Jimmy Carter: bought and paid for?

In "The Question of Carter's Cash" at National Review, Claudia Rosett explores some of the people financing Jimmy Carter, including Osama bin Laden's brother. It's behind subscription, so here is just a small excerpt:

Did Jimmy Carter do it for the money? That's the question making the rounds about Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid, an anti-Israeli screed recently written by the ex-president whose Carter Center has accepted millions in Arab funding....

In recent weeks, a number of articles have noted that Carter's anti-Israeli views coincide with those of some of the center's prime financial backers, including the government of Saudi Arabia and the foundation of Saudi prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud, whose offer of $10 million to New York City just after Sept. 11 was rejected by then-mayor Rudy Giuliani because it came wrapped in the suggestion that America rethink its support of Israel. Other big donors listed in the Carter Center's annual reports include the Sultanate of Oman and the sultan himself; the government of the United Arab Emirates; and a brother of Osama bin Laden, Bakr BinLadin, 'for the Saudi BinLadin Group.'"

Two things:

1) How much Moslem Money for the Clinton Center?

2) Is James Baker a Democrat?

Could this exposure be the real reason that fourteen staff memebers of the Carter Center resigned last week?
Over the book, they said.

Here is an older article on the subject; it has some more detail and you don't need a subscription:

www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2002/4/28/112225.shtml

and googling Claudia Rosett, you find

Annan as the Next Jimmy Carter
In a virtuoso display of the sleaze that has marked his tenure as UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan used his farewell speech today at the Truman library to blast the Bush administration, this performance accompanied by a Washington Post Op-ed this morning that boils down to — guess what? — blasting the Bush administration. At Captain’s Quarter’s Ed Morrissey writes, “Come on, WaPo — level with us. Claudia Rosett wrote this as a spoof, right?”

just what we need

Alarmed Pig Farmer writes: "Is James Baker a Democrat?"

The Islamists are bipartisan. Case in point: Grover Norquist. GOP party loyalist, staunchly conservative, head of Americans for Tax Reform.

Just one problem:

In 1998, Norquist founded the Islamic Free Market Institute (sometimes just called the "Islamic Institute") with money from a number of sources, mainly in the Middle East. One of the early major contributors was Abdurahman Alamoudi, the founder of the American Muslim Council. Alamoudi appears to have contributed $35,000 to the Islamic Institute. Alamoudi was convicted of illegal dealings with Libya, tax, and immigration violations on July 30, 2004, and was sentenced to 23 years in jail.

Norquist has been linked to Florida professor and Muslim activist Sami Al-Arian. On March 2, 2006, Al-Arian pled guilty to one count of conspiracy "to make or receive contributions of funds, goods or services to or for the benefit of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad."[22] He was sentenced to 57 months in prison, of which he had already served 38, and to then be deported.

In July, 2001, Norquist received an award from the National Coalition to Protect Political Freedom (NCPPF), a civil liberties group headed by Al-Arian. This award was for Norquist’s work to abolish the use of secret intelligence evidence in terrorism cases, a position Bush had adopted in the 2000 campaign. After the September 11th, 2001 attacks, the NCPPF urged Muslims not to cooperate with the U.S. government.

When the Islamists, including the Saudis, have $10 trillion in petrodollars to play around with, they can corrupt anybody.

Tell me, would you join their jihad if they offered you, say, a cool $100 million in a numbered Swiss bank account?

Even I would be tempted!

I think old peanut brain spews forth his pro palestinian crap more out of conviction than because he's in the pocket of Islamania (the money certainly doesn't hurt though). However, if it is conclusively shown that he is indeed getting money from the cult of death it wouldn't surprise me-that bunch has bought plenty of politicians with dirty oil money from both parties for quite some time now.

Re:Steven L
Just one word, NEVER.
Why?
My daughter was gang raped( in 2000 ) by 14 of these of these pigs and since then I have researched islam.
So I know the real islam now and I hate it.

It certainly seems plausible, auntbea. And who would have thought that Carter could actually do anything to further damage his already tarnished legacy.

My sincere sympathies, DT. I hope, that if it is not too painful for you, you can share your story with as many people as possible. Every little bit helps to explain all parts the overall story of the attempted world domination by Islam. Millions more need to be convinced of it. My in-laws LOVE Jimmy Carter. They were at a book signing with him last year; they bought us a signed copy. It was a different book, but we didn't bother to read it. My in-laws see him as the Habitat for Humanity King and Savior of Africa. We definitely don't share their worship-like attitude, but can't say too much. We still have to do holidays with them.

Steven L: I know it may seem strange in the world we live in, but there are actually people out there who will not be bought. Who will not lie. Who will not thieve and cheat. It is called integrity, and it is out there, though rare. I would not be bought for Islam, at any price.

DT

My sympathies lie with you and your daughter and your family. I hope you understand that you, your daughter and the rest of your family are among good friends here.

These animals need to be taught a lesson, and I personally would like to be the instructor. Until that time, I am going to sharpen my tools and keep them in readiness-. And I am going to study the concepts, events and other things that Robert and Hugh keep us abreast of. I have lived overseas for 25 years in my life, in Asia and have been to various parts of SE Asia, frequently. I have seen this kind of thing occur frequently, but only after coming here have the events put in context..

Tell me, would you join their jihad if they offered you, say, a cool $100 million in a numbered Swiss bank account?

NOPE!! What use is money when you are living under islam? Who says they can't take it back from you once they take over?

On the other hand.. that doesn't mean you couldn't function as a double agent either.

I know this was a very hypothetical question and it's a highly unlikely event LOL.

Why give someone like you or me $100m when they can get Nowhere Greedquest for a mere $35K??!!

It's so insane!!

Noone seems to care about the future of our culture and society anymore. I can't understand they are that careless about the future of their very own offspring!

Does Bush want to see his twins sold off to a harem somewhere to be groped by slimy fat Sowdis? They all look like Jabba-the-Hut to me.

DT,

over on my blog I have a jihadi under 'Hilali, Asshole of the month' claiming that the Cronulla riots were nothing but 'gang warfare' and that the guy's who raped aussie-girls were Christians, simply because the majority of Leb's in Sydney are Christians...

Did Jimmy Carter do it for the money?

Hyman Rickover controlled most aspects of Carter’s life from the age of 22 until his mid-thirties. I’m convinced that Rickover has much to do with Carter’s stance towards Israel (although I’m sure Arab cash keeps the skids well-greased).

My favorite Rickover-moment was when a blizzard hit Washington DC and most Federal agencies, including Rickover’s, directed all non-essential personnel to stay home from work because of road hazards.

All those who didn’t show up were fired.

The link is to an address Rickover gave during Carter’s presidency. Its long but, in my opinion, brilliant. Rickover was a great man.

www.limes68.blogspot.com

Carter only told half the story, Israel was apartheid South Africa's closest ally and it seeks to impose Bantustans on Palestinian territories.

Jimmy is being demonized by the Israel Lobby (and you ultra right-wingers) his new book. because the book objects to linking Israel's policies in the West Bank and Gaza to apartheid South Africa's racist policies. However, it may come as a shock to the Israel Lobby that Israel was South Africa's closest ally: militarily, intelligence-wise, nuclear, and financial. President Carter denies he was linking Israel to South Africa. However, I will take that liberty and break it down for you.

The Wisconsin Project on Nuclear Arms Control stated, "Hands down, Israel was South Africa's most important missile supplier. Pretoria got most of what it needed from Tel Aviv." The Wisconsin Project also discovered, "In June 1980, the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) reported to the National Security Council that the 2-3 kiloton nuclear test had probably involved Israel and South Africa. U.S. intelligence had tracked frequent visits to South Africa by Israeli nuclear scientists, technicians and defense officials in the years preceding the incident and concluded that "clandestine arrangements between South Africa and Israel for joint nuclear testing operations might have been negotiable." Speculation on that same subject was fueled in 1986 when Israeli nuclear technician Mordechai Vanunu was interviewed by the London Sunday Times. Vanunu said that it was common knowledge at Dimona that South African metallurgists, technicians, and scientists were there on exchange programs." (Vanunu is still under house arrest in Israel, after serving a long prison sentence for his revelations about Israel's nuclear weapons program, similar revelations were recently echoed by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert). The Wisconsin Project's Risk Report also revealed: "strong evidence of missile cooperation surfaced in 1989, when a powerful rocket took off from South Africa's Overberg Test Range and flew nearly 1,500 kilometers. It turned out to be a South African version of Israel's Jericho-II missile. U.S. officials confirmed later that the CIA had evidence of a full-scale partnership between the Israel and South Africa to develop, test and produce long-range missiles and rockets. Also, a U.S. official who tracks missile proliferation told the Risk Report that South Africa's space launcher, the RSA-4, was built around the same engines that power Israel's Jericho-II missile and its "Shavit" space launcher. In 1990, Washington penalized Armscor for its missile activities by banning trade for two years, but President Bush [George H. W. Bush] declined to punish Israel."

Economic cooperation between Israel and apartheid South Africa was also close, largely a result of the connections between South Africa's diamond mining operations and diamond brokerage businesses in Tel Aviv, Belgium, and the Netherlands. South Africa built a major railway in Israel and Israel built a large desalination plant in South Africa. South African ministers paid several visits to Israel at a time when the world community shunned South African officials. In 1981, Israeli Defense Minister Ariel Sharon visited South African troops in Namibia fighting against that country's independence forces. President Carter's fellow Nobel Peace Prize winner, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, has also likened Israel's policies in Palestine to the apartheid regime's treatment of blacks. The Confederation of South African Trade Unions has called Israel an "apartheid state." In 2004, two South African Jewish political leaders, Ronnie Kasrils and Max Osinky, signed a petition with 200 other prominent South African Jews equating Israel's treatment of Palestinians to South Africa's apartheid.

Three years ago, Haaretz reported that former Italian Prime Minister Massimo D'Alema said Ariel Sharon told a dinner in Jerusalem that South Africa's apartheid model was the best way for Israel to deal with the Palestinians.

The most damning evidence of Israel's support for apartheid was the close ties it maintained with South African "Bantustans," apartheid contrivances designed to keep South African blacks separate from white South Africans. These Bantustans were not recognized by any country except South Africa. However, Israel conferred quasi-diplomatic status to a number of these so-called homelands for blacks.

Yaacov Meridor, a friend of Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, established close financial links with the Bantustan of Transkei and he located offices of his computer company, Degem, in the territory. Degem marketed population surveillance computer software to the South African and Guatemalan security services. Joseph Ben Dak, an Israeli professor, became a member of the Transkei government and Ruth Dayan, the first wife of Israeli Gen. Moshe Dayan stood as a candidate for the 1977 Transkei legislative elections on a "peace" slate of candidates.

Israel was also a major financial supporter of the Bantustan of Ciskei. Former Israeli Finance Minister Yori Aridor invested heavily in Ciskei as did 14 other Israeli multi-millionaire businessmen. Israel's Gur, Incoba, and Koor Corporations were major investors in the Ciskei apartheid contrivance.

In 1985, the Bantustan of Bophuthatswana established an office, a quasi-embassy, in Tel Aviv. That development meant that Israel joined South Africa in conferring semi-diplomatic status to a South African "homeland." Bophuthatswana government officials traveled frequently to Israel. Israeli Labor leader Shimon Peres was received on a state visit to Bophuthatswana by its President, Chief Lucas Mangope. The presence of the Sun City casino complex drew a seamier side of Israeli Bantustan investments: diamond smuggling, money laundering, and prostitution. Criminal elements tied to the late Israeli racist leader Meir Kahane, Russian-Israeli gangster Shabtai Kalmanovitch, and jailed GOP lobbyist Jack Abramoff virtually ran the casino business in Bophuthatswana. Kalmanovtich was later imprisoned by Israel for being a Soviet agent.

There were burgeoning cultural links between Israel and the Venda and Lebowa Bantustans. Venda's President Patrick Mphephu, along with a number of his ministers, who also made a state visit to Israel in 1980. Lesotho's government protested these visits as de facto recognition of their independence by Israel. The KwaZulu Bantustan chief Gatsha Buthelezi was afforded a state visit to Israel in 1985. Buthelezi was promised assistance by the Israeli government and the Histadrut labor union.

The Israeli telephone company Bezek listed Ciskei, Bophuthatswana, and Transkei as "independent" nations in their international directory.

Conclusion: Israel is not only practicing a form of apartheid in Palestine, it was a major supporter of apartheid in South Africa. Jimmy Carter just scratched the surface on Israel and apartheid in his groundbreaking book.

It's funny how you "Jihad Watchers" are always talking about how evil radical muslims are but support ultra right-wing zionists (radical jews), the same right-wing zionists who make Ahmadenijad and Bin Laden look like liberals when comparing the crimes committed by each. You people are damn hypocrites.

Spencer, I thought Dhimmiwatch was suppose to cover stories of radical muslims slaughtering and harrassing non-muslims, what does Jimmy Carter have to do with any of that?

Jimmy Carter should stick to ridding the world of the guinea worm.

Wow, such great logic you've got there:

- South Africa was an apartheid state
- Israel had close economic and military connections with South Africa.
- Therefore Israel too is an apartheid state.

You know, according to the same logic one can conclude that:

- Saudi Arabia is a Muslim monarchy.
- USA has close economic and military ties with Saudi Arabia.
- Therefore USA is a Muslim monarchy.

Sorry WAT, close connections between states do not necessarily means similarity, and the fuct that a few morons somewhere signed a petition, is not yet a proof that they know what they are talking about. Nor a proof of anything else for that matter. Must be news to you, eh? And since it seems so difficult for you to grasp, let me spell out just some differences between the situation in Israel and in South Africa:

The blacks in South Africa did never aim at throwing all whites to the sea. They did not strap bombs to their bodies and exploded in busses, shops and restaurants. They did not murder SA athlets, nor entered schools and shot children. They did not fire rockets on SA cities, nor pledged a jihad. Before the sepseration fence was build and the checkpoints established dozens of Israeli citizens were murdered on a daily basis by Palestinian terrorists. Are you seriously claiming Israel should not be allowed to protect its citizens from these dealy attacks?
Furthermore: there are no significant racial differences between Israelies and Palestinians (60% of israelies originate in Arab and Muslim countries, and look pretty much like them)or an ideology of racial superirity held by Israelies.

When Nixon was still in teh White house, there was growing recognition of a coming energy crisis, and Nixon said that America should NOT be dependent on foreign oil supplies. But the enviromentalists, who were at the same time bemoaning loss of wildlife habitat, wetlands, extinction of many species (like deer, coyotes and cougars running around our neighborhoods now), timber famine, impending ice age, global starvations, etc. etc. and consumption of the Alaskan oil reserves by the 1990's which would make the pipeline a waste of money, opposed every new electric plant, hydropower, coal mine or oil shale developement. Carter sided with them, then he becomes President, and a "supposed" shortage pours billions of dollars into teh pockets of our Arab friends and the rest of OPEC. And then there is the gift wrapping and handing over of one of the world's most imporatant strategic waterways, the Panama Canal, to communist China. I'm sure this is all just a unfortunate turn of events and did not in anyway financially profit Carter. Wanna buy a bridge?

If the JOOZ are so evil then why didn't they [or still continue to] murder Germans [ie. civilians] who were not directly involved with the Holocaust?

No, it was Lebanese planning to bomb German commuter trains recently.

Actually that is something my German compatriots should take to heart.. This "warm war" is also a test of loyalty.

What would YOU do, WAT, when the entire world is against you and then you find ONE person/other country who reaches out to you. Even if they are the biggest bully on earth.. YOU want to survive!

When you have nothing but enemies what do YOU do?

Besides, the Israelis had gone throught quite a LOT before they conected with the South Africans. Let us not forget that.

LET US NOT FORGET!!

Poor Jimmy takin dirty money, he does some good work, but it is all lost with his bad judgement. Unfortunately he is not the only one taking Saudi money, as American universities are also doing the same.

WAT says:

"It's funny how you "Jihad Watchers" are always talking about how evil radical muslims are but support ultra right-wing zionists (radical jews), the same right-wing zionists who make Ahmadenijad and Bin Laden look like liberals when comparing the crimes committed by each. OK, please provide examples of some documented crimes committed by these so called right-wing zionists that you claim make islamofacists look like liberals. Are these crimes on par with those committed by jihadists throughout the world? Also, please tell us all who these so called right-wing Zionists are so we know who we are supporting.

If you can't do either of these things, then I say perhaps it is you who should look into the hypocrite mirror. It is so easy to get on these blogs and spew crap that you can't support. It dosen't foster thoughtfull dialogue, and only furthers my belief that supporters of Islam are mindless dolts. My support for Israel only strengthens.

Dhimmi Carter is the subject of this string because he has written a book of lies and gets a lot of financial support from individuals who hate Jews and hate Israel. He has alienated Americans with his anti-Western vomit, and hides behind a few philanthropic endevours. As for Israel's buisiness dealings with SA, if you dig deep enough, you can find Saudi and UAE support of SA during the 1980's via buisiness. I don't recall reading any condemnation of SA by the Gulf states during aparthied. Please correct me if I missed something.

I am moved to laughter at the Alice-in-Wonderland logic of WAT above. As pointed out above, by his logic, the USA is a Muslim Wahhabite monarchy. On the other hand, traditional Muslim society enforced the dhimma system on non-Muslim subject peoples in the Muslim state. The dhimma system has much in common with apartheid. The Dhimma meant that some were superior in rights and others inferior. If the Dred Scott decision of the US Supreme Court meant that Blacks did not have rights that a white man was bound to respect, then Muslim law provided precious few rights to the dhimmis. The non-Muslim subject [including the Jew] of the Islamic state had to buy his right to live anew every year through payment of the jizyah [sometimes called kharaj]. Now, Carter takes big money from those who believe in the dhimma [including the Bin Laden family]. If dhimma is indeed similar to apartheid, except that it is based on religion rather than skin color, then Carter supports a social system quite similar to apartheid. On the other hand, Arabs can ride buses with Jews, sit in restaurants with Jews, go to school and university with Jews. South Africa maintained all sorts of laws segregating Blacks and Whites, even down to laws forbidding sexual relations between them [if I am not mistaken]. WAT does not take account of the many problems in his position.

Next, WAT's sources and authorities for what he says are dubious. Who and what is the Wisconsin Project? Is it an independent, objective research body? Who finances the Wisconsin Project? What are the credentials of its officials and "researchers"? Did the Wisconsin Project report the trade between Saddam Hussein's Iraq and South Africa? The Iraqi sale of oil to SA? How about the genocide practiced by the Sudan, an Arab League member, against tribal Black Africans in southern Sudan? Is WAT aware that Hamas has had especially close ties with the Sudan's government which is also Islamist, like the Hamas? Does he know that Arafat met Hamas delegates in Sudan, which was friendly to both Fatah and Hamas?
WAT mentions that Ronnie Kasrils signed a petition defining Israel as an apartheid state. Indeed. Does WAT know that Kasrils is a Communist [of Jewish origin, not a "Jewish leader"]? Does he know that the Communist Soviet Union made the Nazi-Soviet Pact with Nazi Germany in 1939? Did that make the Soviet Union a Nazi state? Since Kasrils is still basically a Communist, does the Nazi-Soviet Pact mean that Kasrils is a Nazi and guilty of the Holocaust? Kasrils is also now a minister in the South African Government. Is that government Nazi merely because Kasrils and other Communists --past or present-- sit as ministers in that government?

As to South Africa building a railroad in Israel, the railroad here was built in Ottoman times [by a local Jewish contractor, Joseph Navon, inter alia]. I never heard of any South African involvement in our railroad and I doubt the story. Then, WAT attributes a certain statement to former prime minister Sharon on the hearsay evidence of Massimo d'Alema, the present Italian foreign minister. Does WAT know that d'Alema is an old Communist and now leads the "soft" post-Communist Party in Italy [there is another, "hard" CP in Italy]?
As to Bantustans. I remind WAT that the Bantustans were under the political domination of South Africa. Israel does not control the "palestinian authority" zones. They are funded mainly by the EU, the USA, Japan, and the Muslim-Arab states that believe in holding down non-Muslims who have inferior rights in those states. The PA has a law forbidding Jews to own or purchase real estate in the PA zones. Isn't that racism on the part of the "palestinian authority"?
The entities funding the PA have immensely more control and influence over it than does Israel. Moreover, the "palestinian authority" has its own armed forces. These forces frequently act to murder Jews. They are not under Israeli control. The "Bantustan" accusation is simply a lie.

Jimmy Carter wants to exclude Jews from living in Judea-Samaria, the heart of the ancient Jewish homeland. I consider that anti-Jewish racism on Carter's part. By the way, this was Carter's policy when he was president.
