New Muslim congressman avoids loyalty questions

There is no reason why he should avoid such questions. If he wants to draw parallels between himself and John Kennedy, he should also note that Kennedy addressed such questions fully and honestly. He never charged that those who were asking them were racists or bigots, even though in Kennedy’s case that was much more likely to be true than it is in Ellison’s.

From, :

…What he hasn’t done is respond to requests from WND to confirm that he will, in fact, base his decisions on the laws of the United States on the U.S. Constitution, not the Quran.

It was during his campaign that he raised the issue of his Islamic beliefs himself, and confirmed then that they would play a large role in his decision-making process:

“I am inspired by the Quran’s message of encompassing divine love, and a deep faith guides my life every day,” he wrote in his promotional materials.

He later told a group meeting in Detroit that, “I’m not here to be a preacher, but in terms of political agenda items, my faith informs these things.”…

Rick Jauert, a spokesman for the congressman, was reached at his campaign headquarters in Minnesota two weeks ago, and confirmed that the congressman does not believe there will be a conflict between his religious beliefs and his duty under the U.S. Constitution.

But when asked which would take priority if there is a conflict, or to describe how the congressman will resolve the differing philosophies provided by the U.S. Constitution and the Quran, which calls for beheading “infidels,” he said he could not answer immediately.

Since then, WND has been unable to obtain answers from the congressman or his staff….

Ellison said he decided to seek congressional office because, “I am for peace now, for universal health care, and for a sustainable future.”

“I will fight for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq and for an international reconstruction effort; for universal single payer healthcare so that Americans can get the medical care that they need whether they have a job that offers insurance or not; for green energy, conservation, environmental justice, and a sustainable future for our country and the world,” he wrote.

He recognizes Israel, and said “a lasting peace in the Middle East should be one of the United States’ most focused goals.”

“Right now Hamas represents the greatest obstacle to this path, and until Hamas denounces terrorism, recognizes the absolute right of Israel to exist peacefully and honors past agreements, it cannot be considered legitimate partners in this process,” he wrote.

Jauert explained that Ellison’s conflicts between his faith and the law would be no more than those Catholics who support abortion, and then face objections from church leaders who believe they should not be allowed to take part in church rites.

“Not every follower of Islam supports Sharia law,” Jauert told WND.

Fine. But does Ellison? Can we please get a clear statement on that? After all, Ellison has associated himself with CAIR, the Muslim American Society, and the Islamic Circle of North America. CAIR’s Omar Ahmed and Ibrahim Hooper have made statements in favor of Sharia in the U.S., and MAS and ICNA are likewise linked to Sharia supremacism.

If there were any fearless or responsible reporters in America, they would be asking Ellison about this, instead of cowering at charges of bigotry — which, of course, are a very effective way to intimidate critics into silence.

    [posted above]

    I seriously doubt it, or if he ever got a question regarding his “loyalty” to our nation’s current rule of law, he’d be free and clear to lie about it. I don’t see how anyone could get a honest-to-goodness real statement from Ellison about where he truly stands on our constitution, as opposed to Islamic Sharia law.

    Now, if anyone could come up with a quote from him declaring his intent to overthrow our constitution in favor of the Islamic/Fascist rule, then perhaps we could get somewhere in having this person removed from congress.

    That was certainly a straightforward question. Should have been easy to answer. Playing the race card from the bottom of the deck sounds about par for what we can expect.

    Yes Mr. Ellison, schizhophrenia is the result of Islam.

    Muhammed gave his followers no reason to think, work and enjoy life.

    He only gave them a reason to die, or to kill others.

    That reason is called Islam. And he “stipulated” that everything Islamic is the best and everything non-Islamic is the worst.

    Everywhere in the world, Muslims have the problem of dangling between the best of living – i.e., achievements of science and technology, the glorious pre-Islamic past of their own counries and their own superior cultures on the one hand, and the filthy Arabic fascism called Islam on the other.

    So, Mr. Ellison, if you feel that loyalty (at least to humanity, if not any particular country) is a big question for you, then remember that for the people cultures who are not schizhophrenic, this question is too simple for answer and action. And you know the implications of that.

    Can he be considered a member of the Theocratic Right?
    He is a VERY dangerous useful idiot for CAIR MAS NOI et al Dar al Representatives.
    Will he attempt to cut funding to the alAqsa Brigade loyalists within the Fatah party in Gaza? Will he cut the growing arms race between HAMAS and Fatah?
    The Communists never had it so good.

  6. says

    Fine. But does Ellison? Can we please get a clear statement on that?

    Ellison has made his position VERY CLEAR the moment he made it an issue to be sworn in to office.

    He has clearly stated in Dearborn his position, and has declared that he plans to be a pro-active agent for change.

    Expect introduction of sharia laws in the guise of diversity and in the name of tolerance.

    It won’t happen over night but it WILL happen slowly, gradually, through the inculcative process that introduced us all into the culture of PC and multiculturalism.

  7. says

    “I will fight for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq and for an international reconstruction effort…”
    — from Ellison’s description of his plans

    As to that “immediate withdrawal” — I agree, but for reasons quite different from those of Ellison and, for that matter, others who think such a withdrawal cannot conceivably be undertaken for the reasons that have been suggested here for the past three years — to more effectively exploit the pre-existing fissures within the Camp of Islam, and to allow those fissures, ethnic and sectarian in Iraq, to divide and demoralize the Camp of Islam, and to allow a Demoonstration Project of Muslim violence and aggression to be observed by the entire non-Muslim world.

    It’s the second part that deserves attention. Ellison supports “international reconstruction effort.” What does he have in mind? We know what he has in mind. He has in mind even more money from Infidels being spent on the hopeless and for Infidels exactly the wrong goal, of making Iraq a nation-state where the natural aggression, violence, and refusal to compromise that are what may be called the “attitudes of Islam,” part of the “atmospherics of Islam,” because he likes the transfer of Infidel American wealth to Muslims — in Iraq as in Egypt, Pakistan, Jordan, and to the “Palestinian” Arabs. That’s his goal.

    But that should not be our goal. Not a single cent more should be squandered in Iraq. Not a single American cent more for any Muslim people or polity, for inevitably we will only be weakening ourselves, and for those Muslims, delaying the day when some of them begin to realize that their own political, economic, social, moral and intellectual failures are directly connected to, derive from, arise out of, the tenets, the attitudes, the atmospherics of Islam.

    Our “staunch ally” Saudi Arabia pays for Da’wa (and mosques, and madrasas) throughout the West, and many of its richest people cheerfully give money to terrorist groups or sympathizers, for if one does not participate activley in Jihad, one is allowed to support it in other ways. “Our staunch ally” Egypt, ignoring every single commitment it made to receive the entire Sinai, has become a world center, in its press, radio, and television, of antisemitism and anti-Americanism, and its Muslim population has not hesitated to terrorize the Copts, the descendants of the original Egyptians. Muslim states cannot conceivably prevent a very great number of their people — even where those states systematically have tried to curb the power of Islam, as in Kemalist Turkey — from being hostile, often murderously hostile, to Infidels.

    The problem is not “poverty” though George Bush and Keith Ellison seem to agree that more “international construction” is just the ticket. Iraq has the second-highest oil reserves in the world — possibly, if the Saudi fields are indeed in decline, the highest. Iraq, or “Iraq,” can borrow against future earnings. Or alternatively, the Shi’a Arabs and the Kurds don’t have to borrow at all. They have quite enough. The Sunni Arabs, on the other hand, can receive money not from long-suffering American taxpayers, at the end of their collective and individual tethers, but from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, the countries which have received most of the ten trillion dollars taken in by the Muslim members of OPEC since 1973.

  8. says

    I have seen exactly one photo of Ellison looking or pretending to look with interest at the text of Jefferson’s Qur’an. That photo was taken by a Muslim photographer, and one can be sure that Ellison specified that that photographer, and no other, would be allowed to take his picture, thus ensuring that any proceeds from the photo, which appeared in the world press, would redound to the benefit of a fellow Muslim. Loyalty to the umma al-islamiyya. Never to be forgotten or overlooked.

    What did Ellison learn by looking at that Qur’an? Did he see the prefatory remarks by George Sale? If he didn’t, he can find them by looking at Jihad Watch, or he can simply google “Jihad Watch” and “Posted by Hugh” and “George Sale,” and the remarks of Sale, on his purpose in translating the book, because he, had noticed that the previous versions did not convey the real and disturbing contents of the Qur’an (not even Prideaux had done so), and he looked forward to contributing to the final “overthrow” of Islam, as an English Protestant, by Protestants.

    And has Ellison read what Jefferson, what Adams, what John Quincy Adams, what all the greatest figures in American life, concluded about Islma, based in some cases on their long experience neogotiating with the King of Morocco and the Deys of Tunis, Tripoli, Algiers, and supplemented by their study of history or, as in the case of that scholarly John Quincy Adams, of the canonical texts as well?

    They knew about Islam. They knew a good deal about Islam, and certainly far more than have any of their recent, and most unimpressive, successors.

  9. says

    Going by what Ellison has said in the past about the importance of Islam in his life I doubt that he will renounce Taqiya to further Islam in the US; so who can believe anything he says?

    Swearing on the Quran just absolves him from accepting the Constitution and fulfilling his duty in the interests of America instead of Islam’s.

    Then again he could have kept quiet, while swearing on Jefferson’s bible, and fooled the American public while explaining to his constituents that it was all taqiya.

  10. says

    Sorry, I’m reposting something that I put in an earlier article last night (but it’s from a few days ago so it’s unlikely many will see it).

    Here’s the CAIR page where they share a video of the event

    Note the title of their article:

    Video: Ellison Uses Quran for Mock Swearing-In

    Typical grammatical error, or rather numerical error, in which they say “…uses quran 4 mock swearing-in” instead of “…uses quran 2 mock swearing-in”. Wonder if they’ll fix that?

  11. says

    Ellison swore on the Qur’an. That should answer any questions:

    Shari’ah law:

    Punishments include imprisonment, flogging, amputation, and execution by beheading, public stoning, hanging, or firing squad.

    Punishment for thievery is amputation of the right hand. Multiple amputations are carried out for the crime of highway robbery.

    For persons convicted of less serious crimes, such as alcohol related offenses or being alone in the company of an unrelated person of the opposite sex, the offenders are punished by being flogged with a cane. Adultery is punishable by public stoning.

    In Shari’ah court, a man’s testimony equals that of two women. Crimes against Muslims receive harsher penalties than crimes against non-Muslims.

    In Shari’ah law, Muslim women are prohibited from marrying non-Muslims. But Muslim men are permitted to marry Christians and Jews, as well as Muslims.

    Religious tolerance: If a Muslim strays from Islam they must, in accordance with Islamic laws, be prosecuted, taken into custody by force and be called on to repent. If necessary, his or her return to Islam is to be “helped along” with torture.

    Those who do not embrace Islam and wish to convert to another religion have, according to Islamic law, forfeited their life and are to be put to death by the state.

    Islamic law has no place in free societies. It is not compatible with the United States Constitution, or the laws of any other free, democratic nation.

    Equal Rights…Islamic style:

    Qur’an 4:34: “Men have authority over women because God has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because God has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.”

    Qur’an 16:106: “Any one who, after accepting faith in Allah, utters unbelief, except under compulsion, his heart remaining firm in faith, on them is wrath from Allah, and theirs will be a dreadful penalty.”

    Qur’an 8:30: And when those who disbelieve plot against thee (O Muhammad) to wound thee fatally, or to kill thee or to drive thee forth; they plot, but Allah also plots, and Allah is the best of plotters.

    Qur’an 3:28: “Let not the believers take the disbelievers for friends rather than believers. And whoever does this has no connection with Allah unless it is done to guard yourselves against them, guarding carefully. And Allah cautions you against his retribution. And to Allah is the eventual coming.”

  12. says

    Give him time. He’s been in office one day. With CAIR’s assistance he will self-destruct before too long. He cannot serve two masters and we here all know the US Constitution and the Qur’an are mutually exclusive.

    CAIR is wearing out their welcome. If leftist cream-puffs like Boxer are drawing negative attention to them, whether intended or not, what real future does the organization have here in the US.

    Ellison will try, unsuccessfully in the end, to appease Islamists and secular-minded Americans alike. With this being nigh impossible, he will end up being revealed for what he is, a shill for CAIR. He will lose support from the American populous because of this. He will also be reviled by hardcore Islamists, being viewed as “riding the fence” and placating the infidels at Islam’s expense.

    Happy times to come !!

  13. says

    Could it be that Ellison is not confident enough in his Faith to Publicly State his intentions to tell 150 million American Women to put Bags over their heads, Stay home, and only Abort Female Babies?

    Or is it because of his Faith that he does’t?

    I’m all confused here.

    Up is down, down is up, and the spinning is making me dizzy.

  14. says

    Ellison isn’t interested in rights for literal God’s sake. Ellison wants dictatorial powers like all Muslims and his associates like Hillary Hamrod Clinton. That is the point in taking up Islam in that just like communism once you get power you keep it forever and kill off your opponents.
    Give Elli Muhammed a few more months and he will get if figured out to lie through his teeth telling Americans he supports the Constitution while he starts making mandates to weed out those pesky Christians and Patriots.

  15. says

    Well, I’ve been reading WND that column and others. Live and Learn!

    “I am inspired by the Quran’s message of encompassing divine love, and a deep faith guides my life every day,” he wrote…

    To Ellison:
    I don’t want or require your divine love, plain love or whatever from you.
    What I want from you is the Law under the U.S. Constitution/Bill of Rights – justice and equality.

    “Ellison said he decided to seek congressional office because, “I am for peace now,…..
    The same peace of the Inquisition, Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Pol Pot and Castro, etc.

    “Not every follower of Islam supports Sharia law,” Jauert told WND”

    Liars! Where are the “moderate” moslems when the islamic rabble appears?

    As well, all I hear about Moslems is their general abuse of women UNDER Sharia Law.

    “No one can be a Muslim who makes or freely accepts or believes that anyone has the right to make or accept legislation that is contrary to that divine law,” Idris adds. “Examples of such violations include the legalization of alcoholic drinks, gambling, homosexuality, usury or interest, and even adoption.”

    As to the last -“and even adoption”

    What does that mean? Aren’t there any orphans in islam? Do they kill the kids – do they sell them?

    It seems Ellison gravitates to islam, but ignores the treatment and prejudice against the African race condoned in the koran- from the “git go” – and practiced today. Treatment of the captured Blacks, their enslavement in Sudan and Ethiopia, Niger, Nigeria is unconscionable!

    What a farce – that the U.S. Blacks here, convert to islam.

    Hey, better go to the practice of Candomble and Santeria – at least there is freedom there, moving back and forth between christianity.

    We are – after all- evolved – wve come a loooon road. We are after all, in the 21st Century.

    Is this not the Age of Aquarius?

    The balancing of the Scales of Maat?

  16. says

    hmmmm, keith ellison a devout muslim and a democratic progressive???? Progressives support abortion… devout muslims oppose abortions….. conflict of interests already… Keith.

  17. says

    “…instead of cowering at charges of bigotry — which, of course, are a very effective way to intimidate critics into silence.”

    Charges of bigotry can only be effective to the extent that the surrounding context of sociopolitical culture supports them with a wider ideological web of assumptions and givens. Most everybody at Jihad Watch (and related communities) is looking in the wrong direction — at CAIR, rather than at the sociopolitical context that allows CAIR to exert its effect. Without that context, CAIR would have little, or no, effect.

  18. says

    Addendum to my last post:

    Looking at CAIR is only “wrong” if the looking does not also include an appropriately broad and deep scrutiny of the sociopolitical context that makes CAIR’s extent of influence possible.

  19. says

    Hugh there’s one thing you left out about Morocco, it was the first country to recognize the good old US of A. As a side note when the Jews were being persecuted and thrown out of Spain, where did they go, to Morocco. For them it was better to live as a dhimmi than to live under the rule of Christian Europe. And yes they had their ups and downs living in Arab “Muslim” countries but many lived very well and never thought of leaving until the creation of the modern state of Israel and the conflicts that followed.

    As for Ellison, yes he needs to state where he stands, but what’s interesting to me is what where the people who elected him thinking and was it known that he was a Muslim when he was running for office and what was he promoting that got him elected? Can anyone point me to the info?

  20. says

    By Mentat:

    What is the Shariah?

    To whom it may concern:

    Islam is often in the news these days. News articles that relate to Islam sometimes refer to the Shariah. What is the Shariah? The Shariah is the Islamic Sacred Law which was developed hundreds of years ago by Islamic jurists using the Koran and hadith (remembrances about what the Prophet Muhammad said and did during the time he was alive) as guideposts. The Shariah outlines a complete way of life in a legal framework which tells you how to do everything from how to pray to how to go to the bathroom. What does the Shariah law actually state? Here are some examples of Shariah law:

    1. Offensive, military jihad against non-Muslims is a communal, religious obligation;
    2. A person who is ignorant about Islamic legal opinion must follow the legal opinion of a scholar;
    3. The penalty for a Muslim apostate (someone who no longer believes in or no longer follows the tenets of Islam) is death;
    4. When slaughtering animals for food, a knife must be used to cut the windpipe and gullet;
    5. A woman is only eligible to receive half the inheritance of a man;
    6. Marriage may be forced on virgins by their father or father’s father;
    7. A non-Arab man may not marry an Arab woman;
    8. A woman must seek permission from her husband to leave the house;
    9. A Muslim man cannot marry a woman who is a Zoroastrian, an idol worshipper, an apostate from Islam or a woman with one parent who is Jewish or Christian, with the other being Zoroastrian; a Muslim woman cannot marry anyone but a Muslim;
    10. A free Muslim man may marry up to four women;
    11. Retaliation is obligatory in most cases when someone is deliberately murdered except when a Muslim kills a non-Muslim, a Jew or a Christian kills a Muslim apostate or a father or mother kill their offspring;
    12. Non-Muslim subjects (Ahl al-Dhimma) of a Muslim state are subject to a series of discriminatory laws – “dhimmitude”;
    13. The penalty for fornication or sodomy is being stoned to death;
    14. The penalty for an initial theft is amputation of the right hand. Subsequent thefts are penalized by further amputations of feet and hand;
    15. A non-Muslim cannot testify against a Muslim in court; a person who is “without respectability” cannot give legal testimony; a woman’s legal testimony is only given half the legal weight of a man’s (and is only acceptable in cases involving property); to legally prove fornication or sodomy requires 4 male witnesses who actually saw the act;
    16. The establishment and continuation of the Islamic Caliphate (by force, if necessary) is a communal obligation;
    17. Sodomites and Lesbians must be killed;
    18. Laughing too much is forbidden;
    19. Musical instruments are unlawful;
    20. Creating pictures of animate life is forbidden;
    21. Female circumcision, which includes the excision of the clitoris, is obligatory;
    22. Slavery is permitted;
    23. People may be bribed to convert to Islam;
    24. Beating a rebellious wife is permissible; and,
    25. Lying is permissible in a time of war (or jihad).
