Obsession, of course, is a film about jihad activity. It goes out of its way to disassociate the jihadists from the vast majority of Muslims, but that's evidently not good enough for Pace University. This story shows how the MSA has made skillful use of the Qur'an-desecration incidents. "Pace's Docu Drama: Bigs 'Threaten' Jews," by David Andreatta in the New York Post, with thanks to Davida:
January 9, 2007 -- Pace University administrators threatened to sic the cops on a Jewish-student club if it went ahead with plans to screen a critically acclaimed film about radical Islam, the head of the group charged yesterday.Michael Abdurakhmanov, president of Pace Hillel, said two deans warned that showing the documentary film would implicate club members as suspects in two hate crimes involving the desecration of the Koran at the university's lower-Manhattan campus last fall.
In addition, Abdurakhmanov said an assistant dean physically restrained him as he attempted to defend the film and his group in a meeting with administrators.
"The message was pretty clear, if you show this film, you're going to incriminate yourself," Abdurakhmanov said.
Pace spokesman Chris Cory acknowledged that officials encouraged Hillel to postpone the screening until tensions over the hate crimes dissipated, but dismissed the accusations of coercion as "far-fetched," "implausible" and "unprofessional."
Hillel had planned to screen "Obsession" during Judaism Awareness Week in November. The school stepped in after receiving complaints from Muslim students that the film negatively portrayed Islam.
In September and October, copies of the Koran were found in toilets in men's rooms on the Manhattan campus. Those incidents were followed by the discovery of a swastika scrawled on a bathroom wall and a Hillel event poster.
Abdurakhmanov, a 20-year-old psychology major from Brooklyn, said neither he nor any member of his club had reason to believe they were suspects in the Koran incidents until the dean of students, Marijo Russell O'Grady, suggested it.
"Her words were if you show this film, the police will be looking into your records further," Abdurakhmanov said....
Phone messages and e-mails left for the president of the Muslim Students Association, which objected to the film and attended the meetings, were not returned.
How can students learn anything if they are not allowed to view both sides of an issue. Islamic political introdoctrination marches on.
"Hillel had planned to screen "Obsession" during Judaism Awareness Week in November. The school stepped in after receiving complaints from Muslim students that the film negatively portrayed Islam."
This is outrageous! It beggars belief! The global jihad is real and everyone, including Muslims, should see it! The film clearly states that not all Muslims are involved in this!
If Muslims are not Demanding, they are complaining.
I say let the cops look into the records of these students as possible "persons of interest" as I am sure this would only serve to clear their names. This would then put these students in an excellent position to go after the dean for a winnable harassment suit.
Agreed, zonie kafir. But it's the willfull blindness of MANY Americans (rampant in NYC, though)to the issues; it's much easier to live thinking that it's an "ancient Jewish/Muslim" enmity.
Nice behavior by a dean at an institution of higher-level education, eh? I doubt she's seen the film, even.
I have yet to see Obsession. If the Pace students manage to show it, and it's open to the public, I'd see it there.
I agree zonia, hindus an dbuddhists hav efar more reasons to put koran sin crappers than any one else. we suffered the most under the thumb of these desciples of allah.

An American unversity censoring the showing of an anti-jihad film? In my city, no less, with a dramatic change in its skyline thanks to jihadis? Why am I not surprised? Perhaps Pace can burn all the footage from 9/11, too, so as not to offend their friggin' muslim 'students'.
It is stories like these that do not bode well for the future of Freedom in the West. Especially as this particular story comes from a university where intellecual rigor and critical examination of an issue are supposed to be the norm, but sadly is not.
And I love how the muslim 'students' have not responded to voice and e-mails on this matter. Typical. These muslim 'students' whine, bitch, moan, and seethe, but we must never expect them to explain themselves in the court of public opinion. They have rights, ya know. Like the right to be offended and make an educational institution dance to their tune (or is that haram?).
It's absolutely disgraceful that the University would rely upon intimidation to quash free discussion. I think parents of students there should seriously reconsider their backing of such a place.
Flushed Korans, that sounds familiar.
'Newsweek,' anyone? These incidents may be legit, but it would not be the first time that incidents of "hate" were staged to garner support for a cause, even at a University.
Nice-this story harkens back to the early Nazi era. Whine and complain enough and the police will clamp down on those evil Jews. And everyone knows that Islamaniacs are the grand masters of whining and complaining, being the supreme victims of the world. So much for academic freedom.
If the Dean of Students, Marijo O'Grady, indeed made that threat -- either she did or she didn't -- in order to suppress then she should be fired. And if Pace University's administration is attempting to prevent the showing of "Obsession," then that Administration's members should be fired for such an obvious attmept to prevent a reasonable exercise of free speech.
Alumni should now be withholding donations, and organizing at Pace, and not only about this kind of thing, but about other things -- including the toleration by college administrations of courses with farcical content, and of faculty members indifferent to students.
Personally I think the muslim students put the Koran in the crapper themselves - so they will have something to whine about.
What a lesson on academic freedom! The Dean should be forced to leave her post. Does anyone else smell law suit?
The question should be: "Why is a Quran the ONLY book protected from desecration?"
If someone put his chemistry textbook in the crapper, the worst that would happen would be a complaint from the custodian. If it had been a Bible or a Baghavad Gita, Christians, Jews and Hindus would be offendended but the university would do nothing.
It's just like the two comedians who made a video of shooting at a Quran and were investigated by the FBI. This is absurd. If I buy a Quran, or the Complete Works of Shakespeare, or any other book, it belongs to me. I can put it on my bookshelf or in my toilet as I see fit.

Well stated, and quite funny. The double-standard that we, the majority of Americans, have allowed to exist and be used to supress us is also absurd.
Burning the American flag = freedom of speech protected by the US Constitution.
Flushing the Qur'an = a religious hate-crime.
Robert notes that "[the film Obsession] goes out of its way to disassociate the jihadists from the vast majority of Muslims..."
The director of that movie, in his remarks in a frontpage.com interview recently, revealed that he subscribes -- likely unwittingly or semi-consciously -- to the PC Multiculturalist axiom, by which Islam and the majority of Muslims are assumed to be blameless, while all bad things Muslims do are the consequence of a "small minority of extremists who are trying to hijack Islam".
Showing Obsession is a hate crime?! The pox on those idiotic Pace U administrators!
Marijo O'Grady and any Moslem lady are sisters under the skin
Please, leave Shakespeare out of it. He did nothing to deserve this. And think of the plumbing, too.
What are muslims afraid of?? The Truth about Mohammed??
Obsession is a wonder film. It is truthful and exceptional in its presentation about what islamofascists are really about. Too bad many folks here in the us do not think muslims are a threat to their liberties and personal freedoms.
Many people, unfortunately, will find out the hard way about islam. Islam =the religion of peace=Believe it or else!
it' s the same old story: bend the kaffirs to the will of allah.
Hombres sin cajones, that's what the administration of Pace is, and that's what the Jewish students are if they cave in to the threats.
Screw them, this is America and we have a constitutional guarantee of free speech, and since when is burning or stepping on a book considered a "hate crime", and even if they did do something to that book of hate, the Qur'an, what about the hate of Islamics towards Jews and their defilation of the Bible and Torah.
If there is any hate in the world..it is in the hearts of those who hate Jews.. and that includes, especially, 99.999999999% of the worlds muslims.
How dare anyone stand still for the obvious projection that muslims inflict upon others, Muhammad is the father of religious hate and intolerance.
I have seen the film and as far as I am concerned it should be compulsory viewing for ALL, and muslims also.
Fox ran an abridged version some time ago. It should be run regularly, and so should footage of 9/11. After WW1 the slogan was "Lest We Forget" which us Aussies and Kiwis also associate with the Anzac story and all other wars and fallen comrades.
We need it again now.
Chip, chip, chipping away at western democracy on a daily basis.

In Frontpage.com's interview with Wayne Kopping, director of the documentary film "Obsession", Kopping repeatedly speaks of the problematic Muslims as "Radicals" (a couple of times also using the term "Islamists"). Then, towards the end of the interview, in summation, he says:
"In "Obsession", we go out of our way to make a distinction between 'radical' and 'moderate' Muslims, and we repeatedly declare that the majority of Muslims are not radicals."
Elsewhere in the interview, he says things like:
"...we have to make sure that we don't treat the moderates as if they are radicals."
and
"Let me be clear about this - we are not in a war against Islam. We are in a war against those who are using Islam..."
The fact that even somebody like the director of "Obsession" subscribes to the PC Multiculturalist axiom, is a sobering fact indeed, and points to what I have been saying so often, that this axiom, and the PC Multiculturalist matrix it fits into is dominant in our society. Director Kopping appears to be one of those people moving along on the Learning Curve, still rather far from the apex which we Jihad Watchers have attained; however, it's not unlikely that Kopping is stuck in a holding pattern on his spot on the Learning Curve, and will never move higher (short of some extreme personal experience, such as personally witnessing thousands of ordinary Muslims rioting amok, butchering innocent non-Muslims).
I'm interested in seeing this film. Can someone give me some more information on it?
A highly recommended film is Mark Levin's Protocols of Zion, a documentary about the conspiracy theories coming out of 9/11. It showed briefly at the campus cinema in my town. Don't know what kind of response it got, but as it certainly pulled no punches about the rampant ant-Semitism in the Muslim world it probably offended more than a few.

Hi,,see my post above.
So many good comments have alredy been made. I should have posted sooner so I could have been the first one to voice them.
The koran flushings and subsequent swastiksa scratched on walls seem just as staged as the six flying imams debacle.
Like I said lots of good pointss.
1) Why isn't desecrating an American flag considered a hate crime?
2) What is illegal about putting a book in a toilet? If someone put a biology text book in the toilet, would that be a crime? If not, then how is putting a koran in a toilet a crime?
The only thing I can think of is that said books could plug the toilet and cause damage to the plumbing. That could be a crime, but I cannot imagine that the school would prosecute it very vigorously, were it a biology book.
Ultimately, the school is attempting to punish someone for their thoughts, which are protected by the first amendment.
If it does turn out that it was indeed a muslim who put the books in the toilet to create the false impresion of the existence of "islamophobia" on campus, I wonder what the punishment, if any, will be.
IF that is the case and the hypothetical muslim is not punished in the severe manner promised by PU, it will prove that they are engaging in thought-policing.
Scary!
What's the use of going to a liberal arts college?
You don't learn anything.
