New Australian Courses to Teach Moderate Islam

"Moderate" Islam is merely "sleeping" Islam. Once Islam takes hold of a country or region, there is no more moderate Islam, as it then imposes it's Shari'a over the will of the people. The only way to control Islam in general is through direct confrontation. Mostly this is done politically, such as Syria's Baath party or Lybia's Qaddafi and like dictators. But at this point in history, we (the "West") have a GOLDEN opportunity to confront it ECONOMICALLY as well. It is about time we start doing so in earnest.

I would rather suggest a government program encouraging shackled Muslims to forsake Islam.

You know, the same sort of ads that advise people to shut off their lights when they are not needed, to not water their lawns on a hot afternoon, to not toss garbage in public places, to breastfeed children and not to spank them.

I suppose this violates separation of state and religion (if that is in the Australian tradition),
but then, so does the government-sponsored Islamic education.

You might as well start writing a new Quran in support of this initiative, which contains only the 'good' verses - that should be easy, given that there are only 68, if that.

Then go through the hadiths, reclassify them with the tolerant ones, if any, being called genuine, and everything else, like Bukhari and Muslim, fake. Have Haidon write new Tafsirs, and ban the ones by Ibn Khatir, Jalalayn,...

Then have Karen Armstrong's book replace Ibn Ishaq - make sure that Muslims learn the same Sira that she peddles.

This should do it.

Too true. I'm not going to get into a huge theological rant here, but if you take away the violent passages of the Qur'an, the rest of it really falls apart, as that is the built-in "self-preservation" mechanism of Islam. If Islam were a passive religion, it would have been laughed-off by anyone with half a brain during Mohammed's time (and indeed it was). But once he gathered his forces strongly enough to grab power and avenge the people who ridiculed him...well, the rest is history.

Good luck with this. Once all those students start "misinterpreting" the Islam taught in these schools they'll be just like the rest of them-highly unmoderate and just as troublesome.

Hmmm. Is there another Islamic book besides the Kuran, Hadiths, and Sira that we do not know about??

I have long suspected that there is one in the Arabian peninsula that is being kept hidden, but I absolutely doubt that if such a book existed it would make Islam any less egregious than it already is.

Maybe the Aussies are attempting to play the Sufi card; which is a lost cause--the Sufi Muslims are just as recklessly murderous as all the rest of the members of the Islamosphere.

Why leve it to the good Doctore Roberto? Why donn't we all do it as a project? Divide the text of the koran and do it - each working on a section?

There is no reason for western governments to engage in state sponsored Islam. End of story.

If the Australian government's plan for teaching a Moderate Islam is successful, we should then see follow-up curriculum:

Moderate Murder; It doesn't have to be so bloody.
Moderate Rape; use a condom, and call her the next day.
Moderate Pedophila; not after 9:00PM on school nights

Unfortunately, the Howard government still doesn't really 'get it' regarding Islam here in Australia, apparently buying into the 'small minority of extremists hijacking a noble religion' line.

On a brighter note, Prime Minister John Howard has renamed the former Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs.
It is now the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

Well, it's a start.

Suppose one were to come up with Bowdlerized versions of the Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira? What Muslim would agree to have his child learn from those? The only Muslims who would do so would be those who are not Muslims at all, but essentially something else: Muslim-for-identification-purposes-only Muslims. Real Muslims would not agree. Or if forced to send their children to such schools, they would provide a little home-schooling of their own in the real Islam.

And even if the parents did not supply it, what would prevent a Muslim child, at any point, as a child or later on, from simply consulting the full text of the Qur'an, or finding a click away on-line hundreds of the most authentic -- and most menacing -- Hadith, and the full, not the carefully filletted, biography of Muhammad, with the Khaybar Oasis, and little Aisha, and Asma bint Marwan, and Abu Akaf, and the decapitation of the Banu Qurayza, and so much more?

There is no way to prevent people who call themselves Muslims and who consider themselves Muslims from finding out all about Islam. They will do so. And then they will either be horrified, and reject it, or not be horrified, and accept it, even if they may not act on what the texts teach and what can be inculcated, or self-inculcated, by reading and rereading what is apparently, to some, a mesmerizing text, an Answer to Everything, a Total Regulation of Life and Complete Explanation of the Universe.

It's all just a click away on the world-wide web. This Australian plan is silly, hopeless, mere whistling in the dark, and finally, evasion of what is going to have to be faced, just as the Czechs, in 1946, had to make certain difficult decisions, for their own future security, about the 3 million Sudeten Germans who had before the war identified with Hitler, been used by Hitler as a reason for invading Czechoslovakia, and during the war, for the most part, had not only been given preferential treatment as Volksdeutsche by the Nazi invaders, but sympathized and collaborated with those invaders.

This is not really all that good.

I am particularly annoyed by the fact that no other ethnic group has been so pandered to as muslims have.

They have an advisory body to the Prime Minister as well.
Did any other ethnic groups get this? No, of course not.

But then again no other ethnic groups have been this much of a problem as far as integrating is concerned.
Sure they have all got their criminals etc, but they have, within a generation, been a lot better.

The newer generations of muslims have reverted to being more "islamified" than their parents.

The article said that Muslims have had a long history in Australia. It is thought traders from Indonesia began visiting the north coast as early as the 16th century, long before Europeans arrived.

How the hang do they know... and I have read that Muslims believe that Australia belongs to Islam, and just as Muslims kill a muslim who will not return to the faith, Muslims also intend to take australia back...they say it is theirs and they will kill for it...

The US has continues its imbecilic policy of foreign aid to the various Terrorist entities (well more that 6 million). The benefit to date resembles destroy equipment, body parts, and lots of hate rhetoric....

You cannot buy peace at any price but blood....be prepared to pay....

What has happened to the Australia of my youth where all the men were hard-as-nails, drinking, sweating loudmouths, proud of their criminal heritage and determined to enjoy their freedom; and where all the women were 'sheilas' who were equally uninhibited in their pursuit of liberated femininity? The relaxation of the 'white australia policy' and the collapse of its insistence on the technical and other skills that made prospective immigrants worthy of settlement has had disasterous effects on the Australian psyche. If Australia succumbs to Islam, God help the rest of the west.

This is just another intellectual capitulation – a failure of reason & nerve to tackle Islam straight on as an ideology. This is possibly the greatest failure of Western governments, most academic elites & intellectuals everywhere.
