WASHINGTON — Iran is supporting both Sunni and Shiite terrorists in the Iraqi civil war, according to secret Iranian documents captured by Americans in Iraq.The news that American forces had captured Iranians in Iraq was widely reported last month, but less well known is that the Iranians were carrying documents that offered Americans insight into Iranian activities in Iraq.
An American intelligence official said the new material, which has been authenticated within the intelligence community, confirms "that Iran is working closely with both the Shiite militias and Sunni Jihadist groups." The source was careful to stress that the Iranian plans do not extend to cooperation with Baathist groups fighting the government in Baghdad, and said the documents rather show how the Quds Force — the arm of Iran's revolutionary guard that supports Shiite Hezbollah, Sunni Hamas, and Shiite death squads — is working with individuals affiliated with Al Qaeda in Iraq and Ansar al-Sunna.
Another American official who has seen the summaries of the reporting affiliated with the arrests said it comprised a "smoking gun." "We found plans for attacks, phone numbers affiliated with Sunni bad guys, a lot of things that filled in the blanks on what these guys are up to," the official said.

Folks, there is a favourable military solution to the Middle East muslim terror problem available to the west and the non-muslim world that has an expiration date - whenever it is Dar al Islam acquires a second strike nuclear capability against Dar al Harb. If the west continues to prop up and subsidize Islamic countries, that is a matter of decades at best, and it seems Bush and Blair are essentially betting the family farm that muslims "grow" out of that jihad thing by then. Since that jihad thing has been around for over a thousand years, those aren't good odds in my book.
If each state from Yugoslavia, to Russia, to India that lost people to muslim terror provides two divisions, and the US armed forces provide the shock troops and air support, they could level the entire Middle East in a few weeks and hang all the muslim terrorist sponsors from Amhmanut to the Syrian EyeDr.Evil to the House of Saud to Fatah and Hamas from the same tree, and distribute the oil between the coalition countries as terror reparations. If Dar al Islam uses the limited nuclear capabilities it has at this time, that would bring heavy, but not civilization ending casualties to the western world, followed by a muslim civilization ending nuclear response from the west. I would expect mass apostasy and real reform to take place when muslims saw Allah didn't deliver the booty but a butt kicking instead.
The alternative is western leaders in several decades wondering where all those "moderate" muslims suddenly disappeared to right after dar al Islam acquired a proficient enough of a nuclear arsenal to credibly be able to threaten to wipe out western civilization. Bush and Blair are mistaken that somehow they are doing the west and non-muslims a favor by avoiding a full scale military confrontation with Islam now, when at this time we could defeat them quite easily. Once Pakistan adds to its' nuclear arsenal, gets better missile delivery vehicles, puts them on quiet subs, even if Musharraf himself would still around by then, I think western leaders would notice quite a change in his demeanor....

The despotic and theocratic Iranian regime doesn't want a model state arising next door. That would bring even more attention to their pitiful economy. Iraq's improving economy, as it is, poses a threat to the Iranian regime. Ayatollahs don't want to see neighboring elected officials succeed: PoliSci 101.
The Persians in Iran have no love for, and little trust of the Arabs of Iraq. Sure, the Iranians support the Shia as a thorn in the side of the United States. As always there's the often-wrong assumption that Shia will never aid Sunnis or vice versa. They can always fall back on the division between believer and infidel in order to justify aiding the other sect, at least temporarily. If some of the arms the Iranians provide Sunnis are fired at Americans or other coalition troops, that's good enough. If Iran's primary goal is to weaken the United States, and it is, their best play is to cause as much trouble as they possibly can regardless of sectarian considerations. They actually get more bang (chaos, media coverage, domestic political problems in the US) for the buck when they play both sides. Due to Bush's idealistic/unrealistic plans, chaos favors the Iranians.

I got a little carried away there, but the point is, as everyone here knows, is as long as the west has the military advantage, it has the ability to take the Saudi oil for free if the Saudis won't sell it for a reasonable price, and so Bush and Blair should be able to translate that leverage into real muslim concessions, and not let the Saudis amd Musharraf worm their way out by claiming they have to placate the radicals.

They should be broadcasting these documented plans on MSM, but it won't happen. Have you ever noticed the wide eyed, giddy excitement demonstrated by the reporters on CNN, BBC, and others when the coalition body count rises. The reporters are quick to locate the fallen soldiers families. The reporters try to get the family members to say something negative. If the family member have positive things to say , the interview is short. If the family members says negative things, the interview is extended, with the camera focusing on the family photos and the teary eyed family members. It is disgusting.
Every coalition casualty is reported as if to show the fight on terrorism is the fault of the US and other coalition governments. Nothing is ever reported on the deaths of all the innocents by the hands of the terrorists that occur daily. Nothing is reported about the deaths of the teachers, priests, monks, students, merchants, garbage pick up men, policemen, firemen, doctors, husbands, wives, children, fishermen, people at cafes, people at markets, people walking on the sidewalks, and many others----all at the hands of the Islamic thugs whom the coalition forces are fighting. Nothing is reported on the aims or methods of Islam dedicated to the death of all non Muslims. Nothing is being reported the silent takeover of the school systems or of the silent takeover of key government positions. The Islamic Republic of Iran calculates the Americans have removed their most potent local enemy, Saddam Hussein (who after a dozen years of sanctions was no longer so potent), and the organized Sunni forces, and Iran can afford to help, indirectly, perhaps not whatever remnants of Al-Zarqawi's "Al Qaeda in Iraq" may exist (because those who call Shi'a "Rafidite dogs" and regard them as worse Infidels than are the Americans), but Sunnis whose main attacks are on the Americans.
What does this show? There are all kinds of possibilities, of shifts and shape-shifting, that those who tell us we must stay because "otherwise Iran will take over" refuse to consider. They also appear to think that the American public will remain, not only endlessly patient, but that American soldiers, who themselves are being asked to bear the entire burden of a foolish policy, and who know better than anyone the meretricioiusness, the lack of national feeling, the hostility hidden or revealed toward them as Infidels, by virtually the entire ungrateful population of Arabs (the Kurds are a different matter, and for reasons that go beyond their regarding the Americans as their protector -- reasons that include their other non-Arab identity, which plays against Islam, while the Arab identity reinforces Islam), will remain unaffected by this fool's errand. That is what such people as McCain (whose disastrous choice of an adviser, Robert Kagan, is a mistake on the level with John Edwards's disastrous choice of Bonior for his campaign) appear to think, swallowing the Party Line of the Bush Administration whole.
Iraq can work to the benefit of the Camp of Infidels. It contains a mix of hostilities, rivalries, hatreds among different groups of Muslims. It is madness for the Americans to worry about "I*ran taking over." It cannot happen. Or rather, Iran has already taken over, in a sense, what it can,and now it is time to let the Sunni Arabs inside Iraq, but supported by the Sunni A"rabs outside, to do whatever they intend to do in order to preserve their position, and to allow the Shi'a Arabs to do whatever it is they will do in turn.
It is not time to follow the siren song of Foreign Agent Brent Scowcroft, as he tells us we, the Americans, cannot "leave Iraq" now, because that is what the Sunni Arabs have been telling him, and so many others perhaps just as eager -- if such is possible -- to serve, like Scowcroft, as an unfailing mouthpiece for those Sunni Arabs, "our friends in the region."
Perhaps the surge that is perhaps taking place is really a mask for action against Iran, I can only hope.

After the central Iraq government inevitable collapse, look for the Shia militia and the Kurd militia (nascent armies, both) to immediately occupy their respective fields, seizing control from the state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC).
The Kurds will seize the supergiant Kirkuk Field, the Shia their supergiant Ramailia Field, and the world's oil supply will be affected overnight.
Prez Mahmoud of course will gain the most leverage with his ability to leverage the Ramailia and other southern Iraqi fields in conjunction with the Iranian fields.
I look for the Shia Islamic Republic of Iraq to federalize with the Islamic Republic of Iran in some manner, mostly having to do with oil.
A counterbalance to that lever will be the standalone Kurds, who will undergo an attempted takeover by Moslem activists of the Sunni Kurd variety.
The Kurds are the wild card. Look for the worst from them, at least until the Prez Mahmoud's attempted oil embargo folds, or at least eases. The embargo will be doomed by the combined presence of the US Navy and British Navy, over the howls of the EUrabian Government. After the crisis, the UK may even pull out of the EU.
I also look for EUrabia to fold of its own accord, aligning with the Shia republics around a long term oil contract, negotiated in competition against the PRC and India, while America aligns with Arabia, throwing its technology and military weight behind the Wahabbis in some form of Sunni Arab assault across the Persian Gulf.
Dubya and Tony, weaklings both, will rue their cowardice when Prez Mahmoud, in response to the air and naval pressure put upon him and his Shia Arab allies, soils the fields of the Arabian basins and archs with heavy isotopes.
Here’s a great idea (NOT!) … let’s ask Iran for help in solving the Iraqi violence.

One wonders if the de-Ba'athification of Iraq was a bit of a mistake. The Iranians, the Shia of Iraq (same thing really, all mere Persians) and foreign Jihadists are doing exactly what Iran wants ie, causing mayhem in the country to the Persian's delight. Maybe it is time to rehabilitate the Ba'ath party to an extent. Arab nationalism is a pretty ugly monster, but it is the lesser of the great evils when it comes to the international terrorism of the Persians and Al Qaeda who are using the Iraq conflict as a huge live fire exercise.

What will it take for our leaders to realize that making friends with Islam is not in the cards? Either we win or they win. There's no middle ground. It was easy to ignore the first WTC bombing because the damage (other than smoke) wasn't visible on the street and "only" six people died, all in the basement/parking garage. Wasn't 9/11 enough of a wake-up call? Do we need an entire city to be wiped out before we come to our senses?

I have read that Al Qaeda has aligned itself with Iran, so that would make sense, even though that is hard to believe as well with Sunni's hating Shiites.
