Keith Ellison has been named to the House Judiciary Committee, a panel that has oversight over issues such as civil liberties, immigration and courts...."I look forward to pursuing a progressive agenda in the committee, including the restoration of American citizen's civil liberties that have come under increasing attack over the past six years," said Ellison, the first Muslim member of Congress.
Ellison, a freshman lawmaker, said this week he'd like to see a ban on racial profiling, an issue that could come up in the Judiciary Committee.

As if the US hasn't suffered enough from it in the last century. No doubt the only real beneficiaries will be the peaceful ones and their lapdog apologists.
Let him dare to raise the issue of "racial profiling" and then bring to the hearing pictures of John Walker Lindh, and Yvonne Ridley, and Jose Padilla, and others. Cross-question him about the difference between a "race" and an "ideology." Ask him what he makes of certain passages in the Qur'an and stories in the Hadith. Ask where he thinks Islam locates political legitimacy. Ask him what he thinks of the reasons why no Muslim state has endorsed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (well, Iran under the Shah did, but that endorsement is long gone), and why instead the Muslim states carefully composed a completely different Muslim version and attempted to pass that one off as essentially the same thing.
Above all, keep asking him questions that relate to Darfur, and to Islam as a vehicle for Arab imperialism. Keep asking him -- all those who interview him -- about slavery which is part of Islam, legitimized by the Qur'an and Hadith, and therefore can never be done away with, even if, under Western pressure (there never was and never could be a Muslim Wilberforce), the slave trade, and slavery, were in most, but not all, Muslim places, stamped out.
Ask him what he intends to do about the Arab enslavement of blacks in Sudan, Mauritania, and about slavery of all kinds of people, the domestic "servants" treated as sex slaves, behind the high guarded walls of those fabulous palaces in Saudi Arabia.
Ask him what he thinks about "social justice" in Islam. Ask him what he makes of the distribution of wealth both within Muslim countries (as, say, Saudi Arabia, or Egypt, or Jordan, or Morocco, or Iran) and among Muslim countries (the fabulous unearned wealth of nearly a dozen, and the poverty of the others, relieved by the foreign aid not of fellow Muslims, but of Infidels).
Ask him, ask him, ask him. Make him show the inconsistencies in his dreamy view of Islam, force him to admit or force him to lie. It doesn't matter.
Don't let up for an instant on Keith Ellison.

Of course you're you right. Ellison, and all Muslim, appoligists should be asked some hard questions, But don't hold your breath. You see them on talk shows all the time. They're treated with kid gloves. No one ask' them a really difficult question. They're allowed to get away with the usual mantra, "Let there be no compulsion in relegion", and that's the end of that.
Besides, anyone confronting Ellison with really hard questions about his dysfunctional religion, is going to be labeled a "bigot" and every politician in Washington will jump on the bandwagon.
What will be interesting -- if not obscene -- will be to watch Ellison question some potential Supreme court nominee about his committment to civil rights.
I was the first one at another blog site yesterday who had caught the irony in Mr. Ellison's remarks that the Qur'an had an impact on the thinking of the Founding Fathers. He was indeed correct about that. Mr. Jefferson first read the Qur'an before he took action on the Barbary pirates' issue. Forthwith, he stopped the payment of the jizya, and dispatched the U.S. Navy and Marines to the Mediterranean. Either Mr. Ellison is incredibly stupid or he is engaging in that time-honored practice of taqiyya. Has no one else caught the irony in this? I would have expected to hear comment from that history professor Newt Gingrich, taking Mr. Ellison to task for a major faux pas.

I try not to take up too much of Robert's bandwidth, but I'll post it here. Hope you don't mind, RS; and I intend to keep corresponding with both of my senators and my congressman on this issue:

Dear Senator Feinstein,
After reading your most recent letter to me, I feel that you do not fully understand my concerns about Islam in America.
The Qur’an is not historical. It is uncreated and the immutable word of God—the same God of Judaism and Christianity—to Muslims. Its verses cannot be consigned to history. But many verses were abrogated; superseded by later ones. All those verses of peace and tolerance quoted all the time to Americans? Not valid. Gone. All cancelled by the Verse of the Sword (9:5) and other Jihad verses of the later Qur’an.
It’s an ongoing deceit.
To put the issue in context, here’s but one example of basic Islamic doctrine which has not been abrogated:
In chapter 5, verse 38, (Sura 5:38) God said:
“As to the thief, male or female, cut off his or her hands: a punishment by way of example, from Allah, for their crime: and Allah is exalted in power.”
There is no ambiguity in that passage. It is straightforward and includes no caveat exempting one Muslim or another from believing it. In their quest to establish ‘a pure Islamic state’, the Taliban complied with it—as do our ‘good friends’ in Saudi Arabia (a huge nation whose Constitution is founded upon Shari’a law). The Qur’an sent to me by The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) makes no attempt to disguise it; delineating, rather, the conditions in which a pickpocket’s hands may be amputated today: in the 21st century; in accordance with God’s eternal command.
At the request of the U.S. Department of State, the Colorado Attorney General recently met with King Abdullah, in Saudi Arabia, to answer, among several questions, how a Muslim woman’s testimony, in an American court, could equal that of a Muslim man.
Non-Muslims around the world were shocked when Afghan Muslims demanded Abdul Rahman’s death for apostasy last spring. But why were they? After all, Islamic Law is the cornerstone of that nation’s Constitution, too.
As it is in Iraq; and Iran.
Hamid Hyat, formerly of Lodi, is but one of many American born Muslims arrested since 9/11 for plotting or carrying out terrorist activities in the name of Islam.
Do those examples really represent the beliefs and activities of a ‘very small minority’ of the world’s Muslim population? Or do they represent Islam as Muhammad intended it?
When Congressman Ellison, a Muslim in a land of unbelievers, became a Minnesota legislator, he violated a key tenet of timeless Islamic dogma; God himself prohibits Muslims from legislating laws which permit what He and Muhammad have prohibited—like homosexuality and abortion. Recently pledging to ‘uphold and defend the United States Constitution’ with one hand on a Qur’an (if only ceremoniously) merely continues his long history of personal hypocrisy.
Some will argue that similar concerns about Catholicism arose during John F. Kennedy’s presidential campaign; forgetting that he publicly and honestly addressed those issues.
Man made laws prohibiting the ‘free exercise’ of religious beliefs, such as polygamy, would be unthinkable in Muslim nations; where God’s law has been the law for more than a thousand years. Despite God’s assertion, a Muslim woman’s testimony is equal to that of a man here. While assuming that most American Muslims are not involved in religiously motivated terrorism, we know that some are. And while most Americans don’t know much about Islam, Keith Ellison does.
And, so do I.
There is no ‘American’ version of Islam. The Qur’an reads the same in Kandahar as it does in Kansas City; including sura 5:38. What should ‘moderate’ American Muslim do? Deny God’s word and apostate themselves? Or tell us that such passages don’t exist in their copy of the Qur’an? Or continually parrot the following line concerning their fundamentalist brethren: ‘They may be Muslims, but their behavior is un-Islamic!”
Islam is not just another religion. It is a complete way of life; an ancient totalitarian system, frozen in time, for a culture where governance and religion are one and the same; In that regard, the essence of the United States Constitution and Islam—the faith of ‘an entire group of peaceful and loyal American citizens’—are diametrically opposed. That most of the world’s Muslims are not in full compliance with every aspect of their faith is irrelevant, so long as other Muslims strive to be.
And Americans must not leave unchallenged, for purposes of diversity or tolerance or timidity or any other reason, a belief system in which the amputation of a thief’s hands, and other odious injunctions, are enshrined in its teachings.
Reality and the notion of a peaceful Islam just don’t jibe. Please, if you want to know what Islam really teaches, don’t ask a ‘moderate’ Muslim Ask a fundamentalist.

By the way a little over a month ago I emailed my congressman, James Langevin, I asked him about where he stood on Nancy Pelosi's promise to "correct" the patriot act and his view on Conyers H RES 288. He actually replied but only to the patriot act. So I emailled him back about the resolution I let hin know what I thought about it being unconstitutional. I am still waiting for his answer.
Oh yeah...John Conyers and Keith X. This is going to be fun, and interesting, to watch. What will be even more fun is to listen to the reactions of their fellow politicians of both parties as these two put both feet in their mouths on a regular basis.

Article 3
(a) In the event of the use of force and in case of armed conflict, it is not permissible to kill non-belligerents such as old men, women and children. The wounded and the sick shall have the right to medical treatment; and prisoners of war shall have the right to be fed, sheltered and clothed. It is prohibited to mutilate dead bodies. Article 4

Article 8

Article 9
(a) The quest for knowledge is an obligation, and the provision of education is a duty for society and the State. The State shall ensure the availability of ways and means to acquire education and shall guarantee educational diversity in the interest of society so as to enable man to be acquainted with the religion of Islam and the facts of the Universe for the benefit of mankind.
(b) Every human being has the right to receive both religious and worldly education from the various institutions of education and guidance, including the family, the school, the university, the media, etc., and in such an integrated and balanced manner as to develop his personality, strengthen his faith in God and promote his respect for and defence of both rights and obligations.
Article 10
Islam is the religion of unspoiled nature. It is prohibited to exercise any form of compulsion on man or to exploit his poverty or ignorance in order to convert him to another religion or to atheism.
Article 11
(a) Human beings are born free, and no one has the right to enslave, humiliate, oppress or exploit them, and there can be no subjugation but to God the Most-High.
(b) Colonialism of all types being one of the most evil forms of enslavement is totally prohibited. Peoples suffering from colonialism have the full right to freedom and self-determination. It is the duty of all States and peoples to support the struggle of colonized peoples for the liquidation of all forms of colonialism and occupation, and all States and peoples have the right to preserve their independent identity and exercise control over their wealth and natural resources.
Article 12
Every man shall have the right, within the framework of Shari’ah, to free movement and to select his place of residence whether inside or outside his country and, if persecuted, is entitled to seek asylum in another country. The country of refuge shall ensure his protection until he reaches safety, unless asylum is motivated by an act which Shari’ah regards as a crime.
Article 13
Work is a right guaranteed by the State and Society for each person able to work. Everyone shall be free to choose the work that suits him best and which serves his interests and those of society. The employee shall have the right to safety and security as well as to all other social guarantees. He may neither be assigned work beyond his capacity nor be subjected to compulsion or exploited or harmed in any way. He shall be entitled — without any discrimination between males and females — to fair wages for his work without delay, as well as to the holidays, allowances and promotions which he deserves. For his part, he shall be required to be dedicated and meticulous in his work. Should workers and employers disagree on any matter, the State shall intervene to settle the dispute and have the grievances redressed, the rights confirmed and justice enforced without bias.
Article 14
Everyone shall have the right to legitimate gains without monopolization, deceit or harm to oneself or to others. Usury (riba) is absolutely prohibited.
Article 15
(a) Everyone shall have the right to own property acquired in a legitimate way, and shall be entitled to the rights of ownership, without prejudice to oneself, others or to society in general. Expropriation is not permissible except for the requirements of public interest and upon payment of immediate and fair compensation
(b) Confiscation and seizure of property is prohibited except for a necessity dictated by law.
Article 16

Article 17
(a) Everyone shall have the right to live in a clean environment, away from vice and moral corruption, an environment that would foster his self-development; and it is incumbent upon the State and society in general to afford that right.
(b) Everyone shall have the right to medical and social care, and to all public amenities provided by society and the State within the limits of their available resources.

Article 18
(a) Everyone shall have the right to live in security for himself, his religion, his dependents, his honour and his property.

Article 19
(a) All individuals are equal before the law, without distinction between the ruler and the ruled.

(c) Liability is in essence personal.
(d) There shall be no crime or punishment except as provided for in the Shari’ah.

Article 20
It is not permitted without legitimate reason to arrest an individual, or restrict his freedom, to exile or to punish him. It is not permitted to subject him to physical or psychological torture or to any form of humiliation, cruelty or indignity. Nor is it permitted to subject an individual to medical or scientific experimentation without his consent or at the risk of his health or of his life. Nor is it permitted to promulgate emergency laws that would provide executive authority for such actions.
Article 21
Taking hostages under any form or for any purpose is expressly forbidden.
Article 22
(a) Everyone shall have the right to express his opinion freely in such manner as would not be contrary to the principles of the Shari’ah.
(b) Everyone shall have the right to advocate what is right, and propagate what is good, and warn against what is wrong and evil according to the norms of Islamic Shari’ah.

I took a look at previous racial/religious profiling laws which didn't make it to vote. All the bills require that police start to collect detailed information (like religious identification or country of origin) on stops and arrests, which isn't obtained now. I believe that this would be kept in huge federal databases, to identify areas that "profile."
I wonder if Muslims realize that this type of bill could really backfire on them. Currently, we have no idea what Muslim crime is, except in high profile cases reported in MSM. Muslims may be categorized as "white" or "black," so they just "blend into" overall offenders.
And, the myth of Islam as the "religion of peace" continues. . .
I would welcome information like religion and country of birth collected, reported and available for analysis (as are most unclassified federal databases). Let the myths be subjected to the light.

Kaufman's problem is one of delivery. Keep Cool With Coolidge should be the motto. Calm. Appealing rationally to the audience. But an immovable and implacable force, ready with facts, facts, facts, and the odd appealing metaphor. Whenever necessary, icy. Always the possibility of the frozen tundra.

Agreed 100%. I am just unsure however, if it is Mr. Ellison or us that is ultimately being set up. I am hopeful it is the former.
OT
Bush used the phrase "radical Islam" tonight about three times. While personally no fan of the man, the limited use of any reference to Islam is far better than the obligatory "war on terror" statement we have heard far too much of recently.
Change, real change, not the flavor of the week, Hollywood mentality change, is slow. The turtle is a testament that slow and steady does indeed win the race. Deliberately and consistently plodding forward, step by well calculated step. See and hear it for yourselves in the MSM we have all grown to rightfully distrust.

I can't even listen to Prager anymore cuz he insists there is a Moderate Islam, a stupid subintellectual dangerous position that does not square with the real world from today all the way back to 624 AD.
Prager, like the blog writer to whom you referred me, the "radical Republicans" and virutually everybody else (MSM, academics, et al) studiously avoid going to the base facts of the issue. It's always one claim against another's.
Deconstructionism prevails alongside Marxism so much now that even an objectivist like Prager can't see the reality and gravity of the situation.
The list of those who scrape their fingers across the surface, fearing the monsters below, would and does include nearly every non-Moslem on Earth.
This is the quandary. Only a sudden mainline injection of reality into our collective arm vein can dose us back from the edge. At this late date, maybe a little electroshock will be needed too.

Agreed about Prager. Unfortunately, he sounds alot like Glenn Beck, another potential breadwinning thoroughbred that I previously had some stock in. Both are paralyzed by the same "sub-intellectual dangerous position" that you speak of.
In my "real" world, "moderate Islam" is equivocal to "a little bit pregnant."
This is amazing! I can't wait to see the next Supreme court nominee being questioned by the Democrats about his commitment to Civil and human rights -- and all the while Muslim Democrat, Keith Ellison, sitting there passing judgement on the suitablity of a nominee to sit on the highest court in our land.
I just hope that every person nominated by the President to sit on the court refuses the nomination, based on their personal disgust at having to be questioned by a man whose religious beliefs are anathema to everything they they believe in as Americans.
They*'ve let a hyena into the house. There will be a price to pay.

I have exactly the same problem when I try to explain to people what is really going on and what sort of enemy we're fighting.
A lot of people are still terribly afraid of the truth, perhaps understandably. The truth is that we will spend the rest of our lives fighting the imposition of islamic totalitarianism on this planet. Until we destroy the ideology at the heart of it (as expounded in the Koran, Sunna, Hadith) it will be like fighting the ancient greek monster called the Hydra: when one of its heads was cut off, two more grew in its place.
This is why Robert's book The Truth about Mohammed is so important because it takes on the ideology that so many millions follow so slavishly.

I caught the Kaufman/Iftikhar/Asmun interview, too, and wrote a polite thank you to Kaufman (with an equally polite suggestion concerning presentation).
It's the first time that I've seen a CAIR rep put in that spot.
I thought Iftikhar's head was going to explode; and I'm sure the Hoopercrite probably beat the Hell of him for public stupidity.

It is my understanding that the Israeli security apparatus doesn't "racially" profile, they profile conduct and thus are able to bag the ISM/PSM's various "non-violent" aiders and abbetors who tend to be of European extraction and "visitors" from western Europe and North America as well as being able to bag the bomb-carriers.
If the west was to adopt Israel's techinique of profiling for conduct, they might be able to avoid the supposed racism involved in, say, hauling six non-white imams off of a plain for their suspicious behaviour (which really was the case) and not because they were Arabs.
at least ellison was not placed on the Armed Services Committee.........

If the Qu'ran says this...then why is this happening??? Or send his photos of people burned and hanging from bridges,or beheaded,stoned,tortured,executed,or maimed by the Peaceful Religion of Islam.
