CNN's documentary on Muslims in Britain: "the effect is misleading and subtly racist — against white Britons"

What a surprise. From "British Muslims Get Their Soapbox," by Brendan Bernhard in the New York Sun, with thanks to Web:

Radical Islam in Britain will also be featured tomorrow night on "CNN: Special Investigations Unit," a new series which sounds like something involving David Caruso, designer sunglasses, and murdered fashion models. In fact, this episode, "The War Within," stars Christiane Amanpour, and while it would be going too far to call it an unflinching look at Muslim extremism, it does at least look at it. But let's not give Ms. Amanpour, arguably the most famous female journalist in the world, too much credit. Oriana Fallaci lamented before her death last year that she had come so late to the most important story of her lifetime. She was talking about the growth of Islamic radicalism in Europe, and she was referring to its beginnings in the 1970s.

Now in 2007, we have Ms. Amanpour, chicly turned out in dark glasses and a long dark coat, announcing at the outset that London, which has been not only her home but also her "refuge" from conflicts overseas, is itself embattled, a site of conflict and suicide bombings and fear. Unfortunately, little history or context for the eruption of this problem is provided. A massive, highly politicized Muslim population is just suddenly there, in Britain. There is no reference to the fatwa against author Salman Rushdie in 1989, when there was widespread rioting by British Muslims, let alone to the notorious 1968 "Rivers of Blood" speech by the maverick Conservative politician Enoch Powell, in which the issue of immigration was placed dramatically on the front burner of English politics before being swiftly removed for the next three decades.

Ms. Amanpour appears to interview a wide range of people, Muslim and non-Muslim, but this is somewhat illusory. She interviews a fair number of Muslims and a couple of non-Muslims, primarily Alan Craig, a Christian city councillor opposed to the football stadium-size "mega-mosque" being planned for East London. (To him she says: A lot of this sounds like, I'm sorry to say, white middle class fear, and anger, of Muslims right now.")

What she doesn't do is interview other British immigrants about the Muslim situation. Indians, say. There are a lot of them in Britain, and I suspect they would be quite articulate on the subject. Or Chinese. Or Russians. Or West Indians. Or — you name it. All these people are kept in the background, part of Britain's "rich multicultural fabric," to be heard from on a more convenient occasion. Instead, the equation becomes either British whites versus British Muslims, or radical Muslims versus moderate Muslims, with white people looking on. Consciously or not, the effect is misleading and subtly racist — against white Britons.

This will no doubt stand out as a classic by mainstream media standards-which is sad, considering only a fraction of the true story will seep out.

More than most people, Ms. Amanpour should get it. From the little that I know of her personal history, she and her family were refugees from the Iranian revolution. Yet, since I first noticed her on CNN, she seems to specialize in going to Muslim areas of conflict, painting the Muslims as victims, and demanding that the West do something about it. Reporting from the West, her stories often portray Muslims as victims of the West. Too many times, she seems to be preaching sermons at ignorant bigots who live behind the CNN cameras. No thanks; I won't be watching her latest special.

I got talking to a British Hindu in a European capital and he told me that he had gone to a Curry house run by Muslims who had made a throat cutting motion at him when he had complained over the poor quality of the food. It is not just Middle Class 'White'Brits that are concerned, stupid bloody woman.

Racist cow, just because I am a white person obviously means that I can not have a view or express concern.

The effect is for sure "Conscious" . I have been observing CNN Europe the last decade and it has become a propoganda mouth-piece for the Eurabia block - even the articles that it decides to show are designed to give the impression that the ME countries are somehow part of Europe and any dissent is racist by white supremasists.
They are part of the problem and the subject of this show - which they have avoided for years now is not being looked at honestly - they start with the conclussion and end up with the result that they want i.e. the only problem is with "white middle aged" people - they are doing everything they can to keep us in our slumber so the Uhmma can slowly take our country - also they are now financed mostly by arab money - check out the adverts - I mean why are they advertising Arab telecoms companies in Europe - F*** absurd but someone is playing a BIG game here - either that or I am paranoid -heheheheheheheheh

Racism against white in Britain? You bet. Try living here for a while. It is perfectly acceptable in this country to be told you are racist "like all white people" even though this statement is extremely racist in itself. We live in a society where the race card is played in all situations, usually for financial or political gain. We have quotas on our Police and Fire service which says that 25% percent of the jobs must be given to people based on colour irrespective of ability.

Surely we should live in a world where people are judged for their ability irrespective of colour?

"We have quotas on our Police and Fire service which says that 25% percent of the jobs must be given to people based on colour irrespective of ability"

....If you are a person of colour, why study in school, you know you will be hired at the same pay as the bloke who studies....and probably get the job ahead of him....In many cities in America, the Police and Fire service have two tests ...one for minorities and one for whites....venture to guess which one is the easy test....

....In France, just as absurd...Employers cannot fire young people (as if an employer would be so foolish to hire a young person with rules like this)....

Sarge

You and other Americans seem to be under the illusion that Britain is a free country. It isn't. It almost was, once, within even my memory - but go take a look at it now:

http://www.magnacartaplus.org/civil-liberties/attacks.htm

Take ten minutes to read it, and if you have a couple of hours at a later time, follow and read the links within it too.

Most of this is because they are ideologically not permitted to recognise that Islam is the enemy, and target it, so they take Liberty away from everyone.

I can't think for a minute why Americans think Blair is a defender of Liberty. You Americans wouldn't tolerate him for five minutes ... but then, you have the first and second amendments to the Constitution. We don't even have a constitution worthy of the name. And what the EU calls a constitution is nothing of the sort.

After reading that, take a look at the state of play regarding Liberty across the whole of Europe. We here are in deep doo doo.

http://www.statewatch.org/news/2005/dec/09unaccountable-europe.htm

You'd best keep a very close eye on your own big boys. If the big boys of Britain and Europe get away with it, how long before your own big boys start down the same track ... yes, I know: they already have started.

Fort up.

So it will air tonight?

I wonder if the show Mr. Bernhard's review is of the same show featuring Christine Amanapour I saw previewed last evening. She was interviewing some imam who was trying to defend his position on killing kaffirs because moslems are being killed in the ME. She looked absolutely horrified at everything that was comming out of his mouth.

Ms. Amanapours quote of "A lot of this sounds like, I'm sorry to say, white middle class fear, and anger, of Muslims right now." is offset by this imam bellowing in the faces of Brit Catholics to renounce the Pope. I think this program will be educational, and I hope moreso for anyone who labors under the ROP delusion. I can't wait to see it all.

Shakey - I saw that same preview. They could have had Pee-wee Herman interviewing the imam, and the hate and venom would still have come throught loud and clear. If the rest of the show is anything at all like the preview segment, we win big-time in spite of MS. Amanpour's best efforts to mau-mau the dhimmis.

Christine Amanpour, despite her family background, has no real experience or knowledge of Islam. Herself secular, and married (in a mariage blanc) to James Rubin, she is confused about Islam. She knows Iranian Muslims who are nothing like the Iranian Muslims now in power, but fails to recognize that those she knows were never the real thing, were unrepresentative, as unrepresentative of Islam as was, say, Maxim Litvinov of the Soviet regime, even though he served that regime as Foreign Minister and as ambassador. She is defensive about Islam without knowing about it, and without knowing how the prmitive Muslim masses, which is what should count in Infidel calculations, and not the suave and often deceptive exceptions, whether they are Chalabi and other westernized Shi'a exiles inveigling the Americans into removing Saddam Hussein, or plummy-voiced Prince Hassan, a real performance artist, capable of impressing the impressionable.

Amanpour has never studied Islam, never quite grasped the significance of its texts -- after all, apparently her own parents were capable of ignoring large parts of them -- nor has she studied the history of Islamic conquest and subjugation of non-Muslims and destruction of non-Muslim cultures, although as someone of Iranian descent, she might well have bothered to do so. Her name gives her, for audiences, a false authenticity, and allow her to be endowed with an authority her level of knowledge does not actually entitle her to claim, or to have attributed to her.

Meanwhile, there is that CNN glory. There is that money. There is that celebritydom. There is that Washington wedding, attended by le tout Clinton administratoin, and that marriage of convenience, that mariage blanc.

MP, I look at this show as a possible awakening for the MSM. I cannot conceive how Ms. Amanapour or any of the crew can walk away from an interview like this without a major paradigm shift. I am hopeful. I see signs that the US media aren't buying the party line any longer.

Shakey - I agree. I'm happy to just let them have an open microphone. It reminds me of listening to kkk members or American nazis.By their fruits shall ye know them. The dangerous ones, as Hugh has pointed out, are the ones smart enough to lie.

I have plagiarized Daffersd comment, in order to make a point and show an emerging pattern

I got talking to a British Jew in a European city and he told me that he had been subjected to a campaign of anti-Semitic abuse by a younger Muslim college. The abuse was both of a personal i.e. hatred of Jews and political nature i.e. hatred of Israel. The person receiving the abuse eventually left their job suffering from stress and had a nervous breakdown as the management failed to act on the religious hatred. It was dismissed as Jokes and banter.

It is not just Middle Class 'White'Brits that are concerned, stupid bloody woman.

Racist cow, just because I am a white person obviously means that I can not have a view or express concern.

CNN waking up??!! HA! Never!! c'mon...get real... How much does anyone want to bet that the up-shot of the whole program will be to proving the case of British racism while portraying Muslims as the hapless victims of said discrimination.

In fact, I heard Ms Amanpour the other day (in a promo) lamenting the "Islamophobia" of Brits -- tch, tch, tch, Brits are just sooo racist, and the racism becomes especially evident when Muslims aren't even allowed to bomb the buses whenever and wherever they choose! O the audacity of those cruel, heartless, infidel Brits!

Anyway, the deal here is this -- CNN will attempt to lure in the unsuspecting -- in the promos CNN will pretend that this will be a REAL eye-opener, exposing "radical" islam -- but, then, by the end of the show, you'll come to understand that the REAL problem is with the Brits and their racism, not Muslims (remember -- Muslims are the solution, not the problem.) That will be CNN's contribution to the current propaganda war.

Most leftwing ideology nowadays IS anti-caucasian.

And I see absolutely NOTHING subtle about it in the least.

I mean, if it was a dog it would be biting all of our noses off...

There is already a pretty fair concensus that socialist-leftwing ideology is watered down Communism (as we see what has been going on in France and Germany for the past two generations or so); and, it is also well-known that Communism and Islam made common cause at least 30 years ago (notice Yasser Arafat was BOTH a card-carrying member of the KGB and was a recipient of the EU's Nobel Prize along with such "greats" as Harold Pinter).

So when, Islamic leaders target caucasian people for extermination (which I have been repeatedly told IS the case) it is not surprising that leftist media will be biased againstwhite folk (and it IS). Because as stated, leftism in the western democracies takes its marching orders from the Kremlin and Mecca.

ps-According to some material I have read, illegal immigrants into the United States are responsible for over 9000 homicides per year, maiming tens of thousands more (and the victims are either whites or US citizens) and helping themselves to funds earmarked for US citizens. I bring this up because as far as I can tell, it is all cut out of the same cloth (jihad).

I stand corrected. Here is an article on CNN about the show. http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/europe/01/17/warwithin.amanpour/index.html

The preview reeled me in with hope that the palpable hatred spewing from Choudry would help enlighten the ROP element. The article deliveres a sucker-punch from the 'moderates' claiming hijack.

Sheez, I should have known better!

Don't worry Shakypremise, everyone and anyone who's followed the MSM gets taken-in -- it's just a matter of time, though before people start to see through them...hopefully...
