian temple and sits in Jerusalem.
Ignorance labels all Jews as Jews when some are Judean in children of Judah and some are converts practicing a religion by Shabbatai Zvi who said he was the Messiah and told followers that sinning more would bring about the kingdom of God.
That is what is behind this insanity and until people start learning that there is indeed a war inside of the Jewish state of different sects as violent as northern Ireland or Iraq that American policy is going to be subverted.
