An Islamic website featured a three-minute video entitled, “Blow Yourself Up.”The video shows a bomber reading his suicide note, vowing “that you [the Israeli ‘occupiers’] will not live in peace and that martyrdom [operations] will continue until you return to your homes, defeated and humiliated.”
The bomber then blows himself up as images of mangled bodies lay all around. “We have watered the soil with the blood of the martyrs, we have not withheld [our] blood from the soil,” the video reads. It closes with footage of the 9/11 attacks.
I saw that video.. horrible, islamic propaganda at its worth.
If these idiots would do this in the comfort of their own homes they would be doing the world a great service.
This goes to show that any muslim within 100 yards of anyone else is a potential threat. Count me out on the “lets all get together and get along crowd”.
It would be an even better service if they continue doing it in the comfort of each other's mosques ...

I am beginning to think that these folks' willingness to blow themselves up demonstrates on a deep unconscious level that they are in fact living a lie from cradle to grave and this is the only way out of the lie which still allows them to "save face". (Ironically, it is my impression that their faces usually do survive somewhat intact, even as the rest of their bodies are blown to bits.)In any case, despite the surface "bravado" involved, there certainly appears to be an air of desperation about the whole thing. And the way they feel the need to hype this whole martyrdom thing suggests a desperation unconsciously fueled by internal conflict and doubt.

What is needed is a device that detonates explosive devices at a certain safe distance from a check point of other vital access area.
This could or would cause "collateral casualties." The person invested with triggering the device would have to decide which would cause more "collateral casualties," detonation at a distance or near or at the intended target of the bomber.
Mobile devices could detonate incipient bombers in their homes, coffee shops, etc.
So, who are we looking out for, the bombers or the bombed? The bombed are dead or destroyed while the bombers are pardoned. If they kill mine I will kill theirs. I don't like it as they do but I will protect my own.

Sooner or later, it will come down to doing whatever is necessary to protect ourselves. White House, Dept. of State and other politicians care less for Americans. Infact, does anyone else feel that Bush administration works more for Islamic terrorist states, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, than for USA? Well, I most certainly do. And I think I know the reasons why. But that is a different topic. What does one have to do to acquite a gun? I believe 2nd ammendment gives one right to bear arms. tgusa - I have had the good fortune to have never experienced a terrorist attack personally. But I have an active imagination. News sources typically dwell on the number of deaths, when in reality there are at least as many people seriously injured in these attacks. People burned over much of their bodies, people blinded, people with their limbs blown off. How come these people are not given any air time to tell their stories - about how Islamic terrorism has changed their lives forever? I recall seeing one such story on Discovery, I believe, about a man who survived the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon and whose face was literally melted away. It was a story about plastic surgery - face transplants as I recall. There are thousands of such stories by now and we almost never see them told.

Also there is two ways of spoting phony money. One is by the use of a special pen that will change colors when it is marked on the money. Also look to see if there is an offical watermark, for example, like on the ten the words "We The People" which also has the design of Lady Liberty's torch arm.
The "special pen" in the case of the Bible, is how the "believers" of the greatest book in the history of the world is lived out in their everyday lives. The "offical watermark" is the famous words that you have posted "God IS Love".

I might be mistaken, but I doubt it. Jihad is not the problem. Rather, it is a symptom of the problem. The problem is that Islam is the only major belief-system that gives any permission to deception. Deception is war and a kind of violence. It is but one step from deception to physical violence. Many Muslims will claim that Islam only permits deception under certain circumstances. But that misses the point: it allows for deception.
I am hardly a "good" Christian. But like many who have some knowledge of the teachings of Jesus, I am aware that Jesus mandated that ALL hypocrisy-deception "comes from the evil one". The roots of the behavior of the suicide-guy above and others like him are in deception. Though he himself is not deceptive, he does the work of people that are deceivers.
Many who claim to be "Christian" do deceive. However, Jesus said they were not his followers if they did that. There is a profound difference between Jesus and Mohammed. The difference is in their mandates re deception.

I have to reply to Caroline and some other comments regarding the "desperation" motivation for suicide bombers. This is what I had always thought before I began reading about Jihad. Indeed there are a few desperate and pathetic individuals who have done this. But most are not -- they are religiously motivated and consider themselves heroic. They are called "Shaheeds" (=witnesses), lauded as heros, and schools, playgrounds, civic centers and streets are named after them throughout the arab world. Schoolchildren in Palestine and, to a lesser degree elsewhere, list martyrdom for Allah as their number one lifetime aspiration.
Most martyrdom operations are carried out by people with "normal" lives. Most are well educated, come from "normal" middle class families. They leave long, articulate statements on paper and on video explaining what they hope to accomplish through their "martyrdom operations".
The problem is that we're fed this mythology about jihad being motivated by deep desperation flowing from cruel injustices. You heard it after 9/11: ultimately it's America's own fault because of their foreign policy. Now, most of us are intelligent enough to take these theories with a grain of salt, but they are repeated often enough it's very tempting to think that there must be a grain of truth at the core -- maybe if we just fixed their problems for them they would not want to attack us? Maybe they are just doing this because they are poor, pitiful and desperate?
Quite the opposite -- these operations are well-funded by some of the richest financiers in the world. Saudi Arabia (for one) has the highest per capita level of "charitable giving" in the world. You might ask, then, why must Christian charities like World Vision spend Billions to feed, cloth and school Islamic children in their backyard? (I, for one, sponsor a child in a muslim community.) Where are these tens of billions of Saudi "charitable donations" going each year? Well, to build enormous mosques throughout the west and stock the new "Dawah Centers" you see popping up all over, but also to the ongoing jihad, including suicide bombers. The rocket launchers used by kids on the street in Palestine against Israeli forces are not weapons of choice for miserably poor desperados: they are very expensive, high class weapons bankrolled by sugardaddies.
The bombers themselves, frankly, find our western explanations for their motivation insulting. Some put them down to Zionist propaganda.

My use of the term "desperation" was a poor choice and obviously misleading. I didn't mean to imply "desperation" of the socioeconomic or typical "grievance" variety. I was thinking along the lines of something much more unconscious - the living of a lie and perhaps some unconscious awareness of that. Without a doubt these people appear on the surface to believe in this madness and the notion that their salvation lies in the murder of their fellow man. I was merely reflecting on the possibility that on some level they might recognize that this is false and inhuman and such an idea isn't so far-fetched if the notion of natural moral human intuition has any credence. And actually I think the notion of natural moral intuition must have some credence or why are there so many Muslims who ignore the teachings of Islam or make so many excuses for those teachings or continue to do head stands of one sort or another in order to deny that those teachings are what they are, even to themselves? Setting aside genuine cases of taqiyyah, I don't know what could account for that sort of widespread "sticking one's head in the sand" among Muslims about what Islam teaches and about who Muhammad was and the crimes he committed, if there weren't something akin to a natural moral intuition. With regard to suicide bombers and "desperation" I was thinking along those lines. And thinking about how the hyping of "martyrdom" has a kind of "protesteth too much" quality about it which speaks of well, a kind of desperation. A moral desperation perhaps, in which everything one is taught conflicts with natural human moral intuition and yet there is no escape from this perhaps largely unconscious conflict because of societal pressures. From that perspective, blowing oneself up is the means of resolving the conflict in a flamboyantly and decisive way in order to remove all doubt and the psychic conflict which stems from that.
I really shouldn't have wandered off to begin with into the realm of random psychoanalytic speculation and musing!
But remember, in Islam, "blow yourself up" means a quiet, introspective, spiritual struggle. So don't try to take this video out of context, and "cherry-pick" the violent parts of it and only focus on those.

Someone should do a spoof popular science video showing how the heads of suicide bombers are often found on roofs or in the branches of trees up to a hundred yards away - usually undamaged enough to be recognisable. World wide, there have been over 6867 terrorist attacks by Muslims since sep 11th ... Unfortunately, this list of Muslim terrorist attacks barely scratches the surface of atrocities committed in the name of Islam that occur world-wide each day. For that reason, we don't tally up the dead and dismembered.
As an example, most news articles on the violence in southern Thailand note that about 900 people were killed in 2005. We estimate that 150 of these deaths are of the Islamic militants themselves, which means they killed some 750 people that year. But TROP has only recorded the deaths of 314. We underreported more than half in a country with a decent news infrastructure. Imagine what we don't catch in the Sudan where the toll runs into the tens of thousands!
The ridiculous level of violence that Islam serves up to the world makes it impossible to compile a complete list.
Interestingly, people often respond to the list by disparaging other religions, as if pulling everyone down to the same level satisfies some sort of moral preconception about religion and culture in general. Since no other religion inspires the sort of terrorism that Islam produces, the critic invariably finds it necessary to change the rules of comparison for one side of the equation in order to contrive preferred results.
Typically, this will take the form of reaching far back into a religion's history to find the worst that can be found, even if it is in a time of war or is in utter contradiction to the teachings of the faith.
Thanks, Caroline, for clarifying. I'm 100% in agreement with what you say. I too have wondered at what level the desperation is there; I also believe in the innate sense of morality, and people do not commit these acts, even after indoctrination, without something knocking their moral compass off kilter.
I think it might be the sense of shame at the obvious success of the non-muslim world at improving life while the Islamic world wallows on the edge of medievalism, and what I mentioned about charity -- that, while they give generously to their "causes" and should by all rights be able to take care of their own out of such massive charitable donations, absolute humanitarian disaster would overtake Dar al-Islam today if not for the generous assistance of benevolent organizations sponsored by their "enemies" in Israel, Christendom, Hindus, Buddhists and even the filthy (:-) ) unbelieving athiests of the west.
They cannot even feed their own people, while Islamic countries, filthy rich with oil wealth, sit on the most fertile growing regions of the world, in countries with 12 month growing seasons. They depend on massive food shipments from countries that sit under a foot of snow half the year and only produce an abundance of food because of ingenuity, hard work, well-developed technology and infrastructure, peaceful cooperation and a commitment to free enterprise.
My thesis could be supported by a simple graph: on one axis give some numeric measure of financial, infrastructural, humanitarian and military assistance being given to islamic countries by various western nations. On the other axis, give a numeric indicator of hatred against these nations by muslims. However you define these variables, I think you'd see a direct correlation.
I suspect that they hate us because we help them, and the shame is unbearable in light of the Qur'an's assertions that they are the leaders and rulers of the world.
I don't know what they write about in your area, but the Islamic apologists around here are continually writing articles in the paper talking about how christians, jews and the west use charity in muslim countries to corrupt and subvert innocent muslims. In desperation, they rationalize away every good and charitable act towards them as horrific crimes:
We only give them food to bribe them to convert to another religion. We only build schools and hospitals to rip their loyalty away from the Ummah and to brainwash their children. We don't send our sons and daughters to die freeing their countries from mad despotic regimes, we are only trying to conquer the world and steal their resources. It's all a big war against Islam.
It's hard to accept that they believe their own words, but I think they do -- it's part of that desperation, borne of a need to be on the right side and a deep-seated fear that you aren't; sort of like the die-hard football fans at a highschool whose team has always placed dead last. That is the nature of the desperation.
So, yes, there is desperation there, but not of the sort we hear talked about in the liberal media these days.
