Detained Iranians tied to Revolutionary Guards: US official

Speaking of "adventurism" in northern Iraq... From AFP:

WASHINGTON, Jan 12, 2007 (AFP) - A group of Iranians detained by US forces in Iraq in a new effort to counter Tehran's alleged support for violent attacks had links to Iran's Revolutionary Guards, a senior US official said Friday.
Six Iranians were nabbed in a night-time swoop by US forces on an office in the northern Iraq city of Arbil early Thursday, prompting protests from Iran and strong criticism from other governments.
State Department deputy spokesman Tom Casey said the Arbil office was targeted "because there was information that we had that the individuals there were associated with attacks against multinational forces, against Iraqi forces," he said.
"Certainly there's also been information linking this facility to Revolutionary Guard and other Iranian elements ... that are fomenting violence" in Iraq, he said.
"The claim that this was somehow an innocent diplomatic facility seems to ring hollow in light of that," he said.
Casey confirmed that one of the six people detained had been released and the other five were still in custody of US forces, who are continuing to investigate the incident.
Iran protested the raid on the Arbil office to the US government via its interest section in the Swiss embassy in Washington, Casey said.
Earlier Friday State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said none of the detained Iranians held diplomatic passports and that the Arbil office had no diplomatic status.
"It was a building that the Iranians were using, occupying, it was Iraqi territory," he said.
In Baghdad the office was described as an Iranian liaison office.

Gotta love the (irony deprived) Iranian outrage over their diplomats being seized by the USA. If those punks feel lucky there's a new US carrier group for them to take pot shots at. One false move Ayatollahs!! Upcoming game plan is (70% probable) is Israel using tactical nukes on Iran's weapons program with us providing backup just in case the Ayatollahs object to these surgical strikes. China and Russia will line up behind Iran but won't move because it's one Mid Eastern regional power wacking another

that is most likely why you hear the bleating of other clerics distancing themselves from the little monkey man from iran. they fear Bush will be use his words that iran will not have nuclear warheads or the capabliltyl these clerics have allowed the little monkey from iran all his words of hate towards ending Israel and the US, now they will eat them.

Arithmatic Lesson:

Revolutionary Guard soldier + Out of Uniform + Plotting the overthrough of a standing government =
SPY

Spy + War Iran has carried on against America since 1979 = EXECUTION

Execute the Iranians to send them a message.

Prof. Lame Cherry,

Your mathematical formula is excellent! I couldn't agree more! Time for six more muslim roaches to join Mohammed in hell. Let us not forget to cover them in pigs' blood first! :)

Why does the Left never seem to see the same things Rational people see, nariz?

We've been pointing to Iran for months: no one on the Left wants to see it.

Now that we have the Living Proof in our hands: everyone on the Left wants to blame us for 'expanding' the war.

We didn't start this war. Nor have we expanded it. Nor is it for Oil.

So much for the "Let's talk and negotiate with the Iranians and the Syrians over the future of Iraq". I guess we really do believe that the Iranians are trying to destablilize Iraq. There's a news flash.

I hope Representative Ellison and new Speaker Pellosi speak out against the gross violation of the Iranian citizens' rights and demand that a writ of Habeus Corpus be filed immediately, so these innocent Iranians oppressed by the administration can be released post haste.

Re: Appearances are everything, Nancy Pellosi has just been recognized on Blackwell's Best Dressed List. Congratulations to the Speaker.

I wonder what we will do if they kidnap one of our soldier or a citizen, will we cave in or will we Israelize them?

Keep a pen handy and record the names of our politicians who demand or will support their release. I haven’t seen it yet but I expect I will soon.

dennisw, I love your comments at the head of this string.

If the USA played by the rulebook of Iran's own civilization, the USA would've marched through the country after giving each soldier the order to forget about drawing rations until he had dropped twenty-four Muslim heads on a pile. Today, we'd have an Iran so heavily depopulated that all of its endangered species would be on the comeback list.

Lame Cherry: You forgot something about the proposed execution of Iranian agents: be sure each one is dipped in and forced to swallow pork fat before getting the 9mm cerebral hemorrhage.

Screw the oil - lets do it for the cavier!

Cuban cigars are next!

The will of natural law and a free united Iraq is a stronger will then of the will of militant groups. Compromise or separation may only lead to national dissolution and anarchy. Peace will come after the absolute suppression of militants, jihadists, and other criminals, by force.

Macaulay on Milton:

"There is only one cure for the evils which newly-acquired freedom produces, and that cure is freedom. When a prisoner first leaves his cell he can not bear the light of day; he is unable to discriminate colors or recognize faces. But the remedy is not to remand him into his dungeon, but to accustom him to the rays of the sun. The blaze of truth and liberty may at first dazzle and bewilder nations which have become half blind in the house of bondage. But let them gaze on, and they will soon be able to bear it. In a few years men learn to reason. The extreme violence of opinion subsides. Hostile theories correct each other. The scattered elements of truth cease to contend, and begin to coalesce. And at length a system of justice and order is educed out of the chaos.
"Many politicians of our time are in the habit of laying it down as a self-evident proposition that no people ought to be free until they are fit to use their freedom. The maxim is worthy of the fool in the old story who resolved not to go into the water until he had learned to swim. If men are to wait for liberty until they become wise and good in slavery, they may wait forever.
"Therefore, it is that we decidedly approve of the conduct of Milton, and all other wise and good men, who, in spite of much that was ridiculous and hateful in the conduct of their associates, stood firmly by the cause of Public Liberty."

Tic Toc Tic Toc , from all of the talking heads i've heard the past 1-2 months ,i think the the bell is about to ring and may the best carrier group win!!!

The claim that this was somehow an innocent diplomatic facility seems to ring hollow in light of that," he said.

A nation that has self-stated intention to destroy a neighboring country, a nation with a track record for violence in embassies, has forfeited its right to diplomatic immunity.

Hell, even Iran's leader is a known displomat kidnapper.

Iraqi organization claims responsibility for Moldovan plane crash
By Cihan News Agency

Speculations continue about the cause of the Moldovan plane crash near Baghdad on Jan. 9. Up to now, officials have withheld citing a cause as the black box has not yet been recovered from the wreckage. Meanwhile, an intriguing statement claiming responsibility for the crash came from a militant organization in Iraq.

In statements published on their web site, the Islamic Army in Iraq (IAI) claimed that they shot down the Moldovan plane on Jan.9. The plane in question was carrying Turkish construction workers and was reported to have crashed near Baghdad while trying to land in heavy fog.

The report on the web site claims that the militants shot down a plane attempting to land at the American base in Balad. After opening fire, the plane was reported to have crashed.

I agree with the previous comments on the irony that the Islamofascist Republic of Iran is now squealing so loudly about the detention of its so-called diplomats. As non-uniformed enemy combatants, they fall outside the remit of the Geneva convention, and should be transported to Guantanomo Camp forthwith.

The timing of this event will certainly help shelf the egregiously stupid ISG report advocating bringing Iran and Syria in as "partners for peace".

I'd just like to know why our military captures them and doesn't kill them ? Obviously, they're illegal and justice should've been carried out immediately. That sends a better message to Iran then sending the idiots back home ?
