Former "moderate" Cleveland imam deported

Fawaz Damra, the Cleveland imam who signed the Fiqh Council of North America's 2005 condemnation of terrorism, has finally been deported. He won't be missed.

"Damra deported to West Bank," by Mike Tobin for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, with thanks to Broon:

Fawaz Damra, the longtime local imam convicted of lying about his links to terrorist groups, was deported to the West Bank Thursday morning, immigration officials said.

"It happened Thursday morning about 4 or 5 a.m.," said Tim Counts, a spokesman for the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. "He was flown into Jordan and from there crossed the bridge into the Palenstinian Territories."

Damra had been locked up in a Michigan jail for more than year as immigration officials searched for a country willing to take Damra.

The former spiritual leader of the Islamic Center of Cleveland agreed to be deported after a trial and conviction where he was linked to terrorist groups.

Damra, 46, was born in the West Bank and came to the United States in the 1980s. In 2004, he was convicted of lying on his citizenship application because he did not disclose links to terrorist organizations. He served two months in prison and two months of house arrest and was stripped of his citizenship.

One down.

... and thousands to go.

Hmmmmm, deporting an Islamist with terrorist ties from a country with no border control and a wide- open immigration policy.

Are we to assume this person will just snap his fingers in disgust and wander-off into the Palestinian masses?

Let's take bets on what his new "name" will be when he returns.

Abu Jihad?

Not bad, but I am leaning towards Mohamed being thrown in there somewhere.

I think that an Imam who preaches terrorist violence (as we have here in Canada, the only difference is that they are NEVER deported, let alone arrested), and then one of the followers comes back in a body bag (having gone on "jihad") -- well, I think the Imam is an accomplice to murder, and should be charged and the charges should allow the possibility of a death sentence. Enough of these bums running around inflaming others to go out and commit murder, and then, literally nothing happens to the inciters.

Deported is that all. After 9-11 it is like a slap on the wrist.. He should have been at least jailed for life, in a maximum security cell, and let out l hour a day for exercise.. in fact this is the treatment all terrorists and sponsors of terrorism should get.

Nay, on second thought since terrorists take lives, then all who support them should forfeit theirs...like Saddam.

The Saddam treatment for terrorists and their sponsors.

Stripping of their citizenship and deportation (including their family members') ought to be the standard for cases such as these.

Agreed. Deportation, especially in the U.S., is akin to sending an insolent child to their room with their cellphone. When they return, it will be with additional support and sympathy from others sharing in their cause.

Imam Fawaz Damra is an egg on dumb dubya 'Saudi's favourite Slave' Bush and Abidi Condi!

Sorry if I sound upset at White House and Slave Department.... well I am!

millions, millions to go

I am OUTRAGED by this moderate muslim holy man's activities in my nation!
I call for massive protests -and if they must be - violent ones. I call on all to bang their heads against the nearest wall!
I demand that c.a.i.r. (for islam only) on behalf of islam - apologizes to all non-muslims!!!!

Damra had been locked up in a Michigan jail for more than year as immigration officials searched for a country willing to take Damra.

These poor beleagured "immigration officials" need a default, somewhere to turn when confronted with such a scumbag.

Send these Moslem activists who nobody wants down here to my swine farm in south central Kaintuck.

We'll take care of them, southern hospitality style.

Round em up, Head em out, Move em on… Rawhide! YEEEHAAA

Keep pushing south to Columbus and get rid of these C.A.I.R. idiots too!!!!!!!

This imam and all other Muslims who are found to have links to terrorism organizations can and should be considered for the death penalty.

Terrorism is a fancy word for mass murder. Accessory to mass murder could conceivably carry a death sentence in this country. So why should an imam get special treatment if he is guilty of this crime?? (And having links to terrorism is tantamount to being a terrorist anyway).

Mere deportation from this country does NOT ensure justice will be done in this imam's case and it will not ensure that he and other people like him will not return to America under an alias. So, yes, this man could conceivably return to terrorize America a second time posing as someone else.

The death penalty WILL prevent this imam from being an accomplice to terrorism (mass murder in plainspeak) again if nothing else does.

Hanging...now that's a novel idea!

Authorities relent after 2-day protest by crowd of 200 women, children

The 200-strong group has ended a protest in Kapho district after provincial officials agreed to bail a man suspected of murder and insurgent attacks.

Unbelievable but true

And for those inclined toward 'diversity' as your highest value, you will, no doubt, want to view and experience the website of Our soon-to-be-deported criminal client as a living, breathing, human being with family, dreams, and a life story worth listening to and respecting. After all, there is no price that a jihadi, I mean defendant, can pay that will reflect the value of strong community support in mitigating the punishing power of criminal deportation.

Damnya and good riddance Fawaz!

"Damra had been locked up in a Michigan jail for more than year as immigration officials searched for a country willing to take Damra."

...just put a parachute on him and dump him in any of a dozen Muslim dominated countries.

Lets start taking back the world.

One small step for mankind, many, many, more to go.

From the article:
Damra had been locked up in a Michigan jail for more than year as immigration officials searched for a country willing to take Damra.
_____

yeah I'm willing to bet that that Michigan jail was hella better than the West Bank of 'Palestine' will be.
*snort*
I'm also betting is he's shaking and quaking in his boots, cause, oh dear, how WILL he get on without all the luxuries of the infidel?

yeah, this 'America' thing ain't all too bad now, huh?

Decent start.

Now we have 4 million more to go back to their ancestral, muslim homelands.
They are so miserable here so do the obvious thing and get out if you hate America with such passion.
Every door swings 2 ways.

PS They all need to leave their LINK, Medicaid, and foodstamps at the door as they leave.

Utter vermin.

Golly, JW, you have some good news here today!

Now he can plan and execute the murder of Israelis!

He is now presented with the opportunity to continue the Jihad against Israel directly...lets see how they deal with him.

How many Nazi were deported? Didn't they put them in prison when they were the big fish? Sending him to the West Bank to terrorized Jews is a horrid solution...unless Netanyahu is going to be elected leader and the IDF is going to solve this problem over there the old fashioned way.

I read on his website that "he is a peacful man. And that he has been spreading the word of Islam". Well which is it? Peaceful or spreading Islam? Can't have it both ways.

i agree with sounder, nice see some good news. deportation is only a small step, but it is one in the right direction.
deportation will not stop these guys, but it helps, by making their lives difficult and interfering with their plans.

"Now he can plan and execute the murder of Israelis!"

....At least the Israelis are shooting the ones who show up causing trouble..... HERE in the US we are still just beating a lot of dead horses...

send his family and friend back to cesspoolstan as well. they are infected with islam.

Northeast Ohio is smelling better already without this good for nothing Islamic fanatic around.

In 2004, he was convicted of lying on his citizenship application because he did not disclose links to terrorist organizations. (*-

Wait a moment! We could deport 99% Muslims like that. They all lie on their application about links to terrorist organizations. Aren't they suppose to donate about 10% of their earnings to Islamic charity ? Islamic Charities ..lol

exsgtbrown,

forget the parachute

Apparently the family is now trying to say that they have not heard from him since he was deported. This could be a very wise act to try to act like victims and blame our government.

DETROIT Friends and family of a prominent Ohio Muslim leader who deported to his native Palestinian territories say he has disappeared.
The U-S government reported taking Fawaz Damra (FAH-wahz DAHM-rah) to the West Bank.

But his friends in Cleveland say no one has heard from Damra since he left.

They're worried that he was detained by Israeli authorities on his way to Palestinian territories.

His friends are planning a news conference this week in Ohio to encourage authorities to find him.

Damra was convicted in 2004 of lying about his ties to Palestinian Islamic Jihad, which the State Department labeled as terrorist. He had been held in Monroe, Michigan, since then.
