"This is not just a day out, this is about re-education. It will allow the youths to see for themselves how much suffering the Second World War caused." Very well. I hope it works. But I wonder if these "youths" will simply snicker behind their hands and praise the Nazi genocide among themselves -- certainly other Muslims in Europe have done so openly. It is not enough to show that Jew-hatred leads to human suffering; youths indoctrinated with Qur'anic Jew-hatred may well be impervious to signs of human suffering. That Qur'anic Jew-hatred in itself must be confronted if there is really going to be any effective "re-education." But no one dares do that.
"'A good way to show they have regrets,'" from Flanders News, with thanks to Panos:
Fri 05/01/07 - Ten youths from Beringen (Limburg province) who had thrown stones at Jewish youths visited the Anne Frank Museum in the Dutch city of Amsterdam today. The youths were accompanied by Federal Minister Peter Vanvelthoven. The trip is part of a re-education scheme after an incident which caused widespread upset in December. The facts go back to the end of November last year. A group of young Turkish immigrants in the Limburg municipality of Beringen attacked a group of Jewish school children by throwing stones at them, shouting anti-Semitic slogans.
The Antwerp school children were visiting former mining buildings in the area. The incident led to the children returning immediately, as the windows of the youth hostel where they would be staying overnight had also been smashed.
The incident was made public a week later and shocked the local community in Beringen.
It was agreed that the youths should apologise to the Jewish school children, that they would visit the Anne Frank House and do 30 hours of community work as a punishment.
"Not just a day out"
Federal Employment Minister Peter Vanvelthoven and Ahmed Koç, an alderman on the Beringen town council, accompanied the youths to the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam to confront them with the horror the Jewish community was faced with during the Second World War.
"The Anne Frank Museum is quite impressive," Mr Koç told VRT radio.
"This is not just a day out, this is about re-education. It will allow the youths to see for themselves how much suffering the Second World War caused. I think that seeing it with your own eyes has more impact than seeing it on TV."
Federal Employment Minister Peter Vanvelthoven (Flemish socialist) accompanied Mr Koç.
"The visit to the museum is not a holiday trip. You should see as an extra day for the youths to show society they regret what they have done."
I'm with you, Robert. It is doubtful that the visit to the Anne Frank House will give these poor, confused youths an appreciation of the sufferings of those they have been indoctrinated since birth to call "sons of apes and pigs".
Great link ! What an education. Topics include "Islam's Stance on Oral Sex", "Men Wearing Silk Neckties", and my personal fave, ""Can Pyschological Problems Affect Muslims ?"
imnodhimmi is correct, muslims enjoy themselves when they think about the suffering of jews. I am afraid that empty gestures such as having htem visit holocaust sites only give them fresh ideas on how to make jews (and infidals) suffer even more.
The Jewish youths who were attacked were on holiday from Antwerp, but had to cancel their trip and go home because the police were not prepared to protect them from the Turks.
Does it say anywhere whether they have been able to complete their original holiday plans?
Deport them.

your average Muslim kid would treat a visit to the Anne Frank Museum like a fun day out.
This will have no effect.
Anti-Jewish sentiments are found everywhere in the Qur'an and Hadith and Sira. When Bernard Lewis attempts to suggest that "antisemitism" (a word that should be written in the plural: there are "antisemitisms") in the Muslim world is merely an import from Europe, he reveals that for some reason he has chosen to overlook so much in Islam, so much in the canonical texts and in the writings of Muslim jurisconsults, and indeed in the work of Western scholars of Islam whom he appears, judging by certain footnotes, to have read but has overlooked what they actually wrote (egregious particularly with Georges Vajda).
A collection of both Muslim texts, and the studies of Western scholars, should change the minds of those mentally prepared, even former acolytes, not to keep treating Lewis as the last word on "Muslim antisemitism," and will do much to disabuse a wider public of the idea that Muslim antisemitism reflects only fury at Israel's existence, or was inspired mainly by the European version of antisemitism that has been such a grim feature of the last century.
Such a collection, I have heard, is now well along in its preparation.
Yes, ImNoDhimmi, what a site that is!
For instance, it addresses using mind-control to "make new Muslims":
'Mind control and brain washing are not allowed in Islam for any reason, including the desire to make a person Muslim. These methods are manipulative and coercive and they contradict the basic dignity of human beings.'

Ah, the irony.
A one way trip to Turkey is the only remedy.
I'm sure these punks will merely yawn and can't wait for all this to be over so they can resume their usual "fun" activities. They will also probably blame Hitler for not being thorough enough in enabling Anne Frank to live so long and write a diary describing Nazi horrors.
It's true, its "not enough to show that Jew-hatred leads to human suffering; youths indoctrinated with Qur'anic Jew-hatred may well be impervious to signs of human suffering." That's right. But you wouldn't expect anti-semitism in the Qur'an to be a topic of discussion under any government-backed program in Europe would you? Robert is right that "Qur'anic Jew-hatred in itself must be confronted if there is really going to be any effective 're-education.'" But simply to conclude "But no one dares do that" doesn't provide any solutions. I know, Dhimmi Watch and Jihad Watch aren't here to provide any solutions. Then who will conduct such work? Certainly not the dhimmified 'think' tanks informing government. Occasionally we get bursts of 'what we ought to do' lists on these blogs and like-minded ones, but where are the real players who are doing more than 'raising awareness'? Where is the positive program of action? What are we raising awareness for, for heaven's sake?
"The incident was made public a week later and shocked the local community in Beringen."
So the locals were shocked? I'm not. My neice was over there as an exchange student. She kept getting dirty looks from the euro-locals and couldn't figure out why. Then her house mother told her that she had "jewish hair." My niece's hair is quite curly. The euro culture is blind to their own general hatred of Jews...why then should they be "shocked" when they see the blatant hatred by muslims?
Why not 6 months in prison and then deport them?
Does anyone really think that this will turn them against the Jew hatred of the koran?
oh dear - a visit to a museum ... that will teach the naughty "youths" to behave themselves ..
Anne Frank is also female as well as Jewish. Dhimmi whore and f-ck meat.

Another tantalizing hint. Excellent news.

And a trip to the museum led by a Federal Minister (I'm assuming analogous to a U.S. Congressperson). Several hours face-to-face with a leading politician, giving them his full attention. That ought to help the self-esteem of these poor misguided youths. If not, then bring on the free scholarships, government jobs, increase in welfare payments, etc. etc. We've got to win them over somehow.
Sickness.
How about Americans, British, French, and Germans being required to visit the Mass Graves found in Iraq or required to visit the bloodstained prison cells found.
"How about Americans, British, French, and Germans being required to visit the Mass Graves found in Iraq or required to visit the bloodstained prison cells found."
Maybe we should. But this comment is a typical example of fallacious reasoning (if it can be called reasoning at all)--it has nothing to do with the original issue, which is that these Muslim youths were violently attacking Jews. How about commenting on the article itself instead of bringing in an unrelated topic?
Equally interesting would be a follow up after this "visit" to hear what the little cretins had to say -- in at least 3 languages to get the full effect.
Mr. S., will you check for a follow up if there is one?
If Muslims should be forced to view evidence of death at the hands of the Nazis to show that Jew-hatred leads to human suffering, then Non Muslims should be shown that Islamic hatred of people seeking to lead normal lives leads to human suffering.
It appears the world too often turns a blind eye to the mass murder and torture at the hands of Islam.
Take a young juvenile to a maximum security prison (some prisons actually have prisoner programs to talk to the youth). The young person will think a little more about his life. It is a moving experience. These maximum security prisoners are no joke, they are real killers.
For a better insight to Muslim violence, you need to see its proof. THe mass graves and torture cells are real. The bodies are real, THe Islamic threat is real.
Forced indeed!! I hope the rest of the visitors/witnesses at the Ann Frank Museum were not subjected to these terrorists.
It would be more appropriate to order them to READ her diary, write it out (longhand), do a comprehensive book report, earn the admission $ to the Ann Frank Museum (as an additional part of their community service) and then - IF all tasks were completed conscientiously - be granted the PRIVILEGE of attending the museum (with strict supervision).
The terror-parents ought to be required make restitution/amends as well.
