Flemming Rose in this interview reminds us, in these days of D'Souzaite dhimmitude, that publishing the cartoons of Muhammad was a courageous and necessary act. "Editor: Mohammad cartoons provoked vital debate: Editor of Danish newspaper that published cartoons of Prophet Mohammad, touching off violent protests, says caricatures 'made an existing reality visible,'" from Reuters, with thanks to Davida:
Almost a year after violent protests against Danish cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad, the editor who commissioned the drawings said they had prompted a vital debate on the integration of Islam in the West.Flemming Rose, culture editor of daily Jyllands-Posten, said on Wednesday he had published the 12 cartoons depicting Mohammad to defend free expression against what he saw as self-censorship over Islam in Denmark and Europe.
The cartoons sparked protests by Muslims around the world in which at least 50 people died. Many Muslims regard any image of the Prophet as blasphemous."The cartoons didn't create a new reality, they just made an existing reality visible. This reality is about differences in culture that have been taboo to discuss in Europe," Rose told a news conference.
[...]
"Of course a drawing in a newspaper is never worth even a single life, but I just don't accept the direct connection between our drawings and that people were killed," he said.
Rose added that if he said he would not publish the cartoons again, it would send a signal that intimidation, threats and violence could be used to silence critics.
Now this is a REAL man, a man of integrity! With all the stories we see about spineless politicians, clueless writers and Islamaniac apologist flunkies it's almost impossible to conceive of anyone who doesn't bow down to the evil ones in one way or another. But when we get a man like this BOY does he stand out! May he live long and continue to fight the good fight despite all the odds.
My respects to Mr. Flemming Rose. A man of
integrity,and above all "Cojones". That's
something rare in Eurabia today.

It is a lie that Rose's cartoons caused the uproar. It is just preposterous. I have seen much greater mocking of the prophet.
What the Muslims object to are the Danish immigration policies. Particularly, the policy to prevent spouses under 24 years old from being brought into the country. The entire cartoon riots were government staged riots. It is totally ridiculous.
The riots were the Muslims fault!!!
Islam killed those 50 people. And the Muslims--typically--took zero responsibility for their personal actions. They felt no shame for the global depravity displayed, in Mohammed's name, over a few newspaper cartoons. The beast was unveiled for all to see.
Bravo to Mr. Flemming Rose.
Printing the cartoons took some guts, but refusing to back down afterwards, and explaining why clearly and accurately, that took unbelieveable bravery and brains. We owe Flemming Rose an on-going debt of gratitude.
It is a shame we do not have politicians who can boldly stand up and do the right thing.....Imagine if this guy ran the country!! Would he garner the support of the people or would he been chastised by the MSM, the left, and the appeasment crowd......
It should be remembered that the cartoons were published in September, 2005. They were also published a short time later in Egypt and Indonesia. There were complaints and protests, but nothing violent. It wasn't until three months later that the rioting began. Why? A 60 year old Palestinian imam, Ahmed Abu Laban, who was living in Denmark after being expelled from Egypt and Kuwait for his involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood, added two truly offensive cartoons to the dozen published by Jyllands-Posten ahd took them on a hate-mongering tour of the Middle East. If anything, it was the offensive cartoons Abu Laban deceptively added to the portfolio that caused the bloodshed and property damage.
Holger Danske is stirring, if not already awake.
What about the rest of us? I notice that a lot
of my fellow Americans cluck when the UK gov. or
media do the dhimmi dance, but are we really any
better here? As I recall, the US media was lame.
Thank you Flemming Rose. We must defend our freedom even if lives are lost in that defense. Buy Danish!
Thank You, Mr. Flemming for standing UP!
Bravo!

SPOT ON.
This Flemming Rose dude has HUGE balls.
"Of course a drawing in a newspaper is never worth even a single life, but I just don't accept the direct connection between our drawings and that people were killed," he said.
And you need never accept any connection since you did NOT cause the response. Healthy people do not swarm, murder, pillage and burn over drawings .. of anything.
"The cartoons didn't create a new reality, they just made an existing reality visible." Exactly so.
Bravo, Fleming Rose. Bravo.
